금주의 묵상: 시편 45:1-17

본문: 룻기 1:1-18

제목: 우리의 영원한 어머니 새 예루살렘

        오늘 우리는 재판관들이 이스라엘을 다스리던 때에 평범한 한 가족에게 일어난 불행한 사건을 보고 있습니다. 모든 문제는 그들이 살고 있던 베들레헴 유다 땅에 심한 기근이 일어남으로 인해 먹을 것을 구하기 위해 네 식구가 이방 나라 모압 땅으로 가는 것으로부터 시작했습니다.

         그러나 그들이 모압 땅에 거하는 동안  그들의 가장이며 나오미의 남편인 엘리멜렉이 죽었습니다. 그들의 두 아들들은 모압 땅에서 이방 신을 섬기는 여인들과 혼인하여 십 년을 살고 불행하게도 그 두 아들들이 젊은 나이에 모두 죽고 과부들 셋만이 남게 된 것입니다.

        마침내 나오미는 여인 세 사람이 더 이상 이방 나라에서 연명하는 것이 가능하지 못한 것을 알고 생각하던 중에 하나님께서 유다 땅의 백성을 찾아오시어 양식을 주셨다는 소식을 듣고 두 며느리들을 데리고 유다 땅에 돌아가려고 길을 가고 있었습니다.그러나 아직 그들이 젊은 나이에 과부가 된 것을 불쌍하게 여긴 나오미는 그들에게 재혼할 것을 권유하면서 주께서 그들을 선대하시기를 원한다고 그들을 축복했습니다.

          하나님께서는 이름 없는 한 가정이 기근으로 인해 세 사람이 이방 나라에서 모두 죽고 끝까지 시어머니를 따라 유다 땅으로 간 며느리 룻에 관한 말씀을 통해서 하나님께서 계획하신 일을 이루시는 것을 볼 수 있는 것입니다.

       자신의 가족들과 자신이 섬기던 이방 신들을 모두 버리고 비참하게 된 자기 시어머니의 권유에도 불구하고 끝까지 따라간 룻의 믿음을 통하여 우리는 그녀가 하나님께로부터 받은 영육 간의 축복을 볼 수 있는 것입니다.

        그녀가 자기 시어머니 나오미에게 말한 것을 통해서 그녀의 믿음의 결심을 볼 수 있는 것입니다:

“나로 어머니를 떠나라고 하거나, 어머니를 따른 것에서 떠나 돌아가라고 강권하지 마소서. 어머니가 가시는 곳에 나도 가고 어머니가 유숙하시는 곳에 나도 유숙하리이다. 어머니의 백성이 내 백성이 되고 어머니의 하나님이 내 하나님이 되시리이다. 어머니께서 죽으시는 곳에서 나도 죽고 거기서 장사되리니, 죽음 외에 그 무엇이 어머니와 나를 떼어 놓는다면 주께서 내게 벌을 내리시고 더 내리시기를 원하시나이다.”(룻 1:16-17)

          하나님께서는 장차 죄와 사망과 저주들 가운데 고통 받는 사람들을 구원하시기 위해 태초에 계셨던 말씀 하나님이신 자신의 독생자를 세상에 보내시기 위해 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱을 택하시고 야곱의 아들들 중에 특별히 유다를 택하셨습니다. 또한 유다 지파 중에서 하나님께서는 앞으로 나타나실 그리스도의 모형이 되어 자신의 독생자에 대하여 많은 예언을 하며 그의 모형이 될 다윗을  태어나게 하시기 전에 이방 나라 모압 땅에 있는 룻을 눈여겨 보셨던 것입니다.

        하나님께서 세우신 계획을 이루시기 위해 잠시 동안 나오미에게 극심한 고난을 허락하시어 자신의 이름을 마라라고 부르라고 말하면서 하나님께서 자신을 심히 모질게 대하셨다고 말했지만 하나님께서는 그녀 나오미의 이름을 성경에 기록하게 하신 것입니다. 사실 그녀는 엄청난 상을 받은 것입니다. 선지자들을 비롯하여 하나님의 뜻을 이루시기 위하여 쓰임 받은 사람들은 세상에 사는 동안 까닭 없이 엄청난 고난을 받은 것을 성경을 통하여 보게 됩니다.

        마침내 시어머니와 그녀가 섬기는 하나님을 따라 유다 땅 베들레헴에 간 룻은 하나님께서 미리 계획하신 대로 보아스의 아내가 되었으며 마침내 앞으로 태어날 다윗 왕의 징조할머니가 된 것입니다. 룻기 마지막 장에서 마침내 룻이 받은 축복을 증거하고 있는 것입니다.

“이것이 파레스의 후대니, 파레스는 헤스론을 낳고, 헤스론은 람을 낳고, 람은 암미나답을 낳고, 암미나답은 나손을 낳고, 나손은 살몬을 낳고, 살몬은 보아스를 낳고, 보아스는 오벳을 낳고, 오벳은 이새를 낳고, 이새는 다윗을 낳았더라.”(룻 4:18-22)

          뿐만 아니라, 성령께서는 유대인의 왕의 계보 안에 룻이라는 이방 여인의 이름을 넣으심으로써 그녀가 받은 엄청난 축복에 대하여 증거하고 있는 것입니다:

“살몬은 라합에게서 보아스를 낳고, 보아스는 룻에게서 오벳을 낳고, 오벳은 이새를 낳고 ,이새는 다윗왕을 낳으니라.”(마 1:5-6)

            다윗의 자손으로 오신 예수께서 유대인들에게 말씀하셨습니다:

“하나님께서 명령하여 말씀하시기를 ‘네 아버지와 어머니를 공경하라. 또 아버지와 어머니를 저주하는 자는 죽이라.’고 하셨느니라. 그러나 너희가 말하기를 ‘나로 인하여 유익을 받게 될 것은 무엇이나 예물이라고 자기 아버지와 어머니에게 말하는 사람은 누구라도 자기 아버지나 어머니를 공경하지 않아도 무방하다.’ 하니, 그렇게 해서 너희는 너희 전통으로 하나님의 계명을 폐기시키고 있는 것이라.”(마 16:4-6)

          성령께서는 사도 바울을 통하여 부모를 공경하는 사람에게 주시는 축복에 대하여 증거하게 하셨습니다:

“자녀들아 주 안에서 너희 부모에게 순종하라. 이것이 옳으니라. 네 아버지와 어머니를 공경하라. (이것이 약속 있는 첫 계명이니) 이는 네가 잘 되고 또 땅에서 장수하게 하려 함이니라.”(엡 6:1-3)

         하나님께서는 사도 바울을 통하여 하나님을 아버지로 섬기는 자녀들에게 한 어머니가 있음에 대하여 갈라디아 교회 성도들에게 증거했습니다:

“위에 있는 예루살렘은 자유로우니 우리 모두의 어머니라.”(갈 4:26)

         그렇습니다! 비록 이 땅에 섬길 어머니가 없을지라도 또한 어머니가 있어도 주 안에서 섬길 수 없을지라도 우리 모두의 어머니가 하늘에 있는 예루살렘, 즉 우리의 영원한 집인 새 예루살렘이라는 엄청난 축복을 우리에게 주신 것입니다. 우리는 영원토록 그 영원하신 어머니를 섬기면서 살 수 있는 것입니다. 우리의 영원한 어머니의 품에 영원히 안겨서 영원하신 하나님 아버지와 영원하신 남편이신 주 예수 그리스도와 함께 만물을 충만케 하는 일을 영원무궁토록 하게 될 것입니다. 성경은 하늘에 있는 우리의 어머니에 대하여 사도 요한을 통하여 증거하고 있습니다:

“나 요한은 거룩한 도성 새 예루살렘이 하나님께로부터 하늘로부터 하늘에서 내려오는 것을 보았는데 마치 신부가 자기 남편을 위하여 단장한 것과 같이 예비되었더라….그가 영 안에서 나를 이끌어 크고 높은 산으로 가서 그 큰 도성 거룩한 예루살렘이 하나님께로부터 하늘에서 내려가는 것을 내게 보여주니, 하나님의 영광이 있어 그 도성의 광채가 가장 귀한 보석 같고, 벽옥 같으며, 수정같이 맑고 또 크고 높은 성벽도 있으며, 열두 대문이 있고 그 문에는 열두 천사의 이름들이 기록되어 있는데 그것은 이스라엘 자손 열두 지파의 이름이더라. “(계 21:2, 10-12)

         사도 요한은 계속해서 증거할 때에  마치 우리의 영원한 어머니처럼 우리를 하나님의 사랑으로 영원히 품을 우리의 영원한 거처가 될 새 예루살렘이 얼마나 크고 아름다운지에 대하여 그 도성의 길이와 너비와 높이가 일만 이천 스타디온,  즉 세 면이 우리의 척도로 약 1,200 마일이나 되며 성곽은 벽옥이며, 도성의 기초석은 열두 가지 보석이며, 열두 대문은 진주로 되어있으며, 도성의 거리는 순금으로 투명한 유리 같다고 그가 본 것을 증거했습니다.

        그러므로 우리는 이 영원한 어머니인 새 예루살렘을 증거하면서, 즉  우리 주 예수 그리스도의 은혜의 복음을 전하여 기근과 고통 가운데 살고 있는 사람들을 영원한 어머니의 품으로 인도하여 우리의 어머니를 공경하는 축복을 누려야 되지 않겠습니까?  아멘! 할렐루야!

This week’s meditation: Psalms 45: 1-17

Text: Ruth 1: 1-18

Title: The New Jerusalem is our eternal mother

        Today we are seeing the unfortunate incident that happened to a family when judges ruled Israel.  All the problem was started by a family of four in order to get something to eat because of severe famine occurs in Bethlehem, land of Judah, they were going to live in the land of Moab.

         But Naomi’s husband, Elimelech died in the land of Moab. Their two sons lived ten years in marriage with heathen women who served their gods  in the land of Moab, unfortunately, that the two sons had both died at a young age leaving  the two widows .

        Finally, in the midst of thinking not to be able to survive among the three women in the heathen country anymore,  Naomi was returning to the land of Judah       with her two daughters in law upon hearing  that the LORD God visited Judah to give them bread. But  Naomi pity with her two widows at their young ages, and recommended  them  to be married again. She blessed them saying  the Lord may deal kindly with them.

          We are able to see the plan of the LORD God through the story of a family of three men died in the land of heathen nation because of famine as well as of Ruth following her mother in law to the land of Judah.  

       Through the faith of Ruth that followed her miserable mother in Law, Naomi forsaking the Gentile gods and her family in spite of Naomi’s sincere recommendation, we saw the blessing from God in the present world as well as in heaven spiritually.

        She was determined to follow through her faith to say Naomi, her mother in law:  

” And Ruth said, Entreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:

Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.“(Ruth 1: 16-17 )

           The LORD God had chosen Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and Judah especially of the sons of Jacob to send his only begotten Son, the Word in the beginning to the world in the future to deliver them that are troubled in the midst of sin and death and curse. The LORD God was looking at Ruth in the land of Moab, before David was born in the tribe of Judah. And God had planned for David to prophecy of the Christ, the only begotten Son of God to come making him as the model of Christ.

          To fulfill the plan of God, he  allowed the  extreme hardship to Naomi for a while calling herself Mara saying God dealt very bitterly with her. But instead, God allowed the name of Naomi to be recorded in the word of God. She was rewarded by God greatly at the end. We have been seeing  many servants of God such as prophets have passed through severe sufferings without cause  in the world. 

        Finally, Ruth was be married to Boaz as planned by the LORD God to be rewarded for her faith of following her mother in law even though she was in bitterness; she became the grand-grand- mother of David.  In the final chapter of Ruth, the scripture testifies of the blessing of Ruth:

” 18Now these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron, And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab, And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and  Nahshon begat Salmon, And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed, And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.“(Ruth 4: 18-22).

          In addition, the Holy Ghost put the name of  Ruth in the genealogy of the King of the Jews to testify the tremendous blessing she received as official: ” And Salmon begat Booz of Rahab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse; 6And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;“ (Matthew 1: 5-6)

            Jesus came as the Son of David said to the Jews:

” For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. 5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;  And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.““(Matthew 16: 4-6)

          We have the Holy Spirit to bear witness of the blessings to those who honor their parents as Apostle Paul testified: “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.“ (Eph. 6:1 -3)

         God testified to the Galatians of a mother to his children that serving God the Father, through the Apostle Paul: ” But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.” (Galatians 4:26)

         That’s right! Even though someone may neither have the mother to honor in this world nor to honor mother in the Lord , all of us are blessed to have the mother of us all in heaven that is the New Jerusalem that is our eternal dwelling place. We are going to honor the eternal mother in the bosom of our  mother in heaven. We shall be filling all in all forever more together with our Father God, and the Lord Jesus Christ that is our eternal husband. Apostle John testified of our mother in heaven:  

” 1And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.  And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.….. And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: “(Rev. 21: 2, 10-12)

         Apostle John continued to testify of the New Jerusalem that is our eternal dwelling place how great and beautiful being embraced by the love of God. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal as much as twelve thousand furlong that is almost equal as twelve thousand miles in our measurement.  And the building of the wall of it was jasper; and the city was pure gold like unto clean glass. And the foundation of the wall of the city were garnished  with all manner of precious stones of twelve different ones.

        What about preaching the gospel of the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ testifying of the New Jerusalem that is the eternal mother to lead them that are suffering in the midst of famine and troubles to the bosom of the eternal mother to honor her in heaven? Amen! Hallelujah!
