The contemplation of the week: Psalm 39: 1-13

Text: Luke 10: 38-42

Word Title: One thing is needful

         As we look at our busy lives to get what we need to live, we see ourselves becoming one of them. I see people live busy and have death one day to get what they need as they live. Watching these people daily, King David confessed to the Lord God in prayer:

” Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them. And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.“ (Psalm 39: 6- 7)

           In the scripture given to us  today, in the short words the Lord gave to Martha and Mary, we must realize the very important truths. He told Martha:

” Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:  But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:41-42)

           Martha did not realize the one thing is needful   and was concerned with the unnecessary works at that time. In the mind of man, Martha, who is working hard to entertain the Lord with great care, is rebuked. Also, praising Mary at a busy time to prepare a meal without telling Mary, help your sister and thereafter listen to his  words, At that time of the meal, Jesus said, “Only one thing is needful.

         That is correct! One can think of Martha as a more diligent and thoughtful woman than her sister Mary, and the Lord and Mary will be regarded as people who do not understand something common sense.

        In the words of the Lord, we must realize the will of the Word. Because the Lord is saying that there is only one thing that is needful. In other words, what was one of the things that the Lord did during his ministry in the world? Is not it the Lord Himself? Mary, who realized this important thing, could not leave the Lord. The Lord had to leave after the meal, so even though Mary was rebuked by her sister, she had done all she could to hear the Lord’s words.

         One of the words that we often hear from the carnal Christians in this age is, “Does the Word feed you?” Mary believed that the Word also feeds her. She knew that the Lord Jesus is the Creator, and he did not tell his disciples to prepare food to feed five thousand men a while ago, but he fed them with five pieces of bread and two fish, which the little boy had given him, and twelve baskets full of it was left over.

         If Martha had been seated at the feet of the Lord with her sister Marie, saying that she wanted to hear the Lord’s message , Jesus would have been able to feed them with divine food.

            It may be a blessed time to realize that only God’s own Word is one needful thing. In other words, if we realize that only the word of God is the only thing that is needful, everyone will be blessed to meet the Lord in glory, enjoying a happy and blessed life in this busy world of labor and suffering.

            In order to realize that “one needful thing” that the Lord has spoken is the word of God, let us be the time to realize in the word of God. When we lose something that is important, there are times when we are hurriedly looking for several places. In many cases, however, we found the first place we searched for.

          If so, we have to meditate deeply    why should people have to work so hard to eat and live . In conclusion, the Bible says that man has lost the “one thing that is needed” that God has spoken.

            Our first ancestors, Adam and Eve, were given but one important thing, a word of God::

 ”  Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:  But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die” (Gen 2: 16-17)

            If they had kept this one important thing, they would not have done much to worry and labor as much as Martha. Of course, we already know that God has sent His only begotten Son as last Adam, the Lord Jesus Christ, to the earth, to reveal the last Adam that shall a destroy the devil that has stolen, killed, and destroyed one important word of God in the Garden of Eden.  .

         That is correct! Because we cannot see all of the mysterious will of God’s Word that created the world in order to manifest the one and only important fact in heaven and earth to all people, In order to realize it, we must listen to God’s word and meditate and meditate like Mary.

           If we realize today what kind of person we are, Martha or Mary, our future life will be in peace and blessing. Are we concerned about various things? Or leave everything to the Lord. We must look at ourselves to see if we live a life of obedience to one important word that the Lord cares for.

           God has long ago given the word of blessing through the prophet Isaiah to those who realize the truth that one important thing is the Word of God:

” Thus saith the Lord, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.“(Isaiah 66: 1-2)

           That is correct! In order to enjoy God’s care and caring life while we live on earth, we must live trembling to believe that all the words of God are the most important thing in this world. The Apostle Paul strongly urged the Saints of the Philippian Church:

” Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” (Philippians 2: 1)

          We have to understand what kind of man is the one that is poor in spirit and tremble at the word of God. The Lord made it clear that it is sin  not to believe in Him. Of course, a person who does not believe in the gospel of Christ’s grace is guilty and is not saved, but even if he is saved, not believing his words and not being obedient with fear and trembling is also a sin. We must contemplate a deeply repenting sin that is not obedient to the Word. We should not live a life without guilt about moral justice as we hypocrites and not obeying the Word of God.

          The Lord has said, he cannot  rest  because of  the children of God and his  people for they  live in hypocrite, despising the words of God. In this moment, let us examine ourselves of not understanding the words of God  which is the only thing that is needful, and we are not obedient to his words, and repent in grief, and trembling at the words of God. Then, even though  we  do not have to work with many concerns as Martha , we shall be living the blessing of God resting in the hands of the Lord. God may bless you all!.  Amen! Hallelujah!
