금주의 묵상: 시편 67:1-7

본문: 누가복음 5:1-11

제목: 무엇에 놀라고 있는가?  주님의 표적인가? 아니면 육신적인 이익인가?

       주님께서 가난한 자들에게 복음을 전하시고, 마음이 상한 자들을 치유하시며, 포로들에게 구원을 선포하고, 눈먼 자를 보게 하고, 짓밟힌 자들을 해방시켜 주시는 일을 함께 할 시몬 베드로를 부르시는 장면을 본다. 예수께서는 먼저 그의 집에 가셔서 그의 장모가 심한 열병에 걸린 것을 보시고 그 열병을 꾸짖으시어 열병이 치유받게 하셨다.

       또 다른 날, 무리들이 주님의 말씀을 듣고자 따라왔을 때 주님께서는 시몬이 고기 잡는 갈릴리 호수로 가셔서 이번에는 베드로의 배에 들어가셨다. 주님께서는 베드로가 한 마리 고기도 잡지 못한 것을 미리 아시고 “깊은 데로 나가서 고기를 잡도록 그물을 내리라.”고 말씀하셨다. 비록 그가 밤새도록 고기를 잡지 못하였으나 “선생님”의 말씀에 따라 그물을 내리겠다고 말했다. 고기 잡는 일에는 어느누구보다도 전문가였지만 그는 주님의 말씀에 순종하기로 했던 것이다. 얼마 전 자신의 장모의 병을 고쳐주신 것을 기억했는지도 모른다. 그러나 그때까지 그는 예수님을 “선생님’(Master)이라고 불렀다. 다시 말해서 그분이 하나님이신 것을 알지 못했던 것이다.

      시몬이 주님의 말씀에 순종했을 때에 당연히 많은 고기가 잡힐 수밖에 없었다. 그분이 창조주시니 많은 고기들을 그의 그물 속으로 들여보내는 일은 아무 문제도 되지 않는 것이 당연한 것이 아니겠는가? 굉장히 많은 고기가 잡혔다. 주님께서 부활하신 후 다시 그를 찾아 가셨을 때에는 153마리의 고기를 잡았다고 기록되어 있지만 본문에서는 몇 마리인지 알 수 없지만 그물이 찢어지면서 양쪽 배에 가득 채웠을 때 배들이 가라앉을 정도였다.

       이때에 그와 함께한 모든 사람들이 자기들이 잡은 고기들을 보고 놀라움에 사로잡혀 있었지만, 시몬은 이것을 보자마자 예수님의 무릎 앞에 얻드리어 “오, 주여, 나를 떠나가소서. 나는 죄인이로소이다.”라고 외쳤다. 그는 고기들을 보자마자 말씀하셨던 예수님을 다시 한 번 바라보았을 때 그분이 하나님이신 것을 처음으로 알게 되었던 것이다. 그리하여 처음으로 예수님을 “주”라고 불렀던 것이다. 그때까지만 해도 그의 동료 어부들인 야고보와 요한 역시 엄청나게 잡힌 고기를 보고 놀라서 주님을 볼 수 없었던 것이다.

         주님을 알아 본 시몬에게 말씀하셨다. “두려워 말라. 이제부터 너는 사람들을 낚게 될 것이라.”고 말씀하셨다. 그때에 그들은 배들을 육지에 대고, 모든 것을 남겨 둔 채 주님을 따라갔던 것이다. 그후에 시몬이 주님께 처음으로 신앙 고백, 즉 “주는 그리스도, 곧 살아 계신 하나님의 아들이시니이다.”(마 16:16)고 하엿을 때 주님께서는 그가 복받은 자라고 말씀하시면서 자신이 주시며 하나님의 아들이라고 알게 된 것은 하늘에 계신 하나님 아버지시라고 말씀하시면서 그를 “베드로”라는 새 이름을 주시고 그의 믿음 위에 자신의 교회를 세우실 것을 말씀하셨다 (마 16:17, 18)

       사도 바울은 주님께서 사람을 부르실 때, 미리 아신 자들을 자기 아들의 형상과 일치하게 하시려고 또한 예정하시고, 예정하신 이들을 부르시고 부르신 이들을 의롭게 하시고 의롭게 하신 이들을 또한 영화롭게 하신다고 증거했다(롬 8:29, 30). 그때에 미리 아신 베드로를 비롯하여 제자들을 부르신 주님께서는 지금도 여전히 성령님을 통하여 제자들이 될 사람들을 부르시고 계신 것이다. 하나님의 교회에 들어와 있는 사람들은 대부분 하나님께서 미리 아셨기에 부르심을 받은 사람들이다. 그 당시 베드로에게 “깊은 곳에 그물을 내리라.”고 말씀하신 주님께서는 우리들 모두에게 동일한 말씀을 하시고 계신다. “깊은 곳에 그물을 내리라.”고 하시는 말씀은 인간의 지식과 지혜로서는 말도 안되는 말씀인 것이다.

       오늘날에도 교회에 나오게 되는 동기들이 대부분 자신의 힘으로 헤쳐나갈 수 없는 환경이 될 때에 나오는 것을 본다. 사람의 생각으로는 소망이 보이지 않을 때에 나오는 것을 많이 본다. 이때에 강단에서 선포되는 하나님의 말씀을 듣게 된다. 그 당시 베드로는 밤새도록 고기를 잡았지만 한 마리도 잡지 못했다. 그는 갈릴 호수에서 유명한 어부였을 것이다. 그는 완전히 실패한 밤이었다. 사람들은 이 세상을 고통의 바다”라고 표현하기도 한다. 베드로는 그 당시 이제 자신이 할 수 있는 것이 아무 것도 없음을 알고 그물을 씻고 집으로 돌아갈 참이었다. 그러나 그때에 자신의 생각으로는 말도 안되는 주님의 말씀이 떨어졌다. 그러나 그는 “선생님의 말씀에 따라 내가 그불을 내리겠나이다.”라고 한 후 그렇게 하였을 때 기적이 일어난 것이다.

      바로 이때 주님의 얼굴을 쳐다보았을 때 처음으로 그는 예수님이 바로 하나님의 아들이심을 알았던 것이다.  그러자마자 즉시 예수님 앞에 무릎을 꿇고 예수님을 선생님이라 부르지 않고 “주님”으로 부르면서 ‘나를 떠나소서. 나는 죄인이로소이다.”라고 고백했던 것이다. 그러나 다른 사람들은 여전히 잡힌 고기를 보며 놀라움에 사로잡혀 있었다. 얼마나 대조적인가? 베드로는 주님을 보며 놀라고 있었는데, 그들은 기적이 일어난 것을 보며 놀라고 있었던 것이다. 오늘날도 두 가지 부류의 사람들이 교회 안에 공존하고 있음을 본다. 어떤 사람은 말씀에 순종하였을 때 나타나는 기적을 보면서 그 기적을 만들어주신 하나님께 죄인임을 고백하고 생명을 받아 거듭나는 사람이 있는가 하면, 다른 사람들은 기적 자체에 놀라며 또 다른 기적들만을 찾아다니기만 하는 사람들을 본다. 예수께서 남자만 오천 명을 빵과 생선으로 배불리 먹이신 후에 다음 날 주님을 다시 찾아온 사람들에게 “너희가 나를 찾는 것은 기적들응 보았기 때문이 아니라 빵을 먹고 배부른 까닭이라. 썩는 음식을 위하여 일하지 말고 영생에 이르는 음식을 위하여 일하라. 인자가 너희에게 그것을 주리니, 이는 아버지 하나님께서 그를 인치셨기 때문이라.”(요 6:26,27)라고 말씀하시면서 표적을 구하는 그들에게 그들에게 영생을 주시려고 말씀을 주셨을 때 주님의 제자라고 하던 많은 사람들마저도 “이 말씀은 어렵도다, 누가 그것을 들을 수 있겠느냐?”(요 6:60)라고 말하며 수군거리면서 주님을 떠나갔다 이때, 주님께서 “살리는 것은 영이니, 육은 전혀 무익하니라. 내가 너희에게 한 말들은 영이요 생명이라. 그러나 너희 중에는 믿지 아니하는 자들도 있느니라.”(요 6:63)고 말씀하셨다.

       하나님의 모든 말씀은 “영이요 생명이다”(요 6:63). 다시 말해서 눈에는 보이지는 않지만 말씀에 순종하기만 하면 그 말씀대로 이루어지는 창조의 능력이 있는 것이다. 지금도 하나님께서는 교회에 들어오는 사람들에게 말씀하신다. 그 사람의 형편대로 말씀하시고 계신다. 세상에서 아무리 노력해도 모든 것이 물거품처럼 된 것을 본 사람들에게 말씀하신다. 이때에 시몬 베드로처럼 “내가 지금까지 애써 일하였으나 아무 것도 이루지 못하였나이다.”고백하면서 “그러나 말씀에 의지하여 행하겠나이다.”라는 고백과 함께 그물을 내릴 때에 일어나는 일을 보면서 주님 앞에 선 자신의 모습을 깨닫게 되는 것이다. 주님을 만나서 죄인됨을 고백하고 생명을 받은 사람들은 모든 것을 버려두고 주님을 따라갈 수 있는 것이며 그때부터는 사람을 낚는 어부가 되어 없어질 세상의 정욕을 떠나서 함께 천국에 갈 사람들을 낚는 일이 생의 목적이 되는 것이다. 다시 말해서 모든 사람이 구원을 받고 진리의 지식에 이르기를 원하시는 하나님의 뜻(딤전 2:4)을 깨닫고 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 일을 위하여 몸을 산 제물로 드리는 삶을 살게 되는 것이다. “먼저 하나님의 왕국과 그분의 의를 구하라. 그리하면, 이 모든 것을 너희에게 더해 주시리라.”(마 6:33)는 말씀에 순종할 때 말씀의 기적을 보면서 믿음의 삶을 살게 되는 것이다.  사도 바울은 디모데에게 아부 중요한 권면을 했습니다: “마음이 부패하고, 진리를 상실하며, 이익이 경건이라 생각하는 사람들 사이에 무익한 논쟁이 일어나느니라. 그런 데서 네 자신은 빠져 나오라. 그러나 만족할 줄 아는 경건은 큰 이익이 되느니라. 우리가 아무 것도 가지고 온 것이 없으며 아무 것도 가지고 갈 수 없음이 분명하니 우리에게 먹을 것과 입을 것이 있으면 이것들로 만족할 것이니라.’(딤전 6::5-8)아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 67:1-7

Main scripture: Luke 5:1-11

Subject: What do you astonish at? At the sign of the Lord?  Or at physical gain?

           Now we see the scene that Jesus is calling Simon Peter who is to do ministry with him or preaching to the poor; and healing the brokenhearted; and preaching deliverance to the captives; and setting at liberty them that are bruised. Earlier, Jesus entered into Simon’s house, and healed his wife’s mother rebuking the fever.

       Afterwards, Jesus went to the lake Gennesaret, when the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, Jesus entered into Simon’s ship. Knowing that Peter had not taken anything of fish all night, Jesus spoke to him to launch out into the deep. Even though he couldn’t catch any fish all night, Simon answered to Jesus saying, “Nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.” Simon Peter was one of the professional fisher; he decided to obey the word of Jesus. He might remember that his wife’s mother was healed by him not long ago. But, by that time, he didn’t call Jesus as the Lord, but as Master; he couldn’t recognized him as God by that time.

     When Simon Peter obeyed the word of the Lord, no wonder of catching a lot of fish; for he is the Creator, and it was no problem at all for him to send many fishes into his net. A great number of fishes were caught. Jesus visited him after he rose again from the dead; even at that time Simon Peter caught nothing. Jesus made him to catch 153 fishes. In the main passage, we don’t know how many fishes were caught, but the fishes filled tow ships so that they began to sink.

       All the fisher men other than Simon were astonished at the fishes taken, but Simon fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. Seeing upon the fishes caught, he looked at Jesus again, he recognized him as the Lord for the first time. Finally he called Jesus as the Lord. By that time, his coworkers such as John and James couldn’t recognize Jesus as the Lord; they were only astonished at the fishes.

       Jesus said to Simon knowing him to see him as the Lord; “Fear not; from henceforth thou shall catch men.” Afterward, they had brought their ships to land; they forsook all, and followed him. Later on, when Simon made confession of faith to Jesus saying, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”(Matt. 16:16), Jesus said to him, saying, “Blessed are thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.”(Matt. 16:17) And Jesus gave him a new name, Peter, and said to him that he will build his church on his faith (Matt. 16:17,18)

       Apostle Paul testified of them that are called by God, saying, “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be confirmed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate them he also called; and whom he called, them also justified; and whom he justified, them he also glorified (Rom. 8:29, 30). The Lord that called Peter and other disciples at that time still is calling them that are to be his disciples through the Holy Ghost. Whosoever is in the church of God is called by God, for he is foreknown by him. The Lord Jesus that spoke to Simon to launch out into the deep, even now he is speaking unto us in the same way. The word of Jesus spoken unto Simon Peter, “Launch out into the deep.” is against the knowledge and the wisdom of man.

       Even nowadays, many people are looking for church, when they are so much desperate that they could not work out their situation of life. In other word, when they have no hope at all they come to pass to hear the word of God preached in the church. Simon Peter couldn’t catch any one fish spending all night, even though he must have been famous fisher at the lake of Galilee. He totally failed. Sometimes this word is called as the sea of pain. Simon Peter was going to go home with nothing desperately knowing nothing he could do anymore.  At that moment, the word of Jesus fell upon him that is beyond his thought. But he spoke to Jesus saying, “Nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.” Then a miracle happened right after.

       At that moment, upon looking at the face of Jesus, he became to know Jesus the Son of God; and  fell down at Jesus knees, and called Jesus  the Lord, no more Master; and said to him, “Depart from me; for I am a sinful man. O Lord.”But others were still astonishing at the draught of the fishes which they had taken. What a good comparison it is! Peter astonished at Lord Jesus; others were astonishing at the miracle itself. Even nowadays, there are two different kinds of people in the church of God. Someone is willing to obey the word of God; and experience miracles through the manifestation of the word of God so that they find themselves as sinners before the Lord that brings the miracle. They finally repent sins to be born again through the life in the Holy Ghost. But others are only astonishing at the miracle itself, and looking for the miracles instead of the Lord Jesus that bring forth the miracle. Jesus spoke unto the crowd five thousand men that were fed with bread and fishes by the Lord, when they were looking for him next day: “Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.  Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.”(John 6:26, 27)

Then Jesus was going to give them the word of life. Even some of his disciples murmured at him and said to him, this is a hard saying; who can hear it?”(John 6:60); and they departed Jesus. At that moment, Jesus said to them, “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”(John 6:63)

       Yea! All the words of God are “spirit and life” (John 6:63). In other word, the word of God has the power of creation, even though it is invisible, whenever we obey his words. Even nowadays, God is speaking unto them that enter into the church. He gives proper word unto everyone, as he said to Simon Peter. God still is speaking unto them that have failed in the world, even though they had done the best for their own knowledge. Then we should obey his word, saying as Simon Peter, “I have not achieved anything in vain with my best try, but I will do at your word given unto me. Then they shall understand how miserable sinners themselves standing before the Lord. They that meet the Lord, and confess themselves as sinners are to follow Jesus the Lord. Henceforth, they shall be able to catch men departing from the lust of the world setting up their goal of life. In other word, they shall be able to present their bodies a living sacrifice to please God understanding the will of God, knowing that God wants to save all men and let them come unto the knowledge of the truth (1Tim. 2:4) And they shall see the miracles in their life through faith in the word of the Lord, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”(Matt. 6:33) Apostle Paul encouraged to Timothy saying, “ Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.” Amen! Hallelujah!
