금주의 묵상: 시편 23:1-6

본문: 로마서 5:1-11

제목: 하나님과 화평을 누리는 자의 능력과 기쁨

           사도 바울은 주 예수 그리스도를 믿어 의롭게 된 사람들이 누리는 행복에 대하여 증거하고 있습니다. 그는 의롭게 됨으로부터 오는 축복에 대하여 하나님과 화평관계를 갖는다고 증거하고 있습니다. 성경에서 말씀하시는 화평은 히브리어로 “샬롬”입니다. 샬롬은 죽음도 두려워하지 않고 초월할 수 있는 화평이라 말할 수 있을 것입니다.

             옛날 기드온이 주의 천사를 만나서 죽어야 마땅했을 때 그가 받은 것도 샬롬, 즉 하나님의 화평이었습니다:

“하나님의 천사가 그에게 말씀하시기를 ‘고기와 누룩 없는 빵을 가져다가 이 반석 위에 놓고 국물을 부으라.’ 하시니 그가 그대로 하였더라. 그때 주의 천사가 자기 손에 있는 지팡이 끝을 내밀어 그 고기와 누룩 없는 빵을 사르더라. 그런 후 주의 천사가 그의 목전에서 떠나니라. 기드온이 그가 주의 천사인 줄 알고 말하기를 ‘슬프도소이다. 오 주 하나님이여! 이는 내가 주의 천사를 대면하여 보았음이니이다.’ 하니 주께서 그에게 말씀하시기를 ‘네게 화평이 있으라. 두려워 말라. 네가 죽지 아니하리라.’하시니라. 그때 기드온이 거기서 주께 제단을 쌓고 그것을 여호와 샬롬이라 하였더니. 그것이 오늘에 이르기 까지 아비에셀인에게 속한 오프라에 있더라.”(판 6:20-24)

             그 당시 주의 천사는 여호와 하나님의 현현으로써 하나님 자신이 천사의 모습으로 나타나셨던 것입니다. 모세가 하나님의 영광을 보여달라고 말씀드렸을 때 자신을 본자는 아무도 살 수 없다고 말씀하셨습니다:

“모세가 말하기를 ‘내가 주께 간구하오니 주의 영광을 보여주소서.’ 하니 주께서 말씀하시기를 ‘내가 나의 모든 선함을 네 앞에 지나가게 할 것이며 내가 네 앞에 주의 이름을 선포하리라. 나는 은혜를 베풀 자에게 은혜를 베플고 자비를 보일 자에게 자비를 보이리라.’ 하시니라. 또 주께서 말씀하시기를 ‘네가 내 얼굴을 볼 수 없으니 이는 나를 보고서 살 자가 아무도 없음이니라 하시고 주께서 말씀하시기를 ‘보라 내 옆에 한 곳이 있으니 너는 한 바위 위에 설지니라. 내 영광이 지날 동안 내가 너를 그 바위 틈에 넣어서 내가 지날 동안 내 손으로 너를 덮으리니, 내 손을 거두면 네가 내 뒷부분을 볼 것이나 내 얼굴은 보지 못하리라.’하시니라.”(출 33:18-23)

             그렇습니다! 하나님은 죄가 전혀 없으신 거룩하신 분이시기에 죄인들은 그분께 가까이 다가가게 되면 죽을 수밖에 없는 것입니다. 모세가 십계명을 받으려고 시내산에 오르기 전에 하신 말씀 가운데서도 죄를 미워하시는 하나님의 속성을 잘 알 수 있습니다:

“주께서 시내산 정상에 내려오셔서 주께서 모세를 산 정상으로 부르시니 모세가 올라가더라. 주께서 모세에게 말씀하시기를 ‘내려가서 백성에게 당부하라. 그들이 주를 보려고 뛰쳐나오지 않게 하라. 그러다가 그들 중 많은 자가 죽을까 하노라. 주께 가까이 오는 제사장들도 스스로 거룩하게 하라. 주가 그들에게 갑자기 임하지 않게 하려 함이라.’ 하시니라.”(출 19:20-22)

       이렇게 두려우신 주 하나님께서 우리를 위해 사람의 몸을 입으시고 이 세상에 나타나셨습니다. 수많은 사람들이 그분을 보았지만 어느누구도 죽지 않았습니다. 사도 요한은 이러한 하나님의 은혜에 대하여 증거하기를, “그 말씀이 육신이 되어 우리 가운데 거하심으로, 우리가 그의 영광을 보니, 아버지의 독생자의 영광으로 은혜와 진리가 충만하더라.”(요 1:14)

그분을 보고서도 죽지 않는 충만한 은혜를 주셨지만 사람들은 그분을 알아보지 못했던 것입니다. 또한 그분 안에 충만히 거하는 진리를 보지 못했던 것입니다.

             옛날 주 하나님을 떠나 이방나라와 음행하면서 그들의 우상들을 섬기면서 하나님의 말씀 안에 있는 공의와 진리를 구하지 않던 이스라엘을 향하여 선지자 예레미야를 통하여 엄중한 심판의 메시지를 주셨습니다:

“너희는 예루살렘의 거리를 여기저기 달려서 이제 보고 알며, 거기 넓은 곳에서 찾으라. 만일 너희가 한 사람이라도 찾을 수 있다면, 공의를 행하고 진리를 구하는 누군가가 있다면, 내가 그 성읍을 용서하리라.”(렘 5:1)

           사도 바울은 이 죄악 세상에 나타나신 하나님의 영광이신 예수님에 대하여 증거했습니다:

“하나님께서는 죄를 알지도 못하는 그를 우리를 위하여 죄로 삼으신 것은 우리로 하여금 그 안에서 하나님의 의가 되게 하려 하심이라.”(고후 5:21)

그렇습니다! 하나님께서는 이 땅에 사람을 창조하실 때에 헛되이 창조하시지 않고 그들로 하여금 그리스도 안에서 하늘과 땅에 충만하게 하려 하시는 계획을 세우셨습니다. 이로 인하여 그리스도이신 예수께서 사람의 모습으로 나타나셔서 세상 죄를 자신의 몸에 전가 받으시심으로써 그분 스스로 죄가 되셨습니다. 죄 없으신 분이 죄가 되시지 않고서는 어느 죄인도 하나님의 영광을 볼 수 없기에 마침내 아버지 하나님의 독생자의 영광이신 그분께서 은혜와 진리가 충만하신 모습으로 나타나셔서 우리의 죄들로 인하여 죽으셨던 것입니다.

           사도 바울은 본문 말씀에서 주 예수 그리스도를 믿음으로써 하나님의 의를 받아 의롭다고 칭함을 받은(justified) 사람들이 누리는 축복에 대하여 증거한 것입니다. 그 축복이 바로 하나님과 화평을 누리는 것으로서 주 예수 그리스도를 믿는 사람은 하나님의 영광을 볼 수 있게 된 것입니다. 그분을 믿는 사람은 그분 안에 거하며 또 그분께서 그들 안에 거하는 축복을 누린다는 것입니다. 하나님을 보는 것을 초월하여 하나님께서 안에 거하시는 가운데 결코 죽지 않는 바, 그들 안에 여호와 샬롬이 이루어지는 것입니다. 그들은 이른바 이 지상에서 이미 하나님께서 거하시는 영광 안에 들어간 것으로 하나님의 나라(왕국) 안에 이미 거하는 축복을 받은 자들인 것입니다:

“하나님의나라(왕국)는 먹고 마시는 것이 아니라 다만 성령 안에서 의와 화평과 기쁨이라.'(롬 14;17)

             회개하고 주 예수 그리스도를 믿음으로써 하나님과 화평을 누리는 사람들은 그분을 대신하여 죄인들을 하나님과 화해토록 하는 대사의 직분을 주신 것입니다:

“모든 것이 하나님께로부터 났으며 그분께서는 예수 그리스도를 통하여 스스로 우리와 화해하셨고 화해의 직분을 우리에게 주셨으니 즉 하나님께서 그리스도 안에 계셔서 세상을 자신과 화해하게 하시며 그들의 죄과를 그들에게 돌리지 아니하시고 우리에게 화해의 말씀을 맡겨주신 것이라. 그러므로 이제 우리는 그리스도를 대신한 대사들로서 하나님께서 우리를 통하여 권면하신 것같이 우리도 그리스도를 대신하여 너희에게 간구하노니 너희는 하나님과 화해하라.”(고후 5:18-20)

           주 예수 그리스도의 피를 믿음으로써 그 피를 통하여 모든 죄들을 용서받아 의롭게 된 사람들은 여호와 샬롬을 받은 자들로서 이제부터는 죄와 사망의 권세를 가지고 이 세상을 통치하고 있는 마귀를 두려워하지 않게 됨으로써 그,분께서 주시는 은혜 안에 거하면서 어떠한 경우에도 그분을 믿는 믿음 가운데 행하면서 장차 영광 가운데 나타나실 주 예수 그리스도를 바라는 소망 가운데 즐거워하는 삶을 살 수 있는 것입니다. 이 즐거움은 지각을 초월한 능력인 것입니다.

           또한 사도 바울은 “우리가 환난 중에서도 즐거워하나니 환난은 인내를 이루고 인내는 연단을, 연단은 소망을 이루는 줄 앎이라.”고 증거하고 있습니다.

           예수께서 세상을 떠나시기 전에 제자들에게 하신 말씀을 통해서 그리스도인들에게 이 세상이 어떤 곳인지에 대하여 분명하게 말씀하시고 있습니다:

“보라, 너희가 각자 자기 집으로 흩어지고 나를 혼자 남겨 놓을 그 때가 오나니, 실로 이미 왔노라. 그러나 나는 혼자 있지 아니하니, 이는 아버지께서 나와 함께 계심이라. 내가 이런 일들을 너희에게 말한 것은 너희가 내 안에서 화평을 지니게 하려 함이라. 세상에서는 너희가 환난을 당할 것이나 기운을 내라. 내가 세상을 이겼노라.”(요 16:32-33)

             그러므로 그리스도인들은 마귀가 통치하고 있는 세상에서 하나님과 화평을 누리기 위해서는 하나님의 말씀의 전신갑옷을 입고 인내해야 하는 것입니다. 또한 하나님의 말씀을 붙들고 인내할 때에 연단, 즉 하나님께서 모든 일을 합하여 선을 이루시는 것(롬 8:28)을 경험하게 되며 더욱 더 앞으로 나타날 하나님의 영광이신 주 예수 그리스도의 나타나심을 소망 가운데 바라보면서 영적으로 승리의 삶을 살 수 있게 되는 것이라고 사도 바울이 증거하고 있습니다.

             이 세상을 살아가고 있는 하나님의 자녀들은 환난과 연단을 거치게 되면서 때로는 믿지 않는 사람들로부터 조롱도 당할 수 있지만 그때마다 성령을 통하여 하나님의 사랑이 부어지게 되면서 환난과 박해 가운데서도 앞에 있는 그리스도의 날에 받을 소망을 부끄러워하지 않으며 기쁜 삶을 살 수 있는 것입니다. 사도 바울은 성령을 통하여 ㅈ=우리에게 부어주시는 하나님의 사랑에 대하여 “사랑은 오래 참고 친절하며 사랑은 시기하지 아니하고 사랑은 자랑하지 아니하며 자신의 유익을 추구하지 아니하고 급히 성내지 아니하며 악을 생각하지 아니하고 불의를 기뻐하지 아니하고 진리를 기뻐하고 모든 것을 참으며 모든 것을 믿고 모든 것을 바라며 모든 것을 견뎌내느니라.”(고전 13:4-7)증거한 것입니다.

           하나님의 사랑으로 충만하게 될 때에 우리 주 예수 그리스도를 통하여 하나님 안에서 또한 즐거워할 수 있는 것입니다. 그러므로 하나님과 화평 가운데 사는 그리스도인들은 항상 기뻐할 수 있으며 쉬지 않고 기도함으로써 성령을 통하여 주시는 하나님의 사랑으로 충만하게 되어 모든 것을 믿고 모든 일에 감사함으로써 하나님의 뜻을 이루시는데 쓰임받을 수 있는 것입니다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 23:1-6

Main scripture: Romans 5;1-11

Subject: The power and joy of them that have peace with God

           Apostle Paul testifies of the blessing for that are justified through believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. The peace with God is the blessing from justification. The peace spoken in the scriptures is “Shalom” in Hebrew. “Shalom” is the peace not fearing, that is beyond understanding.

           The judge, Gideon saw the angel of the LORD, but he not died even though he was supposed to die, but not dead through Shalom:

“And the angel of God said unto him, Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes, and lay them upon this rock, and pour out the broth. And he did so. Then the angel of the Lord put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then the angel of the Lord departed out of his sight.

And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the Lord, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord God! for because I have seen an angel of the Lord face to face. And the Lord said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die.

Then Gideon built an altar there unto the Lord, and called it Jehovah–shalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abi–ezrites.”(Judge 6:20-24)

                 At that time, the angel of the LORD was the appearance of Jehovah LORD God. In other word, Jehovah God appeared in the form of the angel. When Moses asked the LORD God to show him his glory. The LORD God said unto him, no one can live upon seeing him:

“And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.

And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.

And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

And the Lord said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:

And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:

And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.”(Ex. 33:18-23)

             Yeah! God is the Holy One without sin at all within him; sinners are to be death approaching unto him. We can understand the character of the LORD God how much God hate sins through his word spoken unto Moses before he went up to the Mount Sinai:

“And the Lord came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the Lord called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the Lord to gaze, and many of them perish.

And let the priests also, which come near to the Lord, sanctify themselves, lest the Lord break forth upon them.”(Ex. 19:20-25)

               Such a dreadful the LORD God appeared in the world in the form of man. So many people saw him, but no one died upon seeing him. Apostle John testified of the grace of God saying,

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”(John 1:14)

The LORD God gave them such a fullness of grace, but they not recognized him at all. They couldn’t see the fullness of truth within him at all either.

              The LORD God gave a burdensome message unto the people of Israel that was in fornication with the Gentile kingdoms departing from him, and worshipped their idols. They were ended up with not doing judgment as well as seeking the truth:

“Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.”(Jer. 5:1)

           Apostle Paul testified of Jesus who was the glory of God that appeared in the wicked world:

“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”(2Cor. 5:21)

Yeah! God created man in the earth not in vain, but he made a plan to have them full in heaven and earth in Christ. According to his pleasure of his plan, Christ Jesus appeared in the world, and transferred the sin of the world unto his for him to be sin, and died for us. No one can the glory of God unless the One without sin becomes sin itself. This is the reason why Jesus, the glory of the only begotten Son of God appeared as full of grace and truth to died for our sins.

              Apostle Paul testifies of the blessing for them that are justified through the righteousness of God through believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. It is the peace with God so that they can see the Glory of God. They that believe on him dwell in him, and he dwells in them. What a blessing it is! They not die upon seeing him that dwells within them. In other word, Jehovah-Shalom is within them. They have already entered into the glory where God abides; they have the blessing of dwelling in the kingdom of God.

“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”(Rom. 14:17)

           Whosoever have peace with God through believing on him are the ambassadors for Christ that reconcile sinners with God:

“And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.”(2Cor. 5:18-20)

             Whosoever are justified through believing the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ that gives the remission of sins is Jehovah-Shalom within them. They no more fear the devil that is reigning in the world with the power of sin and death, but abide in the grace of the Lord. They always walk in the faith of him hoping the glorious appearing the Lord Jesus Christ, and rejoicing always in the hope. This kind of joy is the power beyond understanding.

            Apostle Paul testifies of them that have peace with God:

“And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

And patience, experience; and experience, hope:”

            Before Jesus departed the world, he spoke unto the disciples to teach Christians what is the world unto them:

“Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”(John 16:32-33)

             Therefore, Christians should be clothed with the whole armor of the words of God to have peace with God in the wicked world where the devil still is reigning. And they should abide in the words of God with endurance unto experience of the goodness gathering together all things(Rom. 8:28). Then they shall be victorious life spiritually in the hope of appearing of the Lord Jesus Christ that is the glory of God.

                The children of God passing through the world could pass through tribulation and experience, and also could be mocked by people. But the love of God pouring through the Holy Ghost shall make not ashamed of the hope in the day of Christ, but rather be in joy. Apostle Paul testified of the charity that is the love of God:

“Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.”(1Cor. 13:4-7)

           When we are full of the love of God, we are able to rejoice in God through the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, the Christians that dwell in peace with God could rejoice always, and pray without ceasing to be full of the love of God given through the Spirit; and they could give thanks in all circumstances to be used to fulfill the will of God. Amen! Hallelujah!
