금주의 묵상: 시편 51:1-19

본문: 로마서 7:15-8:13

제목: 죄의 몸 안에 사는 거듭난 그리스도인의 승리의 삶

      사도 바울은 그가 성령으로 거듭난 후에 나타난 이중적인 삶에 대하여 증거하고 있습니다. 비록 그가 예수 그리스도를 믿음으로써 모든 죄들이 용서받고 제거되어 양심이 정결케 되어 (히 9:14) 마음이 깨끗하게 되었지만 여전히 죄의 몸 안에 살고 있다고 증거하고 있는 것입니다. 사도 바울은 그가 거듭나기 전에는 다윗왕이 증거한 것처럼 그의 혼이 진토같은 죄의 몸애 붙어 있었기에(시 119:25) 죽은 영과 함께 그의 혼과 몸이 옛 사람 아담이 가졌던 죄의 성품 속에서 어떤 양심의 가책도 느끼지 못하고 죄의 몸 안에 있는 마음의 생각과 상상을 따라 살았지만 그가 거듭난 후에 구원받은 혼이 죄의 몸과 분리되는 그리스도의 할례(골 2:11)를 받은 후에는 모든 죄가 제거된 그의 혼이 여전히 죄의 몸 안에서 함께 살면서 겪었던 것에 대하여 증거하고 있는 것입니다.

      사도 바울은 그가 거듭난 후의 삶에 대하여 갈라디아에 있는 성도들에게 증거할 때에 “내가 그리스도와 함께 못박혀 있으나(I am crucified with Christ) 그럼에도 나는 살아 있노라. 그러나 내가 사는 것이 아니요, 그리스도께서 내 안에 사시는 것이라. 내가 이제 육신 안에서 사는 삶은 나를 사랑하시어 나를 위해 자신을 주신 하나님의 아들을 믿는 믿음으로 사는 것이라. 나는 하나님의 은혜를 저버릴 수 없나니, 만일 의가 율법으로 인하여 온 것이라면 그리스도께서서는 헛되이 죽으신 것이라.”(갈 2:20,21)고 간증했습니다.

      다시 말해서 그가 예수 그리스도께서 자신의 죄들로 인해 성경대로 죽으시고 장사되셨다가 성경대로 셋째 날에 살아나신 것을 믿는 순간 자신의 옛 사람은 이미 그리스도와 함께 영적으로 죽었으며 자신의 거듭난 영 안에 새 사람이시며 마지막 아담이신(고전 15:45) 그리스도께서 들어오셔서 사시는 것이라고 증거한 것입니다. 그럼에도 나는 살아 있노라고 고백한 것은 그의 옛 사람이 그리스도와 함께 십자가에 못박혀서 죽어 있으나 그의 구원빋은 혼은 거듭난 영과 함께 그리스도 안에서 이미 부활하여 살고 있다고 증거한 것입니다.

       그러나 그의 육신은 여전히 아담의 성품 안에 있는 죄의 몸이기에 비록 거듭난 그가 원하는 선을 행하지 않고 원치않는 것을 행하는 것은 더 이상 자신이 아니요 자신 속, 즉 자신의 육신 안에 있는 죄라고 증거하고 있는 것입니다. 그가 구원빋은 후에도 여전히 아담으로부터 물려받은 육신 안에는 선한 것이 거하지 않는다고 증거한 것입니다. 그러므로 구원받은 후의 그의 삶은 두 사람이 함께 살고 있다고 고백한 것입니다. 그러한 이중적인 삶은 거듭난 그리스도인들이 죄의 몸을 벗는 그리스도의 날, 즉 휴거의 날까지 계속된다고 증거하고 있는 것입니다.

        사도 바울은 로마에 있는 성도들에게 편지할 때에도 “그들뿐만 아니라 성령의 첫 열매들을 가진 우리까지도 속으로 신음하며 양자 되는 것, 곧 우리 몸의 구속을 기다리고 있느니라.”(롬 8:23)고 증거함으로써 거듭난 그리스도인들이 기다리고 있는 것은 그리스도께서 나타나실 때 죄의 몸을 벗어버리고 죽지 않고 썩지 않을 몸을 입을 휴거위 날(고전 15:51-55)을 기다리고 있다고 증거한 것입니다.

         본문에서 사도 바울은 거듭난 그리스도인들이 치러야 할 영적 전쟁에 대해서도 증거하고 있는 바, 거듭난 자신의 생각은 하나님의 법을 섬기기를 원하지만, 그의 죄의 몸은 여전히 죄의 법을 섬기기를 원하고 있다고 말하고 있는 것입니다. 그러므로 그는 계속해서 죄의 몸을 제어하고 거듭난 새 사람의 생각을 따라가야만 하는 끊임 없는 싸움을 할 수밖에 없다고 고백한 것입니다. 이에 대하여 그가 갈라디아에 있는 성도들에게 편지 할 때에 “내가 이것을 말하노니 성령 안에서 행하라. 그리하면 너희는 육신의 정욕을 이루지 아니하리라. 육신은 성령을 거슬러 욕심을 부리며 성령은 육신을 거스르나니 이들은 서로 반목하여서 너희가 하고자 하는 것을 하지 못하게 하느니라. 그러나 너희가 성령의 인도하심을 받는다면 너희는 율법 아래 있지 아니하느니라. 이제 육신의 일들은 분명히 나타나나니 곧 간음과 음행과 더러운 것과 음욕과 우상 숭배와 마술과 원수 맺음과 다툼과 질투와 분노와 투쟁과 분열과 이단들과 시기와 살인과 술 취함과 흥청거림과 또 그와 같은 것들이라. 내가 전에 말한 바와 같이 미리 말하노니 그런 짓들을 하는 자들은 하나님의 나라를 상속받지 못할 것이라.”(갈 5:16-21)고 증거했습니다.

       그는 또한  그러나 성령의 인도함을 받는 사람들이 맺는 열매는 “사랑과 기쁨과 화평과 오래 참음과 친절과 선함과 믿음과 온유와 잘제니 그러한 것을 반대할 법이 없느니라. 그리스도께 속한 사람들은 그 육신을 욕정과 정욕과 함께 십자가에 못박았느니라.”(갈 5:22-24)고 증거했습니다.

         사도 바울은 그가 교회들에게 증거한 것처럼, 마침내 거듭난 그리스도인이 평안 가운데 이 땅에서부터 천국 생활을 누리는 비결에 대하여 로마에 있는 그리스도인들에게 증거했습니다: “그러므로 이제 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 자들에게는 결코 정죄함이 없나니, 그들은 육신을 따라 행하지 아니하고 성령을 따라 행하느니라.”(롬 8:1) 다시 말해서, 육신의 몸 안에 있는 죄가 죄를 지음으로 인해 정죄 의식에 빠지지 않기 위해서는 거듭난 영 안에 있는 성령을 따라 행해야 한다고 말한 것입니다. 거듭난 그리스도인들이 그렇게 행할 수 있는 것은, 영적으로는 세상에 있는 죄와 사망의 법으로부터 해방되어 이미 하나님의 왕국 안에 있는 생명의 성령의 법 안에 거하기 때문이라고 증거한 것입니다. 그리스도 예수를 믿어 영접하여 성령으로 다시 태어난 사람은 모든 율법의 죄들이 예수 그리스도 하나님의 아들의 육신에 전가되어 그분의 죽으심과 함께 제거되었기 때문에 모든 율법을 지킨 자들처럼 율법의 의가 그들 안에 이루어졌기 때문에 이제는 성령을 따라 행할 수 있다는 것입니다.

       그러므로 육신적인 생각을 통하여 더 이상 사망에 거하지 말고 성령을 통하여 하나님의 말씀을 믿는 믿음 안에 거함으로써 육신 안에 거하는 삶 속에서도 생명과 화평의 삶을 누려야 함에 대하여 증거한 것입니다. 그런 삶을 살 수 있는 것에 대하여, 하나님의 영이 안에 거하는 사람은 육신 안에 사는 동안에도 영적으로는 이미 육신을 벗어나서 성령 안에 살고 있는바, 이미 하나님의 왕국에서의 영원한 생명의 삶이 시작된 것이라고 증거한 것입니다. 그러므로 육신의 몸은 물리적으로는 살아 있으나 영적으로는 이미 죽은 몸이나 다름 없으며 동시에 거듭난 그리스도인들이 물리적으로는 세상에서 죄의 몸안에 살고 있지만 영적으로는 이미 하늘 나라에서 그리스도와 함께 영생의 삶을 살고 있다고 증거한 것입니다. 그러므로 하나님의 나라(왕국)는 먹고 마시는 것이 아니고 성령 안에서 의와 화평과 기쁨이라고 증거한 것입니다(롬 14:17).

       그러므로 거듭난 그리스도인들은 육신에 져서 육신을 따라 살지 않을 수 있는 능력을 이미 받은 자들이므로 항상 깨어서 기도하면서 성령을 따라 살면서 육신의 행실을 죽임으로써 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 삶을 살아야 하는 것입니다. 이것이 하나님의 자녀들로서 하나님을 기쁘시게 함으로써 앞으로 그리스도와 함께 영광스럽게 나타나서  그분의 왕국에서 그리스도와 함께 한 공동 상속자들로서 영광을 누리는 영원한 유업을 받는 축복의 길이 되는 것입니다.

       그러므로 사도 바울은 골로새에 있는 성도들에게 권면했습니다:  “그러므로 너희가 그리스도와 함께 살아났으면 위에 있는 것들을 구하라.거기에는 그리스도께서 하나님의 오른편에 앉아 계시느니라. 위에 있는 것들에 너희 마음을 두고 땅에 있는 것들에 마음을 두지 말라. 이는 너희가 죽었고 또 너희의 생명이 그리스도와 함께 하나님 안에 감추어졌기 때문이라. 우리의 생명이신 그리스도께서 나타나실 때 너희도 그와 함께 영광 가운데 나타날 것이라. 그러므로 땅 위에 있는 너희의 지체를 죽이라. 곧 음행과 부정과 사욕과 악한 색욕과 탐심이니 탐심은 우상 숭배니라. 이런 것들 때문에 하나님의 진노가 불순종의 자녀들 위에 임하느니라.”(골 3:1-6) 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 51:1-19

Subject: Victorious life of born again Christian living in the body of sin

        Apostle Paul testifies of his dual life after he was born of the Spirit. Even though all his sins were forgiven, and his conscience was sanctified (Heb. 9:14) so that his heart was purified, he was living in his sinful body continuously. Before he was born again of the Spirit, as King David testified, his soul was stick together with his body of sin as dust (Ps. 119:25); and so he was living without any guilty feeling in the character of sin in Adam according to the imagination of his thought in his heart. But after he was regenerated, his saved soul received the circumcision of Christ (Col. 2:11) being separated from his body of sin. Even after all his sins were taken away, his soul was living in the body of sin.

        Regarding the life after regeneration, Apostle Paul testified unto the saints in Galatians church: “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.”(Gal. 2:20,21)

        In other word, at the moment of salvation believing Christ that died for his sins according to the scriptures, and buried, and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, his old man was dead spiritually with Christ; and the new man as well as the last Adam (1Cor. 15:45) that is Christ entered into his spirit to dwell within him. When he said “nevertheless I live”, he meant, his saved soul is living with his born again spirit that rose again with Christ, even though his old man is dead crucified with Christ on the cross.

        But his flesh is the body of sin in the character of Adam, when he did what he not wanted to do, it was not he, but the sin that abide in his body of sin. Even after he was saved, there is nothing good in his body that was inherited from Adam. Therefore, his life after he was save two men were living together. Such kind of dual life shall be continued by the day of Christ  that is the day of Rapture when born again Christian puts off the body of sin.

        Apostle Paul wrote unto the saints in Rome to testify, “And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.”(Rom. 8:23) He encouraged them to wait upon the day of Christ when they put off the body of sin to be clothed with immortality and incorruption (1Cor. 15:51-55).

        In the main passage, Apostle Paul testifies of the spiritual warfare that born again Christian has to deal with between the thought of born again soul that wants to obey the law of God, and the body of sin that wants to serve the law of sin. Therefore he confessed, he has to do continuous fight against the body of sin to follow the thought of the new man. He wrote unto the saint of Galatians of this spiritual warfare: “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”(Gal. 5:16-21)

       He also testified of the fruit of the Spirit that is reap by them that are led by the Spirit: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.”(Gal. 5:22-24)

        As he testified unto the churches, he testified of the way that born again Christian has the life of kingdom of God in peace in the earth unto the saints in Rome: “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”(Rom. 8:1)

In other word, not to have guilty feeling because of sin that is done by sin in the flesh, they have to walk following the Spirit in the born again spirit. They can walk by the Spirit, because they have been made free from the law of sin and death spiritually, and now they abide in the law of the Spirit of life in the kingdom of God. And their sins of the law were transferred unto the flesh of the Son of God, and taken away through his death; and the righteousness of the law is fulfilled in them as if they kept all the law so that they could walk after the Spirit.

        He testified of the life in life and peace even in the flesh though no more abiding in death being carnally minded, but abiding in the faith of the word of God through the Spirit. Whosoever has the Spirit of God is already living in the Spirit putting of the flesh spiritually having eternal life in the kingdom of God. The body of flesh is living physically, but it is already dead spiritually. In other word, born again Christian is already living in the heavenly kingdom with Christ, even though they are living in the body of sin in the world physically. This is the reason why Apostle Paul testified of the kingdom of God, not matter of meat and drinking, but in the Spirit, righteousness, peace and joy (Rom. 14;17).

        Born again Christian has already the power not to live after the flesh. Therefore they can live after the Spirit being awaken in prayer prevailing the flesh to please God. This is the way to receive the eternal inheritance  as the joint heir with Christ in the kingdom of God when they appear with him gloriously.

         Therefore, Apostle Paul encouraged the saint of Colossians church saying, “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:”(Col. 3:1-6) Amen! Hallelujah!
