금주의 묵상: 시편 91:1-16

본문: 골로새서 3:1-25

제목: 그리스도의 몸에 어떤 옷을 입혀드렸는가?

     아브라함이 구십구 세였을 때, 주께서 그에게 나타나시어 그의 자손 중에 사내아이는 다 할례를 받을 것을 명령하셨고 그것이 하나님과의 언약이라고 말씀하셨다. 하나님께서 “너희는 너희의 포피의 살을 베어내라, 이것이 나와 너희 사이의 언약의 표가 되리라.”(창 17:1-11)고 명령하셨다. 남자의 포피를 베어낼 때에 피를 흘려야 했는 바 죄 있는 남자의 씨는 피를 흘려야 함을 미리 말씀하셨던 것이다. 다시 말해서 아담의 자손의 씨는 피를 흘려야 함을 미리 말씀하신 것이다. 히브리서를 기록한 사도 바울은 “피흘림이 없이는 죄사함이 없느니라.”(히 9:22)고 증거했다. 모든 아담의 자손들은 죄 가운데 태어나야 했기에 그 옛 사람이 피를 흘리지 않고서는 죄사함을 받을 길이 없었던 것이다.

     마침내 태초에 아버지와 성령님과 함께 천지를 창조하셨던 하나님이신 주 예수 그리스도께서 아담의 모습으로 나타나셨다. 그리고 그분께서는 친히 마지막 아담이 되셨다. 다시 말해서 그분께서 피흘리심을 통하여 모든 아담의 자손들이 죄사함을 받게 된 것이다. 결국 아브라함과 하신 할례의 언약이 주 예수 그리스도의 피흘리심과 죽으심을 통하여 완성되었던 것이다. 사도 바울은 그리스도의 할례에 대하여 증거했다: “또한 너희가 그의 안에서 손으로 하지 아니한 할례를 받았으니 곧 그리스도의 할례로 육신의 죄들의 몸을 벗어버린 것이라.”(골 2:11)

     그렇다! 이제 우리는 더 이상 아브라함의 자손들이 받아야 할 손으로 하는 할례를 받을 필요가 없게 된 것이다. 다시 말해서 남자의 포피를 더 이살 베어낼 필요가 없게 된 것이다. 주 예수 그리스도께서 우리를 대신하여 그의 몸 전체를 베어버림으로써 그의 피흘림을 통하여 우리의 죄들을 사하셨기 때문이다. 누구든지 그분을 믿어 그분 안에 들어간 사람은 그리스도께서 믿는자들의 육신의 죄들의 몸을 그들의 영혼으로부터 분리시키셨기 때문이다.   이와 관령하여 사도 바울은 본문에서 “너희가 그 행위와 함께 옛 사람(아담)을 벗어버리고 그를 창조하신 분의 형상을 따라 새 사람을 입었으니”(골 3:9,10)라고 증거하고 있는 것이다. 그리스도의 피를 믿는 사람은 누구나 그리스도의 할례를 통하여 옛 사람을 이미 벗어버린 것이다. 물리적으로는 아직까지 우리가 죄의 몸 안에 있지만 영적으로는 이 죄의 몸을 이미 벗어버리고 새 사람(그리스도)을 이미 입고 있는 것이다. 그리스도인은 누구나 그리스도로 옷 입고 있는 것이다.

     아담 안에서 태어난 사람은 누구나 아담으로 옷 입고 있는 것이다. 그러기에 아담의 몸 위에 여러가지 옷들을 걸치고 살고 있는 것이다. 아담의 몸이 입는 옷들은 음행과 부정과 사욕과 색욕과 탐심과 분노와 성냄과 악의와 하나님을 모독하는 것과 추잡한 말과 거짓말 등이라고 사도 바울은 열거하고 있다. 그러나 그리스도로 옷 입은 사람은 그리스도께서 입으시기 원하시는 옷들을 입으라고 말씀하고 있는 것이다. 사도 바울은 그리스도인들이 입어야 할 옷들을 하나 하나 추천하고 있는 것이다: “그러브로 너희는 하나님의 택함을 받은 거룩하고 사랑받은 자로서 자비로운 마음과 친절과 마음의 겸손과 온유와 오래 참음으로 옷입으라. 만일 어떤 사람에게 불평이 있으면 서로 용납하고, 서로 용서하기를 마치 그리스도께서 너희를 용서하신 것같이 너희도 그리하라. 이 모든 것 위에 사랑을 더하라. 이것이 온전함의 띠니라. 하나님의 화평이 너희 마음을 다스리게 하라. 이를 위하여 너희가 한 몸으로 부르심을 받았나니 또한 너희는 감사하는 자들이 되라. 그리스도의 말씀이 모든 지혜로 너희 안에 풍성히 거하게 하되 시와 찬송과 영적인 노래로 서로 가르치고 권면하며 너희 마음 속에서 은혜로 주께 노래하고 또 말이나 행실에 있어서나 무엇을 하든지 모든 것을 주 예수의 이름으로 하고 그를 통하여 하나님, 곧 아버지께 감사를 드리라.”(골 3:12-17)

     동시에 아내들이 남편에게 복종하고, 남편들이 아내를 사랑하고 가혹하게 대하지 말며, 자녀들이 모든 일에 부모에게 순종하며, 아비들이 자녀들을 성나게 하지 말며, 종들은 육신에 따른 주인들에게 순종하되 눈가림으로 하지 말며 하나님을 두려워 함으로 순전한 마음으로 하는 모든 일들 역시 그리스도로 옷 입은 자들이 마땅히 그리스도를 위하여 취하여야 할 옷들이라고 사도 바울은 증거하고 있다.

     그리스도의 할례를 통하여 옛 사람을 벗어버리고 새 사람을 입은 그리스도인들이 마땅히 그리스도를 위하여 이러한 옷들을 입어야 할 이유에 대하여 “우리의 생명이이신 그리스도께서 나타나실 때 그때 너희도 그와 함께 영광 가운데 나타날 것이라.”(골 3:4)고 증거하고 있는 것이다. 다시 말해서 옛 사람을 벗어버린 그리스도인들은 앞으로 부활의 날에 그리스도와 같은 모습으로 그의 신부가 되어 영광 스럽게 부활하는 그날을 마땅히 준비해야 한다는 것이다. 그리스도인들이 여전히 음행과 부정과 색욕과 탐심으로 옷 입고 있다면 그야말로 그리스도의 몸을 더럽게 하는 것이 아니겠는가. 본문에서 사도 바울은 그리스도의 몸에 거룩한 행실들을 통하여 거룩한 옷들을 입은 자들에게 유업의 상을 주실 것이라고 증거하고 있는 바, 그 이유에 대하여 거룩한 옷들을 입는 사람들은 바로 그리스도를 섬기고 있기 때문이라고 증거하고 있는 것이다. 그렇다! 그리스도인들의 거룩한 행실들은 그리스도를 아름답게 옷 입혀 드림으로써 그분을 섬기는 것이기 때문이다. 그리스도인들이 더러운 행실의 옷을 계속 입는다면 이는 그리스도의 몸에 누더기를 입혀드리는 것이 아니겠는가?

     이에 관련하여 사도 바울은 에베소 교회 성도들에게 성도들의 행위와 보응에 대하여 권면했다: “그러므로 너희는 사랑받는 자녀들로서 하나님을 따르는 자들이 되라. 그리스도께서 우리를 사랑하시어 우리를 위하여 자신을 하나님 앞에 향기로운 냄새를 내는 제물과 희생으로 드린 것같이 너희도 사랑 안에서 행하라. 음행과 온갖 더러운 것과 탐욕은 너희 가운데서 이름조차 부르지 말라. 이것이 성도들에게 합당하니라. 또 음탕함과 어리석은 말이나 농담은 합당치 아니하니 오히려 감사를 표하라. 너희가 이것을 알거니와 음행하는 자나 더러운 자나 욕심 많은 자, 곧 우상 숭배자는 누구든지 하나님과 그리스도의 왕국에서 상속받을 것이 없느니라. 아무도 너희를 헛된 말들로 속이지 못하게 하라. 이런 일들 때문에 하나님의 진노가 불순종의 자녀들 위에 임하기 때문이라. 그러므로 너희는 그들에게 동참하는 자들이 되지 말라.”(엡 5:1-7)

       사도 바울은 유대인들이 율법을 받은 자들로서 율법대로 행하지 않음으로써 하나님의 이름을 욕되게 한 것에 대하여 “율법을 자랑하는 네가 율법을 위반함으로써 하나님을 욕되게 하느냐? 기록된 바와 같이 하나님의 이름이 너희로 인하여 이방인들 가운데 모독을 당하는 도다.”(롬 2:23,24)라고 책망했다.

     마찬가지로 그리스도를 통하여 구원받아 하나님의 자녀가 된 자들이 아담이 준 죄의 몸을 벗겨내고 그리스도의 몸을 주셔서 옷입혀 주셨는데 더러운 행실로 그리스도의 몸을 더럽힌다면 구원받지 못한 세상 사람들  가운데 그리스도의 이름이 모독을 받게 하는 것이 아니겠는가?  이로 인하여 성령님께서 얼마나 고통을 받고 계시는 것일까? 또한 이는 하늘 보좌에 앉아계신 그리스도를 다시 못박는 일이 되지 않겠는가? 사도 바울은 이런 자들을 그리스도의 십자가의 원수로 행하는 자들이라고 경고했다 (빌 3:18,19)

     하나님의 교회는 그리스도의 몸이라고 사도 바울이 증거했는 바 거듭난 성도들이 모임인 교회가  거룩한 행실을 통하여 그리스도의 몸에 아름다운 옷을 입혀드림이 마땅하지 않겠는가? 그리스도인 한 사람 한 사람이 세상에 나가면 그리스도의 몸을 나타내야 하는 바 거룩하고 아름다는 행실을 통하여 그리스도의 복음을 어두운 세상에 비추어야 하지 않겠는가? 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 91:1-16

Main scripture: Colossians 3:1-25

Subject: What kinds of clothes put on the body of Christ?

     When Abram was ninety nine years old, the LORD appeared to him, and said unto him  that every man child among him should be circumcised, for it was the covenant  with him saying, “And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.”(Gen 17:11)

The blood shedding from the flesh of foreskin meant that the seed of man should shed blood, for it is sinful. In other word, the seed of Adam should shed blood. Apostle Paul, the writer of the book of Hebrews testified: “without shedding of blood is no remission.”(Heb. 9:22) All the seeds of Adam are born of sin; therefore there is no way to have remission of sin, unless the old man sheds blood.

     Finally, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Creator with the Father and the Holy Ghost appeared as the form of Adam to be the last Adam. In other word, through his blood, all the seed of Adam are to receive the remission of sin. After all, the covenant of circumcision made with Abram was made perfect through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, and his death. Apostle Paul testified of the circumcision of Christ: “In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ :”( Col. 2:11)

     Yes! We don’t have to be circumcised made by hand as the seeds of Abraham had to do. In other word, we don’t have to circumcise the flesh of our foreskin. Our Lord Jesus Christ circumcised his whole flesh to give us the remission of sin through his blood. Because Christ already separated their body of the sin of the flesh from their soul and spirit for them that entered into his body by faith. Regarding this truth, Apostle Paul testifies: “seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: “(Col. 3:9,10)

Yes! They that believe in the blood of Christ have already put off the old man through the circumcision of Christ. Even though they are still in the body of the flesh of sin physically, but they have already put on the new man (Christ) putting off the old man.

    Whosoever is born in Adam, they already are clothed with Adam. Therefore that is to be clothed with various cloths on the body of Adam. The cloths put on the body of Adam are fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, covetousness, anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication, and lie and so on as listed by Apostle Paul. But they that are clothed by Christ are asked to be clothed by the cloths that Christ want to put on as listed in the main passage:  “Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. “9Col. 3:12-17)

     Apostle Paul also listed other cloths for Christ saying, “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged. Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God;”(Col. 3:18-22)

     Apostle Paul explained about the reason why Christians should put on these cloths for they already put off the old man to be clothed by the new man: “When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.”(Col. 3:4)

In other word, the Christians that already put off the old man have to prepare the day of Christ when they are to resurrect gloriously as his bride. If Christians still are wearing the cloths such as fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, and concupiscence, and covetousness, they are not defiling the body of Christ. Apostle Paul testifies of the reward of the inheritance to be given unto them that put on holy cloths through their holiness. Yes! Their holiness is to minister to the body of Christ with beautiful cloths. If the Christian continues to put on filthy cloths, it is the way to put on the filthy cloths on the body of Christ.

     Apostle Paul encouraged the saints of Ephesians of the reward of their works saying,  “Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. “(Eph. 5:1-7)

     Apostle Paul rebuked the Jews boasting of the law, for they broke the law to dishonor their God saying, “Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God? For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.”(Rom. 2:23,24)

In the same manner, if the children of God that are saved through Christ defile the body of Christ, the name of Christ shall be dishonoured among the world. How much pain shall be unto the Holy Spirit? It shall be the way to crucify Christ again that is sitting in the throne in heaven. Apostle Paul warned of such people as the enemies of the cross of Christ (Phil. 3:18, 19)

     The church of God is the body of Christ, testified by Apostle Paul. The church, the assembly of the born again believers must clothe the body of Christ through their holiness. Every Christian is to manifest the body of Christ in the world. They have to shine the gospel of Christ to the world through their holiness. Amen. Hallelujah!
