금주의 묵상: 시편 1;1-6

본문: 디모데전서 6:3-21

제목: 영원한 생명을 붙잡으라!

       사도 바울은 그의 영적인 아들 디모데 목회자에게 마지막으로 남긴 아주 중요한 유언이 본문에 나타나 있다.

       첫째로, 건전한 주 예수 그리스도의 말씀과 경건에 따른 교리에 일치하지 않게 가르치는 사람들과 교제하지 말고 그들 가운데서 빠져 나오라는 것이다. 그 이유에 대하여 그들은 교만해서 실상은 아무 것도 모르는 자들이며 질문과 언쟁만을 좋아하며 시기와 다툼과 악담과 사악한 의심이 생겨나게 하며 마음이 부패하고, 진리를 상실하며, 물질적인 이익이 경건이라고 생각하는 자들이라는 것이다. 다시 말해서 물질적으로 번영하는 사람이 경건한 그리스도인인 증거라는  교리를 주장하는 자들이라는 것이다.

      둘째로, 사도 바울은 참된 경건한 삶에 대하여, 먹을 것과 입을 것이 있으면 이것들로 만족할 줄 아는 것이라는 주 예수 그리스도의 교리를 가르치고 있는 것이다. 예수님께서 세상에 육신으로 계실 때에 유대인들이게 "그러므로 내일을 위하여 염려하지 말라. 내일 일은 내일 염려할 것이요, 그 날의 재앙은 그 날로 충분하니라."(마 6:34)고 말씀하셨다.

      셋째로, 경건한 삶을 방해하는 시험에 대하여, 부유하게 되고자 하는 유혹과 올무와 여러가지 어리석고 해로운 정욕에 빠지게 되어 파멸과 멸망에 빠지게 되어 옛날 에덴 동산에서 육신의 정욕과 안목의 정욕과 생의 자랑을 부추기는 뱀의 유혹을 이기지 못하여 사단의 종이 되었던 비참한 역사를 상기시키고 있는 것이다. 오늘날 동일한 뱀인 사단은 하나님의 교회의 양떼들이 돈을 사랑하게 유혹하여 믿음에서 떠나 방황하게 하다가 결국에는 슬픔으로 자신을 찌르게 한다는 사실을 경고하고 있는 것이다.

       넷째로, 사도 바울은 마지막으로 아들 디모데에게, "오, 하나님의 사람인 너는 이것들을 피하라. 그리고 의와 경건과 믿음과 사랑과 인내와 온유를 추구하라. 믿음의 선한 싸움을 싸우라. 영원한 생명을 붙잡으라. 이를 위하여 네가 또한 부르심을 받았고, 많은 증인들 앞에서 선한 고백으로 고백하였느니라."(딤전 6:11,12)고 격려했다.

       또한 영원한 생명을 붙들기 위하여 살아야 할 삶에 대하여 구체적으로 목회자 디모데에게 설명하면서 엄히 명령하고 있다.

       첫째로, 주 예수 그리스도께서 나타나실 때까지, 다시 말해서 유일하하신 통치자시며 만왕의 왕이시며 만주의 주이신 그리스도께서 공중에 나타나실 때까지 흠없고 책망받을 것도 없이 위에서 말한 명령들을 지키라고 명하고 있으며 이 말씀은 마지막 때에 살고 있는 우리 모두에게 주시는 경고의 말씀이기도 한 것이다.

      둘째로, 디모데 자신뿐만 아니라 이 세상에 부유한 자들에게 명하여 마음이 교만해지지 말고 불확실한 재물에 소망을 두지 말며, 오직 우리에게 모든 것을 풍요하게 주셔서 향유케 하시는 살아계신 하나님께 두라고 말하라는 것이다. 우리의 권면을 통하여 그들이 선한 일에 부요하며, 기꺼이 나누어 주고, 아낌없이 베풂으로써, 자신들을 위하여 오는 때를 대비한 좋은 기초를 쌓도록 하기 위함이며, 그들 또한 이러한 삶 속에서 주 예수 그리스도를 만나 영원한 생명을 붙들게 하려함이라고 말씀하고 있는 것이다. 옛날 로마 백부장 고넬료는 하나님도 모르며 예수님도 몰랐지만, 그가 온 집안과 더불어 하나님을 두려워하며 백성들을 많이 구제하며 하나님께 항상 기도하고 있을 때에 하나님께서 그의  천사를 보내시어 그의 기도와 구제가 하나님 앞에 이르러 기억함이 되었다는 응답을 주셨다. 또한 사도 베드로를 보내시어 그의 모든 가족들이 주 예수 그리스도의 복음을 듣고 한 날에 모든 가족들이 영원한 생명을 붙잡게 되었던 것이다(행 10:1-48).

     마지막으로 사도 바울은 목회자 디모데에게 목회자로서 반드시 가져야 할 지혜에 대하여 말씀하고 있다. 그에게 맡겨진 것을 지키고, 비속하고 허황된 말장안과 거짓되이 일컬어지는 과학의 반론을 피할 것인 바 이러한 것들을 주장하는 사람은 믿음에 관해서는 정도를 벗어난 자들임을 말하면서 끝으로 은혜가 항상 그에게 함께 있을 것을 기도하였다.

       회개하고 주 예수 그리스도를 믿어 죄사함을 받은 사람은 하나님의 성령을 마심으로써 영원한 생명을 이미 받은 사람인 것이다. 사도 바울은 고린도 교회 성도들에게 편지할 때에, "몸은 하나인데 많은 지체가 있고 한 몸에 지체는 많아도 모두 한 몸인 것처럼 그리스도께서도 그러하시니라. 유대인이나 이방인이나, 종이나 자유인이나 한 성령에 의하여 우리 모두가 한 몸 안으로 침례를 받았으며 또 모두가 한 성령 안으로 마시게 되었느니라."(고전 12:12, 13)고 증거했다.

        첫 사람 아담의 몸 흙으로 만드시고 하나님께서 그의 콧구멍에다 생명의 호흡을  불어넣으셨을 때 살아있는 혼이 되었다(창 2:7). 그러나 그가 범죄하였을 때 하나님의 생명의 호흡이 떠나게 되어 그의 영이 죽게 되었다. 이로 인하여 그의 몸이 늙어가다가 구백삼십 년 후에 몸까지 죽게 되었던 것이다. 수천년 전에 하나님의 사람이었던 욥은 "내 호흡이 내 안에 있고 하나님의 영이 내 콧구멍에 있는 동안에는 내 입술이 악을 말하지 아니하고 내 혀가 속임수를 말하지 아니하리라."(욥 27:3, 4)고 고백했다.

     그렇다!  주 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 이 땅에 오신 성령께서는 누구든지 하나님을 두려워함으로 겸손한 자들에게 복음을 듣게 하시어 회개케 하셔서 주 예수 그리스도를 마음으로 영접할 때에 그의 콧구멍을 통하여 하나님의 영을 물어넣으셔서 영원한 생명의 영을 마시게 하셔서 영원한 생명을 주시는 것이다. 또한 하나님의 말씀으로 양육받게 하셔서 미혹하는 사단의 유혹을 이기고 믿음의 선한 싸움을 싸우며 하나님께서 주신 영원한 생명을 붙잡고 경건한 삶을 살게 하시는 것이다. 이를 위하여 하나님의 교회를 세우시고 주 예수 그리스도께서 친히 머리가 되시고, 또한 세우신 목회자를은 하나님의 양떼들이 의와 경건과 믿음과 사랑과 인내와 온유를 추구하면서 믿음의 선한 싸움을 싸우면서 하나님께서 주신 영원한 생명을 끝까지 붙잡으면서 성령충만한 삶을 살도록 하시는 것이다.

       사도 요한도 이 영원한 생명에 대하여, "또 증거는 이것이니, 하나님께서 우리에게 영생을 주신 것과, 이 생명이 그의 아들 안에 있다는 것이라. 그 아들이 있는 자는 생명이 있고 하나님의 아들이 없는 자는 생명이 없느니라. 내가 하나님의 아들의 이름을 믿는 너희에게 이런 것들을 씀은 너희에게 영생이 있음을 알게 하려함이며, 또한 너희가 하나님의 아들의 이름을 믿도록 하려 함이라."(요일 5:11-13)고 증거했다.

       예수님께서 니고데모에게 사람이 성령을 받아 거듭나서 영원한 생명을 받는 일에 대하여, "진실로 진실로 내가 너에게 말하노니, 사람이 물과 성령으로 태어나지 아니하면 하나님의 나라에 들어갈 수 없느니라. 육신으로 난 것은 육이요, 또 성령으로 난 것은 영이니라. 내가 너에게 '너희는 거듭나야만 한다.'고 말한 것을 이상히 여기지 말라. 바람이 임으로 불어서 네가 그 소리를 들어도 어디서 와서 어디로 가는지 알지 못하듯이 성령으로 난 사람은 모두 그와 같으니라."(요 3:5-8)

        그렇다! 지금도 성령께서는 죄인임을 깨닫고 예수 그리스도를 믿기만 하면 바람처럼 그에게 임하여 그의 콧구멍 속으로 들어가셔서 자신도 모르는 사이에 그의 영을 거듭나게 하셔서 영원한 생명을 주시는 것이다. 단 한 가지 세상 죄를 이미 용서하시고 제거하신 그분 예수 그리스도를 믿지 않은 죄를 회개만 하면 모든 죄를 용서받는 동시에 첫 사람에게서 떠났던 하나님의 생명의 호흡을 불어넣으시어 영원한 생명을 주시고 주님께서 오시는 날까지 말씀 안에 거하면서 주신 영원한 생명을 붙잡는 경건한 삶을 살기를 원하시는 것이다.

사도 바울은 영원한 생명을 받은 골로새 교회 성도들에게 이렇게 권면했다: "그러므로 너희가 그리스도와 함께 살아났으면 위에 있는 것을 구하라. 거기에는 그리스도께서 하나님의 오른 편에 앉아 계시느니라. 위에 있는 것들에 너희 마음을 두고 땅에 있는 것들에 마음을 두지 말라. 이는 너희가 죽었고 또 너희의 생명이 그리스도와 함께 하나님 안에 감추어졌기 때문이라. 우리의 생명이신 그리스도께서 나타나실 때 그때 너희도 그와 함께 영광 중에 나타날 것이라."(골 3:1-4) 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation 0f the week: Psalms 1:1-6

Main scripture: 1Timothy 6:3-21

Subject: Lay hold on eternal life!

       In the main passage, there is an very important final word of Apostle Paul given unto Timothy, his spiritual son and a pastor.

     Firstly, If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ and to the doctrine which is according to godliness, he has to withdraw out of them; because he is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmising, perverse disputing of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness. In other word, such kind of man insists wrong doctrine of godliness that is material prosperity.

      Secondly, Apostle Paul teaches about true godliness saying, godliness with contentment is great gain; having food and raiment let us therewith content. Jesus Christ also gave the same message unto the Jews saying,

"Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof."(Matt. 6:34)

       Thirdly, about temptation against godly life, they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which many sorrow; he reminds of the miserable history that happened in Eden. The first man was defeated by the serpent that tempted his lust of flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life so that he became the servant of Satan. Even nowadays the same serpent, the Satan is tempting the sheep in the church of God for them to love money, and to have erred from the faith, and to have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

       Fourthly, finally, Apostle Paul encouraged his son, Timothy saying,

"But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses."(1Tim. 6:11,12)

       And Apostle Paul explained about the life to hold on eternal life in details, and commanded him strictly:

       Firstly, until the Lord Jesus Christ appears, in other word, the only Potentate, the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords appears in the air, he is commanded to be without spot, unrebukeable. This is the same message of warning unto us also living  in the end time.

       Secondly, not only for Timothy, Apostle Paul commanded him to charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high minded, not trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; that they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. Cornelius, a Roman centurion didn't know God as well as Jesus Christ personally; but he feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always. God sent his angel to him to deliver the answer of his prayers and his alms that were come up for a memorial before God. God also sent Apostle Peter to his house so that all his household heard the gospel of Jesus Christ, and all his house to be saved, and hold on eternal life in the same day (Acts 10:1-48).

        Finally, Apostle Paul said to Timothy for him to have the wisdom as a pastor so that he may keep that which is committed to his trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called, for some that profess have erred concerning the faith. Finally,  Apostle Paul prayed for Timothy,  grace be with him.

       Whosoever repent to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and receive the remission of sins  have already received the eternal life through drinking the Spirit of God. Apostle Paul spoke unto the saint in the church of Corinthians:

"For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit."(1Cor. 12:12, 13)

       Making the body of the first man with dust, God breathed the breath of life into the nostrils to make him as a living soul (Gen. 2:7). When he sinned, the breath of life left from him to bring forth death unto his spirit. Job, a man of God thousands years ago confessed:

 "All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils; My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit."(Job 27:3, 4)

       Yea! The Holy Ghost whish came to the earth in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ is allowing men that fear God and are humble to hear the gospel of Christ, and repent, and receive the Lord Jesus Christ in their heart; and at the same time, to breathe the Spirit of God into their nostrils so that they may drink the spirit of eternal life. And God allow them to be fed by the words of God so that they may be able to overcome the temptation of Satan, and to fight the good fight of faith, and to hold on eternal life and to have godly life. For this purpose, God built his church making Jesus Christ to be the head of it, and have his pastors to guide the sheep of God for them to follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love patience, meekness, and for them to fight the good fight of faith so that they may hold on eternal life to the end filled with Spirit of God.

       Apostle John testified of eternal life:

 "And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."(1John 5:11-13)

       Jesus also testified to Nicodemus of the eternal life  receiving through born again of the Spirit of God:

 "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit."(John 3:5-8)

       Yea! Even now, the Holy Ghost is willing to come into the nostrils of them as wind that understand themselves sinners, and believe on Jesus Christ to receive the remission of sins so that their spirit is born again of the Spirit to receive  eternal life in their unconsciousness. Only once  repenting the sin that they not believed on Jesus Christ which took away the sin of the world, they receive the forgiveness of sins at the same time, and they receive the breath of life that departed from the first man, that is the eternal life. And God want them to hold on eternal life abiding in the words of God until the Lord Jesus comes.

        Apostle Paul encouraged the saints in Colossian church  that received the eternal life saying,

 "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory."(Col. 3:1-4) Amen! Halleluiah!
