금주의 묵상: 시편 90:1-17

본문: 시편 39:1-13

제목: 무엇을 기다리고 살고 있는가?

    오늘 우리는 이 세상에 살았던 사람들 중에 하나님의 마음에 들었던 다윗 왕의 기도 속에 있는 고백을 듣는다. 다시 말해서 하나님께서 기뻐하시는 기도를 듣는다. 우리들은 어떤 기도를 드리며 살고 있는가?

     그는 전에 고라의 아들들을 위한 시를 통하여 “사람이 존귀할지라도 오래 살지 못하니 그가 멸망하는 짐승들과 같도다….사람이 존귀에 처해 있어도 깨닫지 못하면 멸망하는 짐승들과 같도다.”(시 49:12,20)라고 증거했다.

     그렇다! 하늘 아래 창조물 가운데 사람같이 존귀한 존재가 어디 있겠는가? 빛을 포함해서 모든 창조물들은 하나님의 말씀으로 창조되었지만 사람만이 하나님께서 친히 흙으로 잘 빚어서 몸을 만들고 자신이 가지신 생명의 호흡을 불어넣으셔서 살아있는 혼으로 만드신 것이 아닌가? 그러나 이 사실을 깨닫지 못한다면 개나 고양이 보다도 미련한 일이 아니겠는가? 하나님께서는 사람이 영원무궁토록 살도록 살아있는 혼으로 만든 사실을 깨닫지 못한다면 그야말로 기어다니는 지렁이만도 못할 정도로 어리석은 사람인 것이다.

     오늘 본문에 나오는 말씀들을 묵상하면서 다윗의 기도 속에 들어있는 고백들을 깊히 묵상해 본다면 지혜로운 시간이 될 것이다.

     “주여, 나의 종말과 내 날들의 분량이 어떠한지 나로 알게 하시어 내가 얼마나 연약한지 알게 하소서.”(4절)

자신의 종말이 언제일지, 그리고 수명껏 산다해도 남은 세월이 얼마나 되는지, 그리고 자신이 얼마나 연약한 존재인지 알려고 구해 보았는가? 지헤의 사람 모세는 “우리의 연수가 칠십이요, 강건하면 팔십이어도 그 연수의 힘은 수고와 슬픔이니, 그것이 끊어지면 우리가 멀리 날아가나이다. 누가 주의 성내심의 능력을 아나이까? 주의 두려움에 따라 주의 진노가 있나이다. 그러므로 우리에게 우리의 날들을 세도록 가르치시어 우리의 마음이 지헤에 이르게 하소서.”(시 90:10-12)라고 기도했다.

사람이 늙으면 눈이 원시(遠視)가 되는 이유를 아는가? 늙으면 가까은 것은 잘 안 보이고 먼 곳에 있는 것이 더 잘 보이는자 아는가? 남은 날을 계수하면서 살라는 하나님의 뜻이 있는 것이 아닌가?

     “보소서, 주께서 내 날들을 손 너비만큼 주셨으므로 내 연수가 주 앞에서는 없는 것 같사오니 진실로 가장 좋은 상태에 있는 모든 사람도 다 헛될 뿐이니이다.”(5절)

인류 역사상 육신적으로 가장 좋은 상태에 있었던 사람들 중에 대표적인 인물은 아마도 솔로몬 왕일 것이다. 그가 삶을 마치면서 어떤 고백을 하였는가?

“헛되고 헛되며 헛되고 헛되니 모든 것이 헛되도다. 사람이 해 아래서 하는 그의 모든 수고에서 무슨 유익을 갖겠는가?…전체의 일의 결론을 들을지니, 하나님을 두려워하고, 그의 계명들을 지키라. 이것이 사람의 모든 의무니, 이는 하나님께서 선이든지 악이든 모든 행위와 모든 은밀한 것들을 심판하실 것임이라.”(전 1:2,3; 12:,13,14)고 고백했다.

지혜로운 사람은 다른 사람이 겪은 체험을 통하여 자신의 경험으로 삼아 마치 자신이 동일한 체험을 한 것처럼 산다. 그렇다! 우리는 솔로몬 왕이 겪은 헛된 삶을 반복할 필요가 없는 것이다. 그러면 손 너비만큼 주신 삶을 어떻게 살 것인가? 옛날에 어떤 지혜로운 사람이 말하기를, 자신이 생을 마칠 나이에 미리 자신을 갖다 놓고 미리 뒤를 돌아보면서 “이렇게 살았어야 했을 텐데”라고 후회하게 될 것을 미리 알고 바른 삶을 사는 것이라고 했다. 아직 젊다고, 살 날이 많이 남았다고 생각하면서 육신의 정욕과 인목의 정욕과 이생의 자랑에 취해 사는 사람이야말로 다음 날 아침에 도살장으로 끌려갈 운명을 알지 못하고 먹고 자기만을 즐기는 돼지와 무엇이 다르겠는가? 그야말로 깨닫지 못하는 사람은 멸망하는 짐승과 같은 것이다.

     “진실로 사람마다 헛된 그림자같이 걸어다니며 진실로 그들이 헛되이 분주하니 재물을 쌓으나 누가 그것을 가질지 알지 못하나이다.”(6절)

선지자 다니엘은 마지막 때에 사람들이 얼마나 바삐 다니며 분주할 것인지에 대하여 예언했다: “그때에는 많은 사람이 이리저리 달릴 것이요 지식이 증가하리라.”(단 12:4)

예수님께서도 마지막 때에 사람들이 어떤 일로 바쁘게 살지에 대하여 말씀하셨다: “노아가 방주에 들어가던 날까지 그들은 먹고, 마시고, 장가가고, 시집가고, 하였으나, 홍수가 나서 그들을 다 진멸시켰느니라. 그것은 또한 롯의 날들에 일어났던 것과 마찬가지라. 그들은 먹고 마시고, 사고 팔고, 심고 건축하였으나, 롯이 소돔에서 나가던 날 하늘에서 불과 유황이 비오듯하여 그들 모두 진멸시켰느니라.”(눅 17:27-29)

     다윗은 하나님께 기도하면서 자신이 얼마나 약한 존재인지, 자신의 남은 삶이 얼마나 짧은지, 또한 육신의 짧은 삶이 얼마나 헛된 것인지, 분주하게 일하며 재물을 쌓으나 그것 또한 헛된 일인지 깨달았을 때 자신이 무엇을 바라보며 살 것인지에 대해 하나님께 고백했다: “나의 소망은 주께 있나이다.”(7절)

그는 그의 삶의 유일한 소망이 하나님께 있음을 알고 마침내 하나님께 간구의 기도를 드렸다: “나의 모든 죄과에서 나를 구하소서. 나로 어리석은 자의 질책이 되지 않게 하소서. 내가 벙어리가 되어 입을 열지 아니하였으니 이는 주께서 그것을 행하셨기 때문이니이다. 주께서 죄악을 책망하심으로 사람을 바로 잡으실 때 그의 아름다움을 좀과 같이 소멸케 하시나니 진실로 모든 사람이 헛되나이다.”(8-11절)

그는 눈물로 부르짖었다. 또한 그가 죽기 전에 자신을 용서해 주시기를 간구했다.

     그는 하나님께서 자신을 바로잡으실 때에 세상 사람들의 손을 사용하심을 인정하면서 자신의 소망에 대하여 하나님께 간구를 드렸다: “오 주여, 주의 손이 사람들과 이생에서 자기들의 몫을 받은 세상 사람들로부터 나의 혼을 구하소서. 주께서 주의 감추어진 보화로 그들의 배를 채우셨으니 그들은 자녀들로 가득하고 그들의 남은 재산을 자기들의 아기들에게 남겨주나이다. 나, 나는 의 가운데서 주의 얼굴을 보리니 내가 깨면 주의 모습으로 만족하리이다.”(시 17:14,15)

그렇다! 그는 그의 혼이 구원을 받아야 함을 깨달았던 것이다. 다시 말해서 그의 본체가 육신이 아니고 “혼”이라는 것을 알았던 것이다. 그가 살아있는 혼인 것을 알았기 때문이었다. 그는 자신의 혼이 영원히 살아야 할 것을 알았고 그의 혼이 죄사함을 받아 죽은 후에 지옥에 가지 않고 하나님을 뵐 수 있기를 소망하면서 주님의 모습으로 변화되기를 기도했던 것이다. 그가 아브라함의 품으로 갔다가 그리스도께서 피를 흘리시고 죽으셨다가 부활하실 때 함께 부활하여 함께 하늘에 올라가게 해 달라고 간구한 것이다. 그는 이를 위하여 이미 하나님께 기도한 바 있었다: “이는 주께서 내 혼을 지옥에 버려두지 아니하시며 주의 거룩하신 분으로 썩어짐을 보지않게 하실 것임이니이다.”(시 16:10)

     사도 베드로는 구원에 대하여 증거했다 “너희가 그를 보지 못하였으나 사랑하며, 지금도 그를 보지 못하나 믿고 있으며, 또 말할 수 없이 영광으로 가득 찬 기쁨으로 즐거워하나니 이는 너희 믿음의 결과, 곧 너희 혼들의 구원을 받음이니라.”(벧전 1:8,9)

     사도 바울은 우리의 육신이 우리의 혼이 거하는 장막 집이라고 말하면서 우리의 소망에 대하여 증거했다: “우리가 아는 것은 만일 땅에 있는 우리의 장막 집이 무너지면 하나님께서 지으신 큰 집, 즉 손으로 짓지 아니한 하늘들에 있는 영원한 집이 있다는 것이라. 정녕 우리가 여기에서 신음하며 하늘에서 오는 우리의 집으로 옷입게 되기를 간절히 바라나 만일 우리가 옷입고 있다면 벗은 채로 발견되지 아니하리라. 이 장막 집에 있는 우리가 짐을 지고 신음하는 것은 벗으려는 것이 아니라 옷입혀 지고자 함이니 이는 죽을 것이 생명에 의하여 삼켜지는 것이라. 이제 이것을 우리에게 이루신 분은 하나님이시며 그분께서는 또한 우리에게 성령의 보증을 주셨느니라. 그러므로 우리는 항상 자신에 차 있어 우리가 몸에 있는 집에 거할 때 주로부터 멀리 떨어져 있다는 것을 아나니 이는 우리가 믿음으로 행하고 보는 것으로 행하지 아니함이라. 우리가 자신에 차 있으니 정녕 몸에서 떠나 주와 함께 있는 것을  오히려 더 원하노라. 이 때문에 우리가 애쓰는 것은 거하든지 떠나 있든지 그분을 기쁘시게 해 드리기를 바라는 것이라.”(고후 5:1-9)

     그렇다! 우리가 썩을 몸 안에 있는 동안 모든 죄악들을 다 벗어버리고 몸을 산 제물로 드려 하나님을 기쁘시게 하다가 그리스도의 날, 즉 휴거의 날에 주 예수 그리스도의 모습으로 변하는 소망만이 헛되지 않고 영원한 소망인 것이다. 이 소망에 대하여 사도 요한은 증거했다: “사랑하는 자들아, 이제 우리가 하나님의 아들들이라. 우리가 어떻게 될 것인지는 아직 나타나지 아니하였으나 그가 나타나시면 우리가 그와 같이 되리라는 것을 아노니, 이는 우리가 그분 그대로 그분을 볼 것이기 때문이라. 이 소망을 가지는 사람은 누구나 그 분이 정결하신 것처럼 자신을 정결케 하느니라.”(요일 3:2,3)

사도 바울도 동일한 증거를 했다: “우리의 시민권은 하늘에 있으므로 우리가 그곳으로부터 오실 구부이신 주 예수 그리스도를 기다리고 있으니 그가 만물을 자신에게 복종시키는 그 능력의 역사로 인하여 우리의 천한 몸을 그분의 영광스러운 몸같이 변모시키시리라.”(빌 3:20,21)

     그렇다! 오늘이 바로 헛되지 않고 영원한 소망을 붙들고 이 소망 속에 자신을 정결케 하는 삶을 살 결단을 하는 축복의 날인 것이다. 오늘의 결단이 영원으로 이어지는 축복이 되는 날이 되기를 바라는 것이다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 90:1-17

Main scripture: Psalms 39:1-13

Subject: What are you waiting for?

     Today we hear the confession in the prayer of King David who pleased God. In other word, we hear the prayer that pleases God. What kind of prayer are we submitting unto God?

     He testified through the Psalm for the sons of Korah saying, Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish…Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.”(Ps. 49:12,20)

     Yea! Is there any other creature under heaven that is more honorable than man? All the creation including the light was created by the word of God. But only for man, God made its body of the dust of ground; and breathed the breadth of life of God to make him to be the living soul. If anyone cannot understand this great thing, he must be more foolish than dog and cat. If anyone cannot understand that God made him as a living soul so that he may live forever, he may be more foolish that creeping worm.

     Meditating the message in the main passage, it shall be time of wisdom through the confession in the prayer of King David.

     ^“LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is: that I may know how frail I am.”(v 4)

Have you ever asked God when your end; and how many days left to live before you even though you may live for seventy or eighty years; and how are you so weak before God?  The man of wisdom, Moses prayed to God: “The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath. So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”(Ps. 90:10-12)

Do you know why your eyes are to be far sighted getting old? Do you know why you cannot see what is near, but rather you can see better what is in distance from you? There must be the will of God that he may be asking us to count our days left before us to live.

     “Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity(v5). King Solomon may be in the best state carnally in the human history. What kind of confession did he make ending his life? He confessed saying, “Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity…. What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?…    ¹³Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”(Eccl. 1:2,3; 12:13,14)

Wise man learns something from someone else’s experience so that he may not make same mistake. Yea! We don’t have to repeat the life of vanity as King Solomon did. Then how shall we manage our life time as a handbreadth? Someone of wisdom encourages men to put themselves at the age when they are to die, and think about how they are supposed to live not to repent their life. If anyone live following the lust of flesh, and the lust of eyes, and the pride of life thinking he is still young, he is not any different from pigs that spend the time to eat and enjoy not knowing himself to be the meat of pork next morning all of sudden. Therefore man that understand not is like the beasts that perish.

     “Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them”(v 6). Prophet Daniel prophesied how much the people shall be living in the end time:“…many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.”(Dan. 12:4)

Jesus testified of the same thing as Daniel what is to come in the end time: “They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.”(Luke 17:27-29)

     King David confessed before God how much frail he was; and how much short his life was; and how much in vain his short life; and surely every man walks in a vain to heap up riches. Understanding the truth, he confessed to the Lord God: “… my hope is in thee.”(v7) Finally, he made supplication unto God saying, “Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish. I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because thou didst it. Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of thine hand. When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity.”(v8-11)

He cried out with tears, and he asked the Lord God to sparer him, before he dies.

     He recognized that God uses the hand of men in the world to correct him, and made another supplication unto God for his hope: “From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes. As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.”(Ps. 17:14,15)

Yea! He understood that his soul must be saved. In other word, he is the living soul, not the body itself. He also knew that his soul was to live forever, and prayed to God have his sins forgiven so that he might see the Lord in his likeness not to perish in the hell after he dies. Actually, he asked the Lord to send him the bosom of Abraham, and go to heaven when he rises again with Christ after he dies shedding his blood and rise again. He prayed for his hope already saying, “For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption”(Ps. 16:10)

     Apostle Peter testified of salvation: “Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. “(1Pet. 1:8,9)

     Apostle Paul, testifying of our body as the house of tabernacle spoke of our hope: “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit. Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.”(2Cor. 5:1-9)

     Yea! It is our true hope that we put off all kinds of iniquities so that we may present our body as living sacrifice to please God, and to be changed in his likeness in the day of Christ that is the day of rapture. Apostle John testified of this hope: “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.”(1John 3:2,3)

     Apostle Paul made the same testimony saying, “For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.”(Philp. 3:20,21)

     Yea! This is the day of blessing for us to steadfast the eternal hope not in vain so that we may purify ourselves. I pray that the resolution today shall be connected to the eternity for the eternal blessing for us! Amen! Hallelujah!
