금주의 묵상: 시편 16:1-11

본문: 누가복음 16:19-31

제목: 예수께서 말씀하신 천국 과 지옥

     과학자나 의사나 그 어떤 사람도 육신이 죽은 후의 삶을 알 수 있는 사람은 한 사람도 없다. 다만 생과 사를 주관하시는 하나님만이 우리에게 말씀하실 수 있는 것이다. 사람들이 사후의 삶에 대하여 부인한다 해도 하나님께서는 전혀 개의치 않으신다.

     오늘 이름 없는 어떤 부자와 나사로라 하는 이름을 가진 거지에 대하여 예수께서 말씀하신다.

     둘 다 죽었는데, 거지 나사로는 천사들이 그를 아브라함의 품으로 옯겼으며, 그 부자는 지옥에 떨어져 고통받고 있다.

     지옥에 있는 부자가 지옥에서 고통 중에 눈을 들어 아브라함의 품에 있는 나사로를 본다. 또한 지옥과 아브라함의 품 사이에는 커다란 구렁이 있어 서로 간에 건널 수 없게 되어 있다.

     그 두 사람은 모두 장사되어 몸이 무덤에서 썩었음에도 불구하고 볼 수 있는 눈을 가지고 있다.

     또한 그 부자가  “아버지 아브라함이여, 저를 불쌍히 여기셔서 나사로를 보내시어 그가 자기 손가락 끝에 물을 적셔 내 혀를 식히게 하소서. 내가 이 불꽃 가운데서 고통을 받고 있나이다.”라고  소리질러 말한다.

     그 부자는 눈 뿐만 아니라 입과 혀도 가지고 있다. 이는 분명히 그의 혼이 말하고 있다. 사도 베드로는 구원에 대하여 증거할 때, “이는 믿음의 결과, 곧 너희 혼들의 구원을 받음이라.”(벧전 1:9)고 말씀했다.

   그러므로 사람의 혼은 몸 안에 존재하는 보이지 않는 몸이다.

     그렇다면 거지 나사로가 간 아브라함의 품은 어떤 곳인가?

     성경은 다윗이 죽었을 때에 “다윗이 그의 조상들과 함께 잠들어 다윗 성읍에  묻히니라.” (왕상 2:10)고 증거하고 있다. 그가 죽었다고 말씀하지 않고 잠들었다고 말씀하고 있다.

     성경에서 구원받은 사람들의 육신이 죽었을 때 잠자는 것으로 말씀하고 있다: “보라, 내가 너희에게 한 가지 신비를 말하노니 우리가 다 잠잘 것이 아니요 오히려 우리가 모두 변화될 것이니.”(고전 15:51)

“우리가 주의 말씀으로 너희에게 이것을 말하노니 주께서 오실 때까지 살아남아 있는 우리가 잠들어 있는 자들 보다 결단코 앞서지 못하리라.”(살전 4:15)

     아브라함의 품은 아브라함의 자손들이 죽어서 가는 곳이다. 다시 말해서 구약에서 구원받은 사람들이 죽어서 가는 곳을 말하는 것이다.  

     예수께서 부활하신 후에 일어난 일에 대하여 성경은 이렇게 증거하고 있다: “무덤들이 열리며 잠들었던 많은 성도들의 몸이 일어났으며 주께서 부활하신 후에 무덤에서 나와 거룩한 도성으로 들어가 많은 사람들에게 나타나더라.”(마 27:52,53)

     이 잠들었던 많은 성도들의 몸이 부활한 것에 대하여 사도 바울은 “그러나 이제 그리스도께서 죽은 자들로부터 살아나셔서 잠들었던 자들의 첫열매들이 되셨느니라.”(고전 15:20)고 증거했다. “첫열매들”(복수)이라 말함으로써 첫 열매이신 그리스도와 함께 부활한 많은 사람들이 있었음을 증거하고 있는 것이다.

     또한 사도 바울은 부활한 구약 성도들에 대해 에베소 교회 성도들에게 증거했다: “’그(예수님)가 올라가실 때에 사로잡힌 자를 사로잡아갔고 사람들에게는 은사들을 주셨다.’고 하셨느니라. 따라서 그가 올라가셨다는 것은 그가 땅의 더 낮은 부분들로 먼저 내려가셨다는 것이 아니고 무엇이냐? 내려가셨던 그가 모든 하늘들 위로 올라가신 바로 그분이니 그가 모든 것을 충만케 하시려 함이니라.”(엡 4:8-10)

     그렇다면, 땅의 더 낮은 부분들은 어떤 곳인가?

     첫 번째는, 지옥이다. 이에 대하여 다윗 왕은 이렇게 증거했다: “이는 주께서 내 혼을 지옥에 버려두지 아니하시며 주의 거룩하신 분으로 썩어짐을 보지 않게 하실 것임이니이다.”(시 16:10)

     사도 베드로도 성령 안에서 다윗의 예언을 인용하여 증거했다: “그(다윗)가 앞을 미리 내다 봄으로 그리스도의 부활에 관하여 말한 것은, 주(예수님)의 혼이 지옥에 버려지지 아니하였으며, 또 주(예수님)의 육신도 썩어짐을 보지 아니하였다는 것이라.”(행 2:31)

    두 번째는, 아브라함의 품이다. 예수께서 그곳에 가셔서 많은 구약성도들을 데리고 나오셔서 부활하셨다. 또한 그분께서 죽으신 후에 바로 그날 그곳으로 가실 것에 대하여 주님의 이름을 부르고 회심한 강도에게 말씀하셨다:  “진실로 내가 너에게 말하노니, 오늘 네가 나와 함께 낙원에  있으리라.’(눅 23:43)

     주님께서는 죽으신 바로 그날 아브라함의 품인 낙원으로 가실 것을 말씀하시면서 그 강도를 함께 데려가실 것을 말씀하셨다.

     아브라함의 품인 낙원과 지옥은 커다란 구렁을 마주보며 땅 속 보이지 않는 음부에 함께 있다. 그러나 예수께서 부활하신 후에는 아브라함의 품, 즉 낙원에 있는 모든 구약성도들을 셋째 하늘로 데려가셨다. 다시 말해서 땅 속에 있었던 낙원은 이제 셋째 하늘 주님의 면전에 있다.

     사도 바울은 셋째 하늘에 올라갔던 일을 증거했다: 내가 십사 년 전에 그리스도 안에서 한 사람을 알았는데 (그가 몸 안에 있었는지 나는 말할 수 없고 몸 밖에 있었는지 나는 말할 수 없지만,) 그 사람이 셋째 하늘로 끌려 올라갔느니라…..그가 낙원으로 끌려올라가서 말로 다 설명할 수 없는 말을 들었는데 그것은 사람들에게 말하도록 허락되지 않은 것이로다.”(고후 12:2,4)

     그리스도께서  부활 승천하신 후 성령께서 오신 때부터는 그리스도 안에서 죽은 자들은 더이상 땅 속에 있는 아브라함의 품으로 갈 필요가 없이 바로 그 영과 혼이 하늘에 있는 아브라함의 품이며 낙원인 셋째 하늘에 있는 주 예수 그리스도의 품으로 가는 것이다.

     그러나 구원받지 못하고 죽는 사람은 여전히 부자가 있는 지옥으로 가는 것이다. 그 부자는 지금까지 고통 속에 있는 것이다.

     그러나 주님께서 오셔서 세상을 심판하시고 천년 동안 통치하신 후에 지옥에 있는 모든 사람들을 불못으로 던지게 될 것이다. 이때에 사망까지도 불못에 던지실 것이다. 사망이 물못에 던져질 때에 아담이 범죄한 이후 사망이 왕노릇하던 이 땅에는 더이상 사망이 존재하지 못하고 영원히 멸망하게 될 것이다. 사도 바울은 이에 대해 증거했다: “주께서 모든 원수를 자기 발 아래 두실 때까지 통치하셔야 하리니 멸망받게 될 마지막 원수는 사망이라.”(고전 15:25,26)

     때가 되어 주님께서 주안에서 잠든 자들의 몸을 부활하게 하시려고 공중에 나타나실 때에 “하나님께서는 예수 안에서 잠든 자들도 그와 함께 데리고 오시리라.”(살전 4:14) 다시 말해서 그리스도 안에서 몸이 무덤에서 잠들어 자들의 영혼을 데리고 오셔서 그들의 몸을 부활하게 하실 것이다. 그리하여 그들이 영화로운 몸을 입고 주님과 함께 영원히 통치하게 될 것이다. 그리하여 이러한 말로 서로 위로하라고 사도 바울은 데살로니가 교회 성도들에게 권면했다.

     이 부활의 소망 외에 그 어떤 것도, 어떤 사람도 우리를 위로할 수 없다. 부활의 소망을 가진 자만이 이 험한 세상을 성령의 위로 안에서 새 하늘과 새 땅과 새 예루살렘을을 바라보면서(계 21:1)승리의 삶을 살 수 있는 것이다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 16:1-11

Main scripture: Luke 16:19-31

Subject: Heaven and hell spoken by Jesus

     Scientists, medical doctors or anyone else cannot know the life beyond death.  Only God that rule over life and death knows. Even though men deny of the life after death, God never care about them.

      Jesus speaks of a rich man without name and a beggar in the name of Lazarus.

     Both of them died; Lazarus, the beggar was carried by the angels, and the rich man is in hell in torments.

     The rich man in hell lifts up his eyes, being in torments, and sees Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom. There is a great gulf fixed between hell and the bosom of Abraham so that they cannot pass each other.

     They have eyes even after their bodies are corrupted after they were buried.

     The rich man cried and said, “Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.”

     The rich man has not only eyes but also mouth and tongue. His soul must be speaking. Apostle Peter testified of salvation: “Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.” (1Pet. 1:9)

     Therefore the soul of man is invisible body within the body of flesh.

     Then, where is the bosom of Abraham where Lazarus went after death?

     The scripture testifies: ^“So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.”(1King 2:110)

David was sleeping not dead.

     Scriptures testify of them that sleep when the believers died: “Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,” (1Cor. 15:51)

“For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.”(1Thes. 4:15)

    The children of Abraham went to the bosom of Abraham after they dies. In other word, it is the place where the saint of Old Testament went after they died.

     The scripture testifies of the things that happened after Jesus resurrected: “And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. “(Matt. 27:52, 53)

    Apostle Paul testified of the resurrection of the saints that were sleeping: “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.”(1Cor. 15:20)

Saying the ‘first fruits’, he testified of many saints that rose again with Jesus that was the first fruit.

     Apostle Paul testified of the saints of Old Testament that resurrected with Jesus: “When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)”(Eph. 4:8-10)

Then, where is the lower part of the earth?

     The first one is the hell. King David testified of the hell: “For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.”(Ps. 16:10)

     Apostle Peter also testified in the Spirit quoting the prophecy of King David: “He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.”(Acts 2:31)

     The second one is the bosom of Abraham. Jesus went down there, and took the saints of Old Testament, and rose again with them. Jesus spoke the thief that repented calling the Lord of the paradise that is the bosom of Abraham where he was going to go on the day when he died: “Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.”(Luke 23:43)

     On the very day when Jesus died, he promised the thief to take him to the Paradise that is the bosom of Abraham.

     The paradise that is the bosom of Abraham, and the hell were under the earth together with dark place divided with a great gulf fixed. But after Jesus resurrected, he took all the saints in the paradise to the third heaven. In other word, the paradise that was under the earth is now before the Lord in the third heaven.

     Apostle Paul testified of the third heaven: “I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven….   ⁴How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.”(2Cor.12:2, 4)

     Since the Holy Ghost came to the world after Jesus rose again and lifted to heaven, the dead in Christ doesn’t have to go to the bosom of Abraham under the earth, but they go to the bosom of Jesus Christ that is the bosom of Abraham, the paradise in the third heaven.

     But they that are not saved and die are going to the hell where the rich man still is in torments.

     But after Jesus Christ come to the earth and judge the world and reign for thousand years in the earth, all men in the hell shall be cast into the lake of fire. At the same time, death also shall be cast into the lake of fire.  When death is to be cast into the lake of fire, there shall not be death in the earth that has been reigning since Adam sinned. In other word, death shall be destroyed forever. Apostle Paul testified: “For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. “(1Cor. 16:25, 26)

     When the time is fulfilled, and the Lord Jesus appears in the air to give resurrection to the body that are sleeping in Christ, “….even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.”(1Thes. 4:14)

In other word, he will take the spirit and soul of them that sleep in Christ, and make their body to be resurrected. Then they shall put on glorified body to reign with Christ forever. Therefore, Apostle Paul encouraged the saints of Thessalonians to comfort one another with these words.

     Anything else and anyone else except the hope of resurrection cannot comfort us. Only they that have the hope of resurrection can have victorious life in the comfort of the Holy Ghost looking forward a new heaven, a new earth, and New Jerusalem. Amen! Hallelujah!
