금주의 묵상: 시편 15:1-5

본문: 고린도잔서 13:1-13

제목: 하나님의 사랑이 있는가?  아니면, 없는가?

     성령으로 거듭나서 새로운 피조물이 된 사도 바울은 사랑이 없으면 아무 것도 아니라고 증거했다. 그는 “사랑을 하지 않으면 아무 것도 아니라.”고 말하지 않고, “사랑이 없으면 아무 것도 아니라.”고 말하고 있는 것이다. 그가 사랑이라고 말 할 때에 영어로는 “love” 대신에 “charity”, 다시 말해서 아가페(Agape) 사랑에 대하여 말하고 있는 것이다. 아가페 사랑은 하나님만 하실 수 있는 사랑을 말한다. 인간의 사랑은 부모와 자식 간의 사랑이나 친구 간의 사랑이나 이성 간의 사랑은 결국 자신을 사랑하는 이기적인 사랑일 뿐인 것이다. 그러나 하나님의 사랑은 “우리가 아직 죄인 되었을 때 그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 죽으심으로써 하나님께서는 우리를 향한 하나님의 사랑을 나타내셨느니라.”(롬 5:8)는 말씀에 나타나 있다. 하나님의 사랑은 하나님의 사랑이 있는 사람만이 할 수 있는 것이다. 또한 이 하나님의 사랑이 있는 사람만이 하나님을 온 마음과 뜻과 목숨을 위하여 사랑할 수 있으며 이웃을 자신의  몸과 같이 사랑할 수 있는 것이다. 성경에서 “이웃”이란 일차적으로 교회 안에 있는 형제 자매들을 말씀하는 것이다.

       사도 요한도 하나님의 사랑에 대하여 확실하게 증거했다. 그가 하나님의 사랑을 받은 자였기에 하나님의 사랑을 증거할 수 있었다. “보라, 아버지께서 어떠한 사랑을 우리에게 주셔서 우리로 하나님의 아들들이라 불리게 하셨는가?…..이는 너희가 처음부터 들은 말씀이 우리가 서로 사랑해야 한다는 것이기 때문이라…..자기 형제를 미워하는 자마다 누구나 살인자요, 살인자는 누구나 영원한 생명이 그의 안에 거하지 않음을 너희가 아느니라. 이로써 우리가 하나님의 사랑을 아노니, 이는 그분이 우리를 위하여 자신의 생명을 내어 놓으셨음이라. 따라서 우리도 형제들을 위하여 우리의 생명을 내어 놓는 것이 마땅하도다. 누가 세상의 재물을 가졌는데 자기 형제의 궁핍한 것을 알면서도 그를 동정하는 마음을 닫으면 어찌 하나님의 사랑이 그 안에 거하겠느냐? 나의 어린 자녀들아, 우리가 말이나 혀로 사랑하지 말고 행동과 진리로 하자.”(요일 3:1,11, 15-18) 사도 요한은 영원한 생명이 안에 없는 사람은 형제 자매를 하나님의 사랑으로 사랑할 수 없다고 증거하는 것이다.

       본문에서 사도 바울은 하나님의 사랑 없이도, 다시 말해서 영원한 생명을 받지 않고서도, 또 다시 말해서 성령이 아닌 다른 영 즉, 사람의 영이나 어떤 종교의 영을 가지고서도 천사의 방언을 할 수 있고, 예언의 은사가 있어 모든 신비와 모든 지식을 알 수도 있으며, 산을 옮길만한 믿음도 가질 수 있고, 모든 소유를 주어 가난한 사람들을 구제하고 몸을 불살라 내어줄 수도 있다고 증거하고 있는 것이다. 그러나 하나님의 사랑은 오래 참고 친절하며 시기하지 아니하며 자랑하지 아니하며 교만하지 아니하고 자신의 유익을 추구하지 아니하며 급히 성내지 아니하고 악을 생각하지 아니하고 불의를 기뻐하지 아니하며 진리를 기뻐하고 모든 것을 참으며 모든 것을 믿고 모든 것을 바라며 모든 것을 견뎌낸다고 분명하게 증거하고 있는 것이다. 이런 사랑이 영원한 생명을 받은 사람들 안에 있는 하나님의 영 안에서 흘러나오는 사랑인 것이다.

      결국, 사랑은 하나님의 왕국에 들어간 사람들만 할 수 있는 것이다. 사도 바울이 하나님의 왕국에 대하여 증거할 때, “먹고 마시는 것이 아니라 다만 성령 안에서 의와 화평과 기쁨이라.”(롬 14;17)고 증거했다. 다시 말해서, 온 마음을 다 해 회개하고 예수 그리스도께서 흘리신 피를 전심으로 믿어 그분을 구세주로 영접하는 사람들마다 그리스도의 피를 통하여 구속 곧 죄들의 용서를 받아 의롭게 되어 하나님과 화평케 됨으로써 참 기쁨을 누리는 천국에 지금 들어갈 수 있으며  그들 안에 내주하시는 성령을 통하여 하나님의 사랑을 할 수 있다는 것이다. 또한 이 사랑은 본문에서 사도 바울이 증거한 것처럼 그리스도를 만나게 될 때에 얼굴과 얼굴을 마주보게 될 것이며 영원히 하나님의 사랑 안에 거하게 되는 것이다.

       사도 베드로도 형제 사랑에 대하여 같은 증거를 했다: “너희가 성령을 통하여 진리에 순종함으로써 너희 혼들을 정결케 하여 가식 없는 형제 사랑에 이르렀으니 순결한 마음으로 서로 뜨겁게 사랑하라.”(벧전 1:22) 다시 말해서 성령을 받은 사람일지라도 진리에 순종하지 않으면 혼이 정결케 되지 못하게 되어 가식적으로 형제 사랑을 할 수밖에 없다는 것이다. 다시 말해서 영 안에 계신 성령이 진리에 순종할 때 혼 속으로 흘러나와야 가식 없이 형제를 사랑할 수 있는 것이다. 이것이 바로 성령충만인 것이다. 그러므로 성령으로 거듭난 사람은 항상 성령으로 충만해야 하는 것이다(엡 5:18)  사도 베드로는  만물의 마지막이 가까운 이때에 마땅히 행하여야 할 사랑에 대하여 증거햇다: “만물의 마지막이 가까웠으니 그러므로 너희는 정신을 차리고 깨어 기도하라. 무엇보다도 서로 뜨겁게 사랑하라. 이는 사랑이 허다한 허물을 덮기 때문이니라. 불평하지 말고 서로 대접하며 각 사람이 받은 은사 대로, 하나님의 다양한 은혜를 받은 선한 청지기같이 서로 섬기라. 만일 누가 말하려거든 하나님의 말씀처럼 말하고, 또 누가 삼기려거든 하나님께서 공급하시는 능력으로 하는 것처럼 하라. 이는 모든 일에 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님께서 영광을 받으시게 하려 함이니, 그분께 찬양과 권세가 영원무궁토록 있느니라. 아멘.”(벧전 4:7-11)

       이 모든 것을 아시는 예수께서 그분을 찾아온 니고데모에게 “사람이 거듭나지 아니하면 하나님의 나라를 볼 수 없느니라….사람이 물과 성령으로 태어나지 아니하면 하나님의 나라에 들어갈 수 없느니라. 육신으로 난 것은 육이요, 또 성령을 난 것은 영이니라.”(요 3:3,5,6)고 말씀하셔신 것이다. 또, 사도 바울도 “그러므로 누구든지 그리스도 안에 있으면 새로운 피조물이라. 옛 것들은 지나갔으니, 보라, 모든 것이 새롭게 되었도다.”(고후 5:17)라고 증거함으로써 그리스도 안에 있는 자, 즉 성령 안에 있는 자는 옛 사람은 이미 죽고 없으며 하나님 안에서 살아난 완전한 새 것이라는 것이다, 다시 말해서 태어날 때에 완전 불량품이었던 자가 그리스도 안에 있는 용광로 안에서 완전히 녹아져서 새롭게 태어난 정금같은 존재라는 것이다. 그러기에 이러한 사람은 성령 안에 살 수 있으며, 이때부터 비로소 하나님의 사랑을 할 수 있는 것이다.

     오늘 말씀의 거울 안에 우리 자신들을 모습을 비추어 볼 때 우리의 모습이 새 피조물인지, 아니면 종교적인 열심으로 나를 고쳐서 하나님의 자녀로 만들어 보려고 노력하고 있는지 알 수 있을 것이다. 사랑할 수 있는 사람은 오직 하나님의 사랑이 있는 사람이며 그렇게 할 수 없는 사람은 아직까지 거듭나지 못했거나 진리에 순종하지 않아서 혼이 정결치 못하거나 둘 중에 하나라고 성경은 말씀하고 있는 것이다. 그러므로 우리는 하나님의 말씀 앞에 우리 자신을 솔직하게 드러내어 놓고 회개하여 하나님의 사랑을 받으면 되는 것이다. 하나님의 말씀을 지금 받지 않고 등 뒤로 돌리다가 슬피울며 이를 가는 사람이 한 사람도 없기를 하나님께서는 지금도 바라고 계시는 것이다, 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 15:1-5

Main scripture: 1Corinthians 13:1-13

Subject: Do you have the love of God? Or not have it.

          After being born again of the Spirit, Apostle Paul testified saying, “have not charity, I am nothing.” He didn’t say, “Love not, I am nothing.”, but “have not charity, I am nothing.” He used the word of “charity” instead of “love”. In other word he is talking about of “Agape” that is the love of God. All other love whether it is the one between parents and children, or between friends, or between different sexes, shall be ended up with self-love. The scripture testifies of the love of God that is charity saying, ^“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”(Rom. 5:8) Only they that have the love of God can love others. And only they that have the love of God can love God with all their heart and will and life; even they can love their neighbors. The first neighbor mentioned in the scriptures is brother and sister in the church of God.

       Apostle John testified of the love of God very clearly; he was the one that received the love of God so that he could testify of it saying, ^“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God….  For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another…..  Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.”(1John 3:1,11,15-18) Apostle John is arguing that they that have not the love of God cannot love others with charity.

       In the main passage, Apostle Paul testified, without the love of God, in other word, without having eternal life through the Holy Ghost, man can exercise the gift of prophesy, and he can speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and also can understand all mysteries, and all knowledge, and can have all faith so that he could move mountains, and can bestow all his goods to feed the poor, and can give his body to be burned, even though he has the spirit of man or any other religion. But he testifies of the love of God saying, “ Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.”(vs. 4-7).

Such kind of the love of God is flowing out from the Spirit of God that is within them that have the eternal life.

       After all, only they that entered into the kingdom of God could love others with charity. Therefore, Apostle Paul testified of the kingdom of God saying, “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness and, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”(Rom. 14:17)

In other word, whosoever repent with all the heart, and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as the personal Saviour through faith in his blood  could receive the remission of sins through the redemption through his blood, and be justified to be reconciled unto God with peace, and enter into the kingdom of God to have joy. Then they can love through the Spirit of God within them. And then shall they see him face to face in the day of Christ to abide in the love of God forever.

       Apostle peter also made the same testimony of the love of brothers saying,   ^“Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently :”(1Pet. 1:22) In other word, even though we have the Spirit of God, without obeying the truth, we cannot do unfeigned love of the brothers, for our souls are not purified. When we obey the truth, the Spirit of God flows out of our souls so that we may make unfeigned love of the brothers. This kind of love of brothers is only possible through the fullness of the Spirit. Therefore whosoever is born again of the Spirit of God should be filled with the Holy Ghost (Eph. 5:18). Apostle Peter also testified of what we are supposed to do in the last days saying, ^“But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. Use hospitality one to another without grudging. As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”(1Pet. 4:7-11)

        This is the reason why Jesus spoke unto Nicodemus, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God…….Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”(John 3:3,5,6)  Apostle Paul also testified as Jesus in the same manner saying,   ^“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”(2Cor. 5:17) He tried to show the knowledge of the truth that they that are in the Spirit of God are already dead with their old man, and now totally new one that is regenerated in God. In other word, in other word, they that were totally defect from the birth have been melted in the furnace in Christ to be out as pure gold as new birth. Only such kind of men can live in the Spirit of God, and they can love others with the love of God.

         When we reflect ourselves in the mirror of the word of God, we can discern our spirit whether we are the new creatures in Christ, or we are still trying to make ourselves to be the children of God with the passion of ritual exercise. Only they that have the love of God can love others. If you cannot make the unfeigned love of brothers and sisters, you may not be born of the Spirit, or your souls is not be purified because you have not obeyed the truth, either one of them. Therefore we are supposed to reveal ourselves honestly before the word of God; it is the day of the grace and salvation through repentance to receive the love of God. God is still waiting for them that receive his words not casting his words behind them so that they may not gnash the teeth with sorrow, Amen! Hallelujah!
