금주의 묵상: 시편 12:1-8

본문: 마태복음 7:15-20

제목: 열매들을 보고 그들을 알게 되리라

        유대인의 왕으로 오신 예수께서 산 위에 앉으셔서 그분께 나아오는 무리와 제자들에게 앞으로 이 땅에 임할 그의 왕국의 법령을 미리 선포하셨습니다(마 5-7장), 그때 주님께 나아온 무리와 제자들은 유대인들이었습니다. 이 말씀들 안에는 영적으로 하나님의 교회에도 적용되는 중요한 교훈들이 들어 있습니다. 특히 본문에서 주님께서 마지막 때 하나님의 교회에게 주시는 경고의 말씀은 거짓 예언자들과 거짓 목사들을 분별하라는 경고의 말씀입니다.

      옛날 구약 시대에 수많은 거짓 선지자들이 있었고 주님께서 초림하셨을 때에도 바리새인들과 사두개인들 그리고 서기관들같은 수많은 거짓된 종교지도자들이 있었던 것처럼 지금 기독교계에도 잘못된 교리를 전하는 거짓 교사들이 난무하고 있는 것을 봅니다. 무엇보다도 잘못된 구원의 교리를 전함으로써 무지한 사람들을 멸망의 길로 인도하고 있으며 그들 역시 옛날 거짓 선지자들처럼 많은 존경을 받아오다가 막판에 가서 상상할 수 없을 정도로 나쁜 열매를 맺는 일들이 하나 하나 드러나게 되어 많은 그리스도인들을 혼란스럽게 하고 있습니다..

        그러나 우리가 그들을 영적으로 분별한다면 그들로 인해 조금도 혼란스럽지 않게 될 것입니다. 영적인 분별은 주님의 말씀의 잣대로 하는 것을 말하는 것입니다. 본문에서 주님께서는 분명하게 말씀하십니다. 주님께서는 우리가 영적으로 분별하기만 하면 그들은 양의 옷을 입고 우리에게 나아오지만 속은 약탈하는 이리들이라고 말씀하십니다. 또한 그들이 이리떼라고 분별하는 일에 대하여, 그들의 열매로 그들을 알게 될 것이라고 말씀하십니다. 다시 말해서 그들이 하는 말로는 그들을 분별할 수 없다는 것입니다. 오직 그들의 삶 속에서 나타나는 일들을 보고 분별하라는 것입니다.

      주님께서는 초등학생이라도 다 알아 들을 수 있도록 말씀하셨습니다: “사람이 가시나무에서 포도를, 또 엉겅퀴에서 무화과를 거둘 수 있겠느냐? 이와 같이 좋은 나무마다 좋은 열매를 맺고 나쁜 나무는 나쁜 열매를 맺느니라.. 좋은 나무가 나쁜 열매를 맺을 수 없으며, 나쁜 나무가 좋은 열매를 맺을 수 없느니라.”(마 7:16-18)

        마지막으로 주님께서는 거짓 교사들에 대한 엄중한 심판에 대하여 말씀하셨습니다: “좋은 열매를 맺지 못하는 나무마다 찍혀서 불에 던져지리라.”(마 7:19) 주님께서는 그들을 지옥불에 던지시겠다고 분명하게 말씀하신 것입니다. 다시 말해서 오늘날 기독교계에서 횔동하고 있는 수많은 사역자들이 있지만 그들이 참 종인지 양의 탈을 쓴 이리인지는 그들이 삶 속에서 맺고 있는 열매들을 보고 판단하지 않으면 그들에게 속을 수밖에 없다는 것을 말씀하신 것입니다.

이전에 주님께서는 두가지 믿음에 대하여 말씀하셨습니다: “아무도 두 주인을 섬길 수 없나니, 이는 그가 한 쪽을 미워하고 다른 쪽을 사랑하거나, 한 쪽을 존중하고 다른 쪽을 업신여기기 때문이라. 너희는 하나님과 재물을 동시에 섬길 수 없느니라.”(마 6:24)

        주님께서는 그들이 맺는 열매에 대하여 아주 구체적으로 말씀하셨습니다. 그들이 재물을 섬기고 있는지 아니면 하나님을 섬기고 있는지 둘 중에 하나라는 것입니다. 다시 말해서 그들이 물질을 따라가고 있는지 성령의 인도함을 받아 하나님의 말씀을 따라가고 있는지 둘 중에 하나라는 것입니다. 또 다른 말로, 그들이 육신의 열매를 맺고 있는지 성령의 열매를 맺고 있는지 둘 가운데 하나라는 것입니다. 또한 육신의 열매와 성령의 열매를 동시에 맺을 수는 없다는 것을 말씀한 것이기도 한 것입니다. 주님의 말씀은 그들이 하는 말을 믿지 말고 그들의 열매를 보고 그들응 판단하라는 것입니다.

        주님께서 제자들에게 그 당시 거짓 교사들인 바리새인들과 서기관들에 대하여, “그들이 너희에게 지키라고 한 모든 것을 지키고 행하라. 그러나 그들의 행위는 본받지 말라. 이는 그들이 말만 하고 행하지 않기 때문이라.”(마 23:3)고 말씀하셨습니다. 그들이 모세의 자리에 앉아서 율법을 가르치기는 하나 그 율법을 행하지도 못하면서 다른 사람들에게 짐만 지우기 때문이었습니다(마 23:4). 오늘날에도 하나님의 말씀을 올바로 나누어서 가르치지 않고 율법시대나 환란 시대에 해당하는 구원의 교리를 은혜 시대의 구원의 교리로 기르침으로써 주님께서 한 번 죽으심으로써 그분의 피를 믿는 모든 사람의 죄들을 이미 씻으시고 제거하신 사실을 믿지 못하게 하면서 자신들도 행할 수 없는 행위들로 짐을 지우는 거짓 교사들에 대한 경고의 말씀인 것입니다. 윱법 시대에는 아무도 다른 사람을 판단할 수 없지만(마 7:1,2), 지금 은혜 시대에는 성령으로 가듭난 영적인 사람은 모든 것을 판단할 수 있으며 자신은 아무에게도 판단을 받지 않으며(고전 2:15) 그 이유에 대하여 사도 바울은 “우리는 그리스도의 생각을 가졌느니라.”(고전 2:16)고 증거했습니다.

          참 성경 교사로서 성령의 열매를 맺었던 사도 바울은 갈라디아에 있는 성도들에게 두 가지 열매에 대하여 아주 구체적으로 증거했습니다: “이제 육신의 일들은 분명히 나타나나니 곧 간음과 음행과 더러운 것과 음욕과 우상숭배와 마술과 원수 맺음과 다툼과 질투와 분노와 투쟁과 분열과 이단들과 시기와 살인과 술 취함과 흥청거림과 또 그와 같은 것들이라. 내가 전에 말한 바와 같이 미리 말하노니 그런 짓들을 하는 자들은 하나님의 나라를 상속받지 못할 것이라. 그러나 성령의 열매는 사랑과 기쁨과 화평과 오래 참음과 친절과 선함과 믿음과 온유와 절제니 그러한 것을 반대할 법이 없느니라.”(갈 5:19-23)

이어서 사도 바울은 성령의 열매를 맺는 자들은 성령으로 거듭난 자들로서 그리스도께 속한 사람들이며 그들은 그 육신을 욕정과 정욕과 함께 십자가에 못박은 자들이라고 증거하고 있습니다(갈 5:24). 또한 이 그리스도께 속한 자들, 즉 성령으로 가듭난 자들이 그리스도의 날에 휴거될 것이라고 고린도교회 성도들에게 증거했습니다(고전 15:23).

        주님께서 겟세마네 동산으로 올라가시기 위하여 기드론 골짜기를 지나면서 제자들에게 마지막으로 당부한 말씀을 기억해야 할 것입니다:“나는 참 포도나무요, 나의 아버지는 농부시라. 내 안에서 열매를 맺지 못하는 가지마다 그분께서 제거해 버리시고, 열매를 맺는 가지마다 정결케 하시어 더 많은 열매를 맺게 하시느니라. 이제 너희는 내가 일러준 말을 통하여 깨끗해졌느니라. 내 안에 거하라. 그러면 나도 너희 안에 거하리라. 가지가 포도나무에 붙어 있지 아니하면 스스로 열매를 맺을 수 없듯이 너희도 내 안에 거하지 아니하면 역시 그렇게 되리라. 나는 포도나무요, 너희는 가지들이라. 그가 내 안에 내가 그 안에 거하면 그 사람은 많은 열매를 맺느니라. 이는 나를 떠나서는, 너희가 아무 것도 할 수 없기 때문이라.”(요 15:1-5)

      주님께서는 성령께서 오실 때 제자들이 거듭나게 될 때에 그들은 참 포도나무이신 주님과 영적으로 하나가 되는 것에 대하여 미리 말씀하신 것입니다. 그들은 포도나무의 가지들이기 때문에 끝까지 포도나무이신 주님과 영적으로 연합하지 않으면 열매를 맺을 수 없다고 말씀하고 있는 것입니다. 또한 은혜 시대에 성령으로 다시 태어난 모든 사람에게 주시는 아주 중요한 메세지인 것입니다. 거듭났을지라도 그분의 말씀 안에서 행하지 않으면 열매를 맺을 수 없으며 영적으로 메말라버리게 될 것이라고 말씀하신 것입니다.

        사도 바울은 에베소 교회 성도들에게 편지 할 때에, 하나님의 말씀을 떠나서 성령의 인도함을 받지 못하면 육신의 열매들을 맺개 되어 하나님과 그리스도의 왕국에서 상속받을 것이 없게 될 것이라고 경고의 메세지를 보냈습니다. 이 경고는 오늘날 마지막 때에 나타난 라오디게아 교회에게 보낸 성령님의 경고의 메세지와 같은 것입니다: “네가 말하기를‘나는 부자며, 부요하고, 아무 것도 부족한 것이 없다’고 하지만 너는 비참하고 가련하며, 가난하고, 눈멀고, 헐벗은 것을 알지 못하느냐? 내가 너에게 권고하노니 내게서 불로 단련된 금을 사서 부요하게 되고, 흰옷을 사서 입음으로 너릐 벌거벗은 수치를 드러내지 않게 하며, 또 안약을 네 눈에 발라 보게 하라. 내가 사랑하는 자마다 책망하고 징계하노니 그러므로 열심을 내고 회개하라.”(계 3:17-19)

      그렇습니다! 옛날 구약 시대에 이스라엘의 범죄로 인하여 여호와의 이름이 이방인들 가운데 모독을 받았던 것처럼, 지금도 그리스도인, 특히 주의 종이라 일컫는 사람들의 범죄로 인하여 “예수”의 이름이 모독을 받고 있습니다. 뿐만 아니라, 진실된 그리스도인들까지도 함께 모독을 받고 있는 때에 살고 있습니다. 지금이야말로 문앞에 서서 두드리는 성령님의 음성을 듣고 우리 자신을 돌아보면서 미지근한 신앙 생활을 회개하고 열심을 내어 주님께서 원하시는 선한 일에 유념하여 진력해야 할 때인 것입니다(딛 3:8). 사도 바울은 휴거의 날인 그리스도의 날을 바라보는 고린도교회 성도들에게 “그러므로 나의 사랑하는 형제들아, 견고하라, 흔들리지 말라. 항상 주의 일을 넘치게 하라. 이는 너희의 수고가 주 안에서 헛되지 아니한 줄 너희가 앎이니라.”(고전 15:58)고 권면했습니다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 12:1-8

Main scripture: Matthews 7:15-20

Subject: By their fruits you shall know them

       Jesus came as the king of Jews, and sat down on a mountain, and preached the laws of his kingdom to come unto the multitudes and his disciples (Matt. 5-7 chapters). They were all Jews. There are also important spiritual teaching toward the church of God in his words. Especially, in the main passage, there is a message of warning for church of God in the end time to discern the false prophets as well as false pastors.

       In the old testament period, there were so many false prophets; and many false religious leaders such as Pharisees, Sadducees and scribes in the days of Jesus. Even these days, there are so many false teachers that teach false doctrines in Christendom. They preach false doctrine of salvation unto ignorant people to lead them unto destruction. Many of them have been respected by people as old false prophets; but nowadays their evil fruits are reveled one by one to confuse so many Christians.

       But, if we are able to discern their spirits, we don’t have to be confused at all. Spiritual discern is only possible by the word of God. In the main passage, the Lord Jesus gives us very clear message unto us. If we discern their spirits, we are able to see them as inwardly ravening wolves in sheep’s clothing. Of discerning them as ravening wolves in sheep’s clothing, by their fruits we shall know them. In other word, it is impossible for us discern them only by their words. We are supposed to discern them by the things revealed in their life.

      Jesus spoke them in the way that even elementary school boys and girls can understand so easily: “Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.”(Matt. 7:16-18) Finally, Jesus spoke about very strict judgment against false teachers saying, “Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.”(Matt. 7:18)

Jesus clearly proclaimed of them to be cast into the fire of the hell. In other word, We are going to be deceived by the false teachers, if we fail to discern them according to their fruits in their life whether they are true servants of God or false ones that are raven wolves in sheep’s clothing. Jesus taught the Jews of the two different faith saying,

“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”(Matt. 6:24)

      Jesus spoke unto the Jews about the fruits that are reap by the false servants of God very clearly; whether they serve mammon or God, nothing in the middle. In other word, it is one of two whether they pursue mammon or the words of God led by the Holy Ghost. It is impossible for anyone could bring forth the fruits of flesh and the fruit of the Spirit at the same time. Jesus asks us to judge them according to their fruits not by their words.

        Jesus spoke unto his disciples of the false teachers such as Pharisees and Scribes saying, “All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.”(Matt. 23:3)

They set in Moses’ seat; and they bound heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and laid them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves would not move them with one of their fingers (Matt. 23:4). This is the message of warning against false teachers that not divide the word of the truth rightly, but teach the doctrine of salvation in the dispensation of old testament and the great Tribulation as the doctrine of the age of grace. They try to keep people to believe in the blood of Jesus Christ that clean and took away all their sins, but lay them with heavy burden of works for the salvation that even they cannot do themselves at all. In the old testament period, no one can judge others at all (matt. 7:1,2); but now in the age of grace, all the spiritual men born of the Spirit can judge all things, yet they themselves are judged of no man (1Cor. 2:15). Of this reason, Apostle Paul testified saying,

“…..But we have the mind of Christ.”(1Cor. 2:16)

        As a true teacher of the word of God, Apostle Paul brought forth good fruits; and he testified of two kinds of fruit unto the Galatians:

“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.”(Gal. 5:19-23) He continued to say that only born again Christian could bear the fruit of the Spirit; and they are Christ’s that crucified the flesh with affections and lusts (Gal. 5:24). he also testified unto the Corinthians of them that are Christ’s to be translated into heaven in the day of Christ (1Cor. 15:23).

        We have to remember the word of Jesus to give the final message unto his disciples passing through the valley on the way up to Gethsemane: “I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”(John 15:1-5)

        Jesus foretold them that shall be one spiritually with Jesus that is the true vine when they are born again of the Spirit when the Holy Ghost come. Jesus asked them to be united with him to the end, the true vine to bear fruit, for they are already the branches of the vine. This is also a very important message unto all men that are born of the Spirit in the age of grace. Jesus urged them to walk in the words of God not to be dry out spiritually, even though they are born again of the Spirit.

        Apostle Paul also gave a very important warning message unto the Ephesians saints saying, they shall bear the fruit of flesh unless they are led by the Spirit being apart from the words of God so that they may not be able to have any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. His warning message is the same one as the warning message of the Holy Ghost unto the church of Laodicea: “Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.”(Rev. 3:17-19)

       Yea! As the name of Jehovah was insulted among the Gentiles because of the sins of Israel, now, the name of “JESUS” is insulted among the nations because of sins of them that are called as servants of God. Even true Christians are also insulted these days because of them. It is the very time for us to hear the voice of the Holt Ghost knocking on the door; and we have to look around ourselves to repent the lukewarm spiritual life, and to be zealous for the Lord Jesus. It is the right time for us to be careful to maintain good works (Titus 3:8). Apostle Paul encouraged the Corinthians waiting for the day of Christ saying, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”(1Cor. 15:58) Amen! Hallelujah!
