성시:시편 30:1-12

본문: 요한복음 5:17-27

제목: 듣는 자들은 살리라!

     본문은 태초부터 있으시던 생명의 말씀(요일 1:1)이신 하나님의 독생자이신 주 예수 그리스도께서 영적으로 죽은 자들에게 말씀하시는 장면이다. 사도 요한은 주 예수 그리스도에 대하여 확실하게 증거했다:

“태초부터 계셨고, 우리가 들었으며, 우리 눈으로 보았고, 주목하여 살폈으며, 우리 손으로 직접 만졌던 생명의 말씀에 관해서라.”(요일 1:1)

    첫 사람 아담이 범죄한 이후로 이 땅에는 생명 대신에 사망이 군림하고 있었다. 이 흑암 속에 처음으로 생명의 빛이 비치고 있었다. 선지자 이사야는 생명의 빛이신 주 예수 그리스도께서 이 땅에 나타나실 것을 미리 예언했다:

“흑암에서 행하던 백성이 큰 빛을 보았으며, 죽음의 그림자의 땅에 거하는 자들 위에 빛이 비치었도다.”(사 9:2)

     침례인 요한이 감옥에 갇힌 것을 들으시고 갈릴리로 떠나시어 가퍼나움에 거하시면서 사역을 공개적으로 시작하시는 주님 자신도 선지자 이사야의 예언을 이루시기 위함이라고 증거하셨다:

“요단 강 저편, 이방인들의 갈리리, 해변 길의 스불론 땅과 납탈리 땅아, 흑암에 앉은 백성들이 큰 빛을 보았고, 또 죽음의 땅과 그늘에 앉은 자들에게 빛이 비치었도다.”(마 4:15-16)

그 때부터 예수께서 전파하기 시작하여 말씀하시기를 “회개하라, 천국이 가까이 왔느니라.”고 하셨다.

     유대인들은 하나님의 아들이신 주 예수 그리스도를 알아보지 못하고 오히려 죽이려고 했다. 요한이 증거한대로 그분 안에 생명이 있어 그 생명의 빛이 어두움 속에 비치어도 어두움이 그것을 알지 못했다(요 1:4-5). 그들은 선지자들을 통해 하신 말씀들을 듣지 않고 세상 신과 한 편이 되어 오히려 그들을 죽였기에 말라기 선지자 후에 사백년을 생명의 말씀이 없이 어두움 속에 살았으며 선지자들을 통해 말씀하신 하나님의 아들을 볼 수 없었던 것이다.

     그들은 하나님께서는 아들을 통하여 이 세상에 생명을 주시기를 원하시는 뜻을 깨닫지 못했던 것이다. 주님께서는 죽은 자들이 생명을 받는 비결에 대해 아주 분명하게 말씀하셨다:

“진실로 진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, 내 말을 듣고, 또 나를 보내신 분을 믿는 자는 영생을 얻고, 정죄에 이르지 아니할 것이며, 사망에서 생명으로 옮겨지느니라. 진실로, 진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, 죽은 자들이 하나님의 아들의 음성을 들을 때가 오고 있나니 바로 지금이라. 듣는 자들은 살리라. 이는 아버지께서 자신 안에 생명을 지니신 것같이 아들에게도 생명을 주시어 아들 안에 지니게 하심이라.”(요 5:24-26)

    생명을 주셨던 아들 하나님께서는 심판하시려 오실 때까지 더 이상 이 세상에 계시지 않으신다. 아들의 음성을 듣는자들이 살진대 어떻게 아들의 음성을 들을 것인가?  아버지 하나님께서 아들의 이름으로 보내신 위로자 성령께서 아들을 증거하신 말씀 속에 생명이 있는 것이다. 아들의 몸 안에 있던 생명이 이제는 아들의 말씀 속에 있는 것이다. 성령께서는 이 사실을 사도들을 통하여 말씀하셨다. 사도들은 이 생명을 주는 말씀이 복음 안에 있음을 온 세상에 다시 한 번 전파한 것이다.

     사도 바울은 복음에 관하여 분명하게 증거했다:

“형제들아, 내가 너희에게 전한 복음을 이제 너희로 알게 하노니 이는 너희가 받았고 그 안에 선 것이라. 먼이 너희가 내가 전한 복음을 굳게 잡고 헛되이 믿지 아니하였다면 복음을 통하여너희도 구원을 받은 것이라. 내가 받은 것을 먼저 너희에게 전달하였나니 이는 성경대로 그리스도께서 우리의 죄들로 인하여 죽으시고 장사되셨다가 성경대로 셋째 날에 다시 살아나셔서 게바에게 보이시고 그후에 열두 사도에게 보이신 것이라.”(고전 15:1-5)

“내가 그리스도의 복음을 부끄러워하지 아니하노니 이는 이 복음이 믿는 모든 사람을 구원에 이르게 하는 하나님의 능력이 됨이라. 첫째는 유대인에게요, 또한 헬라인에게로다.”(롬 1:16)

     사도 베드로도 듣는자가 거듭남을 통하여 살 수 있는 복음에 대하여 증거했다:

“너희가 거듭난 것은 썩어질 씨로 된 것이 아니라 썩지 아니할 씨로 된 것이니 살아있고 영원히 거하는 하나님의 말씀으로 되었느니라. 이는 모든 육체는 풀과 같고 사람의 모든 영광은 풀의 꽃과 같으며, 풀은 마르고 꽃은 져도 주의 말씀은 영원토록 남아 있음이라. 이것이 너희에게 복음으로 전해진 말씀이라.”(벧전 1:23-25)

     복음의 말씀을 통해 생명을 받은 사람들은 생명의 복음의 말씀을 전파할 수 있으며 이 복음을 듣는 자들은 살아나는 것이다. 하나님과 아들 안에 있는 생명이 그리스도인들 안에도 있게 된 것이다. 이 얼마나 놀라운 일인가? 이 진리를 깨달은 사람들은 입을 넓게 열고 복음을 전파하는 것이다. 죽은 자들이 살아나는 이 엄청난 말씀을 전파하는 특권인 것이다. 사도 바울은 이런 자들의 축복에 관해 증거했다:

“주의 이름을 부르는 자는 누구나 구원을 받으리라. 그런즉 그들이 믿지 아니한 이를 어찌 부르리요? 듣지도 못한 이를 어찌 믿으리요? 전파하는 자가 없이 어찌 들으리요? 파송되지 않았는데 어찌 전파하리요? 화평의 복음을 전하며 좋은 일들의 기쁜 소식을 가져오는 자들의 발이 얼마나 아름다운가?”(롬 10:13-15)

     주님께서는 떠나시기 전에 제자들에게 엄청난 약속을 하셨다:

“진실로 진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, 나를 믿는 자는 내가 하는 일들을 할 것이요 또 이보다 더 큰 일들을 할 것이라. 이는 내가 아버지께로 가기 때문이라.”(요 14:12)

그렇다! 아들의 말을 듣는 자들이 생명을 받고 살아난 것처럼 아들의 죽으심과 부활을 통하여 주신 복음의 말씀을 전파함으로써 우리도 죽은 자들을 살릴 수 있는 것이다. 아들 안에 있는 생명이 사람들의 빛인 것처럼, 우리 안에 있는 생명 역시 사람들에게 비치어 생명을 줄 수 있는 것이다. 아담은 살아있는 혼이었지만 마지막 아담은 살려주는 영이시다(고전 15:45). 우리 안에 계시는 그리스도의 영은 죽은 자들을 살리는 영인 것이다. 모두가 이 생명을 전함으로 그리스도의 기쁨에 동참하지 않겠는가? 할렐루야!

Subject: They that hear shall live

     In the mail passage, the only begotten Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ is speaking to the spiritually dead; he was the Word of life from the beginning(1John 1:1). Apostle John testified clearly of the Lord Jesus Christ:

“ ¹That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;”(1John 1:1)

     Since Adam, the first man sinned, death has been ruling in the world instead of life. For the first time, the light of life was shining in the darkness. Prophet Isaiah prophesized of the Lord Jesus Christ appearing in the world as the light of life:

 “²The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.”(Isa 9:2)

     Jesus heard that John the Baptist was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee; and he came and dwelt in Capernaum to start his ministry. Jesus confirmed his ministry to achieve the prophesy of Isaiah:

 “ ¹⁵The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;   ¹⁶The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. “(Matt 4:15-16)

From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

     The Jews failed to recognize the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and rather tried to kill him. As John testified, the darkness couldn’t understand the light even though the light of life was shining into the darkness (John 1:4-5). They didn’t want to hear the words of God spoken through prophets; they rather kill him together with the god of the world so that they couldn’t know the Son of God prophesized by the prophets.

     They couldn’t understand the will of God that he wanted give the life to the world through his Son. Jesus testified clearly of the way to receive life for the dead:

“²⁴Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.  ²⁵Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.  ²⁶For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; “(John 5:24-26)

     The Son of God is no more here in the earth until he comes to judge the world. Then how we can hear the voice of the Son since they that hear the voice of the Son shall live? The life is in the word spoken by the Comforter, the Holy Ghost sent by God in the name of his Son. The life in the body of the Son is now in the word of the Son. The Holy Ghost spoke this truth through the Apostles. Apostles preached of the life which is in the gospel of Christ once again.

     Apostle Paul testified clearly of the gospel of Christ:

  “ ¹Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;  ²By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. ³For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; ⁴And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:  ⁵And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: “(1Cor 15:1-5)

“ ¹⁶For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”(Rom 1:16)

     Apostle Peter testified of the gospel that gives regeneration of the spirit:

  “ ²³Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. ²⁴For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: ²⁵But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.”(1Pet 1:23-25)

     Whosoever that has received the life through the word of the gospel may be able to preach the gospel, and they that hear the gospel shall live. The life that was in God and his Son is now in Christians. What a wonderful thing it is? They that understand this truth are preaching the gospel opening their mouth widely. This is a great authority that gives the life to the dead. Apostle Paul testified of such blessing:

  “¹³For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  ¹⁴How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? ¹⁵And how shall they preach, except they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! “(Rom 10:13-15)

     Jesus gave a great promise to his disciples before departed them:

   “¹²Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”(John 14:12)

Yes! As they that hear the word of the Son received life, we also can give life through preaching the gospel of Christ given through the death and resurrection of the Son. As the life in the Son is the light of man, the life in us can give men life through shining the light. Adam was the living soul; but the last Adam is quickening spirit (1Cor 15:45). The Spirit of Christ in us is he quickening Spirit that give life to the dead. What about participating in the joy of Christ through preaching the gospel of life? Hallelujah!
