금주의 묵상: 시편 110:1-7

본문: 요한복음 5:24-31

제목: 듣는 자는 살리라!

        하나님이신 주님께서 "진실로, 진실로"라는 말씀으로 시작하여  주시는 말씀은 그야말로 몰라서는 큰 일이 나는 경우들이다. 주님께서 니고데모에게 말씀 하실 때에도 "진실로, 진실로, 내가 너에게 말하노니, 사람이 거듭나지 아니하면 하나님의 나라를 볼 수 없느니라…..사람이 물과 성령으로 나지 아니하면 하나님의 나라에 들어갈 수 없느니라."(요 3:3,5)고 말씀하심으로써 거듭나지 아니하면 하나님의 나라가 아닌 다른 곳으로 갈 것이기 때문에 반드시 거듭나야 한다고 말씀하신 것이다.

       오늘 본문에서도 주님께서는 자신의 말을 믿지 않는 유대인들을 향하여 다시 한 번  "진실로, 진실로"라고 말씀을 시작하신다. "내 말을 듣고 또 나를 보내신 분을 믿는 자는 영생을 얻고, 정죄에 이르지 아니할 것이며, 사망에서 생명으로 옮겨지느니라."(요 5:24)고 말씀하신다. 다시 말해서 예수께서 하시는 말씀을 듣고 동시에 그의 보내신 분 아버지 하나님을 믿는 자는 영원한 생명을 얻는다고 말씀하신다. 또한 생명을 얻었기에 정죄받지 않을 것이며 주님의 말씀을 듣고 주님을 믿는 순간 사망에서 생명으로 옮겨진다고 말씀하신다.

        다시 한 번 주님께서 "진실로, 진실로"라고 말씀을 시작하신다. "죽은 자들이 하나님의 아들의 음성을 들을 때가 오고 있나니 바로 지금이라. 듣는 자들은 살리라."(요 5:25) 이 구절에서 "바로 지금이라"(and now is)의"지금"이란 "지금 이 순간"이란 뜻만이 아니다. 주님께서 "지금"이란 어휘는 때로는 매우 폭넓은 의미를 갖는다. 주 예수 그리스도께서는 영원토록 사시는 분이시기에 사람처럼 촌각을 다투시는 분이 아니시기 때문이다. 유대인들이 주님께 "네가 아직 오십세도 못되었는데 아브라함을 보았느냐?"고 하였을 때, 주님께서 그들에게 또 다시 "진실로, 진실로"라 말씀하시면서 "아브라함이 나기 전부터 나는 있느니라."(요 8:57,58)고 말씀하셨다. "있었느니라."고 말씀하시지 않으시고 "있느니라."고 현재형을 쓰셨다. 다시 말해서 그들이 자신이 영원히 사시는 하나님이심을 알지 못하면 구원받지 못함을 강조하신 것이다.

        주님께서는 "죽은 자들이 하나님의 아들의 음성을 들을 때가 오고 있나니"라고 말씀하신다. 죽은 자들이 어떻게 하나님의 음성을 들을 수 있단 말인가? 그것은 사람의 생각에 불과한 것이고 주님께서는 그렇다고 말씀하신다. 이 사실은 11장에서 죽은 나사로의 이름을 부르실 때에 그가 살아난 것으로 입증되었다. 사도 요한 이렇게 증거하고 있다: "이 말씀을 하시고 큰 음성으로 외치시기를 '나사로야, 나오너라.'고 하시니 죽었던 자가 손발이 수의로 동여지고 얼굴이 수건으로 가려진 채 나오더라."(요 11:43,44) 또한 사도 바울도 예수 그리스도를 믿고 그리스도 안에서 죽은 자들이 어떻게 주님의 음성을 듣고 살아나는가에 대하여 성령 안에서 앞으로  일어날 일을 증거했다: "주께서 호령과 천사장의 음성과 하나님의 나팔 소리와 함께 하늘로부터 친히 내려오시리니 그러면 그리스도 안에서 죽은 자들이 먼저 일어나고"(살전 4:16)

        주님께서 "듣는 자는 살아나리라."고 말씀하신다. 왜 그런가? 그분의 음성은 생명을 주시는 음성이기에 이 음성을 듣는 자는 살게 된다. 이것은 나사로처럼 육신의 생명뿐만 아니라 영적인 생명에도 그대로 적용된다. 죄 가운데서 영적으로 죽어있는 죄인이 주 예수 그리스도의 음성을 들으면 그 영이 살아나고 혼이 구원받는다(벧전 1:9). 성경을 통하여 세상에 지금 이 시간에도 울려 퍼지는 복음이 곧 주 예수 그리스도의 음성인 것이다.

       하나님 안에는 생명이 있다. 하나님께서는 이 생명을 그분의 창조물들에게 나누어 주신다. 하늘이나 땅 위의 모든 생명체들은 그 생명을 오직 하나님께로부터만 받았다. 이 세상 어떤 것도 그 스스로가 생명을 갖게 된 것은 아무 것도 없다. 생명의 원천은 오직 하나님이시다. 또한 태초부터 말씀으로 계셨고 하나님과 함꼐 만물을 창조하셨던 분이 사람으로 나타나신 분이신 예수님 안에도 생명이 있다. 사도 요한은 "그분 안에 생명이 있었으니 그 생명은 사람들의 빛이라."고 증거했다. 주 예수 그리스도께서는 생명의 근원이라는 점에서도 아버지 하나님과 동등한 분이시다. 예수 그리스도께서는 "나는 생명이다"라고 말씀하신다 (요 14:6).

       "또 아버지께서는 아들에게 심판하는 권세를 주셨으니 이는 그가 인자이심이라."(27절)고 말씀하신다. 하나님의 아들이신 분께서 육신을 입고 오셔서 사람들 가운데 거하시게 되었다. 그러므로 그분께서는 자신을 "인자"라고 말씀하셨다. 이로 인하여 그분께서는 멸시받으셨고 거부되셨으며 그분의 영광이 짓밟히고 말았다. 그렇기 때문에 더더욱 심판하는 권세가 그분께 있어야만 하는 것이다. 멸시받으신 그분께서 지극히 높은 영광과 권위의 자리에서 만물을 심판하셔야만 하는 것이다. 그분께서는 비록 육신을 입고 오셨지만, 그분이야말로 다름아닌 하나님이셨기 때문이다.

       "이를 이상하게 여기자 말라 무덤들 속에 있는 모든 자들이 그의 음성을 들을 때가 오나니 선을 행한 자는 생명의 부활로, 악을 행한 자는 저주의 부활로 나오리라."(28,29절)라고 말씀하신다. 이제는 주 예수 그리스도의 음성을 듣는 자들의 범위가 "무덤들 속에 있는 모든 자들"로 확대되고 있다. 이것은 분명 최후의 심판이 될 "큰 백보좌"(계 20:11)심판 때를 말씀하시는 것이다: "또 내가 큰 백보좌와 그 위에 앉으신 분을 보니, 그의 면전에서 땅과 하늘이 사라졌고 그들의 설 자리도 보이지 않더라. 또 내가 죽은 자들을 보니, 작은 자나 큰 자나 하나님 앞에 서 있는데 책들이 펴져 있으며 또 다른 책도 펴져 있는데 그것은 생명의 책이라. 죽은 자들은 자기들의 행위에 따라 그 책들에 기록된 대로 심판을 받더라."(계 20:11, 12) 구원받지 못한 채 죽었던 죄인들은 말할 것도 없고, 믿음으로 구원받은 교회 시대 성도들을 제외한 모든 시대의 행위로 구원받고 죽은 사람들 역시 주 예수 그리스도의 음성을 듣고 부활하여 "큰 백보좌" 앞에서 심판을 받는데, 이 심판은 이미 판결이 끝난 것을 집행하는 심판이다. 이때에 "생명의 부활"과 "저주의 부활"이 있을 것이다. 주님께서는 이런한 진리를 계시하시면서 "이를 이상히 여기지 말라."고 말씀하신다. 지금 교회 시대에 믿음으로 구원받고 죽어 그리스도 안에서 무덤 속에 잠들어 있던 성도들은 그리스도의 부활과 공중 재림 때 이미 다 부활하여 하늘로 올라간다. "나팔 소리가 나면 죽은 자들이 썩지 아니하는 몸으로 일으켜지며"(고전 15:52)라고 성경은 말씀한다.

        "선을 행한 자"의 "생명의 부활"을 거듭난 그리스도인들과는 상관이 없는 자들이다. 왜냐하면 이들은 그리스도께서 공중에 나타나실 때에 이미 부활하여 하늘로 올라가서 그리스도의 심판석을 거치면서 보상을 받고 어린양의 혼인식을 마치고 그리스도와 함께 이 땅에 내려와서 그리스도의 천년왕국에서 다스리는 유업을 이미 받은 자들이기 때문이다. 그러므로 본문에서 언급하는 "생명의 부활"은 주 예수 그리스도께서 십자가에서 피흘려 죽으심으로써 모든 세상 죄를 제거하신 후 셋째 날에 부활하신 후 그분을 믿음으로써 영원한 생명을 받아 구원받은 성도들을 제외한 모든 성도들, 즉 행위로 구원받는 성도들의 부활을 말씀하는 것이다. 그래서 "선을 행한 자는 생명의 부활로"라고 표현하고 있는 것이다. 그러나 지금 은혜 시대에는 어떤 사람도 선한 행위로 생명을 받을 사람은 없고 주 예수 그리스도께서 세상 모든 사람들의 죄들을 위하여 대신 죽으신 선한 행위를 믿음으로써만 구원받을 수 있는 것이다. 이것이 첫째 부활인 것이다. 또한 백보좌 심판 때에 부활하는 사람은 두 번째 부활에 참여하는 것이다.

        또한 이 백보좌 심판 때에도 상을 받을 자들이 있다고 성경은 말씀하신다: "민족들이 분노하니 주의 진노가 임하였고 죽은 자들의 때가 임하였으니, 이는 그들이 심판을 받으며, 주께서 주의 종들인 선지자들과 성도들과 주의 이름을 두려워하는 크고 작은 자들에게는 상을 주시며, 땅을 훼손한 자들을 멸망시키려 하심이니이다."(계 11:18) 이 시대의 성도들은 주의 이름을 믿는 사람들이지 "두려워하는 " 사람들이 아니다. 또 구약 시대의 "선지자들"은 거듭난 사람들이 아니다. 성경에 나타난 "성도들"은 교회 시대에 은혜로 구원받은 성도들도 있고, 구약 시대에 구원받은 성도들도 있고, 환란 시대에 구원받게 될 성도들도 있는가 하면 천년왕국 시대에 구원받게 받게 될 성도들이 있다는 것을 기억해야 하는 것이다.

       믿음으로 말미암아 하나님의 은혜로 구원받은 교회 시대의 성도들은 그리스도께서 공중에 재림하실 때, 무덤에서 잠자는 자들일 경우 새 몸을 입고 다시 살아나 들려올라가고, 아직 살아남은 있는 성도들은 산 채로 몸이 변화되어 휴거된 후 대 환란 기간 중에 하늘에서 그리스도의 심판석에 나아가 면류관을 받기만 하면 되는 것이다. 지금 구원받아 거듭난 그리스도인들은 생명이 있을 뿐만 아니라 백보좌 심판석에서 그리스도와 함께 세상을 심판하게 될 사람들이다. 그리스도인들은 백보좌에서 심판을 받는 것이 아니라 심판하게 된다는 말이다. 이에 대하여 사도 바울은 "너희는 성도들이 세상을 심판하리라는 것을 알지 못하느냐? 세상에 너희에게 심판을 받은진대 너희가 지극히 적은 일들을 심판할 역량도 없느냐"(고전 6:2)라고 책망했다. 성도들은 천 년 기간 중에 이미 심판이 주어진 자들이며 천 년 기간 동안 그리스도와 함께 통치할 사람들인 것이다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 110:1-7

Main scripture: John 5:24-31

Subject: They that hear shall live!

       Whenever Jesus begin to say his word with "Verily, verily", he meant very important thing, for it must be serious problem, if the audience not understand what he says. When Jesus spoke unto Nicodemus, he also said,  "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God….. Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."(John 3:3,5)

If he not be born again of the Spirit, he had to go somewhere else not the kingdom of God.

       In the main passage, Jesus once again is saying, "Verily, verily" unto the Jew that not believed on him and continued to say, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."(John 5:24)

In other word, they that hear his word, and at the same time believe on the Father God that sent him shall receive the eternal life; and they shall not be condemned; and they shall be passed from death unto life.

       Jesus once again began to say his word beginning with "verily, verily": "The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live."(John 5:25) When he said "Now is", he didn't mean only at that time, but it has much more time frame. The Lord Jesus Christ lives eternally so that he never care about timely urgency. When the Jews asked him, "Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?", Jesus answered unto them using the word "verily, verily" saying, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am."(John 8:57,58)

Jesus used present term as "I am"  instead of "I was". In other word, they must know him as the eternal God to be saved.

       Now Jesus is saying, "The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God" How can the dead hear the voice of God? But Jesus is proclaiming as it is regardless of men's thoughts. Jesus proved his word in the 11th chapter of John through raising Lazarus from the dead. Apostle John testifies of this: "And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin."(John 11:43,44) Apostle Paul testified in the Spirit that they that believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, and  died in Christ shall rise from the dead: "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:"(1Thes. 4:16)

        Now Jesus is saying, "they that hear shall live." Why? His voice is to give life; this is why they that hear shall live. This applies not only for physical life but also spiritual life. The sinner that is dead spiritually in sins hear the voice the Lord Jesus Christ shall quicken his spirit to be saved his soul (1Peter 1:9). The gospel of Christ being preached through the scriptures is the very voice of the Lord Jesus Christ.

         Life is in God; and he wants to give his life unto his creations. Every creature in heaven and earth has received life only from God. No one can have life by oneself, for  the source of life is only God. In Jesus life is, for he was in the beginning he was the Word with God, and he created all things with God; and he manifested in flesh. Apostle John testifies: "In him was life; and the life was the light of men."

The Lord Jesus Christ is equal to the Father God as the source of life; he himself said, "I am the life" (John 14:6)

         Now Jesus is saying, "And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man"(John 5:27) The Word, the Son of God was made flesh, and dwelled among men. This is the reason why he called himself "The Son of man". In this reason, he was despised and rejected and his glory was bruised by men. This is the enough reason why he must have the authority for judging all things sitting at the throne of glory and power; for he was the very God that was made flesh.

       Now Jesus is saying, "Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation."(v 28,29) Now, they that hear the voice of the Lord Jesus Christ is expanded unto "All that  are in the graves" He is talking about the judgment of a great white throne (Rev. 20:11,12) as testified by Apostle John: "And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works."(Rev. 20:11, 12)

Not only they that died without salvation, but also they that died with salvation by their works, only except the saints saved by faith in the age of the church shall be judged at a great white throne being raised from the dead upon hearing the voice of the Lord Jesus Christ; this judgment  is only execution of judgment that already was done before they died.  At that time, there shall be "the resurrection of life" as well as the "resurrection of damnation". Jesus is saying, "Marvel not" revealing this truth. The saints saved by faith that were sleeping in Christ had already risen from the dead and went heaven when Jesus rose again from the dead, and he appeared in the air; the scripture testifies, " For the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible."(1Cor. 15:52)

         "They that have done good" and "They that have done evil" are nothing to do with the born again Christian; for they had already risen and went to heaven  when Christ appeared in the air; and they had passed through the judgment Seat of Christ to be rewarded; and finished the wedding with the Lamb of God; and came down with Christ unto the earth to reign with him. Therefore, "the resurrection of life" in the main passage is for all the saints saved by their works only except the saints that had believed on the Lord Jesus Christ which died on the cross shedding the blood, and took away the sin of the world, and rose again from the dead. This is the reason why "the resurrection of life" is mentioned. But no one be saved unto the eternal life by his good deed in the age of grace, but has to believe on the good deed of  the Lord Jesus Christ that died for the sin of the world. This is the way to participate in the first resurrection. They that stand before the great white throne shall participate in the second resurrection.

       The scripture is saying that there shall be some that shall be rewarded at the judgment of a great white throne: "And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth."(Rev. 11:18) The saints in this age of grace are ones that believe on his name, not ones that fear his name. The prophets in the Old testament days are not born again of the Spirit. There are many different kinds of the saints in the scriptures: the saints that are saved by grace in the church age; and  the saints that are saved in the Old Testament days; and the saints that are saved in the Great Tribulation; and the saints that shall be saved in the Millennium of Christ. This is what we have to remember.

        The saints that are saved by the grace of God in the age of the church shall put on the new body if they are sleeping in the graves when Christ appears in the air; and they that are alive shall be changed and raptured to heaven, and shall receive the crown at the Judgment Seat of Christ during the Great Tribulation. The born again Christians not only have eternal life right now, but also they shall judge with Christ at the judgment of the great white throne. Apostle Paul testified of this: "Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?"(1Cor. 6:2) Amen! Hallelujah!
