금주의 묵상: 시편 16:1-11

본문: 빌립보서 2:1-16

제목: 그리스도의 날(휴거의 날)에 자랑하기 위한 삶을 살고 있는가?

        사도 바울은 그리스도인이 된 이후로부터 평생 동안 기쁨의 삶을 살았던 대표적인 사람이었다. 그렇다고 그가 부유하고 안락한 생활을 한  것은 절대로 아니다. 오히려 그는 이 세상에 태어난 모든 사람들 가운데 아마도 가장 비참한 삶을 살았던 사람으로 기록되었을 것이다. 그 당시에 기네스 북이 있었더라면 그의 이름이 가장 고통을 많이 당한 사람으로 기록되었을 것이다. 그는 사십에 하나 뺀 매를 다섯 번이나 맞았고, 세 번 몽둥이로 맞았으며, 한 번은 돌로 맞았고, 세 번 바다에서 파선 당했으며, 여러 번 여행하는 중에 강의 위험과 강도의 위험과, 바다에서의 위험과 거짓 형제들 가운데서 위험을 당했고, 잠도 제대로 자지 못하고, 배고프고 목마르고 춥고 헐벗은 삶을 살았다.

       그렇다면 사도 바울은 어떻게 항상 기쁘게 살 수 있었던 것일까? 그는 고린도교회 성도들에게 “만일 그리스도 안에서 우리가 바라는 것이 오직 이생뿐이라면 우리는 모든 사람 가운데서 가장 비참한 사람이라.”(고전 15:19)고 말했다. 다시 말해서 그는 그리스도를 죽은 자들로부터 일으킨 그리스도의 영이 자신 안에 있었기에 그 역시 부활의 날, 다시 말해서 그리스도의 날이요 휴거의 날을 기다리는 믿음이 그를 항상 소망 속에서 기쁜 삶을 살게 한 것이다. 동시에 그 안에 있는 성령을 통하여 주신 은사들을 사용하여 항상 겸손한 생각을 가지고 남의 일을 돌보는 가운데 기쁨을 누렸던 것이다.

      그는 자신에게 기쁨을 주신 그리스도 예수의 생각을 품으라고 빌립보 교회 성도들에게 권면하고 있다. 예수님께서는 자신이 세상 죄들을 위하여 죽으셨다가 부활하실 때 모든 믿는 사람들에게 생명을 주시는 소망 가운데 하늘 보좌를 잠시 버리실 수 잇었다. 또한,  태초에 말씀으로 계시면서 만물을 아버지와 성령님과 함께 창조하셨던 하나님의 독생자께서 자신의 영예를 버리시고 종의 형체를 입으시어 사람들과 같이 되셔서 자신의 낮추시고 죽음에까지 순종하셨던 것이다. 그리스도 예수께서는 자신의 부활의 날을 바라보시면서 자기 앞에 있는 즐거움(부활)을 위하여 십자가의 모든 고난을 견디시고 모든 수치까지도 개의치 않으시다가 하나님의 보좌 오른 편에 앉으신 것이다 (히 12:2).

       하나님 아버지께서는 그리스도 예수를 지극히 높이시고 모든 이름 위에 뛰어난 이름, 즉 그리스도와 주가 되게 하셨으며 (행 2:36) 하늘에 있는 것이나 땅 위에 있는 것이나 땅 아래 있는 것이나 모든 무릎을 예수의 이름에 꿇게 하시고 모든 혀가 예수 그리스도를 주라 시인하여 하나님 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하신 것이다. 옛날 구약시대에는 하나님 아버지이신 여호와께서 친히 이스라엘의 주가 되셨지만  예수 그리스도께서 부활하셨을 때부터는 예수가 그리스도시며 유대인이나 이방인이나 할 것없이 모든 사람의 주가 되신 것이다. 예수 그리스도께서는 셋째 하늘 보좌로부터 지옥에까지 내려가셔서 세상 모든 죄들을 던지시고 올라오셨기에 하나님께서 그의 이름을 지극히 높이신 것이다. 지금은 아직도 이 예수의 이름을 믿지 않는 사람들이 여전히 많이 있을지라도 이제 그분께서 세상을 심판하러 오실 때에 그들 모두는 땅 아래에 있는 지옥에서 예수의 이름에 무릎을 꿇게 될 것이다.

       사도 바울은 그리스도의 생각을 가진 자로서 평생을 살면서 그리스도 안에 있었던 기쁨을 누리면서 모든 고난을 견딜 수 있었기에 그는 “그리스도를 위하여 약한 것들과 모욕과 궁핍과 박해와 곤경을 기뻐하노니 이는 내가 약할 때 곧 내가 강하기 때문이라.”(고후 12:10)고 증거했다. 그 이유에 대하여 그가 주님의 말씀을 들은 이후부터라고 고백했다: “내 은혜가 네게 충분하도다. 이는 내 능력이 약한 데서 온전하게 됨이니라.”(고후 12:9) 그후부터 그는 자신의 약한 것들을 자랑하게 되었으며 자신의 약함을 통하여 그리스도의 능력을 받았던 것이다. 자신의 약함과 고난을 통하여 그리스도의 능력이 거하게 함으로써 그 눙력을 통하여 오히려 고난이 기쁨이 되는 삶을 살아보았는가?

      그렇다! 사도 바울 역시 예수 그리스도를 따라갔던 제자들 중 한 사람이었던 것이다. 다시 말해서 그리스도인이었다. 그리스도의 제자가 무엇인가? 그리스도의 삶을 따라가는 사람이 아닌가? 그러면 어떻게 살아가야 하는 것인가? 사도 바울이 증거한 것처럼 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 생각을 품어야 하는 것이다. 구원받기 전에 누렸던 모든 영에를 버리고 종의 형체가 되어야 하는 것이다. 다시 말해서 하나님의 자녀들을 섬기는 삶을 살아야 하는 것이다. 이 땅에서 낮아진 만큼 주님께서 높여주실 것이다. 그러므로 사도 바울은 생명의 말씀을 전하는 그의 삶의 모든 수고가 절대로 헛되지 않으며 그의 모든 수고는 그리스도의 날 즉, 그리스도께서 공중에 임하실 때 그가 휴거될 때에 자랑스런 면류관을 받아 쓰는 한 가지 소망 안에서 예수님처럼 기쁨의 삶을 살 수 있었던 것이다. 그는 떠나기 직전에 그의 사랑하는 아들 디모데에게 “내가 선한 싸움을 싸우고 달려갈 길을 마치고 믿음을 지켰으니 이후로는 나를 위하여 의의 면류관이 마련되어 있어 의로운 재판관이신 주께서 그 날에 그것을 내게 주실 것이며 또 나뿐만 아니라 그의 나타나심을 사모하는 모든 사람에게도 주실 것이라.”( 딤후 4:7,8)고 편지했다.

       그렇다! 주 예수 그리스도께서 나타나실 때 즉, 휴거의 날을 기다리면서 에수 그리스도의 생각을 마음에 품고 주님께서 주시는 기쁨의 능력으로 모든 고난을 견디며 두려움과 떨림 가운데 구원의 기초 위에 받을 유업을 쌓는 삶을 살아야 하는 것이다. 또한 믿음을 지키면서 영광스러운 몸의 구속을 통하여 그리스도 예수의 형상으로 변하는 그 날까지 두렵고 떨림 가운데 안에서 역사하시는 하나님의 뜻을 행하면서 불평이나 다툼이 없이 하라고 사도 바울이 권면하고 있는 것이다.

       뿐만 아니라, 구약 시대에 살았던 다윗 왕도 성령 안에서 휴거의 날을 바라보면서 하나님께 간절한 기도를 드렸다: “오 주여, 주의 손인 사람들과 이생에서 자기들의 몫을 받은 세상 사람들로부터 나의 혼을 구하소서. 주께서 주의 감추어진 보화로 그들이 배를 채우셨으니 그들은 자녀들로 가득하고 그들의 남은 재산을 자기들의 아기들에게 남겨주나이다. 나, 나는 의 가운데서 주의 얼굴을 보리니 내가 깨면 주의 모습으로 만족하리이다.”(시 17:14,15)

      그가 어떻게 휴거에 대한 소망을 가질 수 있었는가? 그 역시 그리스도 예수를 죽은 자 가운데서 실리신 동일한 성령이 그 안에 있었던 것이다. 그가 시편 17편을 기록하기 전에 16편에서 “내가 주를 항상 내 앞에 모셨도다. 주께서 내 오른 편에 게시므로 내가 요동치 아니하리로다. 그러므로 내 마음이 기쁘고 내 영광이 즐거워하며 내 육체도 소망 가운데 안식히리니 이는 주께서 내 혼을 지옥에 버려 두지 아니하시며 주의 거룩하신 분으로 썩어짐을 보지 않게 하실 것임이니이다.”(시 16:8-10)

          다윗왕은 이 소망 가운데 모든 고난을 견디며 이겨내고 믿음을 지켜서 승리하여 마침내 예수 그리스도께서 부활하셨을 때 아브라함의 품에서 잠자던 많은 구약 성도들과 함꼐 일어나서 하늘로 휴거되는 축복을 받게 된 것이다 (마 27:23).

       이 세상 신인 마귀는 세상과 함께 이미 심판을 받았으며(요 16:11), 이 세상은 더 이상 어떤 소망도 줄 수 없게 되었다. 이 진리를 깨닫는 자는 복이 있는 자인 것이다. 그리스도의 날인 그 한 날에 소망의 닻을 깊게 내리고 주 예수 그리스도께서 주시는 능력을 통하여 세상을 이기고 믿음 안에 있는 기쁨을 누리면서 그 날을 바라보지 않겠는가? 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: psalms 16:1-11

Main scripture: Philippians 2:1-16

Subject: Are you looking forward the day of Christ (rapture) to rejoice?

       Apostle Paul is the man of joy through all his life since he became Christian. But it never means that he was rich enough to have comfortable life. He was rather most miserable man among all men born in the world. If there had been the Guinness Book at his time, his name might have been recorded as one that had lived most miserably among born in the world. He received five times forty stripes save one of the Jew. Three times he was beaten with rods, one was he stoned, three times he suffered shipwreck, and a night and a day he had been in the deeps. In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils by his own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; in weariness and painfulness, in watching often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

       Then, how could he joyful always? He spoke to the saints of Corinthians church, ^“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”(1Cor. 15:19)

In other word, he could have joyful life hoping for the day of Christ, so called the day of Rapture, because within him there was the Spirit of Christ that raised Christ from the dead. At the same time, he was able to enjoy the joy through the Holy Ghost that was giving the gifts ministering other people humbly.

        He is encouraging the saint of Philippians to have the mind of Christ that gave him such joy. Jesus was able to leave the throne in heaven in the hope of the eternal life that was to be given unto the believers after he dies for the sins of the world and rise again from the dead. And he, the only begotten Son of God that was the Word in the beginning as well as the creator with the Father and the Holy Ghost made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. Looking forward the day of resurrection, Christ Jesus endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God (Heb. 12:2)

        Therefore God the Father has highly exalted Christ Jesus, and given him a name which is above every name, that is the Lord and Christ (Acts 2:36) At the name of Jesus, God the father let every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things in under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. In the days of the Old Testament, God the LORD Jehovah was the LORD of Israel; Jesus has been the Lord for all men whether they are Jew or Gentiles since he was raised from the dead. Jesus came down from heaven to the hell to dump the sin of the world; and that’s the reason why God the Father highly exalted his name. Even though still many people not believe on him, they shall knee down before him in the hell that is under the earth when Jesus is come to judge the world.

       Apostle Paul could endure all kinds of suffering through the joy in Christ that was in the mind of Christ; and he testified,   ^“Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.”(2Cor. 12:10)

Such kind of joy was within him since he heard the voice of Christ, saying, “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”(2Cor. 12:9)

Since then, he most gladly he rather glory in his infirmities, that the power of Christ might rest upon him. Have you ever experience the joy in infirmities and sufferings through letting the power of Christ be within you?

    Yea! Apostle Paul was the one of the disciples that followed Christ. In other word, he was a real Christian. Who is the disciple of Christ?  Isn’t he the very one that follows Christ? Then what is the life style of Christians? As Apostle Paul testified, he should have the mind of Christ. He should make himself of no reputation, and take the form of servant. In other word, he should be the minister that is to serve the children of God. As much as he lowers himself, the Lord Jesus shall exalt him. Therefore, Apostle Paul said, holding forth the word of life; that he may rejoice in the day of Christ, that he has not run in vain, neither labored in vain. He was able to rejoice in the hope of receiving the crown to be exchanged with the cross when Jesus Christ appears in the air. He wrote to his spiritual son, Timothy right before he departed the earth:  ^“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”(2Tim. 4:7, 8)

       Yea! Waiting for the day of Christ, we should endure the afflictions through the joy and power in Christ, and work out our salvation building the inheritance on the foundation of salvation. And also keeping our faith, we have to do the will of God with fear and trembling without murmurings and disputing until we are to be changed into the image of Christ Jesus through the glorious redemption of our body.

       Even King David also was looking forward the day of Rapture in the Holy Ghost, and made supplication fervently:   ^“From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes. As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy liken” (Ps. 17:14, 15)

       How he could able to have the hope of the Rapture? He also had the same Spirit that was in Christ Jesus that raised him from the dead. Before he wrote Psalms 17, he already testified:   ^“I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.”(Ps. 16:8-10) King David could endure all kinds of sufferings in this hope to keep the faith, and he was blessed to be raised from the dead with the saints of the Old Testament that was sleeping in the bosom of Abraham, right after Jesus resurrected from the dead (Matt. 27:53).

         The Devil that is the prince of this world is judged with the world (John 16:11); and there is no hope in this world anymore.  Blessed is the man that understands this truth. What about looking forward the day of Christ overcoming the world with the joy in the power of Christ anchoring deeply into the hope? Amen! Hallelujah!
