금주의 묵상: 시편

본문: 신명기 30:15-20

제목: 복과 생명, 저주와 사망 중에 무엇을 택하면서 살고 있는가?

             하나님께서는 만물 가운데 오직 사람에게만 자유의지를 주셨습니다. 또한 자유의지를 가지고 만물을 다스리는 축복을 받았습니다. 그러나 첫 사람 아담과 이브는 하나님께서 주신 자유의지를 잘못 사용하여 복과 생명 대신 저주와 사망을 택하였던 것입니다. 그들은 생명과 대신 선악과를 먹음으로써 자신들이 스스로 사망과 저주를 택했던 것입니다. 그 저주와 사망이 육천 년이라는 세월이 지난 오늘날까지 태어나는 모든 사람들에게 미치고 있는 것입니다. 사도 바울은 로마에 있는 성도들에게 이 사실에 대하여 증거했습니다:

“그러나 아담으로부터 모세까지 아담의 범죄와 같은 죄를 짓지 않은 자들 위에도 사망이 군림하였으니 아담은 오실 자의 모형이라.”(롬 5:14)

              하나님의 사람 모세는 이스라엘 백성들에게 한 가지 중요한 메시지를 선포했습니다:

“보라, 내가 오늘 생명과 선, 죽음과 악을 네 앞에 두어, 그 안에서 내가 오늘 명령하여 주 너의 하나님을 사랑하고 그분의 길에서 행하고 그분의 계명들과 그분의 규례들과 그분의 명령들을 지키게 하였으니, 이는 네가 살고 번성케 하려 함이라. 주 너의 하나님께서 네가 차지하러 가는 그 땅에서 너에게 복을 주시리라. 그러나 만일 네가 마음을 돌이켜서 듣지 아니하고 유혹을 받아 다른 신들을 경배하며 그들을 섬기면,내가 오늘 너희에게 엄숙히 선언하노니 너희는 반드시 망할 것이며, 네가 요단을 건너가서 차지하는 그 땅에서 너희 날들이 길지 못하리라.”(신 30:15-18)

               그는 더욱 구체적으로 다시 증거하기를, 하늘과 땅을 불러서 그들 앞에 증거를 삼아 말하면서, 그들 앞에 생명과 죽음, 복과 저주를 두었는바 그들이 살기 원하면 생명을 택하라고 말했습니다. 또한 그들을 이집트로부터 구원하신 주 하나님이 바로 그들의 생명이 되신다고 증거했습니다. 또한 그들이 생명을 택하기를 원한다면 생명이신 하나님의 말씀에 복종할 것을 명령했습니다. 그렇지 않으면 그들의 조상 아브라함에게 약속하신 땅에 들어가 오래 살 수 없다고 증거했습니다.

           에덴 동산에서 하나님께서 첫 사람에게 동산에 있는 나무들의 열매를 마음대로 먹을 수 있으나 선악의 지식의 나무에서 나는 열매는 먹지 말라는 말씀을 주시면서 너희가 먹는 날에는 반드시 죽으리라는 말씀을 주셨으나 그들은 생명의 말씀을 택하지 않고 마귀가 주는 사망과 저주의 말을 택한 것입니다. 이로 인하여 그들은 하나님께서 만드신 낙원, 에덴에서 살 수 없었습니다.

           사도 바울은 고린도교회 성도들에게 편지할 때에 “‘첫 사람 아담은 살아 있는 혼이 되었느니라.’함과 같이 마지막 아담은 살려주는 영이 되었느니라.”(고전 15:45)고 증거함으로써 아담의 형상을 입으시고 세상에 나타나신 예수 그리스도를 마지막 아담이라고 증거한 것입니다. 사도 바울은 아담에 대하여 증거할 때에 아담이 오실 자의 모형이라고 말하면서 예수 그리스도의 죽으심과 부활하심을 믿는 믿음을 통하여 유대인이나 이방인이나 누구든지 세상에 빛과 생명을 주시려고 오신 그분을 택함으로써 저주와 사망으로부터 구원받는 길을 열어주신 것에 대하여, 예수 그리스도는 아담으로부터 전해오는 사망과 저주를 끝내신 분이라는 의미로 그분을 마지막 아담이라고 증거한 것입니다.

           사도 바울은 로마에 있는 성도들에게 이 은혜에 대하여 자세하게 증거했습니다:

“그 범죄와는 다르지만 그 값었는 선물도 그러하도다. 만일 한 사람의 범죄로 인하여 많은 사람이 죽었다면 더욱더 하나님의 은혜와 한 사람 예수 그리스도로 인한 은혜로 말미암은 선물이 많은 사람에게 풍성하였느니라. 또 그것이 범죄한 한 사람으로 인한 것과는 다르지만 그 선물도 그러하도다. 이는 심판은 한 사람으로 말미암아 정죄에 이르렀지만 값없는 선물은 많은 범죄로 인해 의롭다 하심에 이르렀기 때문이라. 한 사람의 범죄로 말미암아 사망이 그 한 사람으로 인하여 군림하였다면 더욱더 은혜의 풍성함과 의의 선물을 넘치도록 받는 사람들이 한 사람 예수 그리스도로 인하여 생명 안에서 군림할 것이니라. 그러므로 한 사람의 범죄로 밀미암아 심판이 모든 사람에게 임하여 정죄에 이른 것같이 한 사람의 의로 말미암아 값없는 선물이 모든 사람에게 임하여 생명의 의롭다 하심에 이르렀느니라. 한 사람의 불순종으로 인하여 많은 사람이 죄인이 된 것같이 한 사람의 순종으로 인하여 많은 사람이 의인이 되리라.”(롬 5:15-19)

               하나님께서는 모세를 통하여 이스라엘 백성에게 율법을 주시고 살기 원하면 계명을 지킴으로써 생명을 택하라고 말씀하셨던 것입니다. 그러나 그들은 아담으로부터 물려받은 죄와 사망이 그들 안에 있었기에 그들은 율법을 지킬 수 없었으며 하나님께서도 그 사실을 잘 아시고 있었던 것입니다. 성령 안에서 이 진리를 깨달은 사도 바울은 계속해서 증거했습니다:

“율법이 들어온 것은 범죄가 많아지게 하려는 것이라. 그러나 죄가 많아진 곳에 은혜가 넘쳤나니 의가 군림하여 사망에 이른 것같이 은혜도 의를 통하여 군림하여 예수 그리스도 우리 주로 인해 영원한 생명에 이르게 하려는 것이라.”(롬 5:20-21)

             모세를 통하여 이스라엘 백성들에게 살기 위하여 생명을 택하라고 말씀하신 것은 아담이 세상에 뿌려놓은 죄들을 모두 자신의 몸에 전가 받으시고 죽으시고 부활하실 마지막 아담이신 주 예수 그리스도 안에 있는 생명을 택하라는 말씀이었던 것입니다. 이로 인하여 시도 바울은 이 그리스도의 복음이 믿는 모든 사람을 구원에 이르게 하는, 즉 생명을 얻게 하는 하나님의 능력이 된다고 증거하면서(롬 1:16), 첫째가 유대인이라고 분명하게 증거한 것입니다.

           주 하나님께서 아브라함에게 약속의 말씀을 주실 때에, “내가 이 땅을 이집트 강에서부터 큰 강 유프라테스까지 네 씨에게 주었으니, 켄인들과 크니스인들과 캇몬인들과 힛인들과 프리스인들과 르파인들과 아모리인들과 카나안인들과 기르가스인들과 여부스인들의 땅이니라.”(창 15:18-21)라고 말씀하셨습니다.

             성령께서는 사도 바울에게 아브라함의 씨가 누구인지에 대하여 분명하게 증거했습니다:

“이제 그 약속들은 아브라힘과 그의 씨에게 하신 것인데 많은 사람을 가리켜 씨들이라고 말씀하지 아니하시고 한 사람을 가리켜 너의 씨라고 말씀하셨으니 그는 그리스도시라.”(갈 3:16)

             그렇습니다. 오래 전에 하나님께서 여호수아를 통하여 이스라엘의 남은 자들을 가나안 땅으로 인도하셨습니다. 그러나 하나님께서 아브라함에게 언약하신 말씀가운데 그의 씨가 바로 주 예수 그리스도이신 것을 셩령께서 증거하신 것입니다. 그러므로 이스라엘 백성들은 앞으로 아브라힘의 씨이신 주 예수 그리스도를 통해서 약속의 땅에 들어갈 수 있게 되는 것입니다. 그러므로 그들도 생명이신 주 예수 그리스도를 택해야 하는 것입니다. 하나님께서는 시도 바울을 유대인과 이방인에게 복음을 전하는 그릇으로 사용하셨습니다.

               사도 바울은 히브리인들에게 주는 교리적인 말씀을 전할 때에 아브라함의 씨이신 그리스도 예수께서 미래에 어느날 그들을 그들의 약속의 땅으로 인도하실 것과 그 땅에 들어가기 위해서 그들이 택해야 할 생명에 대하여 증거했습니다:

“어느 곳에선가 일곱째 날에 관해서 이렇게 말씀하시기를 ‘하나님께서 일곱째 날에 그의 모든 일에서 쉬셨느니라.’고 하셨으며 여기에서 다시 ‘그들이 나의 안식에 들어오려면’이라고 말씀하셨느니라. 그러므로 누군가 거기에 들어가야만 하는 일이 남아 있으나 면저 복음을 들은 자들은 믿음 없음으로 인하여 들어가지 못한 것이라. 또 다시 오랜 세월 후에 어떤 날을 정하시어, 다윗 안에서 ‘오늘’이라 말씀하셨으니, 오늘 너희가 그의 음성을 듣거든 너희 마음을 완악하게 하지 말라.’함과 같으니라. 만일 예수가 그들에게 안식을 주었더라면 하나님께서 그후에 다른 날은 말씀하지 아니하셨으리라.. 그러므로 하나님의 백성에게 한 안식이 남아 있도다.”(히 4:4-9)

             하나님의 백성 이스라엘은 우리가 살고 있는 지구를 상속받는 언약을 받은 선택된 민족이었기에 하나님께서는 모세를 통하여 그들이 지킬 수 없는 율법을 주심으로써 결국은 율법의 저주 아래에서 수천 년을 살아오도록 하신 것입니다. 마침내 율법을 완성하신 주 예수 그리스도께서 만왕의 왕, 만주의 주로 오실 때 옛날 여호수아를 따라 가나안 땅에 들어가게 하신 것처럼 회개하고 주 예수 그리스도를 믿어 생명을 택하는 소수의 남은 자들을 하나님의 거룩한 산 시온으로 인도하시어 거룩한 제사장 민족이 되게 하실 것입니다.

             한편 하나님께서는 하늘에 살 자들을 그리스도 안에서 택하셔서 하나님의 자녀들로 입양하시는 은혜를 주셨습니다. 바로 지난 이천 년동안 유대인이나 이방인이나 차별 없이 주신 주 예수 그리스도의 은혜인 것입니다. 바로 마지막 아담이신 생명의 주이신 주님을 택함으로써 받는 영원한 생명인 것입니다.

           주님께서는 이 생명을 택하는 것에 대하여 유대인들을 향하여 말씀하셨습니다:

“수고하고 무거운 짐진 자들아, 다 내게로 오라. 그러면 내가 너희에게 쉼을 주리라.”(마 11:28)

주님께서는 자신을 믿는 자들에게 그들의 혼이 구원받아 쉼을 얻음으로써 영적인 하나님의 나라에 들어가게 될 것을 말씀하신 것입니다. 다시 말해서 영적인 가나안 땅에 들어가는 축복을 말씀하신 것입니다. 바로 하나님께서 주시는 안식에 들어가게 되는 것입니다. 사도 바울은 이 축복에 대하여 “그의 안식에 들어간 사람은 하나님께서 자기 일에서 쉬신 것같이 그도 자기 일에서 쉬었느니라.”(히 4:10)고 증거했습니다.

              그러나 하나님께서 이스라엘 백성들에게 주신 경고의 말씀처럼 영원한 생명을 받아 혼의 구원을 받아 성령 안에서 하나님의 자녀로 태어난 그리스도인들도 이 땅에 사는 동안 하나님께서 주시는 안식을 누리기 위하여 반드시 알아야 하는 중요한 메시지를 주셨습니다. 다시 말해서 정죄의식 없이 항상 평안을 누리기 위하여 어떤 삶을 살아야 하는 것에 대한 말씀인 것입니다. 사도 바울은 그의 삶 속에서 깨달은 것을 증거했습니다:

“그러므로 이제 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 자들에게는 결코 정죄함이 없나니, 그들은 육신을 따라 행하지 아니하고 성령을 따라 행하느니라. 이는 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 생명의 성령의 법이 죄와 사망의 법에서 나를 해방시켰기 때문이라……육신의 일을 따르는 사람들은 육신의 일들을 생각하나 성령을 따르는 사람들은 성령의 일들을 생각하느니라. 육신적으로 생각하는 것은 사망이나 영적으로 생각하는 것은 생명과 화평이니라.”(롬 8:1,2,5,6)

             그렇습니다! 주 예수 그리스도의 보혈을 통하여 죄사함을 받아 하나님과 화평을 누리는 그리스도인들 앞에도 이 세상을 살아가는 데 항상 복과 저주와 생명과 사망이 놓여있는 것입니다. 그러므로 어떤 상황 가운데서도 성령께서 주시는 말씀을 따라가지 않고 자신의 육신의 생각을 따라가게 되면 사망 가운데 거할 수 있는 것입니다. “주의 말씀은 내 발의 등불이요, 내 길에 빛이니이다“라고 고백한 다윗처럼 우리는 어두운 광야같고 뱀과 전갈이 있는 어두운 죄악 세상을 항상 영적인 말씀으로 비추면서 좌로나 우로나 치우치지 않고 빛 가운데 살아가면서 생명과 화평의 복된 삶을 살아야 하는 것입니다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms

Main scripture: Deuteronomy 30:15-20

Subject: What are you choosing out of blessing and life or curse and death in daily life?

God has given the free will only unto man of all other creatures. And the first man received the reigning power of all things with his free will given by God. But unfortunately, Adam and Eve used their free will wrongfully to choose curse and death instead of blessing and life. They chose to eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil ended up with curse and death for them. The curse and death that were chosen by them have been inherited unto all men for six thousand years. Apostle Paul testified of the miserable thing unto the saints in Rome:

“Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.”(Rom. 5:14)

              Moses, man of God declared a very important message from the LORD God unto the people of Israel:

“See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;

16In that I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.

17But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;

18I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.”(Deut. 30:15-18)

               He testified of this message in more details. he called heaven and earth to receive that day against them, that he had set before them life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore, he asked them to choose life, so that they and their seed might live. He also testified of the Lord God their life; and asked them to obey his word if they wanted to live. And he also sais unto them, they shall not dwell in the land which their LORD swore unto their fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

              Apostle Paul testified of the Lord Jesus Christ unto the saints of Corinthians:

“And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.”(1Cor. 15:45)

He testified of the Lord Jesus Christ as the last Adam who was clothed with the form of Adam. He also testified of Adam as the figure of him that was to come. He also testified of the Lord Jesus Christ that has opened the way to be delivered from curse and death through his death and resurrection for whosever the Jews or the Gentiles when they choose him that has come to the world to give light and life. The Lord Jesus Christ is the one that ended death and curse inherited from Adam.

               Apostle Paul testified of such a amazing grace of the Lord Jesus Christ unto the Romas:

“15But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

16And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.

17For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

18Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

19For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.”(Rom. 5:15-19)

                 The LORD God gave the law though Moses, and spoke unto them to keep the law if they wanted to live. But unfortunately, sin and death inherited from Adam were already within them so that they couldn’t keep the law of God as known by God. Apostle Paul understood this truth in the Holy Ghost to continue to testify:

“20Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

21That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.”(Rom. 5:20-21)

           When the LORD God asked them to choose to live, he was asking them to choose the life in the Lord Jesus Christ, the last Adam to come who shall transfer all sins of the world spread out by Adam, and die and rise again. This is the reason why Apostle Paul testified of the gospel of Christ that gives the power of salvation to whomsoever believe, the Jews first and the gentiles(Rom. 1:16)

              The LORD God gave the word of promise unto Abraham saying,

“18In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

19The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,

20And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,

21And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”(Gen. 15:18-21)

             The Holy Ghost testified of the seed of Abraham unto Apostle Paul:

“16Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.”(Gal. 3:16)

             Yeah! Long time ago the LORD God led the people of Israel through Joshua to the land of Canaan. The Holy Ghost testified of the seed of Abraham that is Jesus Christ through Apostle Paul. Therefore, the people of Israel shall be able to enter the land of promise led by the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the reason why they have to choose the Lord Jesus Christ that is their life. This is the reason why God had chosen Apostle Paul to preach the gospel unto the Jew and the Gentiles.

              Apostle Paul preached a very important word of doctrine unto the Hebrews. He testified, Christ Jesus, the seed of Abraham will lead them to the land of promise in the future, and they have to choose life to enter the promised land:

“4For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

5And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

6Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

7Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

8For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

9There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.”(Heb. 4:4-9)

             The people of Israel have been chosen to inherit the earth where we live. And the LORD God gave them the law that they couldn’t keep so that they might have been living under the curse of the law. The Lord Jesus Christ will lead them that repent unto Zion, the holy mountain when he comes as the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords, as they entered the land of Canaan led by Joshua.

               In other hand, God has chosen them that shall dwell in heaven in Christ to give them the grace to be the children of God. This is the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ that has been given unto the Jews and the Gentiles without discrimination. This is the life eternal given through choosing the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of life that is the last Adam.

               Jesus spoke unto the Jews to choose life saying,

“28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”(Matt. 11:28)

He asked them to enter the kingdom of God through believing in him being saved of their souls. In other word, Jesus spoke of the blessing to enter the spiritual land of Canaan. he testified of the rest given by God. Apostle Paul testified of this kind of blessing:

“10For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.”(Heb. 4:10)

               As the word of warning that was given unto the people of Israel, the Holy Ghost gives a very important message unto the children of God to have rest in the world even though they are saved unto the eternal life of their souls. In other word, of the life to live in peace without condemnation that is guilty feeling. Apostle Paul understood of this and testified:

“1There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

… 5For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

6For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”(Rom. 8:1,2,5,6)

             Yeah! We have to remember that blessing and curse, life and death are before the earthly life of the Christians that have peace with God through the remission of sins through the blood of Christ. Therefore, in any kinds of situation, they also could abide in the midst of death if they follow their own thoughts not following the words given by the Spirit of God. As David confessed, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path”(Ps. 119:105), we have to shine the light unto the evil world as the wilderness in darkness not to fall to the right and left to live in blessing of life and peace. Amen! Hallelujah!
