금주의 묵상: 시편 49:1-20

본문: 로마서 8:1-13

제목: 정죄(Condemnation)로부터 구원하는 은혜의 복음

         정죄가 무엇인가? 죄가 있다고 판단을 받는 것이다. 세상에 태어나는 모든 사람들은 한 사람도 예외 없이 태어나는 날이 정죄를 받으려고 태어나는 것이다. 뿐만 아니라, 태어나는 날이 죽을 날자를 미리 받는 날이기도 한 것이다. 이 사실에 대하여 성령께서는 사도 바울을 통하여  "한 사람에 의하여 죄가 세상으로 들어오고 그 죄에 의하여 사망이 왔으니 그리하여 모든 사람이 죄를 지었으므로 사망이 모든 사람에게 전달되었느니라. 율법이 있기 전에도 죄가 세상에 있었으나 율법이 없을 때에는 죄를 죄로 여기지 아니하였느니라. 그러나 아담으로부터 모세까지 아담의 범죄와 같은 죄를 짓지 아니한 자들 위에도 사망이 군림하였으니 아담은 오실 자의 모형이라."(롬 5:12-14)고 말씀하셨다.  또한  "한 번   죽는 것은 사람들에게 정해진 것이고 그 뒤에는 심판이 정해진 것같이 그리스도께서는 사람의 죄를 담당하시려고 한 번 드려지셨고, 두 번째는 자기를 바라는 자들을 구원에 이르게 하시려고 죄 없이 나타나시리라."(히 9:27,28)고 말씀하셨다.

        이렇게 세상에 태어나는 모든 사람은 죄를 지은 아담 안에서 태어나기에 한 번은 죽어야 하고 죽음으로 끝이 나는 것이 아니고 심판을 받아야 하는 운명 속에 살아야 하니  이 얼마나 억울한 운명인가? 이 사실을 알게 될지라도 세상에 태어난 것을 돌이킬 수도 없기에 얼마나 비참한 일인가? 그러나 불행하게도 이 사실 조차도 깨닫지 못하다가 어느날 갑자기 죽음을 맞이하는 사람들이 지금 이 순간에도 얼마나 많은가? 또한 그 비참한 현실을 이기지 못하여 스스로 목숨을 끊는 사람들이 또 얼마나 많은가?

그러면 하나님께서는 지난 육천 년 동안 태어나는 모든 사람들이 죄와 사망의 권세 잡은 자 마귀의 수중에서 태어나도록 방치하셨단 말인가? 이로 인하여 수많은 사람들은 아직도 하나님의 마음을 이해하지 못하여 방황하고 있는 것이다.

        모든 사람들이 죄 가운데서 태어날 뿐만 아니라 모든 사람이 죄를 짓게 됨으로써 하나님의 영광에 이르지 못하게 되었다(롬 3:23)고 성경은 선포하신다. 다시 말해서 모든 사람은 죄를 짓는 기계처럼 태어나기에 사망 속에 더욱 깊숙히 들어가게 되어 생명의 하나님을 만날 수 없는 신세가 된 것이다. 하나님을 알 수도 찾을 수도 없이 그냥 숨을 쉬는 날 동안 목숨을 연명할 수밖에 없게 된 것이다. 그러나 사는 날 동안만이라도 육신을 위하여 무엇인가 이루어보려고 발버둥치다가 어느날 덫에 걸린 짐승처럼 세상을 떠나게 되는 것이다. 그러므로 성경은 이에 대하여 "사람이 존귀할지라도 오래 살지 못하니 그가 멸망하는 짐승들과 같도다. 사람이 존귀에 처해도 깨닫지 못하면 멸망하는 짐승들과 같도다."(시 49:12, 20)라고 말씀하신다.

        그런데 이천 년 전 어느날, 하나님께서 사람이 되어 나타나셔서 말씀하셨다: "하나님께서 세상을 이처럼 사랑하셔서 그의 독생자를 주셨으니, 이는 그를 믿는 사람은 아무도 멸망하지 않고 영생을 얻게 하려 하심이라. 하나님께서 자기 아들을 세상이 보내신 것은 세상을 정죄하려(to condemn) 하심이 아니요, 그를 통하여 세상이 구원받게 하려 하심이라. 아들을 믿는 자는 정죄(condemnation)를 받지 아니하나 믿지 않는 사람은 이미 정죄를 받은 것(condemned)이라. 이는 그 사람이 하나님의 독생자의 이름을 믿지 않았기 때문이라.  이것이 정죄(condemnation)라. 즉 빛이 세상에 왔으나 사람들이 빛보다는 오히려 어두움을 더 사랑하니 이는 그들의 행위가 악함이라."(요 3:16-19)

      모든 사람이 이미 죄를 지었는데 어떻게 정죄를 받지 않을 수 있는가? 정죄를 받지 않는다는 말은 죄를 지었는데도 죄가 없다고 여겨진다는 말이 아닌가? 이 땅에 오신 예수 그리스도는 세상의 참 빛으로 오셨다(요 1:9)고 침례인 요한이 증거했다. 또한 그분께서 세상에 계셨고 세상이 그에 의하여 지은 바 되었으나 세상은 그를 알지 못하더라(요 1:10)고 증거했다. 그분께서 참 빛이 되시어 죄악 세상에 생명의 빛을 비추시려고 오셨는데 그분을 믿고 받아들이지 않으면 스스로 정죄 속에 계속 거할 수밖에 없는 것이다. 그러나 그 빛을 받아들이면 어두움이 물러가듯이 죄가 없어지고 생명의 빛을 받게 되는 것이다. 사도 요한은 이 진리를 깨닫고 "그분 안에 생명이 있었으니 그 생명은 사람들의 빛이라."(요 1:4)고 증거했던 것이다. 그러므로 하나님의 독생자이신 예수 그리스도의 이름을 믿음으로 영접하지 않으면 어두움 속에 스스로 머물기로 작정하는 것이며 정죄(condemnation) 가운데 심판을 받을 수밖에 없는 것이다.

       그러므로 사도 바울은 아테네에서 전도할 때에 "이 무지의 때에는 하나님께서 눈감아 주셨으나 이제는 어디에 살고 있는  어떤 사람에게도 회개하라고 명령하고 게시니라. 이는 하나님께서 선정하신 그 사람(예수 그리스도)으로 하여금 의로 세상을 심판하실 한 날을 정해 놓으시고 그를 죽은 자들로부터 살리시어 모든 사람에게 확신을 주셨음이라."(행 17:30,31)고 설교했다. 사도 바울이 말한 "회개"가 무엇인가? 죄 가운데 태어나서 죄를 짓는 삶으로부터 나와 생명의 빛으로 오신 예수 그리스도께로 나아오라는 초청인 것이다. 다시 말해서 죄와 사망 가운데 지옥 심판의 길로가던 길에서 돌이켜 의와 생명의 길이신 주 예수 그리스도께로 돌이키라는 메세지인 것이다. 그러므로 예수께서는 정죄에 대하여 "세상에 빛이 왔으나 사람들이 빛보다는 오히려 어두움을 더 사랑하니 이는 그들의 행위가 악함이라."(요 3:19)고 말씀하신 것이다.

        그러므로, 오늘 본문에서 사도 바울을 통하여 주시는 메세지는 누구든지 예수 그리스도를 믿어 영접하여 그분 안으로 들어오는 사람은 결코 정죄함(condemnation)이 없다는 것이다. 다시 말해서 죄를 지었는데도 죄가 없다는 말씀인 것이다. 그 이유에 대하여 그들은 육신을 따라 행하지 아니하고 성령을 따라 행하기 때문이며, 그렇게 할 수 있는 것은 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 생명의 성령의 법이 죄와 사망의 법에서 해방시켰기 때문이라고 증거하고 있는 것이다. 또한 죄와 사망의 법으로부터 해방된 사실에 대하여 "율법이 육신을 통하여서는 연약하여 할 수 없는 것이므로 하나님께서는 죄 때문에 자신의 아들을 죄 있는 육신의 모양으로 보내 그 육신에 죄를 선고하셨으니"(롬 8:3)라고 증거하고 있는 것이다. 여기에서 "그 육신에 죄를 선고하셨다"라는 것은 우리의 모든 죄들을 그분의 육신 안에 전가하신 후 그분의 육신을 정죄(condemn)하심으로써 우리가 받은 정죄를 그분 스스로 받으셨기에 믿는 우리를 그분 안에 있는 생명의 성령의 법 안으로 완전히 옮기셨기 때문에 그분의 이름을 믿는 사람은 더 이상 정죄를 받지 않게 된 은혜를 받았다고 증거하고 있는 것이다.

          또한 그 결과 "율법의 의가 우리 안에서 이루어지게 하려함이라"고 증거하고 있는 바,  우리가 범한 모든 율법의 죄들을 예수 그리스도의 육신 안에 다 쏟아넣으시고 그 죄들에 대한 정죄(condemnation)를 선고하실 때에 하나님의 육신이 산산이 찟어지시고 물괴 피를 다 쏟으셨던 것이다. 그 결과 우리를 정죄(condemnation)로 부터 구원하셔서 부활하신 자신의 몸안으로 들어오게 하셔서 성령 안에 거하게 하심으로써 우리가 더 이상 육신을 따라 행하지 않고 성령을 따라 행하는 자들이 되게 하신 것이다. 다시 말해서 구원받은 우리 모두가 모든 율법을 지킨 자들로 인정해 주셨다는 것이다. 이 얼마나 큰 은혜인가? 그런데 우리가 어찌 우리의 행위를 내세울 수 있겠는가?

        그러므로 사도 바울은 담대하게 증거했다: "하나님께서 택하신 자들에게 누가 혐의를 씌우리요? 의롭다 하시는 분은 하나님이시니라. 누가 정죄하리요(condemn)? 죽었다가 다시 살아나신 분은 그리스도시라. 그분은 또한 하나님의 오른 편에 계셔서 우리를 위하여 중보하시느니라."(롬 8:33,34)

        하나님께서 대신 정죄(condemnation)를 받으시고 그분을 믿는 우리를 죄와 사망의 법 안에 있는 세상으로부터 성령 안에서 생명이 있는 자신의 몸 안에 있는 하나님의 왕국(롬 14;17)으로 옮겨주셨는데, 어느 누가  믿는 우리를 정죄할 수 있겠는가? 또한 우리가 혹 죄를 지을지라도 그분께서는 쉬지 않고 중보하시는데 어떻게 정죄(condemn)할 수 있겠는가? 성령으로 거듭난 사람을 정죄하는 사람은 결국 하나님이신 예수 그리스도를 정죄하는 것이 아니겠는가?. 그러나 구원받은 사람이 죄를 짓고 회개하지 않을 때에 자신을 정죄할 수 있다는 사실을 알아야 하는 것이다. 다시 말해서 성령을 따라 살지 않고 육신을 따라갈 때에  자신 스스로 정죄의식에 사로잡힐 수 있다는 것이다. 이에 대하여 사도 요한은 이렇게 증거했다: "만일 우리 마음이 우리를 정죄한다(condemn)면 하나님은 우리 마음보다 더 크시고 모든 것을 아시기 때문이라. 사랑하는 자들아, 만일 우리 마음이 우리를 정죄하지 (condemn)아니하면 우리가 하나님 앞에서 담대함을 얻고 무엇이든지 구하는 것을 그에게서 받나니, 이는 우리가 그의 계명들을 지키고 그의 목전에 기쁨이 되는 일을 행함이라. 그의 계명은 이것이니, 우리가 그의 아들 예수 그리스도의 이름을 믿고, 그가 우리에게 주신 계명대로 서로 사랑하라는 것이라. 그의 계명들을 지키는 사람은 그분 안에 거하고 그분은 그 사람 안에 거하시느니라. 이로써 우리에게 주신 성령에 의하여 우리는 그분이 우리 안에 거하시는 것을 아느니라."(요일 3:20-24) 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 49:1-20

Subject: The gospel of grace that deliver from condemnation

       What is condemnation? It is to declare to be judge unto guilt. Everyone that is born in the world is to be condemned from the birthday without exception. And everyone is supposed to receive the day of death when he or she is born. The Holy Ghost testified of this destiny though Apostle Paul:

"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come."(Romans 5:12-14)

"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation."(Heb. 9:27,28)

       All men that are born in the world are in Adam; so they have to die once, and have to be judged after death. Then what a miserable destiny it is? Even though they understand their destiny, it is too late for them to reverse their destiny. But how many people are dying unexpectedly not understanding their destiny at this moment? How many people are giving up their life not enduring their fate? Then why God has been allowing all men born in the world in the hand of the devil that has the power of sin and death for last six thousand years? Still many people wandering their life not understanding the mind of God.

       All men are born in the midst of sin; and they sin so that they come short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23) as declared by the word of God. In other word, all men are born as the instrument of sinning, and deeply rooted into death so that they don't have any hope to see God. It is not possible for them to know God and to find him; they are living until their breath is in their nose. They are trying to do something to satisfy their lust until they have to leave the world when they are caught by the snare as the beasts. The scripture testify of the destiny of men:

"Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish. Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish."(Ps. 49:12, 20)

        Two thousand years ago, God became a man in the name of Jesus, and spoke to the world: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."(John 3:16-19)

         Now all men sinned; then how they can avoid the condemnation? No condemnation means to be justified even though they have already sinned. Jesus Christ has come as the true light (John 1:9) as testified by John the Baptist. He also testified, he was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world know him not (John 1:10). He came to the wicked world to shine the light of life as the true light. Therefore, if people not receive him by faith, they cannot help staying themselves in   the condemnation that is darkness. But when they receive the light, they receive the light of life through taking away the sin as darkness go away by the light. Apostle John understood the truth, and testified:

"In him was life; and the life was the light of men."(John 1:4)

Therefore, unless men receive the name of Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, they decide themselves to stay in the darkness to be judged unto condemnation.

       Apostle Paul preached unto the Greek:

"And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead."(Acts 17:30, 31)

What he meant by saying "repent"? This is invitation unto Jesus Christ that had come as the light of life coming out of the life born in sin and sinning. In other word, it is the message asking them  to make U-turn from the way to the judgment to hell in the midst of sin and death. This is the reason why Jesus testified of condemnation saying,

"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."(John 3:19)

         Therefore, the message given through Apostle Paul is that there shall be no condemnation for them that receive Jesus Christ by faith, and enter into him. Even though they have already sinned, they are considered as never sinned at all, for they walk after the Spirit, not after the flesh. How they can walk after the Spirit? For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made them free from the law of sin and death. Apostle Paul also testifies how they are free from the law of sin death:

"For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh."(Romans 8:3)

He also testifies, God transferred all our sins into his flesh, and condemned his flesh so that he received condemnation that we are supposed to receive to put us into the law of the Spirit of life in him completely. This is the reason why whosoever believes in his name receives the grace of no condemnation.

       As the result of it, the righteousness of the law is fulfilled in us. When God poured all our sins of the law into the body of Jesus Christ, and condemned his flesh,  the flesh of God was broken into pieces shedding his blood and waters. And God delivered us from condemnation, and put us into his body so that we have been dwelling in the Spirit, and we have been walking after the Spirit, not after the flesh. In other word, God recognizes all of us as if we have kept all the laws of God. What a amazing grace it is? How can we boast of our works?

         Therefore, Apostle Paul testified boldly: "Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us."(Romans 8:33, 34)

         Since God received condemnation on behalf of us, and he translated us into the kingdom of God(Rom. 14;17) that is in the law of the Spirit of life in his body from the world in the law of sin and death, who can condemn us? Who can condemn us, knowing Jesus Christ is intercedes for us  without ceasing, Even though we sin sometimes,  To condemn him that is born of the Spirit is to condemn Jesus Christ. But we have to remember a very important thing; if we fail to repent whenever we sin, our heart could condemn us. In other word, when we walk after the flesh, not following the Spirit, our heart could feel condemnation. Apostle John testified of this:

"For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us."(1John 3:20-24) Amen! hallelujah!
