금주의 묵상: 시편 19:1-14

본문: 시편 56:1-13

제목:하나님의 말씀을 찬양하고 있는가?

     우리는 본문에서 다윗왕이 필리스티아인들에게 붙잡혔다가 죽음에서 벗어나 하나님께 드리는 찬양을 듣는다. 그의 노래 가운데 그는 주의 말씀을 찬양한다고 세 번이나 고백했다. “하나님 안에서 내가 주의 말씀을 찬양하리니 내가 나의 신뢰를 하나님께 두나이다.”(4절) “하나님 안에서 내가 주의 말씀을 찬양하리니 주 안에서 내가 주의 말씀을 찬양하리이다.”(10절) “오 하나님이여, 주의 서원이 내게 있으니 내가 주께 찬양을 드리리이다.”(12절) 세 번째로 하나님의 말씀을 찬양하면서 다윗은 하나님의 말씀이 자신을 위한 하나님의 서원이라고 고백했다. 다시 말해서 하나님의 모든 말씀은 하나님께서 자신을 위하여 맹세하신 것이기에 반드시 이루어주실 것을 믿어 그분의 말씀을 찬양한다고 고백하였던 것이다.

     하나님의 모든 말씀이 하나님의 백성들과 자녀들에 대한 하나님의 서원임을 진실로 믿는다면 어느누구를 두려워하겠는가? 예수님께서 제자들에게 “너희는 몸은 죽일 수 있으나 혼은 죽이지 못하는 자들을 두려워하지 말고 혼과 몸을 모두 지옥에서 멸하실 수 있는 그분을 두려워하라.”(마 10:28)고 말씀하셨다.  이 말씀 역시 우리를 위한 하나님의 서원이 아니겠는가? 하나님의 모든 말씀이 우리를 위하여 하나님의 이름을 걸고 하신 서원이라고 믿는다면 이 세상 어느누구를 두려워하겠는가? 문제는 우리의 믿음인 것이다. 다윗왕은 특히 시편 119편을 통하여 하나님의 말씀을 찬양하는 이유에 대하여 상세하게 증거했다.

     신약시대에도 하나님의 말씀을 찬양하던 사람들이 있었다. 그들은 유대인이 아닌 이방인들이었다. 저주 가운데 하나님의 율법도 모르고 그분의 은헤의 말씀도 들어보지 못하던 이방인들이 하나님의 말씀을 찬양했던 것이다. 바울과 바나바가 전하는 복음의 말씀을 유대인들이 외면하였을 때 그들이 담대하게 말하기를, “하나님의 말씀을 먼저 너희에게 전해야 하는 것이 마땅하나 너희가 그 말씀을 외면하고 너희 스스로가 영생을 받을 자격이 없다고 판단하였으니, 보라. 우리가 이방인들에게로 향하노라. 이는 주께서 우리에게 명하시기를  ‘내가 너를 이방인들의 빛으로 세웠으니 너는 땅끝까지 구원을 베풀라.’ 하였음이라.” 하더라. 이방인들이 이 말을 듣자 기뻐하며 주의 말씀을 찬양하였고 영원한 생명을 얻기로 정해진 자들은 다 믿더라.”(행 13:46-48)

     그렇다! 주의 말씀을 전심으로 믿고 신뢰하는 사람은 누구나 영원한 생명을 얻을 수 있는 것이다. 하나님의 모든 말씀은 믿는 자들에게 생명을 주시기 위한 하나님의 서원이기 때문이다. 그러나 믿지 않는 자들에게는 어떤 역사도 일어날 수 없는 것이다. 모든 사람에게 생명을 주시기 원하시는 하나님의 은혜를 받아들이는 자마다 하나님께서 믿음을 주셔서 주 예수 그리스도를 믿게 하시고 영원한 생명을 값었이 주시는 것이다. 그러므로 하나님께서 육신으로 나타나신 예수님께서는 은혜를 찾아 자신을 찾아온 니고데모에게 “하나님께서 세상을 이처럼 사랑하셔서 그의 독생자를 주셨으니. 이는 그를 믿는 사람은 누구든지 멸망하지 않고 영생을 얻게 하려 함이니라.”(요 3:16)고 말씀하셨다.  이 말씀은 온 세상 사람들을 위한 하나님의 서원의 말씀인 것이다. 하나님께서는 인류 역사 육천 년 동안 여러 세대에 걸쳐 살고 있었던 모든 사람들에게 자신이 서원하신 말씀들을 주셨다. 어떤 사람은 그 말씀을 믿고 구원을 받아 그의 말씀을 찬양하였으나 또 어떤 사람들은 그 말씀을 업신여기다가 멸망길로 갔던 것이다.

      아담괴 이브는 생명과를 먹고 영생하라는 말씀을 외면하다가 결국 사탄의 미혹에 넘어가서 에덴에서 쫓겨나게 되었으며 아담과 같은 죄를 짓지 않았던 모든 사람들까지도 사망에게 종노릇 하게 하였던 것이다.             그러나 노아는 하나님의 말씀 안에서 은혜를 찾았기에 하나님의 말씀을 믿음으로써 120년 동안 방주를 예비하면서 의의 전파자가 되었다. 비록 그 당시에 많은 사람들로부터 조롱과 핍박을 받을 수밖에 없었지만 그는 하나님의 말씀을 믿어 찬양하였기에 120년 동안 조금도 의심 없이 방주응 만들어 자신과 그의 가족들을 구원하게 되었던 것이다. 결국 그는 아담처럼 온 땅의 왕이 되는 축복을 받았으며 아담에게 주셨던 동일한 말씀을 받았다: “다산하고 번성하여 땅을 다시 채우라. 너희를 두려워함과 너희를 무서워함이 땅의 모든 짐승들과 공중의 모든 새들과 땅 위에서 움직이는 모든 것들과 바다의 모든 고기들에게 미치리니, 그들이 너희 손에 넘겨졌음이라.”(창 9:1,2)

     믿음의 조상인 아브라함은 어떠했는가? 그가 칠십오 세에 하나님의 말씀에 순종하여 자신의 고향과 친족과 아비의 집을 떠났을 때 하나님께서 약속의 말씀을 주셨다: “네 안에서 땅의 모든 족속들이 복을 받을 것이라.”(창 12:3) 다시 말해서 그 안에서 태어날 아들을 통하여 모든 족속이 복을 받을 것이라는 약속의 말씀이었다. 다시 말해서 하나님께서 그의 혈통을 통하여 육신으로 나타나셔서 모든 민족에게 생명을 주실 것이라는 하나님의 서원의 말씀이었던 것이다. 그가 팔십이 지났음에도 하나님의 말씀을 믿었을 때 그것이 그에게 의로 여겨졌다 (창 15:6, 롬 4:3). 그는 하나님의 약속의 말씀을 전적으로 믿었기에 구십이 넘어 소망이 없는데도 “네 씨가 그렇게 되리라.”는 말씀을 소망 가운데서 믿었으며 여전히 그가 많은 민족들의 아비가 될 것을 믿었다. 그는 백살이 되고서도 자기 몸을 죽은 것으로 생각지 아니하고 또 사라의 태도 죽은 것으로 생각지 아니하였으며 그는 믿음 없음으로 인하여 하나님의 약속을  의심하지 아니하였으며 오히려 믿음에 견고하여져서 하나님께 영광을 돌리며 약속하신 것을 또한 이루실 것을 확신하였다. 이로 인하여 그에게는 믿음이 의로 여겨졌던 것이다 (롬 4:18-21).

       히브리서 11장에 나타난 많은 믿음의 조상들은 모두가 다 하나님의 말씀을 찬양하면서 믿음을 지켜 그들의 믿음이 의로 여겨졌던 것이다. 에녹, 요셉, 모세, 기드온, 바락, 삼손, 입다, 사무엘과 많은 선지자들이 좋은 예들이 될 것이다. 이들 모두는 다윗왕처럼 하나님의 모든 말씀들이 하나님의 이름을 걸고 서원하신 말씀으로 믿었으며 그로 인하여 그 말씀을 신뢰함으로써 끝까지 하나님의 말씀을 찬양하면서 하나님의 약속을 받았던 것이다.

       그렇다! 하나님의 말씀을 전적으로 믿는 자들만이 진정으로 하나님을 찬양할 수 있는 것이다. 입술로만 하는 것은 찬양이라 할 수 없는 것이다. 하나님의 모든 말씀을 믿는 자들의 찬양을 받으시기를 원하시는 하나님이신 것이다. 이에 대하여 예수님께서는 자신을 믿지 않은 유대인들을 향하여 “이 백성이 입으로는 나에게 나아오고, 또 입술로는 나를 공경하여도 그들의 마음은 내게서 멀도다. 사람들의 계명들을 교리들로 가르치니, 그들이 나를 헛되이 경배하는도다.”(마 15:8,9)라고 말씀하셨다.

     하나님의 말씀이 없는 세상을 생각해 보았는가? 말라기 선지자 이후 약 사백 녕 동안 하나님께서 말씀하지 않으신 후 예수님께서 유대 땅에 오셨을 때 어떠했는가? 온갖 병든 자들, 가난한 자들, 마귀들린자들, 음란한 자들, 위선자들, 거짓 선지자들 등등 비참한 상태가 되었던 것이다. 이방인들에게 하나님의 말씀이 전파되기 전에 그들은 어떻게 살았는가? 하나님도 예수님도 모르며, 말씀으로 거듭날 수도 없으며, 죄가 무엇인지도 모르며, 왜 사람이 죽어야 하는지도 모르며, 죄와 사망의 권세 잡은 자 마귀도 모르며, 죽어서 심판 받은 후에 어디로 가는지도 모르며 비참한 삶을 살다가 죽지 않았겠는가?  마찬가지로 지금도 하나님의 말씀이신 주 예수 그리스도를 믿지 않고 있는 사람들 또한 같은 처지에 있는 것이 아니겠는가? 그러니 우리가 받은 축복이 얼마나 큰지 다시 한 번 깨닫게 되는 것이다. 그러니 영원토록 하나님의 말씀을 찬양해도 부족할 것이다. 또한 이 때문에 우리는 하나님의 말씀을 온 힘을 다해 전파하여 한 사람이라도 성령으로 거듭나서 하나님의 나라에 들어가게 해야 할 것이다. 그러므로 사도 바울은 디모데에게 “내가 하나님과 주 예수 그리스도, 곧 그가 나타나실 때와 그의 왕국에서 산자들과 죽은 자들을 심판하실 분 앞에서 네게 명하노니, 너는 말씀을 전파하라. 때를 얻든지 목 억든지 항상 대비하라. 모든 오래 참음과 교리로 견책하며 권고하라.”(딤후 4;, 2)고 명령했다. 

      하나님의 모든 말씀이 하나님께서 믿는 자들을 위하여 주신 서원임을 믿는가? 그렇다면 하나님의 말씀을 전적으로 신뢰하는가? 전적으로 신뢰한다면 모든 삶을 그분의 말씀에 걸 수 있는가? 태초에 말씀이시며 하나님과 함께 하셨고 하나님이셨던 말씀이 육신으로 오신 분이 바로 예수님이심을 믿는가? 하나님의 말씀을 진정으로 찬양하며 전파하는 사람만이 진정으로 예수님을 찬양하는 자들이며 그들은 또한 예수님을 전적으로 신뢰함으로써 그분께서 오시는 날까지 그분을 믿는 믿음 안에 거하다가 그분의 얼굴을 영광 가운데 뵐 수 있는 것이다. 그러므로 사도 바울은 항상 말씀을 찬양하면서 그리스도의 날(휴거의 날)에 기뻐할 것이라고 증거하였던 것이다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Palms 19:1-13

Subject: Are you praising the word of God?

       God delivered King David from the Philistines when he was taken by them: he praised the Lord for his salvation in the main passage. He confessed three times in the main passage that he praised the word of God in his psalm: “In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust.”(v4) ^“In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word.”(v10) “Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.”(v12) In his third song praising the word of God, he declared by faith that the word of God is his vow. In other word, all the words of God are the pledge for him so that he believed, all the words of God shall be fulfilled; that’s the reason why he praised the word of God.

     If we believe, all the words of God are His vow for His people and His children, how we fear any one? Jesus said to his disciples, “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”(Matt. 10:28) This word is also His vow for us. If we believe, all His words are His vows in His name, how we fear anyone in the world? The issue is our faith. King Davis testified of the reason why he praised the word of God through Psalms 119 chapter in details.

     In the age of the New Testament, there were the people that praised the word of God. They were the Gentiles, not the Jews. They were ignorant of the Law of God as well as the words of grace; but they praised the word of God. Apostle Paul testified of the reason why they did when he spoke to them boldly after the Jews rejected the word of Gospel of Christ: “It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles. ⁷For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth. And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.”(Acts 13:46-48)

     Yea! Whosoever believe in the word of God sincerely in the heart trusting in Him can have the life eternal, for all the words of God are His vows that he wants to give eternal life to them that believe. But not for them that not believe in him. Whosoever receives the grace of God that gives the eternal life shall receive the faith in God so that they may receive the eternal life as a gift freely. Therefore, Jesus that was manifested in flesh spoke to Nicodemus that was looking for the grace of God: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”(John 3:16)

This word is also the vow of God for all the people in the world. God has given His vow of the word for them that have lived in all the ages for six thousand years since Adam was created. Some of them were saved by faith in His word to praise his word. but some others rejected his word to be perished.

      Adam and Eve were seduced by the devil and rejected that word of God that was asking them to eat the fruit of the life tree to live eternally so that they were cast out of the Mount Eden And they made all men to be the slaves of death even though they have never eaten the fruit of the forbidden tree. But Noah found the grace in the word of God so that he believed in the word of God, and he became the preacher of righteousness for 120 years preparing the ark. He must have been mocked and persecuted by the people, but he praised the word of God so that had built the ark without any doubt to save him as well as his family. Finally he was blessed by God to be the king of the whole earth, and received the same word of God as Adam did: “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered. “(Gen. 9:1, 2)

     What about of Abraham, the father of faith? When he departed his country, his kindred, and the house of father when he was 75 years old, God gave him the word of promise: “….in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”(Gen. 12:3)

       In other word, all the tribes of the world shall be blessed through his son to be born in him. In other word, God shall be manifested in flesh in his blood line to give eternal life unto all the nations of people. He believed his word of promise even though he was old enough more than eighty years old: and it was counted unto his for righteousness (Gen. 15:6, Rom. 4:3). He believed in the word of promise of God hundred percent, he still believed the word of God with hope saying “So shall thy seed be.” And he also believed himself to become the father of many nations. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb. He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God. And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness (Rom. 4:18-21)

     Many fathers of faith shown in the 11th chapter of Hebrews praised the word of God, and kept their faith; and it was imputed to them for righteousness: for good examples there are Enoch, Joseph, Moses, Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthae, and many prophets as Samuel. All these people believed in all the words of God as His vow in His name as King David; and they trusted in His words, and they praise His words so that they received the promise of God at the end.

     Yea! Only they that trust in the word of God are able to praise the word of God truly. The songs honoring the Lord only with lips cannot be considered as the praise of God. God wants to receive the praise from them that believe all the words of God. Jesus spoke unto the Jews that not believed in him: “This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”(Matt. 15:8, 9)

     Have you ever imagined the world without the words of God? What was the situation in Israel when Jesus came to the Jews after God had never spoken to the Jews for 400 years since prophet Malachi spoke to them? There were all kinds of the sick, the poor, the devil possessed, the fornicator, the hypocrites, false prophets and so on; it was so miserable situation. What about the Gentiles before the word of God was preached? They not knew God as well as Jesus; and there was no chance to be born again of the word of God; they knew not sin; they knew not why they had to die; knew not where they are to go after they were judged after death. What about them that still not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ that is the Word of God; they are also in the same miserable situation as them. Once again we understand how much we are blessed greatly. Therefore we cannot praise the word of God enough even though we praise him forever. Therefore we have to do our best to preach the word of God so that even one soul may be born again of the Spirit to enter into the kingdom of God. Apostle Paul commanded to Timothy: “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.”(2Tim. 4:1, 2)

     Do you believe all the words of God as the vow given to them that believe in Him? Then, do you trust in the word of God hundred percent? If you trust in the word of God hundred percent, can you pledge your whole life unto His words? Do you believe in Jesus that was the Word in the beginning; and was with God; and was God; and was manifested in flesh? Only they that praise the word of God thoroughly, and preach His word are truly praising Jesus; and they are trusting only in Jesus to abide in him until he comes to see his face in glory. Therefore Apostle Paul testified that he shall rejoice in the day of Christ praising the words of God always. Amen! Hallelujah!
