금주의 묵상: 시편 63:1-11

본문: 욥기 38:1-41

제목: 극심한 고난 후에 하나님을 만난 욥

        하나님께서 욥에게 극심한 고난을 허락하신 후 그를 찾아온 세 친구들이 욥에게 한 말과 욥이 대답하는 말을 들으신 후에 마침내 욥에게 나타나셔서 말씀하신다. 욥의 세 친구들은 나름대로 자신들이 아는 지식을 욥에게 쏟아놓으면서 자신들이 하나님과 아주 가까운 존재인양하고 있다. 그러나 그들은 하나님을 만나본 적이 없이 들은 것들만 가지고 마치 자신들이 하나님과 아주 가까운 존재인양 욥을 정죄하기까지 한다. 그들은 하나님께서 욥을 당대에 가장 의로은 자로 여기셨으며 그가 끝까지 하나님을 부인하지 않을 것을 미리 아시고(롬 8:29) 사단에게 극심한 고난을 주도록 허락하신 것을 모른다. 그러나 욥의 세 친구들은 자신들이 어떤 존재인지도 모르고 있으며 또한 하나님께서 욥에게 고난을 허락하신 연유를 전혀 알지 못하고 있다. 그러면서 그들은 자기 마음대로 생각하여 욥을 판단하면서 그에게 고통을 더해 주고 있는 것이다.

         지난 육천년 동안 하나님께서는 침묵하고 계신다. 사람들이 어떤 말을 지껄이든지 그냥 침묵하고 계신다. 수많은 사람들이 겁도 없이 하나님에 대하여 말을 하고 판단하고 심지어는 "하나님은 죽었다."고까지 말하기도 하고, 하나님이 있다면 세상이 왜 이렇게 블공평하고 악한 자들이 득세할 수 있을까 등등 자기 나름대로 하나님에 대하여 판단하는 말들을 한다. 그래도 하나님은 여전히 침묵하고 계신다. 그들이 호흡이 끊어져서 죽는 그 순간까지도 마음대로 생각하고 말하다 죽어간다. 뿐만 아니라 다른 사람들에 대하여도 욥의 친구들처럼 마음대로 판단하고 마음대로 정죄하고 상처를 주면서 살고 있으면서도 하나님께서 침묵하시니 별 마음에 가책 없이 계속하는 삶을 살고 있는 것이다.  이것은 비단 세상 사람들만이 아니라 하나님의 교회라고 일컫는 곳에서까지 동일한 일들이 자행되고 있는 것이다.

       그래서 성경은 지구상에 살고 있는 사람들을 향하여 그들이 어떤 존재인지 여러가지로 말씀하신다. 그들은 풀과 같고 그들의 영광은 풀의 꽃과 같고, 또한 그들은 메뚜기같은 존재이며, 진토같은 존재이며 심지어는 땅에 널려진 똥같다고까지 말씀하신다. 그렇게 말씀하셔도 그들은 들을 수가 없는 것이다. 그러면서도 그들은 자신들이 하나님을 안다고 말한다. 그들에게 물어보면 하나님은 전지전능(全知全能)하시며 무소부재(無所不在)한 분이라고 말하며 또한 천지를 창조하신 하나님이라고 말한다. 그들이 이렇게 말하는 것은 단지 들은 정보들을 머리에 넣어두었다가 필요할 때마다 다른 사람들에게 자신이 하나님과 아주 가까운 존재임을 나타내기 위하여 사용한다. 그러나 그들이 진정으로 하나님이 전능하시고 전지하시고 전재하시는 창조주 하나님이심을 알고 있는 것일까? 그들이 진정으로 알고 있다면 그들이 행하는 열매를 보면 쉽게 알 수 있건만 그들의 열매와 그들이 말하는 것이 정반대일진대 하나님께서 웃으실 수밖에 없는 것이다.

        욥은 당대에 하나님께서 인정하시는 의인이었지만 그 역시 여전히 하나님을 알지 못했다. 그가 보이지 않는 하나님을 어떻게 알 수 있었겠는가? 그 당시에는 기록된 어떤 하나님의 말씀도 없었고 다만 구전으로 전해내려오는 말만 들었을진대 욥이 하나님을 알 수 있는 기회가 있을 수 없었던 것이다.  그 당시 어느누구도 마찬가지였을 것이다. 이 세상에 살고 있는 모든 죄인들은 하나님께서 찾아오시지 않으면 그 어느누구도 하나님을 알 수 없는 벌레같은 존재인 것이다.

         마침내 욥은 하나님의 허락하심 속에서 모든 소유물들과 자녀들과 아내까지 모두 잃어버리고 심지어 자신의 몸에는 욕창이 나서 문둥병자처럼 되어 이 세상에서 호흡하며 살 이유가 전혀 없는 존재가 되어버린 자신을 발견하게 된다. 이제는 친구들 마져도 더 이상 의지할 수 없는 그야말로 천상천하 유아독존하는 신세가 된 것이다. 그때 주께서 회오리바람 속에서 욥에게 나타나셔서 말씀하신다. 하나님께서는 욥에게 책망히면서 질문을 퍼부으신다:

 "지식이 없는 말로 이치를 어둡게 하는 이자가 누구냐? 너는 이제 남자답게 허리를 동이라. 내가 너에게 요구할 것이니 내게 대답하라."(욥 38:2,3)

       우선 먼저 하나님께서는 자신이 그가 살고 있는 지구를 창조하실 때 그가 어디 있었는지, 그 치수가 얼마인지, 기초들과 모퉁이 돌은 누가 놓았는지, 새벽별들과 하나님의 아들들이 기뻐하는 광경을 보았는지, ……바다의 샘들 속으로 들어가 보았는지, 빛과 흑암의 장소가 어디인지, 눈의 보고와 우박의 보고를 보았는지, 깊음의 표면이 얼어있는 것을 보았는지, 그가 플라에데스 성단의 아름다움 감응력을 묶을 수 잇으며 오리온의 띠를 풀 수 있는지, 까마귀 새끼들이 하나님께 울부짖고 먹이가 없어 방황할 때 누가 그 까마귀를 위하여 그의 먹을 것을 마련해 주는지…등등…물으셨지만 욥은 한 마디도 대답할 수 없었다.

       그때 욥이 마침내 하나님께 고백한다:  "보소서, 나는 악하오니 내가 무엇을 주께 대답하리이까? 내가 내 손으로 내 입을 가리겠나이다. 한 번 내가 말하였으나 대답하지 아니할 것이며 실로 두 번 말하였으나 더 이상 하지 않겠나이다."(욥 40:4,5) 하나님께서는 그의 악함을 깨달은 욥에게 다시 나타나셔서 계속해서 말씀하신다. 이때에 욥이 다시 하나님께 고백한다:

 "지식 없이 이치를 가리는 자가 누구니이까? 그러므로 나는 깨닫지 못한 것을 말하였으니 그것들은 내게 너무 경이로워서 내가 알지 못하였나이다. 내가 간구하오니 내개 들으소서. 내가 말하겠나이다. 내가 주께 묻겠사오니, 나로 알게 하소서. 내가 주께 대하여 귀로만 들었사오나 이제는 내가 눈으로 주를 보나이다. 그러므로 내가 나를 미워하고 티끌과 재 속에서 회개하나이다."(욥 42:3-6)

         욥이 아무런 고난도 없이 자녀들과 살다가 죽었다면 그는 하나님을 만날 수 없었을 것이다. 육신의 편안함은 하나님을 찾지도 알려고 하지도 않는 것이 죄의 몸을 가지고 태어난 죄인들의 속성인 것이다. 수많은 고난을 당했던 다윗 왕 역시 "내 혼이 진토에 붙어있으니 주의 말씀대로 소생시키소서…내가 고난당하기 전에는 길을 잃었으나 이제는 주의 말씀을 지키나이다….내가 고난 당한 것이 내게 좋사오니 이는 내가 주의 규례들을 배우기 때문이니이다. 주의 입의 법이 내게는 수천의 금과 은보다 낫나이다."(시 119:25,67,71,72)라고 고백했다.

       그렇다! 죄인들이 고난 당하기 전에는 자신이 얼마나 비참한 존재인지 알 수 없고 자신이 얼마나 악한 존재인지도 알 수 없는 것이다 (렘 17:9). 지금도 교회 안에는 많은 욥들과 많은 욥의 친구들이 함께 모여있는 것이다. 자금도 욥기에 기록된 일들이 여전히 계속되고 있는 것이다. 우리는 욥의 고백 사운데서 아주 중요한 말을 기억해야 할 것이다. 욥이 회개한 것은  "내가 깨닫지 못한 것을 말하였으니" (욥 42:3)라고 회개한 것이다. 그렇다! 하나님의 말씀을 깨달았는가? 깨달은 것을 말하고 있는가? 아니면 들은 것을 말하고 있는가? 욥의 친구들인가? 아니면 욥처럼 고난을 받고 있는가? 욥처럼 회개했는가? 하나님께서는 성경말씀을 통하여 성령 안에서 나타나셔서 우리에 말씀하고 계신다. 하나님께서는 지금도 욥기에 나타난 말씀들을 우리들에게도 말씀하고 계신다. 그 말씀들을 듣고 하나님께 대답할 수 있는가? 아니면 자신이 악함을 깨닫고 회개하겠는가? 호흡이 끊어지기 전에 대답하든가 회개하든가 둘 중에 하나를 택해야 할 것이다. 사도 바울은 이에 관련하여 증거했다:  "하나님께서는 모든 사람이 구원을 받고 진리의 지식에 이르기를 원하시느니라."(딤전 2:4)  

솔로몬 왕은 "전체의 결론을 들을지니, 하나님을 두려워하고, 그의 계명들을 지키라. 이것이 사람의 모든 의무니, 이는 하나님께서 선이든 악이든 모든 행위와 모든 은밀한 것들을 심판하실 것임이라."(전 12:14)고 선포했다. 그렇다! 하나님께서는 한 날을 정해 놓으셨다. 그때가 되기전에 하나님의 말씀을 통하여 그분의 음성을 듣고 회개하여 욥처럼 하나님을 만나야 하는 것이다. 지금 우리는 원하기만 하면 성경말씀을 통하여 하나님의 음성을 듣고 하나님을 만날 수 있으며 회개하여 죄사함과 영원한 생명의 축복을 받을 수 있는 것이다. 아멘 ! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: psalms 63:1-11

Main scripture: Job 38:1-41

Subject: Job saw the LORD God after passing through extreme affliction

        God allowed Job to pass through extreme suffering, God appeared to him after he had heard the words of his three friends spoken unto him as well as the answers of Job unto his friends. Job's friends pretends themselves to be very close unto God, and they poured their knowledge of God unto Job. But they have never seen God, but they try to pour what they heard of God, they even try to condemn Job. They never know the will of God for Job neither knowing that God recognizes Job as the most righteous man at that time foreknowing (Rom. 8:29) him that he will not deny God even in extreme suffering from the Satan under the permission of God. But Job' friends never know of themselves nor know the reason why God allowed Job to be such suffering. They judge Job according to their thoughts even giving more pain unto him.

       For the past six thousand years in human history, God has been in silence even though men utters any words unto him. So many people have been saying against God in rudeness even judging God , and someone said, "God is dead." many people still complaining against God saying there is no God because nothing is fair in this world complaining against wicked people in prosperity with richness and so on. But God is still keeping silence. They continue to say what they want to say until they give up their breath in their nostrils unto death. They also like judge other people and condemn them as Job's friends without any guilty feeling for God is keeping silence. This kind things are going on not only in the world, but also even in the churches of God.

       Therefore the scriptures speak unto them that live on the earth in various way; they are like grass, and their glory as the flower of grass, and also as locusts, and as the dusts, and even they are like dung spread out in the earth. But they don't have the ears to hear the word of God. But they are still saying that they know God. They used to say that God is Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient, and God is the Creator of heaven and earth. They use this kinds of information in their head whenever they need to teach other people to show up their knowledge of God pretending themselves in so close relationship with God.  But do they know God as what they used to say of God? To examine their fruit of life is the only way to examine them whether they know God as they say. God will laugh at their fruit of life, because God never knows who they are.

       Even though Job was the righteous man recognized by God in his generation, he actually not knew God by himself.  How could he know invisible God? There were not any word of God  in written, but only the words spoken by his fathers from generation to generation. There is no way for anyone to know God, unless God visits them, for all sinners are as worms that cannot understand God.

         Finally, God lost all things that are his belongings, children, even his wife; and even his body turned into as leper so that he lost all the hope for living. He could not trust in his friends anymore. He is totally alone in the earth. Then finally  God appeared to him to speak unto him; and God poured lot of questions rebuking him saying, "Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me."(Job 38:2,3)

       God questioned him saying, "Where wast thou when I laid the foundation of the earth?" Who had laid the measures thereof?" "Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof?" "When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?"….."Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea?" "Where is the way where light is dwelleth? and as for darkness?" "Hast thou entered into the treasures of snow? or hast thou  seen the treasures of  the hail? and face of the deep frozen?" Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the hands of Orion?" "Who provideth for the raven his food" when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat?" and so on. But Jog couldn't answer at all.

       Then Job confessed unto God: "Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth. Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further."(Job 40:4,5)

God appeared to Job again after he understood as a wicked man to continue to speak unto him. Then Job  confessed unto God again saying, Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not. Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me. I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes."(Job 42:3-6)

          If Job had finished his life without any suffering living with his family with happiness, he could not have seen God.  Flesh of man tends not find God nor to know him in comfortable life. This is the character of sinful body of man. Let us hear the confession of David that also passed through so many tribulations: My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.……. Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word….. It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes. The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver."(Ps. 119:25,67,71,72)

       Yea! Sinners never understand how much they are miserable as well as wicked unless they are afflicted (Jer. 17:9). Even nowadays, there are many Jobs as well as many friends of Job in the church of God. Same kinds of things still are going on. How Job repented? He confessed unto God for his repentance saying,

"therefore have I uttered that I understood not."(Job 42:3) 

Yea! Have you understood the word of God? Then, are you speaking what you understood? Or are you speaking what you have heard? Are you as the friends of Job? Or are you are being afflicted as Job? God is still speaking unto us appearing in the Spirit. Can you answer God upon hearing the word of God? Or are you going to repent understanding your wickedness as Job?

We have to make choice whether we answer God or repent before we finish our life.  Apostle Paul testified related to this:

"Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth."(1Tim. 2:4)

King Solomon also declared saying,  "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil."(Eccl. 12:13,14)

Yea! God has set a day for the judgment. Before the day, we have to be able to hear his voice through the words of God so that we may repent and see the Lord God as Job. Now, if we want, we can hear the voice of God, and see the Lord, and  repent for the remission of sins to receive eternal life. Amen! hallelujah!
