금주의 묵상: 시편 138:1-8

본문: 로마서 8:28-31

제목: 하나님의 목적에 따라 부르심을 받은 자들의 고난과 영원한 보장

        사도 바울은 하나님의 목적에 따라 부르심을 받은 자들은 하나님을 사랑하는 자들이라고 증거하고 있습니다. 그렇다면 누가 하나님을 사랑하는 자들입니까? 하나님께서 독생자도 아끼지 아니하시고 비참한 죄인을 위하여 내어주신 사실을 믿고 생명을 받은 사람만이 하나님을 사랑할 수 있는 것입니다. 예수께서는 니고네모에게 “하나님이 세상을 이처럼 사랑하셔서 그의 독생자를 주셨으니, 이는 그를 믿는 사람은 누구든지 멸망하지 않고 영생을 얻게 하려 하심이라.”(요 3:16)고 말씀하셨습니다. 누구든지 예수 그리스도를 믿는 사람은 하나님의 사랑을 받은 사람입니다. 하나님의 사랑을 받은 사람만이 하나님을 사랑할 수 있습니다. 하나님의 사랑은 성령을 통하여 영원한 생명을 주신 것입니다.

     사도 바울은 하나님을 사랑하는 자들을 위한 하나님의 목적은 성령을 통하여 하나님의 아들들, 즉 양자로 예정되었다고(롬 8:14, 엡 1:5) 증거합니다. 또한 성령께서 그들 안에서 하나님의 자녀가 된 것을 증거하신다고 말씀하고 있습니다(롬 8:16). 또한 하나님의 자녀가 되게 하신 목적은 하나님의 상속자가 되게 하기 위한 것이라고 증거하고 있으며, 둥시에 하나님의 독생자이신 예수 그리스도와 함께한 공동상속자가 되게 하시기 위한 목적으로 아들들이 되게 하셨다고 증거합니다. 그리고 하나님의 아들들은 예수 그리스도계서 이 땅에 계실 때에 고난을 받으신 것처럼 함께 고난을 받아야 하며, 그리스도께서 앞으로 다시 오실 때 영광을 받으시는 것처럼 영광도 함께 받도록 예정하셨다는 것입니다.

       그러므로, 하나님의 자녀들은 이 땅에 사는 동안 여러가지 일들을 겪게 될 것이나 모든 일들이 결국은 선을 이루게 될 것이라는 보장을 주시는 약속인 것입니다. 사실, 모든 일들에는 하나님의 자녀들이 원치않는 일들이 훨씬 많은 것이 분명합니다. 하나님께서는 죄인들을 부르시어 자녀삼으신 목적이 독생자이신 예수 그리스도의 형상과 일치하게 만드시기 위한 것이라고 사도 바울은 분명하게 증거하고 있습니다. 예수 그리스도는 죄가 없으신 거룩하신 하나님이신데 어떻게 죄인들이 예수 그리스도를 믿어 하나님의 아들들이 되었을 때 예수 그리스도와 일치하게 될 수 있는지에 대하여 깊이 묵상해야 할 것입니다.

       하나님께서는 태초부터 하나님과 함꼐 계셨던 아들 하나님으로 하여금 죄인인 마리아의 태 속에서 성령으로 잉태하게 하셔서 성령으로 태어난 첫태생이 되게 하셨습니다. 다시 말해서 예수님은 성령으로 태어나신 첫 사람이 되신 것입니다. 뿐만 아니라 죄인임을 인정하고 예수 그리스도께서 자신의 죄들을 위하여 성경대로 죽으시고 장사되셨다가 성경대로 셋째 날에 살아나신 복음을 믿고 예수 그리스도를 믿어 영접한 사람은 그리스도의 피로 모든 죄들이 제거되어(요 1:29) 사함받은 증거로 성령을 받아 다시 태어난 새 피조물이 되게 하신 것입니다. 그러나 영이 거듭나고 혼이 구원받았을지라도 아직도 죄의 몸 안에 살 수밖에 없는 것입니다. 그러므로 죄의 몸 안에 사는 동안 예수 그리스도와 일치하기 위한 경건한 삶을 살아야 한다고 사도 바울이 증거하고 있습니다.

       하나님의 자녀로 거듭났을지라도 여전히 몸은 죄의 몸인데 어떻게 예수 그리스도의 형상과 일치할 수 있겠습니까? 하나님의 자녀들이 분명히 알아야 할 것은 그들이 구원을 받을 때 그리스도의 할례를 받게 된다는 것입니다. 그리스도의 할례는 육신의 죄들의 몸을 벗어버린 것입니다(골 2:11). 다시 말해서 성령으로 거듭난 후에는 비록 죄의 몸 안에 살고는 있지만 더 이상 죄의 몸을 따라가지 않고 성령을 따라갈 수 있다는 것입니다. 성령을 따라갈 때 그리스도의 형상이 되어가는 것입니다. 하나님의 자녀들이 받은 구원은 죄의 몸이 아니라 혼이라고 사도 베드로가 분명하게 증거했습니다(벧전 1:9). 그러므로 그리스도의 형상과 일치하기 위해서는 혼이 정결하게 되어야 하는 것입니다. 사도 베드로는 혼이 정결하게 되는 것에 대하여 “너희가 성령을 통하여진리에 순종함으로써 너희의 혼들을 정결케 하여 가식 없는 형제 사랑에 이르렀으니 순결한 마음으로 서로 뜨겁게 사랑하라.”(벧전 1:22)고 증거했습니다. 그렇습니다. 하나님의 자녀들의 삶은 진리인 하나님의 말씀에 순종하는 삶인 것입니다. 예수 그리스도는 하나님의 말씀이십니다. 그러므로 하나님의 말씀에 순종하는 것이 바로 예수 그리스도와 일치하는 길인 것입니다.

        하나님의 아들들에 대한 하나님의 목적은 확고한 것입니다. 그러므로 하나님의 손에서 아무도 빠져나갈 수 없는 것입니다. 그러므로 하나님의 자녀들은 진리인 하나님의 말씀을 마음판에 새겨서 말씀대로 행하는 삶을 살아야 하는 것입니다. 거룩하게 하시는 분과 거룩하게 된사람들이 모두 한 분으로부터 나왔으니, 그러므로 주께서 그들을 형제라 부르기를 부끄러워 아니하신다고 사도 바울이 증거했습니다 (히 2:11) 사도 요한이 증거한 것처럼 거듭난 하나님의 자녀들은 더 이상 혈로나 육신의 뜻으로나 또한 사람의 뜻으로 나지 아니하였고 하나님에게서 난 자들인 것입니다. 이 얼마나 황송한 말씀입니까? 어떻게 죄인들이 하나님이신 예수 그리스도의 형제라 불릴 수 있단 말입니까? 또 어떻게 창조주 하나님의 아들들이라 불려질 수 있단 말입니까? 또한 하나님께서는 구원받은 죄인들에 대하여 그들의 하나님이라 불리는 것을 부끄러워하지 아니하시고 그들을 위하여 한 도성을 예비하셨다고 성경은 말씀하십니다(히 11:16).

      하나님께서 아들들을 자신의 아들의 형상과 일치하게 하시는 목적을 이루시기 위하여 얼마나 많은 고난들이 앞에 기다리고 있는지 상상할 수 있지 않겠습니까? 하나님께 욥에게 허락하셨던 일들을 묵상해 보면 하나님께서는 혼 속에 들어있는 하나님보다 높아있는 사람의 의를 제거하시기 위하여 얼마나 많은 일들을 하셔야 하는지 예상하면서 살아야 하는 것입니다. 그러나 하나님께서는 자신의 아들들을 절대로 버리시지 않는다는 영원한 보장이 있기에 끝까지 인내하면서 토기장이이신 하나님의 손 안에서 만들어져가야 하는 것입니다.

       하나님께서 자신의 아들을 믿는 믿음 안에서 아들들로 택하신 자들에게 아무도 혐의를 씌울 수 없다고 말씀하시는 것은 하나님의 아들의 피를 통하여 의롭다고 하셨기 때문이라고 말씀하십니다. 또한 하나님의 아들들이 죄를 지었다고 해서 아무도 그들을 정죄할 수 없다는 것입니다. 이는 그리스도께서 모든 죄들을 담당하시고 죽으심으로써 이미 자신의 육체가 정죄를 당하시고(롬 8:3) 죽으셨기 때문이라고 말씀하십니다. 뿐만 아니라, 그분께서는 하나님의 오른편에 계셔서 중보하시기 때문입니다.

       구원받은 혼이 그리스도의 형상과 일치하는 과정에는 상상하기 어려울 정도로 많은 고난이 따른다는 사실을 잊어서는 안될 것입니다. 하나님의 자녀들이 받은 구원은 법적인 구원이기 때문에 이 땅에 사는 동안 여전히 죄인의 모습을 가진 혼이 정결하게 되도록 노력해야 하는 것입니다. 비록 혹독한 고난 속에서 육신이 죽을지라도 하나님께서는 그 혼을 받아드리심으로써 선을 이루시는 것입니다. 하나님께서는 부르신 자들을 의롭게 하시고 또한 영화롭게 하시기를 원하십니다. 이에 대하여 사도바울은 골로새에 있는 성도들에게 “그러므로 너희가 그리스도와 함께 살아났으면 위에 있는 것들을 구하라. 거기에는 그리스도께서 하나님의 오른편에 앉아 계시느니라. 위에 있는 것들에 너희 마음을 두고 땅에 있는 것들에 마음을 두지 말라. 이는 너희가 죽었고 또 너희의 생명이 그리스도와 함께 하나님 안에 감추어졌기 때문이라. 우리의 생명이신 그리스도께서 나타나실 때 그때 너희도 그와 함께 영광 가운데 나타날 것이라.”(골 3:1-4) 고 증거했습니다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 138:1-8

Main scripture: Romans 8:28-31

Subject: Suffering for them that are called according to the will of God, and their eternal security

         Apostle Paul testified of them that are called according to the will of God; and they are ones that love God. Then, who are they that love God? Only they that received the life eternal through believing on God that not saved but rather delivered his only begotten Son up for miserable sinners. Jesus, the only begotten Son of God spoke unto Nicodemus, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”(John 3:16)

Whosoever has believed on Jesus Christ has already received the love of God. Only they that received love of God can love. The love of God is the life eternal given through the Holy Ghost.

        Apostle Paul testified, the purpose of God for them that love him is to predestine them unto the adoption of children through the Holy Ghost (Rom. 8:14, Eph. 1:5); and the Spirit itself bears witness with their spirit, that they are the children of God (Rom. 8:16); the children of God are destined to be the heir of God, and at the same time to be the joint-heirs with Christ that is the only begotten Son of God. The children of God are supposed to suffer as Jesus Christ suffered in the earth; and also they are destined to be glorified when Jesus Christ come again as he is to be glorified.

        Therefore, even though the children of God shall pass through various suffering in the earth, but all things shall work together for good; this is the promise of security.  Among all things, there shall be much more of unwanted afflictions rather than good things. Apostle Paul testified of the purpose of God that called sinners to make them his children that are to be conformed to the image of his Son. We have to meditate deeply how sinners could be conformed  to the image of Jesus Christ that has no sin at all?

        God made God that was with God in the beginning to be conceived in the womb of a sinner, Mary to make him the firstborn. In other word, Jesus became the first man that is born of the Holy Ghost. Not only this, he makes sinners to be new creatures born of the same Spirit whosoever believes him that died for their sins according to the scriptures, and buried, and rose again the third day according to the scriptures through his blood taking away all sins (John 1:29). But they are still living in the body of sin; and this is the reason why they have to live in godliness.

         How the born again children of God could be conformed to be the image of Jesus Christ even living in the body of sin? It is very important thing for the children of God to know; they are circumcised of Christ that put off the body of the sins when they are saved(Col. 2:11). In other word, they can follow the Holy Ghost, not the body of the sins any more even though they are still living in the body of the sins. Following the Spirit is the way to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ. Apostle Peter clearly testified that the end of faith is  the salvation of soul, not the body of the sins (1Pet. 1:9). Therefore our souls should be purified to be conformed to be the image of Christ. Apostle Peter testified of how the soul to be purified:

 “Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:”(1Pet. 1:22)

Yes! The life of the children of God is to obey the truth that is the word of God. Jesus Christ himself is the Word of God. This is the very reason why obeying the word of truth is the way to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ.

       The purpose of God toward the children of God is very firm. No one can flee from the hands of God. Therefore the children of God should engrave the word of God that is truth to obey the word. Apostle Paul testified:

  “For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,”(Heb. 2:11)

Apostle John also testified of the children of God:

  “Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”(John 1:13)

What a grateful thing it is! How the sinners are dare to be called the brothers of Jesus Christ? How could they be called the children of God, the Creator?  And how God is not ashamed to be called their God? And how he has prepared for them a city (Heb. 11:16).

        Can we imagine  How many sufferings are waiting for the children of God to achieve the purpose of God to make them to be conformed to the image of his Son? If we meditate many things that were allowed by God, we have to expect how much God has to do to take away our righteousness in our souls that is higher than God. But we don’t have to worry about it, for God secures not to forsake us eternally. Therefore we have to stay with patience in the hands of God that is the potter until we are made to be the image of his Son.

        Apostle Paul testified of the children of God saying, who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifies, for God justifies them through the blood of his Son. Even though his children sin, no one can condemn them, for Jesus Christ died for their sins condemning sin in his flesh (Rom. 8:3). Not only this, but he is making intercession for us.

        We should not forget unimaginable sufferings following saved souls in the process of conforming our souls to the image of Christ. The salvation of the children of God is the one that is legal; this is the reason why we have to put unceasing efforts for our souls to be purified. Even though we fail to endure to the end, God will receive our souls to make all things work together for good. God wants to justify them that he called, as well as to glorify. Apostle Paul testified of this:

 “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.”(Col. 3:1-4)
