금주의 묵상: 시편 24:1-10

본문: 로마서 6:14-23

제목:  너희지체를의의종으로드려거룩함에이르라!

        예수께서는 유대인 제자들에게 기도에 대하여 가르치실 때에 “하늘에 계신 우리 아버지, 아버지의이름이거룩하게 되시옵고.”(마 6:9)라고 기도하라고 말씀하셨습니다. 죄가 없어야 거룩한 자가 될 수 있는 바 하늘과 땅에 죄 없는 분은 오직 하나님 한 분밖에 없으니 하나님의 이름만이 거룩히 여김을받으셔야 하는 것입니다.

       사도 바울은 본문 말씀에서 “거룩함에이르라.”고 로마에 있는 모든 성도들에게 말씀하고 있습니다. 그 이유에 대하여 율법의 모든 죄들이 예수 그리스도의 보혈을 통하여 구속 곧 죄사함을 받은(골 1:14) 성도들은 더 이상 율법 아래 있지 않고 은혜 아래 있기 때문이라고 증거하고 있습니다. 그러나 그렇다고 해서 죄를 지어도 된다는 것이 결코 아니라고 단언하고 있습니다. 그 이유에 대하여 이전에 구원받기 전에는 죄가 우리 몸을 주관했지만 구원받은 후 은혜 아래에서는 결코 죄가 우리를 주관할 수 없다고 증거하고 있습니다.

       그 이유에 대하여 사도 바울은 골로새에 있는 성도들에게 편지할 때에  “너희도 모든 정사와 권세의 머리이신 그의 안에서 온전하게 되느니라. 또한 너희가 그의 안에서 손으로 하지 아니한 할례를 받았으니 곧 그리스도의 할례로 육신의 죄들의 몸을 벗어버린 것이라.”(골 2:9-11) 고 증거했습니다.. 다시 말해서 다윗왕이 “내혼이진토에  붙어있으니주의말씀대로나를소생시키소서“(시 119:25)라고 고백한 것처럼 우리가 구원받기 전에는 우리 혼이 죄의 몸에 붙어있어 죄가  우리를 주관했었지만, 이제는 하나님의 말씀으로 할례를 받아 죄의 몸으로부터 분리되었으므로 죄가 우리를 주관하지 못한다고 증거한 것입니다. 

        그러므로 우리가 구원받은 후에도 여전히 죄의 몸 안에 거하고 있지만 이제는 죄의 몸에 갇혀있지 않고 자유의지를 가지고 원하기만 하면 성령께서 인도하시는대로 의의 말씀을 따라 살 수 있는 진정한 자유자가 된 것입니다. 사도 바울은 히브리인들에게 편지할 때에 예수 그리스도께서 십자가에 죽으심으로써 이루신 일에 대하여  “그때에 말씀하시기를 ‘오 하나님이여, 보소서, 주의 뜻을 행하려고 내가 왔나이다.’ 하셨으니 첫 번째 것을 폐하심은 두 번째 것을 세우려 하심이라. 그 뜻에 따라 모든 사람을 위하여 한 번 예수 그리스도의 몸을 드리심으로 우리가거룩하게된것이라.”(히 10:9,10)고 증거했습니다.

       로마에 있는 성도들에게는 “거룩함에이르라.”고 말씀한 사도 바울은 히브리서에서는 “우리가거룩하게된것이라.”라고 서로 다른 증거를 했습니다.  사도 베드로가  “너희 믿음의 결과, 곧 너희 혼들의 구원을 받음이니라.”(벧전 1:9)고 증거한 것처럼, 우리가 그리스도의 피를 믿어 죄사함을 받았을 때 우리의 혼은 이미 거룩해졌다는 사실을 알 수 있는 것입니다. 또한 이미 거룩해진 우리의 혼에 대하여 사도 바울은 하브리인들에게 “이분은 한 번의 속죄제를 영원히 드린 후 하나님의 오른 편에 앉으셔서 그후로는 그의 원수들을 자기 발판으로 삼으실 때까지 기다리시느니라. 이는그가한번의제사로서거룩하게된자들을영원히온전케하셨기때문이라.‘(히 10:12-14)고 증거함으로써 우리가 받은 혼의 구원이 영원히 온전케 되었다고 증거했습니다.

        그러나 우리의 모습은 변해가고는 있지만 여전히 죄를 짓기도 하면서 온전히 거룩하게 된 모습이 아닌 것입니다.  그러나 예수 그리스도의 흘리신 피의 공로를 통하여 우리의 영과 혼이, 즉 우리의 속 사람이 법적으로거룩하게되었다는것입니다. 예수 그리스도의 피를 통하여 법적으로는 거룩하게 되었고 온전하게 되었지만 우리의 삶은 여전히 죄인의 모습인 것입니다. 그러나 지금 우리는 그리스도의 할례를 통하여 육신의 몸을 이미 벗어버렸기 때문에 하나님의 거룩하심에 이를 수 있는 것입니다.

        그렇다면 하나님께서 말씀하시는 거룩함은 무엇입니까? 다시 말해서 우리가 하나님께서 인정하시는 거룩함에 이르는 길은 무엇입니까? 모든 신비의 지식을 알고 산을 움직일만한 믿음입니까? 아니면 모든 소유를 주어 가난한 사람을 구제하고 몸을 불사르게 내어주는 것입니까? 소위 말하는 의로운 행위입니까?  우리의 모든 의는 더러운 걸레 같다고(사 64:6) 성경은 말씀하고 있습니다. 우리가 바라보는 소망은 그리스도께서 나타나실 때 그와 같이 되는 것이라고 성경은 말씀하고 있습니다. 옛날 다윗 왕도 자신이 깰 때, 즉 부활의 날에 그리스도의 형상으로 변화되는 것이라고 고백했습니다 (시 17:15). 사도 바울과 사도 요한도 그 소망에 대하여 증거했습니다(요일 3:1-3, 빌 3:21).

        결국 우리가 바라는 것은 거룩함인 것입니다. 사도 베드로는 거룩함에 대하여 증거했습니다: “너희는 생각의 허리를 동이고 정신을 차려 예수 그리스도께서 나타나실 때 너희에게 가져올 은혜를 끝까지 바라라. 순종하는 자녀들로서, 이전에 무지하던 때의 정욕에 너희 자신을 맞추지 말고 오히려 너희를 그분께서 거룩하신 것처럼 너희도 모든행실에거룩하라. 이는 기록되기를 ‘내가 거룩하니, 너희도 거룩하라.’ 하시기 때문이라. 또 외모롤 보지 않으시고 각 사람의 행위에 따라 판단하시는 분을 너희가 아버지라 부른다면 너희의 이곳 나그네 시절을 두려움 속에서 지내라. 이는 너희가 아는 바와 같이, 너희가 너희 조상들로부터 전통으로 이어받은 너희의 허망한 행실에서 은이나 금 같은 썩어질 것들로 구속된 것이 아니라 흠도 없고 점도 없는 어린 양 같은 그리스도의 보배로운 피로 된 것이기 때문이니라.”(벧전 1:13-19)

       성령께서는 구원받은 하나님의 자녀들은 몸의행실을거룩하게하라고말씀하시는 것입니다. 본문 말씀에서 사도 바울은 구원받은 사람은 죄에서 해방되어 의의 종이 되었다고 증거하고 있습니다. 다시 말해서 죄의 종이었던 우리의 몸값을 예수 그리스도께서 자신의 피로 값을 치르고 사셨기 때문에 우리는 이미 죄의 종도 아니며 사람의 종도 아니고(고전 7:23) 그리스도의 종인 것입니다. 다시 말해서 하나님의 말씀에 전적으로 순종해야 하며 하나님의 것인 우리 몸과 영으로 하나님께 영광을 돌려야 하는 것입니다(고전 6:20). 죄의 종이라는 것은 의를 행할 수 없는 사람을 말하는 것입니다. 죄의 종으로 있었을 때에는 온갖 부끄러운 일들을 행하여 그 열매를 얻었었고 그 일들의 결말은 사망인 것입니다. 그러나 이제는 그리스도의 피를 통하여 죄로부터 자유롭게 되었고 이제는 의의 종, 곧 하나님의 종이 되어 거룩함에 이르는 열매를 얻었으며 그 끝은 영생이라고 사도 바울이 증거하고 있는 것입니다.

       그러므로 우리는 하나님의 의의 말씀에 순종하는 삶을 살 때에 우리 안에 있는 영생을 힘입어 거룩함에 이르는 열매를 맺을 수 있는 것입니다. 사도 베드로는 거룩함에 대하여 다시 증거할 때에 “너희가 성령을 통하여 진리에 순종함으로써 너희 혼들을 정결케 하여 가식 없는 형제 사랑에 이르렀으니 순결한 마음으로 뜨겁게 사랑하라.”(벧전 1:22)고 권면했습니다.

        우리 주 예수 그리스도께서도 마지막으로 그의 제자들과 앞으로 구원받을 모든 그리스도인 제자들을 위하여 기도하실 때에 “내가 기도하옵는 것은 아버지께서 그들을 세상에서 데려가시라는 것이 아니옵고 그들을 악에서 보호해 주시라는 것이옵니다. 내가 세상에 속하지 아니한 것같이 그들도 세상에 속하지 않사옵니다.아버지의진리로그들을거룩하게하여주옵소서, 아버지의 말씀은 진리니이다.”(요 17:15-17)

        그렇습니다. 우리의 거룩함은 진리의 말씀에 순종하는 삶을 살 때에 거룩함에 이를 수 있는 것입니다. 세상 종교가 말하는 거룩함과 다른 것입니다. 겉으로 치장하는 이른바 위선은 전혀 거룩함과는 관계가 없는 것입니다. 우리는 죄의 몸에 진리의 옷으로 입어야 하는 것이며, 이것은 우리 옛 사람(아담)을 벗어버리고 새 사람(마지막 아담이신 예수 그리스도)으로 옷을 입는 것입니다.

        사도 바울은 그리스도로 옷입는 것에 대하여 하나님의 전신갑옷을 입으라고 에베소 교회 성도들에게 권면했습니다. 전신갑옷을 입음으로써 거룩하게 되어 마귀의 술책에 대항하고 악한 날에 저항할 수 있으며 모든 일을 다 이루기까지 서 있게 하려 함이라고 증거했습니다.  서서 진리로 허리 띠를 두르고,  의의 흉배를 붙이고 화평의 복음을 준비한 것으로 신을 신고 믿음의 방패와 구원의 투구와 성령의 칼, 곧 하나님의 말씀을 가지라고 증거하고 있는 것입니다.

       우리를 향한 하나님의 뜻은 거룩함입니다. 음행을 삼가고 이방인들과 같이 색욕에 빠지지말아야 하며 하나님께서 우리를 부르신 것은 부정함에 이르게 하려는 것이 아니라 거룩함에 이르게 하려 하심이라고 사도 바울이 증거했습니다.(살전 4:3-7)  우리가 거룩함에 이르게 될 때 마침내 우리의 온 영과 혼과 몸이 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 오실 때까지 책망할 것이 없게 보존될 것이며 이를 위하여 사도 바울이 기도한다고 사도 바울이 데살로니가 교회 성도들에게 편지했습니다. 또한 우리를 부르시어 구원하신 주께서 우리 모두가 그렇게 될 수 있도록 행하신다고 증거했습니다. 사도 바울은 히브리인들에게 편지 할 때에 “모든 사람과 더불어 화평함과 거룩함을추구하라. 이것이 없이는 주를 보지 보지 못하리라. 열심히 돌아보아 하나님의 은혜에 미치지 못하는 자가 없도록 하고, 또 쓴 뿌리가 나와서 너희를 괴롭게 하거나 혹 그것 때문에 많은 사람이 더럽혀지지 않도록 하며“(히 12:14,15)라고 마지막 때에 살고 있는 히브리인들과 우리들에게 아주 중요한 경고의 말씀을 하고 있는 것입니다. 우리는 사도 베드로가 증거한 것처럼 그의 약속대로 의가 거하는 새  하늘들과 새땅을 기다리는  하나님의 자녀들이기 때문인 것입니다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 24:1-10

Main scripture: Romans 6:14-23

Subject: Yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness

       Jesus taught his disciples to pray saying, “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.”(Matt. 6:9) Only God that has no sin should be glorified as the ONE that is HOLY.  In the main passage, Apostle Paul spoke unto the saints in Rome to yield themselves unto holiness, because they are redeemed through the blood of Jesus Christ, that is the remission of sins of the law(Col. 1:14); and they are no more under the law, but under the grace. He also affirms, what then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. He also testified, before we were saved, we were the servants of sin, but now under the grace of the salvation, sin cannot make us the servants of sin at all.

       Apostle Paul testified of the reason why sin cannot rule over us unto the saints in Colossians:” For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:”(Col. 2:9-11)

As David confessed, “My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.”(Ps. 119:25), our soul was cleaved unto the body of sin, and we cannot help being the servants of sin. But now, we are separated from the body of sin through the circumcision of Christ, and sin cannot make us his servants at all.

         Therefore, we are still abiding in the sinful body, but we are no more in the bondage of the body of sin, but we are free truly to follow the words of righteousness led by the Holy Ghost, if we want to do. Apostle Paul wrote a letter unto Hebrews of the crucifixion of Jesus saying, “Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”(Heb. 10:9,10)

       Apostle Paul wrote unto the saints to yield unto holiness; and he wrote unto the Hebrews, we are sanctified once for all. It looks like different doctrine of the word of holiness. As Apostle Peter testified, “Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.”(1Pet. 1:9), we understand, our soul is sanctified unto holiness, when we received the remission of sins through the blood of Jesus Christ. Of the sanctified soul, Apostle Paul testified unto the Hebrews saying, “But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”(Heb. 10: 12-14)

He affirmed, the salvation of our soul has been perfected for ever all.

        But, even though we are being changed, we don’t look like perfectly sanctified still sinning day by day. But our inward man, that is our soul and spirit has been sanctified legally through the blood of Jesus Christ. Even though we are sanctified and perfect, our life is still showing as sinners. But, now, we are able to yield ourselves unto holiness, for we already put off the body of sin through the circumcision of Christ.

       Then, what is the holiness in the word of God? What is the way unto holiness that is recognized by God? Is it  the knowledge of all mysteries and the faith so that we could remove mountains? Or, bestowing all our goods to feed the poor, and giving our body to be burned? The scripture says, all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags(Isa. 64:6). Our hope that we are looking forward is to be like Christ, when he appears as testified by the scriptures. King David testified, I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness (Ps. 17:15). Apostle Paul and John also testified of the same hope (1John 3:1-3, Phil. 3:21).

        After all, it is holiness that we are looking forward as our hope. Apostle Peter testified of holiness: “Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”(1Pet. 1:13-19)

      The Holy Ghost is speaking unto us to be holy in all manner of conversation that is our behaviors. In the main passage, saved Christian is freed from sin to be the servant of righteousness. In other word, we are neither more the servants of sin, nor the servants of man , but the servants of Christ (1Cor. 7:23), for Jesus Christ had already bought us with a price with his blood. Therefore, we have to obey the words of God, and we have to glorify in our body and in our spirit that are God’s (1Cor. 6:20). The servant of sin cannot do righteousness. As Apostle Paul testified, we  used to reaping the fruits that now we ashamed, when we were the servants of sin, and the end of those things were death. But, now, we are freed through the blood of Jesus Christ to be the servants of God, and reap the fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

        Therefore, when we obey the words of God, we are able to reap the fruit unto holiness through the power of life within us. Apostle Peter testified of holiness: “Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:”(1Pet. 1:22)

       Our Lord Jesus Christ spoke Father God in his final prayer for his disciples and all Christians to be saved: “I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”(John 17:15-17)

       Yea! We are able to be unto holiness, when we obey the word of truth that is the word of God. The holiness in the word of God is quite different from the one in the scriptures of all other religions. Hypocrisy that disguises outwardly has nothing to do with holiness at all. We have to be clothed with the truth on our body of sin; this means to put off the old man(Adam) to put on the new man (the last Adam, Jesus Christ).

        Apostle Paul testified of being clothed with Christ, and asked the saints of Ephesians church to put on the whole armor of God so that they may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil, and withstand in the evil day to have done all to stand. He urged, to stand having loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness, and for their feet to shod with preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, and take the helmet of salvation, and sword of the Spirit that is the word of God.

        Apostle Paul testified unto the saints of Thessalonians, the will of God unto them is sanctification; and we should abstain from fornication, and be not in concupiscence, And he said, God has not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. He  prayed for the saints of Thessalonians so that their whole spirit and soul and body preserved blameless unto the coning of our Lord Jesus Christ. And also he said, faithful is he that calls them, who also will do it. Apostle Paul wrote a warning letter to Hebrews and us living in the last days saying,

 “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;”(Heb. 12:14,15) It is because we are the children of God that are looking for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwells righteousness according to the promise of God, as testified by Apostle Peter.(2Pet. 3:13). Amen! Hallelujah!
