금주의 묵상: 시편 3:1-8

본문: 고린도후서 5:1-10

제목: 누구를 믿음으로 사는가?

        세상에 사는 모든 사람은 각자 자기 나름대로 믿을 가지고 살고 있다. 누구나 잠자리에 들 때에는 다음 날 아침에 건강한 몸으로 다시 깨어날 것을 믿음으로 아무런 다른 생각 없이 편안한 마음으로 잠이 든다. 그러나 사실은 어느누구도 다음 날 아침에 일어날 수 있다고는 장담할 수 없으며 많은 사람들이 잠자다가 세상을 떠나는 것을 본다. 사실 이 믿음은 자기 자신을 신뢰하는 믿음에서 비롯된 것이다. 그러나 하나님을 믿었던 다윗 왕은 하나님께 기도할 때에 "내가 누워 자고 또 깨었으니 이는 주께서 나를 붙드심이라."(시 3:5)고 고백함으로써 그는 가장 작은 일부터 하나님을 신뢰하는 믿음으로 살았던 것이다.

        그렇다! 오늘 본문에서 사도 바울은 거듭남으로 하나님의 자녀가 된 그리스도인들을 향하여 "이는 우리가 믿음으로 행하고 보는 것으로 하지 아니함이라."(7절)고 증거하고 있다. 다시 말해서 하나님의 자녀들은 하나님께서 예비해 놓으신 영원한 것을 확실히 믿음으로 이 세상을 살아간다는 것이다. 아무리 이 세상에서 어려움을 당할지라도 하나님께서 예비해 놓으신 영원한 집을 믿음으로써 세상을 이기고 살아갈 수 있다는 믿음의 증거인 것이다. 그런데, 이 믿음은 자신의 생각으로부터 나온 것이 아니고 하나님을 믿음으로써 나온 믿음이라는 것이다. 비록 육안으로는 보이지 않으나 육안으로 보는 것보다 더 확실한 믿음의 눈으로 볼 수 있음으로써 나오는 믿음인 것이다.

        세상 사람들은 막연한 자신의 마음 속에 있는 나름대로의 신념을 따라 살면서 자신에게 항상 내일 아침도 보장될 것을 믿음으로 살다가 어느날 그 믿음이 틀린 것을 자신과 다른 사람들에게 알게 하면서 호흡이 끊어지는 삶을 살고 있는 것이다. 그러나 하나님을 믿는 사람은 잠자리에 들 때나 자신의 호흡이 다 할 때에라도 하나님께서 예비하신 것을 믿음으로 바라보면서 평안 가운데 살게 되는 것이다.

        본문에서 사도 바울은 육신의 장막이 무너진 후에 있을 영원한 집에 대한 믿음을 증거하고 있는 것이다. 이 죄악 세상에서 신음하며 고난 중에 살다가 죽을지라도 그의 죽음이 오히려 영원한 생명에 의하여 삼켜짐으로써 영원한 집에 살 것에 대한 믿음으로 살고 있음을 증거하고 있는 것이다. 그의 믿음은 육신이 죽는 것이 아니라 육신이 죽는 순간 생명의 옷으로 입혀질 것을 믿기에 그에게 죽음은 오히려 축복의 순간이 될 것이라고 증거하고 있는 것이다. 그는 그의 믿음을 이상하게 여기는 사람들을 향하여 "만일 우리가 미쳤어도 하나님을 위한 것이요, 정신이 온전하여도 너희를 위한 것이라."(고후 5:13)고 말하고 있다.

       그가 무엇을 말하려고 하는 것인가? 하나님을 믿지 않고 사는 사람들은 이 세상에 있는 것들, 즉 육신의 정욕, 안목의 정욕 그리고 이생의 자랑에 미쳤든가, 아니면 자신에 미쳐서 확실하지도 않은 것, 다시 말해서 진리가 아닌 이 세상 것을 믿거나 자신이 세상에서 배우고 경험한 것들을 토대로 하여 자신만을 믿고 자신에 미쳐서 살든가 둘 중에 하나라는 것이다.

        사도 바울은 자신이 어떻게 하나님을 믿음으로 살면서 육신의 목숨이 끝날 때에 영원한 생명으로 옷입을 것을 믿게 되었는지에 대하여, "이제 이것은 또한 우리에게 이루신 분은 하나님이시며 그분께서는 또한 우리에게 성령의 보증을 주셨느니라."(5절)고 분명하게 증거했다. 그러기에 그는 항상 이 믿음 가운데 자신에 차 있음으로 인해 정녕 몸에서 떠나, 다시 말해서 육신이 죽어서 주와 함께 있는 것을 더 원하면서 살면서 자신이 육신 안에 사는 동안 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 일에 대하여만 관심을 가지고 살았던 것이다. 그러므로 그는 "이 때문에 우리가 애쓰는 것은 거하든지 떠나 있든지 그분을 기쁘시게 해 드리기를 바라는 것이라."(9절)고 증거했다.

       한편, 사도 바울은 우리 앞에 있는 아주 중요한 일에 대하여 증거하고 있으며, 이 때문에 그는 살아 있을 때에 자신을 기쁘게 하는 삶을 살지 않고 하나님만을 기쁘시게 하는 삶을 산다고 증거하고 있다. 성령으로 거듭나서 영원한 생명을 받았을지라도 육신의 장막을 벗는 순간, 또는 주님이 오실 때에 살아있다가 죽을 몸이 죽지 않고 썩지 않는 몸으로 변화되는 부활체로 변화되는 그리스도의 날(휴거의 날)(고전 15:51-53)에 모두가 반드시 그리스도의 심판석 앞에 나아가서 선이든지 악이든지 각자가가 자기가 행한 것에 따라, 자기 몸으로 행한 것들을 받을 것에 대하여 분명하게 증거하고 있는 것이다.

        이 그리스도의 심판석에 대하여는 고린도교회에 보낸 첫 번째 편지에서 자세하게 증거했다:  "내게 주신 하나님의 은헤에 따라 내가 현명한 건축가와 같이 기초를 닦았더니 다른 사람이 그 위에 지으니라. 그러나 각 사람은 그 위에다 어떻게 지을지 주의해야 할 것이라. 이 닦아 놓은 기초 위에 아무도 다른 기초를 놓을 수 없나니 이 기초는 예수 그리스도시라. 이제 누그든지 이 기초 위에 금이나 은이나 보석이나 나무나 짚이나 그루터기로 지으면 각 사람이 일한 것이 나타나게 되리니 그 날이 그것을 밝힐 것이라. 이는 그것이 불로써 드러나고 또 그 불은 각 사람의 일한 것이 어떤 종류인지를 시험할 것이기 때문이라. 만일 어떤 사람의 일한 것이 세운 그대로 있으면 그는 상을 받을 것이요, 만일 어떤 사람의 일한 것이 불타 버리면 그는 손해를 당하리라. 그러나 그 자신은 구원을 받게 되지만 불에 의해서인 것처럼 그렇게 되리라. ."(고전 3:10-15)

       그렇다! 하나님의 영을 받아 영원한 생명의 보증을 이미 받은 사람들은 두려움과 떨림으로 그리스도의 심판석에 나아갈 준비를 해야 하는 것이다. 구원을 받아 영원한 생명을 받았기에 이제부터는 주님을 만날 때에 주님으로부터 받을 상을 준비하라는 메세지를 우리에게 주고 있는 것이다. 이 세상에서 썩고 불타버릴 것들을 위하여 살지 말라는 것이다. 처음 세 가지 재료는 불타지 않을 것들을 말하며 뒤에 세 가지는 불타버맇 재료들을 말씀하고 있는 것이다. 일찌기 예수님께서도 유대인들에게 "썩는 음식을 위하여 일하지 말고 영생에 이르는 음식을 위하여 일하라."(요 6:27)고 말씀하셨다.

         구원받아 영원한 생명을 받는 것은 순전히 예수 그리스도(기초)를 믿는 믿음을 통하여 은혜로 되지만(엡 2:8,9) 상급은 몸으로 행한 대로 받는 것이다. 주님께서도 "보라, 내가 속히 오리니 내가 줄 상이 내게 있어 각 사람에게 그의 행위에 따라 주리라."(계 22:12)고 말씀하셨다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 3:1-8

Main scripture: 2Corinthians 5:1-10

Subject: Are you walking by faith? Of God? Or of somebody else?

       All the people living in the world are walking by faith. Whenever they go to bed, they sleep in peace believing of waking up in health next morning. But, as a matter of fact, no one can be sure to wake up next morning; actually many people die in the midst of sleep. Their faith is form trusting in themselves. King David confessed to God when he prayed to him: "I laid me down and slept: I awaked: for the LORD sustained me."(Ps. 3:5) He lived by faith in the LORD in everything starting from little things.

       Yea! In the main passage, Apostle Paul is testifying toward Christians that are the children of God: "For we walk by faith, not by sight."(2Cor. 5:7) In other word, the children of God are walking by sure faith of the eternal things preserved by God in the world. However they may be in trouble in this world, they overcome the world by the faith of eternal building of God, an house not made  with hands, eternal in heaven. This faith is not from their thoughts, but from faith of God. This faith is from the sight of faith, even though it is impossible to see by physical eyes.

       Natural men in the world are walking by their self confidence in their mind believing themselves to wake up in the morning; all of sudden, some day their faith is to be wrong unto them as well as others when their breath in the nose ceases.  But the believers in God are walking in peace looking forward the thing reserved by God for them whenever they go to bed or to give up their breath.

       In the main passage, Apostle Paul testifies of his faith of the eternal building in heaven after our earthly house of this  tabernacle were dissolved. Even though he groans to die in troubles in the wicked world, his death shall be swallowed up of life to live in the eternal dwelling in heaven. His death means to be clothed by eternal life, therefore his death shall be blessing. He testified toward them that don't believe in his faith: "For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause."(2Cor. 5:13)

        What he was talking about unto them? They that not believe in God must be crazy for the things in the world, that are the lust of the flesh, the lust of sight and the pride of life, or crazy for themselves based on what they learn and experience.

       Apostle Paul also testified how he could believe in God that shall clothes him with the life eternal when he finish the earthly life: "Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit."(v5) Therefore he was always confident, knowing that, while he was at home in the body. And he was confident, and he was willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Therefore he testified: "Wherefore he labored, that, whether present or absent, he may be accepted of him."(v9)

       Now, Apostle Paul testifies of the very important thing before us. This was the reason why he gave up to please himself, but only to please God. Even though we are born again of the Spirit, and received the eternal life through the Holy Ghost,  we have to stand before the judgment seat of Christ whenever we put off the earthly tabernacle or we are changed into the immortal and incorruptible body in the day of Christ(Rapture); and everyone may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

         Apostle Paul testified of the judgment seat of Christ more in details in the first epistle to the Corinthians: "According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire."(1Cor. 3:10-15)

       Yea! Whosoever received the earnest of the Spirit through the Holy Ghost is supposed to come forward to the judgment seat of Christ with fear and trembling. He is already saved unto the eternal life; therefore he should be ready to receive the reward from the Lord. This is the message given unto us today. In other word, Apostle Paul encourages us not to live for the things corruptible and burning in the world. The first three materials are the things not to be burnt by fire; and the second three are to be burnt. Jesus also spoke to the Jews: "labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life."(John 6:27)

       Our salvation is only through the grace of Jesus Christ (the foundation) through the faith in him (Eph. 2:8,9), but the reward is according to our labour done by our body. Let us remember the word of the Lord Jesus spoken to Apostle John: "And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be."(Rev. 22:12) Amen! Hallelujah!
