금주의 묵상:  시편 32:1-11

본문: 요한계시록 20:11-15

제목:  하나님의 백보좌 심판석을 피할 변호사를 선임하였는가?

          그리스도인을 포함하여 대부분의 사람들이 문제들을 자신에게 초점을 맞추지 않고 다른 사람들에게 맞추는 이상한 경향이 있는 것을 본다. 예수님께서 니고데모에게 "사람이 거듭나지 아니하면 하나님의 나라(왕국)를 볼 수 없느니라."(요 3:3)고 말씀하셨을 때, 그는 "사람이 늙으면 어떻게 태어날 수 있나이까? 사람이 자기 어머니의 태에 두 번째 들어갔다가 태어날 수 있나이까?"(요 3:4)라고 물었다. 그는 거듭나는 문제를 자신이 아닌 다른 사람에게 초점을 맞춘 것이다. 그는 "내가 어떻게 거듭날 수 있나이까?"라고 묻지 않았던 것이다.

       오늘날에도 많은 그리스도인들이 최후의 심판인 백보좌 심판에 대하여 들을 때에 어떤 사람들이 그 자리에 설 것인가에 대하여 많은 이야기들을 한다. 또한 논쟁을 좋아하는 사람들은 "백보좌 심판석에 서는 사람들은 모두 불못으로 떨어진다."라고 말하기도 하고 "그곳에서도 구원받을 사람들이 있다."라고 말하기도 한다. 오늘 이 사간에는 어떤 말이 맞는지에 대하여 교리적인 논쟁은 접어두고 나 자신이 그 자리에 서게 될 것인지? 아닌지?에 대하여 확인하는 것이 지혜로울 것이다. 은혜 시대가 아닌 양심 시대나 율법 시대나 환란 시대에 살았던 사람들이 어떻게 될까 하는 생각들은 접어두고 지금 이 시간 은혜 시대에 살고 있는 우리 자신에 대한 생각만을 해 보자.

        그러면 어떤 사람들이 그 자리에 서게 될 것인가?

첫째로, 죽은 자들이다. 어떻게 죽은 자들이 설 수 있는가? 분명히 죽은 자들은 이미 육신이 죽어서 썩어 소멸된 사람들이다. 그러므로, 본문에서 죽은 자들은 죽은 자들의 혼(魂)들임을 알 수 있다. 누가복은 16장(19-31절)에서 어떤 부자가 죽어 지옥에서 아브라함에게 말하는 장면을 볼 수 있다.  그 죽은 자는 말도 하고, 자신의 혀에 물을 적셔달라고 애원하기도 한다. 또한 불꽃 가운데 타서 소멸되지도 않고 고통을 받고 있다. 그 부자의 몸은 무덤에서 이미 썩어서 부패되었지만 그의 혼(魂)이 말하고 있는 것이다. 그렇다면 혼(魂)이 무엇인가? 하나님께서 사람을 지으실 때 땅의 흙으로 지으시고 그의 콧구멍에다 생명의 호흡을 불어넣으시니 살아 있는 혼(魂)(living soul)이 되었다(창 2:7). 다시 말해서 하나님께서 세  신격(아버지, 말씀, 성령)이 하나이신 것같이(요일 5:7) 사람도 하나님의 형상을 따라 몸과 혼(魂)과 영이 하나로 창조된 것이다. 그리고 하나님의 본체가 하나님 아버지이신 것처럼 사람의 본체가 혼(魂)이 된 것이다. 즉 사람의 몸은 혼이 거하는 집인 것이다. 그러므로 사람의 눈은 혼이 내다보는 창이며, 머리털은 지붕이며, 눈썹은 집 처마의 물받이이며 손과 발은 혼이 활동하기 위한 도구가 되는 것이다. 또한 죽은 사람은 벌거벗고 서 있는 사람의 모습으로 보일 것이다. 추운 겨울에 홈리스가 되어 밖에서 떨고 있는 사람의 모습도 처절한데 몸을 벗어버리고 벌거벗은 혼(魂)은 얼마나 비참하겠는가?

     둘째로, 왜 그들이 백보좌 심판대에 서 있는가? 죽은자들은 자기들의 평생 동안 행한 자신들의 행위에 따라 심판을 받기 위하여 서 있는 것이다. 다시 말해서 그들은 그들을 대변해 줄 어떤 변호사도 없이 홀로 서서 자신들의 행위록에 기록된 대로 심판을 받기 위하여 서 있는 것이다. 또한 누구든지 생명의 책에 기록되지 않은 자는 불못에 던져지는 것이다. 이때에 자신의 행위에 따라 심판을 받기 위하여 서 있는 죽은 자들은 소스라치게 놀라게 될 것이다. 그리고 하나님께 마지막 절규를 하게 될 것이다. 그들의 행위록이 펴질 때 그들은 자신들이 행하지 않았다고 생각했던 엄청난 죄들이 자신의 행위록에 빡빡하게 기록된 것을 보게 될 것이기 때문이다. 아무리 착하게 살았던 사람이라할지라도 그들의 행위록에서 살인, 간음, 음행, 도둑질, 교만, 어리석음 등을 보게 될 것이다. 그들이 살아있었을 때에는 그러한 죄들이 자신과 상관이 없었던 것으로 여기고 살았었는데 심판석에 서서 그들의 행위록을 보게 될 때에 비로소 그들은 자신도 모르는 사이에 그 죄들을 행하였고 또한 그 죄들이 자신들 안에 깊히 뿌리박혀 있었던 것을 비로소 알게 될 것이다.

       예수님 당시에 예수님을 따라다니면서 자신들이 의로운 것처럼 위선을 떨던 바리새인들과 서기관들을 기억하는가? 주님의 제자들이 손을 씻지 않고 식사를 하는 것을 보고 그들이 "장로들의 전통을 따르지 않는가?" 라고 말하면서 "당신의 제자들은 더러운 자들"이라고 말했을 때, 주님께서 그들에게 하신 말씀이 무엇인가? 그들 마음 속에 있는 죄들에 대하여 "악한 생각과 간음과 음행과 살인과 도둑질과 탐욕과 악의와 사기와 방탕과 악한 눈과 하나님을 모독함과 교만과 어리석음"(막 7:22,23)이라고 말씀하셨다. 주님을 힐난하던 바리새인들과 서기관들은 이 하나님의 백보좌 심판석에 서게 될 것이다. 그때 그들은 자신들이 살인자들이었기 때문에 예수님을 죽였다는 사실을 깨닫게 될 것이다. 그때 가서 그들은 비로소 그들이 변호사가 없다는 사실을 알게 될 것이며 비록 그때 가서 예수님을 알게 될지라도 예수님은 그들을 변호하실 수 없다는 것을 알고 슬피 울며 이를 갈면서 불못으로 떨어지게 될 것이다.

       마지막 최후의 심판석에 서지 않는 유일한 방법은 지금 이 시간에 변호사를 선임하는 것이다. 그러나 세상에 어떤 변호사도 하나님의 법정에서 변호사가 될 수 없다. 모두가 동일한 죄인들이며, 그들 역시 백보좌 심판대에 서야 할 사람들이기 때문이다.. 그분은 예수라는 이름으로 이 땅에 성령으로 잉태되시고 태어나셨던 하나님이시다. 이 사실을 알려주시기 위해 그분께서는 "나는 길이요 진리요 생명이라, 나로 말미암지 않고는 아버지께로 올 사람이 없느니라."(요 14:6)고 말씀하셨다. 다시 말해서 자신만이 모든 죄들을 변호해 줄 유일하신 분이심을 말씀하신 것이다. 지금 그분의 말씀을 믿지 않아도 된다. 그러나 그날에 가서는 누구나 알게 될 것이다. 그러나 그때 그분께 사정하며 용서를 구해도 그분께서는 "때가 늦었다."고 말씀하실 수 밖에 없으실 것이다. 아마도 눈물을 흘리시면서 말이다.

       사도 바울은 모든 죄인들의 변호사를 선임하는 것에 대하여 증거했다. 이 변호사를 선임하는데 드는 비용은 너무나 어머어마한 금액이어서 어느누구도 지불할 수 없는 금액이다.  그러나 누구든지 원하기만 하면 하나님의 왕국에서 선임한 변호사의 도움을 받을 수 있다. 하나님의 법정에서 고소하는 검사는 마귀이며 그는 모든 증거들을 완벽하게 가지고 있다. 보통 변호사들은 그 증거를 피할 길을 찾아주고 형량을 가볍게 하는 대가로 많은 돈을 요구하지만 이 세상 어떤 변호사도 그럴만한 능력이 없다. 그러나 모든 죄인들을 변호하시기 위하여 이 땅에 나타나신 하나님이신 예수 그리스도께서 변호하시는 방법은 이 세상 변호사들과는 완전 다르시다. 그분께서는 자신이 피고인 모든 세상 죄인들의 죄들을 자신의 몸에 전가 받아 제거하시고 대신 죽으신 변호사이신 것이다. 자, 어떻게 이 변호사를 선임하는가? 죽기 전에 선임하지 않으면 아무 소용이 없다. 선임하는 데 어떤 돈도 들지 않는다. 다만 그분을 믿기만 하면 된다. 이 세상에 이런 변호사가 어디 있겠는가? 자, 아직까지 선임하지 않았다면, 지금 이 시간에 그분을 정식으로 선임하지 않겠는가? "성경대로 그리스도께서 우리 죄들로 인하여 죽으시고 장사되셨  다가 성경대로 셋째 날에 다시 살아나신 사실"(고전 15:3,4)을 굳게 잡고 헛되이 믿지 않으면 백보좌 심판으로부터 구원을 받아 생명의 책에 기록되는 것이다. 이 얼마나 좋은 복음의 소식인가?

       사도 바울은 그분을 믿어서 생명의 책에 기록된 사실을 에베소 교회 성도들에게 증거했다: "허물과 죄들 가운데서 죽었던 너희를 그가 살리셨으니, 전에는 너희가 그것들 가운데서 이 세상의 풍조를 따르고 공중 권세의 통치자, 곧 지금은 불순종의 자녀들 안에서 역사하는 영을 따라 행하였으니 그들 가운데서 우리가 모두가 이전에는 우리 육신의 정욕들 가운데서 행하였으며 육신과 마음의 욕망들을 이루어 다른 자들과 마찬가지로 본래 진노의 자녀였느니라. 그러나 자비가 풍성하신 하나님께서 우리를 사랑하신 그의 큰 사랑으로 인하여 죄들 가운데서 죽었던 우리를 그리스도와 함께 살리셨으니 (너희가 은혜로 구원을 받은 것이니라.) 또 함께 일으키사 그리스도 예수 안에서 천상에 함께 앉히셨으니 …너희가 믿음으로 말미암아 은혜로 구원을 받았으니 이것은 너희에게서 난 것이 아니요, 하나님의 선물이라. 행위에서 난 것이 아니니 아무도 자랑하지 못하게 하려 하심이라."(엡 2:1-6,7-9)

       그렇다! 아무리 행위를 바르게 하려고 노력해도 사람 안에 있는 죄들은 어찌할 수 없는 것이다. 이 사실을 알아야 예수님을 믿을 수밖에 없는 것을 깨닫게 되는 것이다. 예수께서 하신 말씀 속에서 우리는 이 사실을 깨달을 수 있다. "너희는 옛 사람에게서 '너는 간음하지 말지니라.'고 한 말씀을 들었으나, 내가 너희에게 말하노니, 음욕을 품고 여자를 바라보는 자는 누구나 그의 마음에 그녀와 더불어 이미 간음하였느니라."(마5:27,28)

사람들이 말하는 죄의 관점과 하나님께서 보시는 것과는 하늘과 땅의 차이인 것을 알아야 한다. 사람들의 관점은 죄를 지어도 들키지 않으면 죄가 성립되지 않는다. 그러나 하나님은 자신도 모르는 사이에 지은 죄들과 사람 속에 깊히 박혀 있는 죄들을 보시고 이미 죄를 지은 것으로 간주하시는 것이다. 사람들이 이 사실을 모르기 때문에 자신들이 죄인임을 감추고 있다가 백보좌 심판석에 설 때 비로소 알게 되는 것이다. 이 얼마나 비참한 일이 될 것인가?

     모든 죄인들의 변호사이신 예수 그리스도께서는 지금도 누구든지 죄인임을 인정하여 고백하고 그분을 지금까지 믿지 않았던 죄를 회개하고 그분을 믿어 영접하기만 하면 이미 그분께서 세상 죄들을 위해 이미 죽으셔서 심판을 받으셨기 때문에 더 이상 백보좌에서 있을 최후의 심판에 서지 않는 것이다. 아 얼마나 큰 은혜인가? 어느누가 감히 예수님 앞에서 자신의 행위를 주장하면서 의롭다 하겠는가? 성경은 온 세상에 이미 선포하셨다: "의인은 없나니 없도다. 한 사람도 없도다. 깨닫는 자도 없고 하나님을 찾는 자도 없도다. 모두가 탈선하여 함께 무익하게 되었으며 선을 행하는 자가 없으니 없도다 한 사람도 없도다."(롬 3:10-12) 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 32:1-11

Subject: Have you ever hired the counsel to avoid the Judgment Seat of White Throne of God?

       Most of people including Christian not focus on themselves for their problems, but rather tend to focus on other people. Jesus spoke unto Nicodemus, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."(John 3:3) Then, he asked Jesus saying, "How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?"(John 3:4)

He didn't focus on himself, but others saying, "How a man," not himself.

He didn't asked Jesus, "How can I be born again?"

      Even nowadays, many Christians like to talk about what kinds of people shall stand before the Judgment Seat of white throne of God. Some people like to debate whether all of them standing before that judgment seat may be cast into the lake of fire or some of them shall be saved. Setting aside the doctrinal debate, what about figuring out whether we shall stand before the final judgment seat or not. Let us set aside the people that lived in the generation before the law of God manifested, and the days of the Old testament period, and the generation in the Great Tribulation; and let us focus on us that are living in the age of grace.

       Then, what kinds of people shall stand before the final judgment seat of God?  Firstly, they are dead. How the dead can stand up? Their body must nave been corrupted returning to dust long time ago. We can easily understand that the dead are their souls. In the book of Luke chapter 16 (verses 19-31), a rich man died, and went to the hell; he cries out to Abraham. The dead man speaks, and asks Abraham to wet his tongue with water. And he is in torment in the midst of fire, but he is not consumed. The, what kind of situation it is?  Even though his body had been corrupted to dust in the grave, his soul is speaking to Abraham. Then, what is the soul? The LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul (Gen. 2:7). In other word, as three God's heads (Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost) are one(1John 5:7), man was created as a trinity of body, soul and spirit in the image of God and his likeness. As God the Father is God himself, the soul of man is man himself. That's to say, the body of man is the house where the soul dwells. Therefore, the eyes are the windows for the soul look out; hair is the roof; and eyebrow are rain gutters; and hand and feet are the instrument of acting for the soul. Therefore, the dead shall be seen as the naked man. How much miserable the naked soul shall be? They shall be more miserable than homeless people trembling outside in severe winter night.

       Secondly, why should they stand before the judgment seat of God? They stand to be judged according to their works that they have done during their whole life. In other word, they are waiting for the judgment standing alone without their counsel. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. The dead shall be surprised totally unexpectedly with the final exclamation of scream. They shall find the detailed lists of their sins in the book of their works even though they never thought they did such as murder, adultery, fornication, theft, pride, foolishness and so on. They never thought they actually did those kinds of sin, but finally they shall understand they actually did those sins. They shall find those sins are rooted deeply into their heart.

       Do you remember the hypocrites who thoughts themselves righteous; they used to follow Jesus to accuse?  They were Pharisees and Scribes. Upon seeing the disciples of Jesus not wash their hand before eat, they accused them saying, "They walk not according to the tradition of the elders." meaning, they are defiled. Jesus answered them showing all kind of sin in their heart such as  "Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:"(Mark 7:22,23) The Pharisees and the Scribes shall stand before the final judgment seat of God. Then they shall understand that they killed Jesus because they were murders. They couldn't find their counsel at all by that time at the court of God; and finally they shall find out they desperately need Jesus as their only counsel; but it shall be too late for them. They shall be casing put into the lake of fire weeping themselves even gnashing their teeth.

       The only way to waive the final judgment seat of God is to hire the counsel now. No one of any attorneys cannot be our counsel in the court of God, for all of them are sinners, even they have to stand before the final court of God. The only counsel for us is God manifested in flesh conceived by the Holy Ghost and born in the name of Jesus.  This is why he testified of himself saying, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."(John 14:6)

In other word, he revealed only himself as the counsel in the final court of God.  You may not believe on him as your counsel now. But you shall understand him the counsel in the day. However excuse yourself to him begging saying ":I didn't know you, forgive me!!!" Only word for you shall be "It's too late!" may be with tears in his eyes.

       Apostle Paul testified of hiring the counsel for sinners. It takes a great amount of money to hire this counsel so that no one can afford to pay. But whosoever may want to hire him, they shall be helped by the counsel sponsored by the kingdom of God. The devil shall be presenting as the district attorney. he has all the evidences of the sinners to prove their sins. All the attorneys charge a lot of money for their service through finding evidences to be not guilty or lightening their final sentence. Any attorney in this world are not qualified to be the counsel in the final court of God. Jesus Christ, God incarnate appeared in the world to be the counsel for all sinners; he is totally different from the earthly attorneys. He took away the sin of the world into his flesh, and died. Then, how can we hire him? It should be done before we die. It is free to receive his service, but instead we have to believe on him as the counsel. There is no such kind of attorney in this world. What about hiring him as your counsel, if you have not done yet?  If you believe not in vain, "Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures."(1Cor. 15:3,4), You are not guilty in the final court to be free from the final judgment seat of God; it is the way to have your name be written if the book of life. What a gospel of the good news?

        Apostle Paul testified of his name written in the book of life unto the saints of Ephesians: And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:… For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."(Eph. 2:1-6, 8-9)

       Yea! However we may try to keep righteous, we cannot cast out the sins within us. Knowing this truth, we shall understand no other way but to believe on Jesus. Jesus reminded of this: "Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart."(Matt. 5:27, 28)

We have to understand the difference of the view point of sin as much  heaven and earth between men and God. Men not regard as sin even though they sinned, if the sins are not caught. But God regard sins that are rooted  in their heart, even though they not committed yet. Being ignorant of this, they try to hide their sins until the time when they stand before the final judgment seat of God. What a miserable thing it should be?

         Whosoever judge himself as sinner, and repent that he not believed on him to receive him shall not stand before the final judgment seat of God anymore, because Jesus Christ, the counsel of all sinners had already received the judgment and died for the sin of the world. What a great grace it is! Whosoever can boast himself of their righteous before Jesus Christ? The scripture already has proclaimed to the world:

"There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one."(Rom. 3:10-12) Amen! Hallelujah!
