금주의 묵상: 솔로몬의 노래(아가서) 5:1-16)

본문: 고린도전서 13:1-13

제목: 사랑이 없으면  나는 아무 것도 아니다!

     하나님의 교회는 예수 그리스도의 피뿌림을 받아  유대인이나 이방인이나 성령으로 거듭난 사람들로 이루어진 유기체이다 (고전 12:13). 다시 말해서 한 성령 안에 거하는 지체들로 이루어진 공동체인 것이다. 또한 동시에 하나님의 교회는 그리스도의 몸이며 (엡 1:23) 각 지체들은 서로를 섬길 수 있도록 성령의 은사들을 주셨다 (고전 12:8-11, 롬 12:4-8). 성령의 은사를 통하여 교회 내에서 하는 일들을 사역(ministry)이라고 말하고 있는 것이다. 그러나 많은 은사들을 받아서 많은 사역을 한다고 해도 사랑이 없이 한다면 다른 사람들에게는 유익이 될지 모르나 자신에게는 아무런 유익이 되지 못한다는 것이다. 다시 말해서 일은 많이 했는데 자신에게는 아무런 유익이 되지 못한다는 것이다.

     주님으로부터 가장 많은 사랑을 받았던 사도 요한은  “너희가 처음부터 들은 말씀이 우리가 서로 사랑해야 한다는 것이기 때문이라…우리가 사망으로부터 생명으로 옮겨간 것을 아노니, 이는 우리가 형제들을 사랑하기 때문이라. 자기 형제를 사랑하지 않는 자는 사망 안에 거하느니라. 자기 형제를 미워하는 자는 누구나 살인자요, 살인자는 누구나 영원한 생명이 그의 안에 거하지 않음을 너희가 이느니라. 이로써 하나님의 사랑을 아노니, 이는 그분이 우리를 위하여 자신의 생명을 내어 놓으셨음이라. 따라서 우리도 형제들을 위하여 우리의 생명을 내어놓는 것이 마땅하도다.”(요일 3:11,14-16)라고 증거했다.

     또한 사도 요한은 하나님에게서 난 참 자녀에 대하여 증거했다: “사랑하는 자들아 우리가 서로 사랑하자. 이는 사랑이 하나님께 속한 것이기 때문이라. 사랑하는 사람은 누구나 하나님께로부터 태어났으며 또 하나님을 아느니라. 사랑하지 아니하는 자는 하나님을 알지 못하나니, 하나님은 사랑이시기 때문이라. 우리를 향한 하나님의 사랑이 이렇게 나타났으니, 곧 하나님께서 그의 독생자를 세상에 보내신 것은 우리로 그를 통하여 살게 하려 하심이라. 여기에 사랑이 있으니, 우리가 하나님을 사랑한 것이 아니요 그분이 우리를 사랑하시고 그의 아들을 우리 죄들을 위하여 화목제물로 보내신 것이라. 사랑하는 자들아, 하나님께서 이처럼 우리를 사랑하셨으니 우리도 서로 사랑하는 것이 마땅하도다.”(요일 4:7-11)

     사도 바울은 많은 은사들을 받은 고린도교회 성도들을 향하여 아주 중요한 메세지를 전하고 있다. 또한 오늘날 은사들을 사용하여 많은 사역들을이루기 위하여 여러가지 프로그램들을 만들어 열심을 내는 교회들을 향하여 아주 중요한 메세지를 전하고 있는 것이다. 아무리 멋진 말로 사람들에게 은혜를 끼치고 사람들을 위하여 앞일을 예언해 주고 성경말씀 전체를 암송할 만큼 많은 성경지식이 있고 엄청난 믿음이 있을지라도 사랑이 없으면 비록 다른 사람들에게는 유익을 줄 수 있을지 모르나 자신에게는 아무 유익이 없다는 말씀인 것이다. 심지어 자신의 모든 소유를 다 팔아 가난한 사람을 구제하고 자신의 몸을 다른 사람을 위하여 불사르게 내어줄지라도 사랑이 없으면 자신에게는 아무 유익이 없다는 것이다 다시 말해서, 사역과 사랑은 별개의 것이라는 것이다. 사역은 다른 사람들에게유익을 주는 것이며 사랑은 자신에게 유익을 주는 것이라는 진리를 말씀하고 있는 것이다. 사역을 아무리 많이 할 지라도 하나님의 인격으로 변하지 않으면 자신에게는 아무런 유익이 되지 못한다는 것이다.

      그리고 또 한 가지 아주 중요한 진리는, 사랑은 하나님께 속한 것이라는 것이다. 왜냐하면 “하나님은 사랑”(요일 4:8)이시기 때문이다. 또 한 가지 이와 관련해서 아주 중요한 사실은 하나님의 사랑이 마음 안에 거하지 않고서는 아무도 사랑할 수 없다는 사실인 것이다. 사도 바울은 이와 관련하여 이렇게 증거하고 있다: “그러므로 우리가 믿음으로 의롭게 되었으니 우리 주 예수 그리스도를 통하여 하나님과 화평을 갖느니라. 또 그분으로 인하여 우리가 서 있는 이 은혜 안에 믿음으로 나아가며 하나님의 영광의 소망을 즐거워하느니라. 이뿐만 아니라 우리가 환난들도 즐거워하나니 환난은 인내를 이루고 인내는 연단을, 연단은 소망을 이루는 줄 앎이라. 소망이 부끄럽지 않은 것은 우리에게 주신 성령에 의하여 하나님의 사랑이 우리 마음 속에 부어졌기 때문이라…..우리가 아직 죄인이었을 때 그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 죽으심으로써 하나님께서는 우리를 향한 그의 사랑을 나타내셨느니라.”(롬 5:1-5, 8)

그렇다! 성령에 의하여 하나님의 사랑이 우리 마음에 부어져야만 사랑할 수 있는 것이다. 이 사랑은 죄인들을 향한 사랑이며 아무 조건도 없는 사랑인 것이다. 아무리 엄청난 사역을 할지라도 어떤 조건 하에서 한다면 그것은 순수한 하나님의 사랑이라 할 수 없는 것이다.

     사도 바울은 갈라디아 교회 성도들에게 편지할 때에 성령의 열매에 대하여 증거할 때에 “사랑과 기쁨과 화평과 오래참음과 친절과 선함과 믿음과 온유와 절제”(갈 5:22,23)라고 말씀했는데 그는 열매들(복수)이라 말하지 않고 열매(단수)라고 말씀했다. 다시 말해서 사랑 안에 다른 여덟가지 열매들이 모두 포함되는 것을 암시했던 것이다. 결국 본문에 나타난 사랑의 성품들, 즉 오래참고 친절하며 시기하지 아니하고 자랑하지 아니하며 교만하지 아니하고 무례하게 행하지 아니하며 자신의 유익을 추구하지 아니하고 급히 성내지 아니하며 악을 생각히지 아니하고 불의를 기뻐라지 아니하며 진리를 기뻐하고 모든 것을 참으며 모든 것을 믿고 모든 것을 바라며 모든 것을 견뎌내는 것들은 성령의 열매 안에 모두 들어있는 것들인 것이다.

     그리스도께서 오실 때가 되면 예언들도 방언들도 지식도 끝나게 될 것이며 그리스도 앞에 선 우리 자신만이 남게 될 것이다. 지금은 계시된 하나님의 말씀을 통하여 그리스도를 희미하게 볼 수 잇지만 그때기 되면 얼굴과 얼굴을 마주보게 될 것이다. 그때가 되면 우리가 하던 모든 사역들도 끝이 나게 될 것이며 사랑으로 한 것만이 드러나게 될 것이다. 무조건적인 사랑에 의하여 행하여진 것만이 우리의 것으로 남아 상을 받게 될 것이다. 그러므로 하나님의 일을 하기 전에 먼저 선행되어야 될 것은 성령충만한 가운데 하나님의 사랑으로 충만하여야만 어떤 어려움 속에서도 끝까지 하나님의 사랑 안에서 사역을 하다가 그리스도께서 오실 때에 그분의 형상으로 변화되어 그분을 공중에서 만나기 위하여 부활하게 되는 것이다. 사도 요한은 이 사실에 대하여 증거했다: “사랑하는 자들아, 이제는 우리가 하나님의 아들들이라. 우리가 어떻게 될 것인지는 아직 나타나지 아니하였으나 그가 나타나시면 우리가 그와 같이 되리라는 것을 아노니, 이는 우리가 그분 그대로 그분을 볼 것이기 때문이라. 그분 안에서 이 소망을 가지는 사람은 누구나 그분이 정결하신 것처럼 자신을 정결케 하느니라.”(요일 3:2,3)

     그렇다! 자신을 정결케 할 때에 거룩하신 성령으로 충만하게 되는 것이며 온전히 그리스도의 사랑안에서 행하게 됨으로써 그 육신을 욕정과 욕심과 함께 십자가에 못박을 수 있는 것이다 (갈 5:24). 또한 그리스도께서 오실 때에 그분께 속한 자가 되어그분을 공중에서 만나기 위하여 첫째 부활에 참여하게 되는 것이다 (고전 15:23). 사도 바울은 그의 사역에 희생제물로 동참한 빌립보 교회 성도들에게 증거하며 그들을 위로했다: “우리의 시민권은 하늘에 있으므로 우리가 그곳으로부터 오실 구주이신 주 예수 그리스도를 기다리고 있으니 그가 만물을 자신에게 복종시키는 그 능력의 역사로 인하여 우리의 천한 몸을 그분의 영광스러운 몸같이 변모시키리라.”(빌 3:20,21)

      그리스도께서 우리의 죄들을 위하여 한 번 죽으심으로 우리를 온전히 가룩하게 하셨으니 (히 10:10) 이제 우리는 자신을 정결케 함으로 거룩함을 유지하여 성령께서 하나님의 사랑을 우리 마음에 부으셔서 사랑 안에서 행하면서 주님의 일을 기쁨으로 감당하다가 그리스도의 모습으로 변하게 되는 날 그분으로부터 영광스러운 보상을 받는 소망 가운데 그리스도의 날을 바라보지 않겠는가? 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Song of Solomon 5:1-16

Main scripture: 1Corinthians 13; 1-13

Subject: I’m nothing without charity

     The church of God is the organism consisting of Jews and gentiles sprinkled by the blood of Jesus Christ, and born of the Holy Spirit (1Cor. 12:13). In other word, this organism is a group with the members in the Spirit. At the same time, the church of God is the body of Christ (Eph. 1:23); and the Holy Spirit gives the gifts unto each member so that they may minister to one to another (1Cor. 12:8-11, Rom. 12:4-8). Ministries are to be done in the church through the gifts of the Spirit. But, even though many kinds of ministry are done through the gifts of the Spirit, without charity, these could benefit others, but nothing for him. In other word, nothing can benefit to him, even though he has done many ministries.

     Apostle John, most beloved disciple of Jesus testified: “For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another…..We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”(1John 3:11, 14-16)

     He also testified of the true children born of God: “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.”(1John 4:7-11)

      Apostle Paul delivered a very important message

Toward the saints of Corinthian church that had received many gifts of the Spirit. He also gave the same message toward modern churches that are doing many kinds of ministry using many kinds of programs. Even though they give graceful word of man unto the congregation; give prophesy for them; have knowledge of God memorizing the whole scriptures; have a great faith; if they do without charity, they could benefit others, but nothing for them.  Even though they bestow all their goods to feed the poor, and though they give their body to burned, and have not charity, they are nothings. In other word, ministry and charity work separately. In other word, ministry benefits others; and charity benefits them. In other word, however they may do many kinds of ministry; nothing can benefit them, unless they are not to be converted into the character of God.

     Another important truth is that love is of God, for God is love (1John 4:8). Another very important truth related to this, no one can love unless the love of God abides in the heart of man. Apostle Paul testified of this:  “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. …⁸But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”(Rom. 5;1-5, 8)

Yes! Only when the love of God is shed into our heart by the Holy Ghost, we could love others. This love is toward sinners without any condition. The love made under any condition cannot call as love.

     Apostle Paul testified of the fruit of the Spirit when he wrote to Galatians: “love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance:”(Gal. 5:22,23)

He didn’t say “fruits” (Plural), but “fruit” (singular). In other word, he implied that other eight fruits are to be included in love. All the characters of charity included in the main passage are included in the fruit of the Spirit: “Charity suffereth long, and is kind;

charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.”

     When Christ comes, prophesies, tongues and knowledge shall fail; and only we shall remain standing before Christ. Now we could see Christ darkly through the revealed word of God as a glass; but then face to face. Then all our ministries shall end; and only thing with charity shall be revealed. In other word, only ministries done with charity shall be rewarded for us. Therefore the first thing to be done before doing ministry is the fullness of the Holy Spirit. It is the way to do ministry with fullness of charity so that we may continue to do ministry in the love of God; and we may be changed to his image when he comes to meet with him in the air. Apostle John testified of this: “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. “(1John 3:2,3)

     Yes! When we purify ourselves, we are to be filled with the Holy Spirit; and we could walk in the love of Christ; and we could crucify our flesh with the affections and lusts (Gal. 5:24). Then we could be ones that are Christ’s to be the partakers of the first resurrection to see the Lord in the air (1Cor. 15:23)

Apostle Paul comforted the saints of Philippians that gave him the offerings of sacrifice saying, “For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.”(Phil. 3:20,21)

     We are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. He died for our sins (Heb. 10:10). Now we are to purify ourselves keeping his holiness. Then the love of God shall be shed abroad in our heart so that we may walk in his love doing his ministry with joy. What about looking forward the day of Christ when we shall be rewarded with glory changing ourselves as his image? Amen! Hallelujah!
