금주의 묵상: 시편 96:1-13

본문: 골로새서 1:15-29

제목: 그리스도를 아는 지식을 통해 영생의 삶을 누리자!

       감옥에 갇혀있던 사도 바울은 함께 갇혀있는 에파프로를 통하여 골로새에 있는 성도들에 대하여 듣고, 주 예수 그리스도에 대하여 그가 알고 있었던 지식을 골로새 교회 성도들에게 전하고 있으며 동시에 오늘날 우리들에게도 알려주시고 있다. 주님께서 마지막 기도 가운데 하신 말씀 가운데 “영생은 이것이니, 곧 사람들이 유일하시고 참 하나님이신 아버지와 아버지께서 보내신 예수 그리스도를 아는 것이옵니다.”(요 17:3)라는 말씀을 통하여 그리스도를 아는 것을 통하여 영생을 받는다는 진리를 깨닫게 된다.

     사도 바울은 골로새 교회 성도들에게 그들이 가지고 있는 소망에 대하여 말씀하신다: “너희를 위하여 하늘에 쌓여 있는 소망 때문이니 이 소망은 너희가 전에 복음의 진리의 말씀 안에서 들은 바라.”(5절).

그렇다! 이 하늘에 있는 소망은 복음의 진리 안에서 계시된 것이며 그들이 복음을 듣고 진리 안에서 하나님의 은혜를 깨달은 날부터 열매를 맺고 있다고 편지하고 있다. 다시 말해서 복음 안에 있는 진리를 깨달은 사람은 살리는 영이신 성령을 통하여 영원한 생명을 받고 다른 사람들에게도 복음을 전하여 생명을 주는 영생의 열매를 맺게 되는 것이다. 사마리아에 가신 예수님께서 제자들에게 영생에 이르는 열매에 대하여 말씀하셨다: “또 거두는 사람은 삯을 받고 영원한 생명에 이르는 열매를 모으느니라. 이는 뿌리는 사람과 거두는 사람이 다 함께 즐거워하하려 함이라. 이렇듯 한 사람은 심고 한 사람은 거둔다는 그 말이 옳도다.”(요 4:36,37) 그렇다! 당장 열매를 거두지 못해도 복음의 씨를 뿌리는 일이 얼마나 축복된 일인가?

     사도 바울은 골로새에 있는 성도들을 위하여 하나님께 기도하고 있다. 그가 그들을 위하여 기도하는 제목은 그들이 모든 지혜와 영적 지각 안에서 그분의 뜻을 아는 지식으로 충만케 되어 주께 합당히 행하므로 모든 일에 기쁘시게 하고 선한 일마다 열매를 맺고 하나님을 아는 지식이 자라나며 또 그분의 영광의 힘을 따라 모든 능력으로 강화되어 기쁨으로 모든 인내와 오래 참음에 이르러 빛 가운데서 성도의 유업의 동참자가 되기에 합당하게 하신 하나님께 감사드리기를 원하는 것이었다 (9-12절)

     사도 바울은 에베소에 있는 성도들을 위해서도  동일한 기도를 하였는 바, 동시에 우리들을 위한 기도이기도 하다: “우리 주 예수 그리스도의 하나님, 영광의 아버지께서 자기를 아는 지식 안에서 지혜와 계시의 영을 너희에게 주시어 너희의 지성의 눈을 밝히셔서 너희로 하여금 그의 부르심의 소망이 무엇이며 성도들 안에 있는 그의 유업의 풍성함이 무엇인지 또 그의 강력한 능력의 역사를 따라 믿는 우리에게 향하신 그의 능력의 지극히 위대하심이 어떤 것인가를 너희로 알게 하시기를 원하노라.’(엡 1:17-19)

     사도 바울은 본문에 나타난 편지를 통하여 그리스도에 대하여, 그는 보이지 않는 하나님의 형상이시며 모든 피조물의 첫 태생, 다시 말해서 이 땅에서 성령으로 태어난 첫 사람이 되셨다고 증거하고 있다. 그분께서 사람으로 나타나시기 전에 그는 만물을 창조하신 분이신바, 하늘에 있는 것들과 땅에 있는 것들과 보이는 것들과 보이지 않는 것들과 보좌들이나 주권들이나 정사들이나 권세들이나 모두를 그분 자신을 위하여 창조하셨다고 증거하고 있다. 그런데 만물 이전에 계시고 또 만물이 그로 말미암아 존속하는 바로 그분께서 몸인 교회의 머리시라고 증거하고 있으니 이 얼마나 놀라운 일인가? 다만 깨닫는 자들에게만 놀라운 일인 것이다. 이 사실을 깨닫는 자마다 회개하고 그분을 온 마음을 다해 주님으로 구세주로 또한 왕이신 하나님으로 영접하게 되니 주님의 기도처럼 그분을 아는 것이 바로 영생이라는 사실이 바로 진리 중의 진리가 아니겠는가?

     사도 요한도 예수님에 대하여 깨달아 아는 지식에 대하여 분명하게 증거했다: “태초에 말씀이 계셨고, 그 말씀이 하나님과 함께 계셨으니, 그 말씀은 하나님이셨느니라. 그 말씀이 태초에 하나님과 함께 계셨느니라. 만물은 그에 의하여 지은 바 되었으며, 이미 지은받은 것 가운데 그가 없이 지어진 것은 아무 것도 없더라. 그분 안에 생명이 있었으니 그 생명은 사람들의 빛이라. 그 빛이 어두움 속에 비치어도 어두움은 그것을 깨닫지 못하더라….그가 자기 백성에게 오셨으나 자기 백성이 그를 영접하지 아니하더라. 그러나 누구든지 그를 영접한 사람들에게는 하나님의 아들들이 되는 권세를 주셨으니, 즉 그의 이름을 믿는 사람들에게니라. 그들은 혈로나 육신의 뜻으로나 또한 사람의 뜻으로 나지 아니하고 하나님에게서 난 사람들이라. 그 말씀이 육신이 되어 우리 가운데 거하시므로, (우리가 그 영광을 보니, 아버지의 독생자의 영광으로) 은혜와 진리가 충만하더라.”(요 1:1-5,11,12,13,14)

     잠언 기자인 솔로몬은 성령의 기름부음을 통하여 앞으로 이 땅에 나타나실 창조주이신 예수 그리스도에 대하여 증거할 때에 그리스도의 영이 그의 입을 통하여 말씀하셨다: “주께서 태초에 일하실 때에, 옛적에 그의 일을 시작하시기 전에 나를 소유하셨느니라. 영원부터, 태초부터, 땅이 있기 전부터 내가 세움을 받았느니라. 깊은 곳들이 없었을 때 내가 났으니, 물이 솟는 샘들이 없었을 때라. 산들이 세워지기 전에, 작은 산들이 있기 전에 내가 났으니 그가 아직 땅도, 들도, 세상의 가장 높은 곳의 흙도 짓지 아니하셨을 때라. 그가 하늘들을 마련하실 때 내가 거기 있었으며, 그가 깊은 곳의 표면 위에 범위를 정하실 때에도 내가 거기 있었느니라. 그가 위로 구름들을 세우시고 깊음의 샘들로 힘있게 하셨을 때, 바다에게 법령을 내려 물들로 그의 명령을 어기지 못하게 하시며 또 그가 땅의 기초들을 정하셨을 때, 그때 내가 그와 함께 양육된 자로서 그분 곁에 있어 날마다 그분의 기쁨이 되었으며, 그분 앞에서 항상 즐거워하였고, 그의 땅의 거처할 만한 곳에서 즐거워하였으며, 나의 기쁨이 사람들의 아들들과 더불어 있었느니라. 그러므로 오 너희 자녀들아, 이제 내게 경청하라. 내 길들을 지키는 자들은 복이 있느니라. 훈계를 듣고 현명하게 되며, 그것을 거절하지 말라. 내게 들으며 날마다 나의 문들에서 지켜보고 나의 문설주들에서 기다리는 자들은 복이 있나니 이는 나를 만나는 자마다 생명을 얻고 주의 은총을 받을 것임이니라. 그러나 나를 거슬러 죄를 짓는 자는 자기 혼을 해치는 자니, 나를 미워하는 모든 자들은 죽음을 사랑하는 자들이라.”(잠 8:22-36)

     사도 바울은 영적인 아들 디모데에게   창조주께서 사람이 되신 신비로운 사실을 성도들에게 증거하도록 편지 했다: “경건의 신비는 논쟁의 여지 없이 위대하도다. 하나님께서는 육신으로 나타나셨고 성령으로 의롭게 되셨으며, 천사들에게 보이셨고 이방인들에게 전파되셨으며, 세상에서 믿은 바 되셨고 영광 가운데로 들려 올라가셨음이라.”(딤전 3:16)

     사도 바울은 창조주께서 사람으로 나타나셔서 하신 일에 관하여 증거했다: “그의 십자가의 보혈을 통하여 화평을 이루고 땅에 있는 것이나 하늘에 있는 것이나 그에 의하여 모든 것이 자신과 화해하는 것이라. 너희가 전에는 악한 행실로 인하여 멀리 떠나 너희의 생각으로 원수가 되었으나 이제는 그의 죽으심을 통하여 그의 육신의 몸 안에서 그가 화해케 하셨으니 그가 보시기에 너희를 거룩하고 흠 없고 책망할 것이 없이 드리고자 함이라.”(골 1:20-22)

     사도 바울은 교회의 성도들이 창조주이신 분이 사람이 되신 그리스도께서 받으신 모든 고통에 대하여 깨닫고 영원한 생명을 받을 수 있도록 인도하기 위하여 그의 몸을 아끼지 않고 고난을 받으면서 그가 그들을 위하여 받는 고난을 기뻐하라고 말했다. 그 자신도 그리스도를 따라 그의 복음 사역을 통하여 받는 고난들이 바로 그가 믿는 그리스도를 위함이었기 때문이었다. 그는 고린도 교회 성도들에게도 “내가 그리스도를 위하여 약한 것들과 모욕과 궁핍과 박해와 곤경을 기뻐하노니 이는 내가 약할 때 곧 내가 강하기 때문이라.”(고후 12:10)고 증거했다.

그렇다! 이 마음이 바로 그리스도이 마음이며 그리스도를 전하는 사역자들의 마음인 것이다. 이 마음을 가지고 그리스도의 몸된 교회를 위하여 고난을 받으며 썩어질 육신에 채우지 않겠는가? 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation: psalms 96:1-13

Main scripture: Colossians 1:15-29

Subject: Have eternal life through the knowledge of Christ

     Apostle Paul heard of the saints in Colosse from brother Epaphras in the prison in Rome; and he wrote a letter to the Colossians to deliver the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. We receive the same letter from him today. Lord Jesus said a very important message in his final prayer: “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”(John 17:3)

Now we understand a truth that we receive the life eternal through knowing Christ.

     Apostle Paul testified to the Colossians of their hope:

“For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel ;”(v5)

Yes! The hope in heaven is revealed in the truth in the gospel. They brought forth fruit since they heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth. In other word, they that understand truth in the gospel are to preach the gospel, and bring forth the fruit of the eternal life through the Holy Ghost, the quickening Spirit. The Lord Jesus also spoke to his disciples of the fruit unto the life eternal in Samaria:

 “And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.”(John 4:36, 37)

Yes! What a blessing if we sow the seed of the gospel even without bringing forth the fruit right away!

     Apostle Paul prayed for the saint in Colosse to desire that they might be filled all wisdom and spiritual understanding; and that they might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light (v9-12).

     Apostle Paul prayed for the saints of Ephesians; this is the also prayer for all of us:

“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,”(Eph. 1:17-19)

      Apostle Paul testifies of Christ:

“Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.”(v 15-18)

     What a wonderful thing it is that Christ is the head of the church that is his body for them that understand this truth! Whosoever understands this is to repent to receive Christ as the Lord and Savior and the King that is God in all the heart.

As the prayer of Jesus, knowing him is the eternal life itself; what a wonderful truth it is!

     Apostle John also testified of the knowledge of Jesus very clearly: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not…..¹¹He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”(John 1:1-5, 11-14)

     King Solomon, the writer of Proverb testified of Jesus Christ, the Creator through the anointment of the Spirit; the Spirit of Christ spoke through his mouth:

“The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth: While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world. When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth: When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep: When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth: Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him; Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men. Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways. Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD. But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.”(Prov. 8:22-36)

     Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, his spiritual son of mysterious incarnation of the Creator so that he might teach the saints in his church: “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”(1Tim. 3:16)

     Apostle Paul testified of the things that the Creator did being manifested in flesh:

“And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:”(Col. 1:20-22)

     Apostle Paul understood all kinds of suffering that were taken by Christ; and he never tried to save his body for the saints so that they might receive the life eternal; and he asked the saints to rejoice in his sufferings for them. It was because that all his sufferings for the ministry of the gospel were for the sake of Christ. Therefore, he testified to the saints in Corinthian church: ^“Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.”(2Cor. 12; 10)

     Yes! His mind is the one of Christ as well as the heart of the ministers of Christ. What about filling up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in our corruptible flesh for the sake of the church that is the body of Christ!
