금주의 묵상: 시편 94:1-23

본문: 사도행전 17:26-31

제목: 그리스도의 심판석과 하나님의 큰 백보좌  심판석

     사도바울은 그리스 아테네에 있는 마르스 언덕에 서서 앞으로 하나님께서 예수 그리스도를 통하여 세상을 심판하실 한 날에 대하여 선포했다. 이 선포는 오늘날 세상의 지혜와 사람의 지혜와 통치자의 지혜를 따라가면서 하나님의 지혜(고전 2:10-16)를 찾지 않는 온 세상을 향한 선포이기도 하다. 다시 말해서 하나님의 말씀 안에 있는 하나님의 지혜를 멀리하고 현 세상을 통치하고 있는 마귀가 만들어낸 지혜를 따르며 심판받은 세상을 따라가며 이미 십자가에서 심판을 받은 마귀를 따라가고 있는 세상을 향해 외치는 하나님의 음성이다. 뿐만 아니라  옛날 이스라엘 백성들처럼 하나님의 말씀을 떠나 세상 마귀가 만들어낸 세상 종교들과 연합하며 하나님의 이름을 모독하고 있는 타락한 기독교계를 향한 심판의 메세지이다.

       사도 바울은 고린도교회 성도들에게 편지할 때에 "기록된 바와 같으니 '하나님께서 자기를 사랑하는 자들을 위하여 예비하신 것들은 눈으로 보지도 못하엿고 귀로 듣지도 못하였으며 인간의 마음 속에 들어온 적도 없었느니라.' 한 것이라. (고전 2:9)고 증거했다.

       그렇다면, 사도 바울은 어떤 기록된 말씀이 그의 사랑하시는 자들을 위하여 예비하신 것이라고 말한 것인가? 사도 바울은 선지자 이사야를 통하여 하신 말씀 속에서 기록된 말씀을 찾아낸 것이다. 뿐만 아니라, 그는 오늘날 마지막 때를 살고 있는 그리스도인들에게도 알려주고 있는 것이다. 하나님께서는 선지자 이사야를 통하여 그 은밀한 일에 대하여 말씀하셨다: "오 원컨대 주께서 하늘들을 가르고 내려오시며, 산들도 주의 면전에서 흘러내리기를 용해하는 불길이 타서 그 불이 물을 끓게 하는 것같이 되게하시며, 주의 이름을 주의 대적들에게 알게 하셔서 민족들로 주의 면전에서 떨게 하소서! 주께서 내려오셔서 우리가 바라지 않았던 두려운 일들을 행하셨을 때, 산들이 주의 면전에서 흘러내렸나이다. 이는 세상이 시작된 이래로 사람들이 들은 적도 없고, 귀로 깨닫지도 못하였으며, 눈으로 보지도 못하였음이니 오 하나님이여, 주 외에는 주께서 주를 기다리는 자를 위하여 에비하신 것을 아는 자가 없나이다."(사 64:1-4)

      사도 바울은 주 예수 그리스도께서 대 환란 끝에 이 세상에 나타나셔서 불로 세상을 심판하실 것에 대하여 증거하고 있다. 그러나 이 심판에 대하여 알고 깨닫는 자들은 오로지 주의 오심을 기다리는 자들이라는 것이다.

      선지자 요엘도 심판주이신 주 예수 그리스도께서 이 땅에 나타나실 때에 그분께서 심판하시는 광경에 대하여 증거했다: 너희는 시온에서 나팔을 불고 내 거룩한 산에서 경고의 소리를 내어 그 땅의 모든 거민들로 떨게 하라. 이는 주의 날이 오며 그 날이 가까움이라. 흑암과 암영의 날, 구름과 짙은 어두움의 날이 산들 위에 펼쳐진 아침 같으니, 많고 강한 사람들이라. 이 같은 일은 전에도 없었고, 또 이후, 곧 많은 세대들의 연수에까지도 다시 없으리라. 불이 그들 앞에서 삼키며 그들 뒤에서는 화염이 불타는도다. 그 땅은 그들 앞에서는 에덴의 동산 같으나 그들 뒤에는 황량한 광야 같으니, 정녕 어떤 것도 그들을 피하지 못하리라. ….땅이 그들 앞에서 흔들거리며 하늘들이 떨고 해와 달이 어두워지며 별들이 그들의 빛을 거두리라. 주께서 그의 군대 앞에서 그의 음성을 발하시리니, 이는 그의 진영이 매우 크고 그의 말씀을 실행하는 분은 강하심이라. 주의 날이 위대하고 심히 어려우니 누가 그것을 견디어낼 수 있으리요?"(욜 2:1-3, 10,11)

        에수께서는 자신이 재림하시는 이 날이 이르기 직전인 대환란 때에 있을 일에 대하여 친히 말씀하셨다: "마치 번개가 동편에서 치면 서편에까지 비치는 것같이, 인자가 오는 것도 그러하리라. 어디든지 시체가 잇는 곳에는 독수리들이 함께 모이리라. 그 날들의 환란 후에 즉시 해가 어두워지며, 달이 그 빛을 내지 아니하며, 별들이 하늘에서 떨어지고, 또 하늘들의 권능들이 흔들릴 것이라. 그후에 하늘에 있는 인자의 표적이 나타나리니, 땅의 모든 지파들이 통곡할 것이며, 또 그들은 인자가 권세와 큰 영광으로 하늘의 구름을 타고 오는 것을 보리라."(마 24:27-30)

         밧모섬에 있던 사도 요한은 심판의 날에 대하여 증거했다: "또 내가 하늘이 열린 것을 보니 흰말이 보이더라. 그 위에 앉으신 분은 신실과 진실이라 불리며 의로 심판하고 싸우시더라. 그의 눈은 불꽃 같고 그의 머리에는 많은 왕관이 있고 또 한 이름이 기록되어 있는데 그 자신 외에는 아무도 모르며 피에 적신 옷을 입었는데 그의 이름은 하나님의 말씀이라 불리더라. 또 하늘에 있는 군대들이 희고 정결한 세마포를 입고 흰말들을 타고 그를 따르더라. 그의 입에서는 예리한 칼이 나와서 그것으로 민족들을 칠 것이며, 그는 전능하신 하나님의 맹렬한 진노의 포도즙틀을 밟으실 것이라. 또 그의 옷과 넓적다리에 이름이 기록되어 있는데 '만왕의 왕, 또 만주의 주'라 하였더라."(계 19:11-16)

       뿐만 아니라, 사도 요한은 심판 후에 있을 천년왕국(계 20:1-4)과 천년왕국 끝에 마지막으로 불로 심판 (계 20:7-9)하시고 지난 육천 년 동안 태어났다가 죽은  수많은 사람들의 혼들을 여호와 하나님께서 백보좌에 읹으셔서 친히 심판하실 것에 대하여 증거하였으며, 그 후에는 사도 베드로가  증거한 것처럼 "의가 거하는 새 하늘들과 새땅"(벧후 3:13)이 있는 영원한 하나님의 왕국 (계 21, 22장)이 하늘들과 땅에 온전히 이루어질 것에 대하여 증거했다. 사도 요한은 천년왕국 끝에 있을 하나님의 백보좌 심판에 대하여 이렇게 증거했다: "또 내가 큰 백보좌와 그 위에 앉으신 분을 보니, 그의 면전에서 땅과 하늘이 사라졌고 그들의 설 자리도 보이지 않더라. 또 내가 죽은 자들을 보니, 작은 자나 큰 자나 하나님 앞에 서 있는데, 책들이 펴져 있으며 또 다른 책도 펴져 있는데 그것은 생명의 책이라. 죽은 자들은 자기들의 행위에 따라 그 책들에 기록된 대로 심판을 받더라. 바다도 그 안에 있던 죽은 자들을 넘겨주고 또 사망과 지옥도 그들 안에 있던 자들을 넘겨주니 그들이 각자 자기들의 행위에 따라 심판을 받더라. 사망과 지옥도 불못에 던져지니 이것이 둘째 사망이라. 누구든지 생명의 책에 기록되지 않은 자는 불못에 던져지더라."(계 20:11-15)

        그가 증거한 것같이  하나님의 큰 백보좌 심판석에 설 사람들은 믿음에 의한 의로 심판을 받는 것이 아니라 자신들의 행위로 심판을 받게 되는 것이다. 하나님은 공의의 하나님이시다. 다시 말해서 법이 없는 곳에는 죄를 물으실 수 없으신 분이다. 그러나 한 번 법이 선포되면 자신도 그 법을 지키시는 분인 것이다. 아담이 에덴 동산에서 쫓겨나서 하나님의 율법이 이 세상에 선포되기 전 2,500여년 동안에는 하나님의 법이 없었다. 예를 들어 노아의 때에 얼마나 많은 사람들이 살았겠으며 그들이 홍수로 하루 아침에 죽었는데 그들의 혼은 어디에 있는가? 사도 베드로는 성령 안에서 이들에 대하여 증거했다: "그리스도께서는 죄들로 인하여 한 번 고난을 받으사 의인으로서 불의한 자를 대신하셨으니, 이는 육신으로는 죽임을 당하셧으나 성령에 의하여 살림을 받으심으로 우리를 하나님께로 인도하려 하심이라. 그가 성령으로 감옥에 있는 영들에게도 가서 전파하셨으니 그들은 전에 노아의 날에 방주를 예비하는 동안 하나님께서 오래 참고 기다리셨을 때에 순종하지 아니하던 자들이라. 방주에서 물로 말미암아 구원받은 사람이 몇 명뿐이니 곧 여덟 혼들이라."(벧전 3:18-20)

         3,500여년 전에 오직 이스라엘 백성들만이 하나님의 율법을 받았다. 또한 예수 그리스도께서 모든 율법의 죄들을 담당하시고 죽으시기 전까지 얼마나 많은 사람들이 죽었던가? 뿐만 아니라 오순절 이후에도 지금까지 율법도 모르고 하나님도 모르며 살고 있는 사람들이 얼마나 많은가? 우리 조상들 역시 지난 130여년 전에 복음이 들어오기 전까지 5,000여년 동안 얼마나 많은 사람들이 아무 것도 모르며 죽어갔던가? 하나님께서는 사도 바울을 통하여 분명하게 말씀하셨다: "이 무지의 때에는 하나님께서 눈감아 주셨으나 이제는 어디에 살고 있는 어떤 사람에게도 회개하라고 명령하고 계시니라."(행 17:30) 또한 사도 바울은 로마에 있는 사람들에게 편지할 때에 "율법이 없는 이방인들이 본성으로 율법에 있는 일들을 행할 때에는 율법이 없어도 이것들이 스스로에게 율법이 되나니 그들의 양심도 증거하고 그들의 이성이 송사하거나 서로 변명하여 그들의 마음에 기록된 율법의 행위를 보여주느니라. 이런 일들은 하나님께서 나의 복음대로 예수 그리스도를 통하여 사람들의 은밀한 것들을 심판하실 그날에 있으리라."(롬 2:14-16)고 증거한 것은 율법도 모르고 그리스도의 복음도 모르다가 죽은 사람들이 받을 마지막 백보좌 심판이 그들의 양심에 따른 행위로 받을 것을 증거한 것이다. 그러므로 공의의 하나님을 찬양하지 않겠는가?

          사도 요한이  "지옥도 그들 안에 있는 자들을 넘겨주니"(계 20:13)라고 증거한 것처럼 하나님의 법이 선포된 율법 시대와 예수 그리스도의 피를 믿음으로써 구원받는 복음이 선포된 후에 그리스도를 거역하고 믿지 않은 모든 사람들은 지옥에 있다가 백보좌 심판석 앞에 설것이다. 그러므로 그때에 지옥이 통째로 불못으로 떨어지게 되는 것이다. 그러나 하나님의 마지막 백보좌 심판석에 서지 않을 유일한 사람들이 있다. 그들은 주 예수 그리스도의 피를 믿음으로 혼이 구원 받아 영이 거듬난 그리스도인들인 것이다. 주님의 말씀대로 정죄받지 않는 유일한 무리들인 것이다. 그러나 그리스도를 영접하지 않는 사람들은 이미 정죄를 받은 자들이라고 주님께서 친히 말씀하셨다 (요 3:14-19).

          그러나 구원받은 그리스도인들 역시 그리스도께서 나타나실 때(휴거의 날)에 그리스도의 심판석에 서야 한다. 이것은 정죄를 위한 것이 아니라 행위에 대한 책망과 보상을 위한 것이다. 사도 바울은 이에 대하여 분명하게 증거했다: "그런데 너는 어찌하여 네 형제를 판단하느냐? 어찌하여네 형제를 업신여기느냐? 우리가 모두 그리스도의 심판석에 서리라…그러므로 우리 각 사람이 하나님께 자신에 관해 설명하리라….우리가 자신에 차 있으니 정녕 몸에서 떠나 주와 함께 있는 것을 오히려 더 원하노라. 이 때문에 우리가 애쓰는 것은 거하든지 떠나 있든지 그분을 기쁘시게 해 드리기를 바라는 것이라. 이는 우리 모두가 반드시 그리스도의 심판석 앞에 나아가서 선이든지 악이든지 각자 자기가 행한 것에 따라, 자기 몸으로 행한 것들을 받을 것이기 때문이라."(롬 14:10,고후 5:8-10) 하나님의 자녀가 된 그리스도인은 하나님의 백보좌 심판석에 서지는 않지만 그리스도의 심판석에 서야 하는 것이다. 그래서 사도 바울이 말씀하신 대로 그 날에 책망이 아닌 상을 받도록 두려움과 떨림으로 살아야 하는 것이다(빌 2;12). 그러므로 거듭난 그리스도인들은두려움과 떨림으로 받은 구원을 상실할 것을 두려워하는 것이 결코 아닌 것이다.  옛날 욥이 그의 친구들에게 물었던 질문을 그리스도의 심판석에서 그리스도인들에게 하실지도 모른다: "네가 힘없는 자를 어떻게 도왔느냐? 네가 기력없는 팔을 어떻게 구원하였느냐? 네가 지혜없는 자를 어떻게 조언하였느냐? 네가 어떻게 사실을 있는 그대로 전했느냐? 네가 누구에게 말을 발설했느냐? 누구의 영이 네게서 나왔느냐?"(욥 26:2-4) 주님께서 말씀하셨다: "보라, 내가 속히 오리니 내가 줄 상이 내게 있어 각 사람에게 그의 행위에 따라 주리라."(계 22:12) 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 94:1-23

Subject: Judgment Seat of Christ and Judgment Seat of the Great White Throne of God

           Apostle Paul declared a day when God will judge the world through Jesus Christ standing in the midst of Mars' hill in Athens, Greece. His declaration is also unto the whole world that is following the wisdom of the world, and of man, and of the prince of the world rejecting the wisdom of God (1Cor. 2:10-16) In other word, his preaching is the voice of God against the world that is not following the wisdom of God in the word of God, but the wisdom of the devil that is judged through the cross of Jesus Christ. And, his message is also against the corrupted modern Christian society that is going to be united with other religions being away from the word of God as the people of Israel in the days of the Old testament had done.

         Apostle Paul testified unto the saints of Corinthians through his epistle: "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. (1Cor. 2:9)

Then, what he means when he mentioned about the things which God has prepared? Apostle Paul found out the word in the book of Isaiah. This written word of God is also for the Christians living in the end time. God spoke of the secret thing through prophet Isaiah:

"Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence,

As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence! When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence. For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him."(Isa. 64:1-4)

       Apostle Paul testifies of the judgment by fire that shall be done by Jesus Christ at the end of the Great Tribulation.; but of this judgment, only they that are waiting for the Coming of Jesus Christ understand. Prophet Joel also testified of the final judgment of Jesus Christ:

"Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand; A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them….. The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: And the Lord shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the Lord is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?"(Joel 2:1-3, 10, 11)

       Even Jesus Christ also testified of the things that shall be happening right before his Second Coming:

"For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory."(Matt. 24:27-30)

         Apostle John also testified of the day of judgment at Patmos:

"And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.m And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND Lord OF LORDS."(Rev. 19:11-16)

       In addition to it, Apostle John also testified of the Millennium of the Lord Jesus Christ (Rev.20:1-4) and the final judgment of fire after the Millennium (Rev. 20:7-9), and the final judgment at the judgment Seat of the white Great Throne of God, and the eternal kingdom of God (Rev. 21-22)  as Apostle Peter testified of new heavens and a new earth where dwells righteousness (2Pet. 3:13).

        Apostle John testified of the Judgment Seat of the White Great Throne of God:

"And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."(Rev. 20:11-15)

         As he testified, they that shall stand before the final judgment of God shall not be judged by the righteousness of their faith, but by their own works. God is righteous One. In other word, he cannot ask about sin at all without the law given by him. But once his law is declared, he also has to keep the law. There had been no laws about for 2,500 years, since Adam was cast out of Eden until the law of God was declared unto the world. How many people must have lived in the days of Noah and died of the great flood. Where were their souls after death? Apostle Peter testified of them in the Spirit:

"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water."(1Pet. 3:18-20)

       About 3,500 years ago, the law of God was only given unto Israel. How many people must have died until Jesus Christ died for all the sins of the law? What about our ancestors? How many our fore fathers and mothers had died for 5,000 years until the gospel of Christ was preached 130 years ago? Apostle Paul testified of them clearly: "The times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent."(Acts 17:30) He also testified of them that not knew the law of God and died saying they shall be judged by their works according to their conscience:

     " For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel."(Rom. 2:14-16)

      As Apostle John testified saying, "Hell delivered up the dead which were in them."(Rev. 20:13), all men that rejected Jesus Christ after the gospel of salvation theough the blood of Jesus shall be in the hell before they stand at judgment seat of the Great White Throne of God. Then the hell itself shall be cast into the lake of fire. But there is only one group of people that is not to stand the seat of white great throne of God. They are the children of God born again of the Spirit, and saved their souls through the faith in the blood of Jesus Christ. As Jesus testified, they are the only group of people not to be condemned. Therefore, whosoever not received Jesus Christ is already condemned because they have not believed on his name. as Jesus said (John 3:14-19).

         But Christians also have pass through the judgment seat of Christ in the day of Christ after Rapture; this is not for condemnation, but rebuke and reward according to their works. Apostle Paul testified of the Judgment seat of Christ:

"But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ…… We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad."(Rom. 14:10, 2Cor. 5:8-10)

         Even though the children of God are not to stand before the final judgment seat of God. But instead, they have to stand before the judgment seat of Christ. This is the reason why they have to work out their salvation as Apostle Paul (Phil. 2:12). Therefore, the born again Christian never fear and tremble for losing salvation at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ may ask all of us as Job asked the questions unto his friend saying," How hast thou helped him that is without power? how savest thou the arm that hath no strength?

3How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom? and how hast thou plentifully declared the thing as it is? To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?"(Job 26:2-4)

We have to remember the word of Jesus Christ,

"And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be."(Rev. 22:12) Amen! Hallelujah!
