금주의 묵상: 시편 110:1-7

본문: 마태복음 6:8-13

제목: 성경의 주제는 왕국이다:하나님의 나라(왕국)(Kingdom of God)와 천국(Kingdom of heaven)

         창세기부터 요한계시록을 자세하게 공부해 본 사람은 누구나 성경의 주제가 에수 그리스도의 왕국이라는 진리를 깨닫게 될 것이다. 그러나 대부분의 그리스도인들이 주님이 가르치신 기도를 외우면서도 그 뜻을 깨닫지 못하는 것은 성경을 자세하게 공부하지 않기 때문이다. 죄인임을 깨닫고 예수 그리스도를 주와 구세주로 영접하여 거듭난 사람이라면, 자신의 영원한 기업이 들어있는 성경을 세상에 있는 어떤 책들보다도 우선적으로 더 자세하게 공부해야하는 것이 아니겠는가? 성경을 최우선으로 열심히 공부하고자 하는 생각이 없는 사람은  거듭나지 못했거나  게으르기 때문이 아닌지 생각해 보아야 할 것이다..  

        성경의 주제는 왕국(kingdom)이다. 다시 말해서 죄인들을 구원하시는 하나님의 목적이 다름 아닌 하나님께서 하늘과 땅에 세우시는 왕국에 들어가게 하시려는 것이다. 이로 인하여 밤에 예수님을 찾아온 거듭나지 못한 바리새인 니고데모에게 "진실로 진실로 내가 너에게 말하노니 사람이 거듭나지 않으면 하나님의 나라(kingdom)을 볼 수 없느니라…진실로 진실로 내가 너에게 말하노니, 사람이 물과 성령으로 태어나지 아니하면 하나님의 나라(kingdom)에  들어갈 수 없느니라."(요 3:3,5)고 말씀하신 것이다. 주님과 함께 십자가에 못박혀 죽었던 한 편 강도는 "주여, 주께서 주의 왕국(kingdom)에 임하실 때 나를 기억하소서."(눅 23:42)라고 주의 이름을 불렀을 때 주님께서 그에게 "진실로 내가 너에게 말하노니, 오늘 네가 나와 함께 낙원에 있으리라."(눅 23:43)고 말씀하셨다. 이 강도는 예수님이 하늘과 땅에 세우실 왕국의 하나님이신 것을 믿었던 것이다.

        성경에 나타난 하나님의 왕국은 두 가지로 나온다. 하나는 하나님의 나라(왕국)이며, 또 다른 하나는 천국(kingdom of heaven).이다. 하나님의 나라(왕국)는 눈에 보이지 않는 영적인 왕국이다. 사도 바울은 "하나님의 나라(왕국)는 먹고 마시는 것이 아니라, 성령 안에서 의와 화평과 기쁨이라."(롬 14:17)고 증거했다. 또한 성경에 나타난 천국(kingdom of heaven)은 눈에 보이고 물리적으로 이 지구상에 임하는 하나님의 왕국이라고 말씀하신다.

      이 사실을 깨닫기 위해서 지금부터 창세기 말씀부터 요한계시록까지 전체적인 하나님의 말씀을 살펴보면서 깨닫게 될 것이다. 우선 먼저 집고 넘어가야 하는 한 가지는 하나님과 하늘은 분명히 다르다는 것이다. 창세기 1장 1절에 "태초에 하나님께서 하늘과 땅을 창조하시니라."고 말씀하신다. 하나님께서는 하늘을 창조하신 분이시다. 그러니 하나님과 하늘은 창조주와 피조물 관계이지 전혀 동일한 것이 아니다.  영어 킹제임스 성경에서는 하나님의 나라(왕국)를 "kingdom of God"으로, 또한 천국을"kingdom of heaven"으로 말씀하고 있다. 분명히 이 두 왕국은 서로 다른 것임을 알 수 있다. 또한 본문에서 "아버지의 왕국이 임하시오며, 아버지의 뜻이 하늘에서와 같이 땅(earth)에서도 이루어지이다."(마 6:10)라는 뜻을 깨닫게 될 것이다.

         하나님께서는 땅을 창조하신 후에 첫 사람 아담을 만드시고 그를 이 땅의 만물을 다스리는 왕으로 세우셨다. 또한 하나님 자신도 에덴에 함께 계셨다. 아담이 범죄하고 숨었을 때 주 하나님께서 아담을 부르시고 그에게 "네가 어디 있느냐?"(창 3:9)고 말씀하셨던 것이다. 그 당시 하나님께서 세우신 에덴 동산에는 하나님의 나라(왕국)와 천국이 동시에 있었던 것이다. 이때는 이미 하늘에서 마귀 루시퍼가 하나님께 반역하여 하늘에서 떨어졌기 때문에(사 14:12). 그 루시퍼 마귀가 뱀으로 나타나서 첫 사람을 유혹하여 하나님께서 금하신 나무의 열매를 먹고  아담과 이브는 그의 천국의 왕권을 마귀에게 넘겨주게 되었다. 그때부터 하나님의 나라(왕국)와 천국은 이 땅에서 사라지게 된 것이다.

       하나님께서는 하나님의 눈에서 은혜를 찾은 노아와 그의 가족을 택하시고 그외 모든 사람과 생물들을 씨들만 남겨두시고 모두 홍수로 멸하셨다. 홍수가 걷혔을 때 노아는 첫 사람 아담처럼 이 지구상에 유일한 왕이 되어 있었다. 하나님께서는 노아를 지상의 왕으로 다시 삼으시고 첫 사람 아담에게 주셨던 동일한 말씀을 주셨다: "다산하고 번성하여 땅을 다시 채우라. 너희를 두려워함이 땅의 모든 짐승들과, 공중의 새들과 따 위에서 움직이는  모든 것들과 바다의 모든 고기들에게 미치리니."(창 9:1-2)

노아는 아담의 뒤를 이어 천국을 다스리는 왕이 된 것이다. 그러나 노아는 술에 취하여 벌거벗고 침대에 누워 자다가 자신의 아들 함을 저주한다. 바벨에서 함의 후예들은 인종통합을 하려고 하늘에 닿는 탑을 쌓는다. 그들은 결국 온 땅에 흩어지게 된다. 천국은 또 한 번 사라진다.

       이 와중에서도 하나님께서는 노아를 대신할 왕을 찾으신다. 마침내 아브라함을 부르신다. 그리고 그에게 언약을 주시며 축복하신다. 그는 야고보서 2:23과 이사야 41:8에서 하나님의 친구로 불리며, 그의 왕국에 대해서 의심할 여지가 없다: "누가 동방에서 의인을 일으켜서 그를 자기 발 앞에 불렀으며, 민족들을 그 앞에 주어서 왕들을 다스리겠느냐?"(사 41:2) 아브라함은 왕권을 취한다. 아브라함은 실제적이고 물리적이며 눈에 보이는  지상의 지배권을 약속받는다(창 15:13-21). 아브라함에게 주어진 곳은 앞으로 지상의 왕국을 위해 선정된 장소로 미래에 이 땅의 마지막으로 치르는 주요 전쟁터인 팔레스타인 땅이다. 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱은  각각 차례로 실제적인  왕국의 축복을 받으며, 권세와 나라들에 대한 영향력을 행사한다.

       이제 아브라함에서 이삭으로 그리고 야곱과 유다로 이어진다. 유다는 실수를 하였지만 그가 행한 두 가지 책망을 자기 탓으로 돌림으로써 자신을 낮추었을 때 하나님께서는 그를 높이시어 천국을 다스릴  모든 미래의 모든 왕의 근원이 되게 하셨다: "홀이 유다에게서 떠나지 않을 것이며 실로가 올 때까지 입법자가 그의 발 사이에서 떠나지 아니하리니 그에게 백성의 모임이 있을지어다."(창 49:10)  유다는 천국의 왕들을 위하여 하나님께서 택하신 계보이다.

       그 이후에 하나님께서는 이스라엘의 멍에를 벗겨주기 위하여 모세를 일으키신다. 그는 왕이며 아브라함처럼 선지자이다. 그도 역시 천국의 왕인 것이다. 아직까지 하나님의 나라(왕국)는 임하지 않았고 천국만 있게 된 것이다. 그러나 출애굽기에서 급변이 일어난다. 갑자기 한 민족 이스라엘이 민족적으로 불러냄을 받아 "제사장들의 왕국"이 되는 것이다(출  19:6). 개개인이 하나님의 나라(왕국)에 들어가게 될 "새로운 탄생"(요 3:5)은 아직 나타나지 않았지만 이 나라는 진정한 제사장들의 왕국이 되는 것이다. 그리하여 출애굽기 19-22장에서 신정국가가 수립된다 이 신정국가의 지도자는 모세이고, 이 민족은 천국을 확장시키기 위한 나라로 선정된다.

이스라엘은 조건적 언약 하에서 약속의 땅으로 들어간다. 그러나 모세와 여호수아가 죽자마자 그 언약은 파기된다. 재판관기는 이것에 대하여 이렇게 말씀하신다: "그 당시에는 이스라엘에 왕이 없었으니, 사람마다 자기 눈에 옳은 대로 행하였더라."(판 21:25)

      이렇게 하나님의 말씀의 주요 주제는 왕국이다. 왜냐하면 성경에는 구원에 관한 구절보다 왕들 또는 왕국과 관련되는 구절이 다섯 배나 되기 때문이다. 왕국이라는 주제는 너무나 중요해서 성경의 두 책이 "열왕기"이며 다른 두 권은 "역대기"라고 불린다. 결국 왕국은 인간의 주요 관심사인 것이다. 이제 왕국에는 공백이 생긴다.

       마침내 사울이라는 왕이 등장한다. 그러나 결국 사울은 마귀에게 사로잡히게 된다. 이제 왕국은 마귀의 무대로 들어선다.  하지만 다윗이 왕관을 취한다. 왕관은 원래부터 다윗의 것이었다. 이 왕은 이스라엘이 율법 하에서 통일국가로서 갖게 된 첫번째 진짜 왕이다. 마태복음에서 그리스도의 계보에 속한 42명의 이름이 열거될 때, 이 이름들 중 단 하나만이 "왕"이라는 칭호를 갖고 있다(마 1:6). 그는 다윗이다. 다윗은 왕이다. 사울은 베냐민 지파였지만 다윗은 유다지파인 것이다. 사울은 애초부터 왕이 될 수 없었던 사람이었다. 그러나 이 왕국은 시드기야를 끝으로 더 이상 왕국이 없다. 마침내 BC606년에 이방나라 바벨론에 의해 그 왕국은 무너지고 이방인의 때가 시작된 것이다..

       그러나 하나님께서는 다니엘을 통해 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살의 꿈을 해석하게 될 때에, 한 형상에 대한 것으로서 앞으로 나타날 왕들과 왕국들을 다루고 있으며 이렇게 결말이 난다: "이들 왕들의 때에 하늘의 하나님께서 결코 멸망하지 않는 한 왕국을 세우시리니 그 왕국은 다른 백성에게 넘겨지지 않을 것이요, 도리어 그 왕국이 이 모든 왕국들을 쳐부수고 멸하여 영원히 설 것이니이다."(단 2:44)

       마침내 다니엘이 예언한 영원한 왕국의 왕이 되실 분이 나타난다. 침례인 요한이 그분에 대하여 전파하기를 "너희는 회개하라. 천국이 가까이 왔느니라."(마 3:2) 그러나 그분은 왕이 되시기 전에 자신의 왕국에 들어갈 사람들의 죄를 위해서 죽으셔야만 하셨다. 이에 대하여 요한은 그분에 대하여 "세상 죄를 제거하는 하나님의 어린양이라."(요 1:29)고 증거햇다. 하나님께서는 그분의 계획대로 천국의 왕이 십자가에서 죽도록 허락하셨다. 이때에 이 땅에 임할 천국은 연기되었지만, 그분을 믿고 영접하는 사람들 안에 성령을 주셔서 눈에 보이지 않는 영적인 하나님의 나라(왕국)가 임하게 하셨다.

오순절 이후 지난 이천 년 동안 그분을 믿은 수많은 사람들 안에 하나님의 나라(왕국)가 임했던 것이다. 그러나 조만간 그분께서 세상 끝에 다시 이 땅에 나타나실 때 그분은 만왕의 왕, 만주의 주로 오셔서 그분께서 친히 통치하심으로써(계 19-20장) 마지막 아담으로 오셔서 아담으로 인해 잃어버렸던 하나님의 나라(왕국)와 천국이 동시에 이 땅에 다시 임하게 될 것이다. 그 때에 하나님의 나라(왕국)와 천국이 그리스도 안에서 하나가 되어 영원무궁토록 이어지게 될 것이다(계 21-22장). 이 때에 성령 안에서 하나님의 왕국에 들어간 하나님의 교회는  그리스도의 신부로서 새 예루살렘에서, 그리고 거듭나지는 못했지만  하나님의 경륜 안에서 구원받은 모든 세대의 사람들은 새 땅에서 영원히 살면서 새 하늘들로 퍼져나가게 될 것이다. 또한 그리스도의 신부인 교회는  만물을 충만케 하시는 그리스도와 함께 영원무궁토록 온 우주를 충만케 하는 일을 영원무궁토록 하게 될 것이다. 이제 만물의 마지막이 가까웠으니 사도 베드로의 권고대로 우리는 정신을 차리고 깨어 기도하면서 영원하 함께 살게 될 성도들을 뜨겁게 사랑해야 할 것이다. 어떻게 뜨겁게 사랑할  것인가? 사랑은 허다한 죄들을 덮는 것이다. 또한 불평하지 말고 서로 대접하며 각 사람이 받은 은사대로, 하나님의 다양한 은혜를 받은 청지기 같이 서로 섬겨야 하는 것이다(벧전 4:7-10).. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 110:1-7

Subject: The theme of the scripture is Kingdom: Kingdom of God and Kingdom of heaven

       Whosoever search the scripture from Genesis through Revelation shall understand the theme of the scripture as "The Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ'". But unfortunately, most of all Christians recite the prayer that was taught by Jesus, but to fail to understand the true meaning of it. If any one understands himself or herself as a miserable sinner before God, and born again through believing on Jesus Christ as the Lord and Saviour, then he or she must search the scripture prior to any books in the world, for the scripture is directly related to their eternal inheritance. If he or she is not feeling studying the word of God in detail, must be not born again or lazy.

      The theme of the scripture is "the Kingdom". In other word, the purpose of God that gives salvation unto sinners is to let them enter into his kingdom. This is the reason why Jesus spoke unto a Pharisees, Nicodemus that was not born again when he visited Jesus in the night: Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God…. Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."(John 3:3,5)

A malefactor that was crucified with Jesus Christ spoke unto Jesus, "Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom."(Luke 23:42) Then

Jesus spoke unto him, "Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise."(Luke 23:43) He believed on Jesus as God that will establish his kingdom in heaven and earth.

       There appear two kinds of kingdom in the scripture. The one is the kingdom of God, and the other is the kingdom of heaven. The kingdom of God is the invisible and spiritual kingdom. Apostle Paul testified of the kingdom of God:" For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost."(Rom. 14:17)

And the kingdom of heaven is the visible and physical kingdom of God that shall be established in the earth.

      What about searching the scripture from Genesis through Revelation to understand this truth. First of all, we have to agree that God and heaven are different from each other. Genesis chapter one verse one clearly speaks, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."(Gen. 1:1)

God is the one that created heaven. God and heaven are related to each other as the creator and creation, not the same each other at all. King James Bible clearly separates the kingdom of God from the kingdom of heaven. Then we shall understand the main passage, "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven."(Matt. 6:10)

       God created the earth, and afterwards he made Adam as the first man, and made him the king that subdue all things within it. God himself abided with him in the Eden. God called upon Adam, when he hided himself after he sinned against God, and said unto him, "Where art thou?"(Gen. 3:9)

At that time, the kingdom of God and the kingdom of heaven existed together in the Mount Eden in the earth. The Lucifer, the devil had already been fallen, for he rebelled against God in heaven (Isa. 14:12); and the Lucifer appeared in the serpent to tempt the first man, and let him eat the fruit of the forbidden tree. This was the reason why his ruling power as the king of the earth was taken over by the devil. Henceforth, the kingdom of heaven disappeared from the earth as well as the kingdom of God.

         Afterwards, God chose Noah and his family who was looking for the grace from the eye of God. God destroyed all men and all the creatures only leaving the seed of them with the flood. When all the waters were gone, Noah became the only king in the earth again as Adam. This is the reason why God gave the same word as he gave Adam:" Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth. And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered."(Gen. 9:1,2)

Noah became the king reigning in the kingdom of heaven next to Adam. Even Noah was drunken, and slept naked, and he cursed Ham, one of his sons. Afterward, the descendants of Ham built the tower to unite all human beings in Babel; God scattered all of them to all the earth. The kingdom of heaven disappeared once again from the earth.

       In the midst of it, God was looking for another king instead of Noah. Finally, God called Abram. And God gave him a covenant with blessing. He was called the friend of God(James 2:23, Isaiah 41:8). There is no doubt for his kingdom: "Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow."(Isa. 41:2)

Abraham received the power of king. He received the ruling power of the earthly kingdom that is visible and physical (Gen. 15:13-21). The land that was given unto Abraham is the place that shall be chosen as the kingdom of heaven in the future; the land is called as Palestine where shall be the place for the final war. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob had been blessed in the kingdom of heaven; and they exercised their power unto all the nations at that time.

       Afterward, God raised Moses to free the people of Israel from their their captivity. Moses was also the king as well as prophet as Abraham. He was also the king in the kingdom of heaven. The kingdom of God had not appeared yet, only the kingdom of heaven was revealed. But in the book of Exodus, there came to pass a  sudden change. All of sudden, the people of Israel were called as a nation to be the kingdom of priest (Ex. 19:6).

The new birth that is to have individual to enter into the kingdom of God was not revealed yet by that time, the nation of Israel shall be the kingdom of priest. Finally, a nation that was ruled by God was established (Ex. 19:22). The leader of the divine nation was Moses; and Israel was chosen to expand the kingdom of heaven in the earth. The nation of Israel entered into the promised land under the conditional covenant. But the covenant was abolished after Moses and Joshua died. The book of Judge teatifies of this: "In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes."(Judge 21:25)

       As we see, the main theme of the word of God is the kingdom.

There are five times more verses of kings and kingdoms than of salvation in the scriptures. This theme of kingdom is so important that the two book of the scriptures are and the other two books are Chronicles of the kings. After all, the kingdom is the main interest in the human history. Now, there happens to be the period of blank of the kingdom.

       Finally, king, Saul appeared in the stage. But he is posessed by the devil after all. Now his kingdom invited the devil on the stage. But David took over the crown of the king; the crown was his own, not Saul from the beginning. King David is the first true king in the unified Israel under the law of God. In the book of Matthews, 42 kings appear in the genealogy of Christ; but only one has the title of king; he is king David (Matt. 1:6). David is king. Saul is in  the tribe of Benjamin, but David is in the tribe of Judah. Saul was not supposed to be king from the beginning. But the kingdom of Israel was ended with king Zedekiah when the kingdom was destroyed by Babylon, the kingdom of the Gentile in BC606. Finally the time of the Gentiles began.

       But God showed the kings and the kingdoms to appear in the future in the image through Daniel when he interpret the dream of king Nebuchadnezzar:" And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever."(Dan 2:44)

          At last, the king of the eternal kingdom appeared as prophesied by Daniel. John the Baptist preached to testified of him, "Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."(Matt. 3;2) He had to die first for the sins of them that were going to enter into his kingdom. John the Baptist again testified of him as the redeemer of sins saying, "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world."(John 1:29)

God allowed the kingdom of heaven to be crucified according to his plan. The kingdom of heaven in the earth had to be postponed for a while; instead, the kingdom of God in the Holy Ghost invisibly and spiritually was presented within them that receive him as the Lord and the Saviour.

       Sooner or later, he will appear in the earth as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords at the end of the world to reign(Rev. 19-20). He will come as the last Adam, and he will restore the kingdom of heaven and the kingdom of God in the earth that were lost by Adam. Then, the two kingdoms shall be one in Christ Jesus the Lord forever and ever (Rev. 21-22). And then the church of God that entered into the kingdom of God in the Holy Ghost shall dwell in the New Jerusalem forever as the bride of Christ; all the people that are saved in the dispensations of God shall live in the new earth and disperse into the new heavens forever even though they are not born of the Holy Ghost. And the church of God, the bride of Christ shall fill all in all with Christ travelling all the universe forever.

       Now, the end of all things is at hand; therefore we have to be sober, and watch unto prayer. Above all things we have to have fervent charity among ourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. We have to use hospitality one to another without grudging. And every man has minister one to another using the gift as good stewards of his manifold grace of God (1Pet. 4:7-10) Amen! hallelujah!
