금주의 묵상: 시편 91: 1-16

본문: 신명기 33:26-29

제목: 우리 아래에서 원수들을 멸하시는 주 에수 그리스도

     주의 종 모세가 죽기 전에 이스라엘 각 족속을 축복한 후에 마지막으로 이스라엘 모든 족속들을 축복하면서 그의 축복 기도가 끝이난다. 그는 여수룬의 하나님 같으신 분이 아무도 없다고 말한다. 여수룬이란 이스라엘을 시적으로 표현할 때 쓰는 말이다. 다시 말해서 이스라엘의 하나님 같으신 분이 없다는 말이다. 그들의 하나님께서는 그들을 도우시려고 하늘을 타시며 창공에서 그의 탁월하심을 나타내신다고 말했다. 또한 하나님께서는 그들의 영원한 피난처가 되신다고 했다. 또한 그분의 영원하신 팔이 아래(beneath)에 있어서 그들의 원수를 쫓아내시며 “그들을 멸하라.” 하실 것이라고 증거하고 있다. 또한 하나님께서 원수를 멸하실 때에 이스라엘은 안전한 곳에 거할 것이며 그들이 샘과 곡식과 포도주와 하늘의 이슬로 축복을 받아 행복하게 될 것이다. 또한 그들의 원수들은 거짓말쟁이로 드러날 것이며 이스라엘은 그들의 높은 곳들을 밟을 것이라고 예언했다.  

     모세는 하나님의 팔이 이스라엘의 아래(beneath)에 있어서 그들을 위하여 원수들과 싸울 것이라고 예언하고 있다. 하나님의 팔에 대하여 선지자 이사야는 이렇게 증거하고 있다: “우리에게 전한 것을 누가 믿었으며, 주의 팔이 누구에게 나타났느냐? 이는 그가 그 앞에서 연한 싹 같고 마른  땅에서 나온 뿌리같이 자랄 것이며, 그는 모양도 우아함도 없으시니 우리가 볼 때에 그를 흠모할 아름다움도 없음이라. 그는 사람들에게 멸시받고 거부되었으며 슬픔의 사람이요 질고에 익숙한 사람이라. 우리가 우리의 얼굴을 그로부터 숨긴 것같이 그는 멸시를 받았고 우리는 그를 존중하지 아니하였도다. 실로 그가 우리의 질고를 지고 우리의 슬픔을 지었는데도 우리는 그가 형벌을 받아 하나님께 맞으며 고난당한 줄로 생각하였도다. 그러나 그는 우리의 허물로 인하여 상처를 입었고 그는 우리의 죄악으로 인하여 상하였도다. 우리의 화평을 위한 징계가 그에게 내려졌고, 그가 맞은 채찍으로 우리가 치유되었도다.”(사 53: 1-5)

     그렇다! 주 여호와 하나님께서 사람처럼 팔을 가지고 마침내 나타나셨다. 창조주 하나님께서 육신으로 나타나신 것이다. 그의 이름은 “예수”이시다. 그분은 자기 백성 이스라엘을 그들의 죄들에서 구원하실 메시야이시다 (마 1:21). 그러나 그분께서는 이스라엘 백성의 아래(beneath)에 계셨기 때문에 그들은 그분을 알아 볼 수 없었으며 그들의 원수들과 싸우실 그들의 메시야를 멸시하고 거부하며 죽인 것이다.

     그러나 하나님의 팔이신 주 예수 그리스도께서는 모세를 통하여 약속하신대로 아마겟돈에서 이스라엘이 모든 민족들로부터 공격을 당할 때에 영원하신 팔로 다시 나타나실 것이다. 선지자 요엘은 아마겟돈에서의 주의 군대에 대하여 예언했다: “너희는 시온에서 나팔을 불고 내 거룩한 산에서 경고의 소리를 내어 그 땅의 모든 거민들로 떨게 하라. 이는 주의 날이 오며 그 날이 가까움이라. 흑암과 암영의 날, 구름과 짙은 어두움의 날이 산들 위에 펼쳐진 아침과 같으니 많고 강한 사람들이라. 이 같은 일은 전에도 없었고, 또 이후, 곧 많은 세대들의 연수에까지도 다시 없으리라. 불이 그들 앞에서 삼키며 그들 뒤에는 화염이 불타는도다. 그 땅은 그들 앞에서는 에덴의 동산 같으나 그들 뒤에는 황량한 광야 같으니, 정녕, 어떤 것도 그들을 피하지 못하리라. 그들의 모양은 말들의 모양같고 그들은 마치 기병들처럼 달리리로다. 그들이 뛰는 것은 산꼭대기들에 있는 병거들의 소리같고, 그루터기를 삼키는 불꽃 소리와도 같으며, 전열에 배치된 강한 백성 같으리라. 그들의 얼굴 앞에서 백성은 심하게 아픔을 당할 것이며 모든 얼굴들은 새까맣게 되리라. 그들은 용사들같이 달릴 것이며 그들은 전사들같이 성벽을 기어오를 것이요, 그들은 각기 자기의 길로 행군할 것이나 그들은 그 대열을 흩뜨리지 아니하리라. 한 사람이 다른 사람을 밀치지도 않을 것이며, 그들은 각기 자기 길로 걸으리라. 그들은 칼 위에 쓰러져도 상처를 입지 아니하리라. 그들은 성읍 안에서 이리저리 달릴 것이며, 그들은 성벽 위를 달릴 것이요 집들 위를 기어오르며 그들은 도둑처럼 창문들을 통해 안으로 들어가리라. 땅이 그들 앞에서 흔들리며 하늘들이 떨고 해와 달이 어두워지며 별들이 그들의 빛을  거두리라. 주께서 그의 군대 앞에서 그의 음성을 발하시리니, 이는 그의 진영이 매우 크고 그의 말씀을 실행하는 분은 강하심이라. 주의 날이 위대하고 심히 두려우니 누가 그것을 견뎌낼 수 있으리요?”(욜 2:1-11)

     선지자 스카랴도 주의 팔이 나타나는 주의 날에 대하여 에언했다: “보라, 주의 날이 오나니, 네 약탈물이 네 가운데서 나뉘리라. 내가 모든 민족들을 모아 예루살렘을 대적하여 싸우게 하리라. 성읍은 함락되고 집들은 강탈당하며 여자들은 욕을 당하고, 성읍의 절반이 사로잡혀갈 것이나, 백성의 나머지는 성읍에서 끊어지지 아니하리라. 그때에 주께서 나가 그 민족들을 대적하여 싸우시리니, 전쟁의 날에 싸우셨을 때처럼 하시리라.”(슥 14;1-3)

     사도 요한도 주의 날에 온 세상의 왕들이 아마겟돈으로 모이는 것을 보고 증거했다: “여섯째 천사가 자기 호리병을 큰 강 유프라테스에 쏟으니 강물이 말라버려서 동방의 왕들의 길이 예비되더라. 또 내가 보니, 개구리 같은 세 영이 용의 입과 짐승의 입과 거짓 선지자의 입에서 나오는데 그들은 기적들을 행하는 마귀들의 영이라. 그 영들은 이 땅과 온 세상의 왕들에게로 가서 전능하신 하나님의 위대한 날의 전쟁을 위하여 그 왕들을 모으리라. 보라, 내가 도둑같이 오리니 깨어 있어 자기 옷을 지켜서 벗은 채로 다니지 아니하고, 사람들에게 자기 수치를 보이지 않는 자는 복이 있도다. 그가 그들을 히브리어로 아마겟돈이라고 하는 곳으로 모으더라.”(계 16:12-16)

     그렇다! 하나님께서는 이스라엘의 영원한 팔이 되셔서 그들을 위하여 싸우시며 그들의 원수를 멸하시며 영원한 피난처가 되실 것이다. 하나님의 영원하신 팔로 나타나신 주 예수 그리스도께서는 이스라엘뿐만 아니라. 유대인이나 이방인이나 회개하여 그분을 믿어 영접한 사람들의 주와 구세주가 되셔서 그들 아래에 항상 계시면서 원수들을 쫓아내시면서 “그들을 멸하라.” 하신다. 그러나 그분께서는 그의 신부들이 볼 수 없는 그들 아래에 계신다. 다시 말해서 평소에는 볼 수 없는 것이다. 그분께서는 아래(beneath)쪽으로 밀착해 있으시기 때문에 그들이 아래로 떨어지기 전에는 볼 수도 느낄 수도 없는 것이다. 그러나 원수 마귀로부터 공격을 당하여 낙심하여 아래로 떨어질 때마다 주님께서는 하나님의 영원한 팔이 되셔서 그들의 원수들을 쫓아내시며 “그들을 멸하라.” 하면서 호통을 치시는 것이다.

     사도 바울은 주 예수 그리스도를 믿음으로 거듭난 사람들의 축복에 대하여 증거했다: “아브라함이 하나님을 믿으니 그것이 그에게 의로 여겨졌다 함과 같으니라. 그러므로 너희는 믿음으로 난 사람들이 아브라함의 자손임을 알라. 성경은 하나님께사 이방인들을 믿음으로 말미암아 의롭게 하실 것을 미리 보고 먼저 아브라함에게 복음을 전파하기를 ‘네 안에서 모든 민족이 복을 받으리라.’고 하엿느니라. 그러므로 믿음으로 난 사람들은 믿음이 있는 아브라함과 더불어 복을 받느니라.”(갈 3:6-9)

     그렇다! 주 예수 그리스도를 믿어 구원받은 모든 사람은 오늘 본문에서 모세가 이스라엘 백성들을 축복한 모든 축복을 함께 받는 것이다. 하나님의 영원하신 팔로 나타나신 주 예수 그리스도의 팔이 우리 아래에 항상 있음을 잊지 말자! 그분께서는 우리 앞에서 밤낮으로 원수들을 쫓아내시면서 “그들을 멸하라!”하실 때에 천사들이 우리의 모든 길에서 우리를 지킬 것이다. 우리 주님은 우리의 영원하신 피난처시며 요새시며, 하나님이시니 그분만을 신뢰할 때에 어떠한 재앙도 닥치지 못하며 어떠한 전염병도 우리 장막에 가까이 오지 못할 것이다. 우리 주님의 천사들이 우리의 모든 길에서 우리를 지킬 것이다. 뿐만 아니라 우리가 독사를 밟으며, 젊은 사자와 용도 발로 짓밟을 것이다. 고난 중에 주님께서 우리와 함께 하실 것이다(시 91편). 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: psalms 91:1-16

Main scripture: Deuteronomy 33:26-29

Subject: The Lord Jesus Christ destroys our enemy beneath us

     Before Moses, the servant of the Lord died, he blessed each tribe of Israel; afterwards he blessed all the tribes of Israel once again. He testified that there is none like unto the God of Jeshurun. Jeshurun is the terminology of Israel in poems. In other word, there is none like unto God of Israel. God of Israel rides upon the heaven in thy help, and in his excellency on the sky. And the eternal God is their refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before them, and shall say destroy them. When God destroy the enemy, Israel then shall dwell in safety alone: the fountain of Jacob shall be upon a land of corn and wine; also his heavens shall drop down dew. Then their enemies shall be found liars unto them; and they shall tread upon their high places.

     Moses prophesized, the arms of God is underneath Israel to fight with their enemies. Prophet Isaiah prophesized of the arm of God: “Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. “(Isa. 53:1-5)

     Yes! The Lord God appeared with arms as man. The God the Creator manifested in flesh in the name of Jesus. He is the Messiah that is to save his people Israel from their sins (Matt. 1:21). He was underneath the people of Israel; so they couldn’t see him. They despised and rejected the Messiah unto death that is to destroy their enemies.

     But the Lord Jesus Christ that is the arm of God shall appear in the form of the eternal arms of God when Israel is attacked in Armageddon as promised through Moses. Prophet Joel also prophesizes of the army of the LORD in Armageddon:“Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.

A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them. The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run. Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array. Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness. They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks: Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded. They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief. The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?”(Joel 2:1-11)

     Prophet Zechariah also testified of the Day of the Lord when the arm of the Lord appears: “Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. “(Zech. 14:1-3)

      Testified of the kings of the earth that gather together  to the battle of Armageddon in the day of the Lord:  “And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon. “(Rev. 16:12-16)

     Yes! God shall be the eternal refuge for Israel being their eternal arm to destroy their enemies. The Lord Jesus Christ appeared as the eternal arm of God to destroy the enemies for the believers that repent and receive him as the Lord and Savior whether they are Jew or Gentile. But he is underneath his brides so that they may not see him peaceful days. Because he is just underneath them so that they may not able to see or feel him unless they fall down. But whenever they are discouraged to fall down being attacked by the Devil, the Lord Jesus becomes their eternal arm, and shouts unto their enemies, and cast them out saying, “Destroy them!”

     Apostle Paul testified of the blessing for them that are born again through the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ: “Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.”(Gal. 3:6-9)

     Yes! They that that believe to be saved are to be blessed as the people of Israel in the same way mentioned in the main passage. Let us not forget that the arm of the Lord Jesus Christ that is the eternal arm of God always is underneath us! He shall cast out our enemies day and night saying, “Destroy them!” then his angels shall protect us in all our ways. Our Lord Jesus Christ is our eternal refuge and fortress and our God. When we trust in him, any plague shall not come nigh our dwelling. The angels of our Lord shall charge over us, to keep us in all our ways. More than this, we shall tread upon the lion and adder; the young lion and the dragon. He shall be with us in trouble (Ps. 91). Amen! Hallelujah!
