금주의 묵상: 시편 19:1-14

본문: 마태복음 18:3

제목: 당신은 회심하였는가?

      “천국에서는 누가 가장 크니이까?”라고 제자들이 물었을 때 예수께서는 그 질문에 대답하시지 않고 어떤 자가 천국에 들어갈 자들인지에 관해 말씀하셨다. 오늘날에도 많은 그리스도인들도 천국에서 큰자가 되려고 많은 일들을 하는 것을 본다. 그러나 천국에 들어가지도 못한 사람이 천국에서 큰자가 되려 한다면 평생을 헛 수고하게 될 것이다.

     주님께서는 천국에 들어갈 사람의 기준에 관하여 분명하게 말씀하신다. 첫째는, 회심하여야 하며, 둘째는 어린아이들과 같이 되어야 한는 것이다. 니고데모라 하는 바리새인이며 유대인의 관원이 밤에 예수님을 찾아와서 “랍비여, 우리는 당신이 하나님께로부터 오신 선생이신 줄을 아나이다. 이는 하나님께서 함께하지 아니하시면 아무도 당신이 행하시는 이런 기적들을 행할 수 없기 때문이니이다.”(요 3:2)라고 말하면서 자신이 이미 천국에 들어간 자처럼 말했을 때, 예수께서는 “진실로 진실로 내가 너에게 말하노니, 사람이 거듭나지 아니하면 하나님 나라를 볼 수 없느니라…..사람이 물과 성령으로 태어나지 아니하면 하나님의 나라에 들어갈 수 없느니라.”(요 3:3,5)고 말씀하셨다.

     예수께서는 회심에 대하여 물과 성령으로 태어나는 것으로 말씀하신 것이다. 오래전 다윗은 성령 안에서 증거했다:

“주의 율법은 완전하여 혼을 회심시키며. 주의 증거는 확실하여 우매한 자를 현명하게 만들고.”(시 19:7)

성령께서는 혼이 회심하여야 함을 미리 말씀하신 것이다. 하나님께서 사람을 만드셨을 때 살아있는 혼으로 만드셨다(창 2:7). 그러므로 사람이 천국에 들어가기 위해서는 그 혼이 회심해야 하는 것이다. 그리고 혼이 회심하기 위해서는 완전하신 하나님의 율법을 통하여 가능한 것이다. 모든 혼들이 율법을 들을 때에 자신이 비참한 죄인임을 비로소 깨달을 수 있는 것이다. 그러나 듣기는 들어도 깨닫지 못하면 회심할 수 없는 것이다.

     이스라엘 백성들의 마음이 완악함으로 무디어졌을 때 하나님께서 이사야 선지자를 그들에게 보내시면서 말씀하셨다:

“이 백성에게 말하기를 ‘참으로 너희가 들으나 깨닫지 못할 것이요, 참으로 너희가 보나 알지 못하리라.’하라. 이 백성의 마음으로 살찌게 하고, 그들의 귀로 둔해지게 하며, 그들의 눈으로 감기게 하라. 그리하여 그들이 눈으로 보지 못하고, 귀로 듣지 못하며, 마음으로 깨닫지 못하게 하며, 회심하지도 못하고, 치유받지도 못하게 하라.”(사 6:9,10)

     그렇다! 사람이 악한 마음으로 마음이 무디어져 있을 때 하나님의 율법의 말씀을 들어도 깨닫지 못하게 되어 회심하지 못하게 되는 것이다. 예수께서 씨뿌리는 비유를 통하여 말씀하신 것처럼, 길가 같이 단단한 마음, 돌짝밭 같은 마음 그리고 가시떨기 같은 이 세상 염려와 재물의 미혹으로 가득찬 마음으로는 아무리 말씀을 들어도 보아도 깨닫지도 못하고 회심하지도 못하는 것이다. 그러므로 오늘날에도 성령께서는 “미리 아신 자들을 자기 아들의 형상과 일치하게 하시려고 또한 예정하셨으니 이는 그를 많은 형제 가운데서 첫태생이 되게하려 하심이니라. 그리하여 예정하신 이들을 또한 부르시고 부르신 이들을 의롭게 하시고 의롭게 하신 이들을 또한 영화롭게 하셨느니라.”(롬 8:29,30)고 사도 바울을 통해 말씀하셨다.

     사람이 회심할 때에 그 즉시 천국에 들어가는 것이다. 천국은 죽어서 가는 것이 아니기 때문이다. 다시 말해서 사람이 회심하게 될 때에 이 죄악 세상으로부터 나와서 하나님의 왕국으로 들어가게 되는 것이다. 이렇게 회심하여 하나님의 왕국에 들어간 사람은 그가 본 하나님의 왕국과 예수 그리스도가 만왕의 왕이시며 만주의 주이심을 증거하게되는 것이다. 증거란 본 것을 말하는 것이지 지식을 전하는 것이 아니기 때문이다. 사도 바울은 회심하기 전에는 왕이신 에수 그리스도를 핍박하는 자였지만 회심하자마자 그는 곧바로 회당에 들어가 그리스도를 전파하여 그분이 하나님의 아들이라고 증거했다 (행 9:20) 그렇다! 누구든지 하나님의 아들이신 예수 그리스도를 만날 때에 죄인임을 깨닫고 회개하여 회심하게 되며 회심하게 될 때에 하나님의 나라 안에서 성령으로 다시 태어나게 되는 것이다.

     사도 베드로는 에수께서 붙잡혀 가시기 전에 “주여, 주와 함께라면 감옥이나 죽음에까지라도 가기로 준비되어 있나이다.”라고 고백하였지만, 주님께서는 “베드로야, 내가 너에게 말하노니 오늘 닭이 울기 전에, 네가 나를 안다는 사실을 세 번 부인하리라.”고 말씀하셨다.

주님께서는 그 당시 베드로가 회심하지 않았음을 아셨던 것이다. 그러기에 주님께서는 미리 베드로에게 말씀하셨다:

“시몬아, 시몬아, 보라, 사탄이 너희를 밀처럼 키질하려고 찾았느니라. 그러나 네 믿음이 약해지지 않도록 내가 너를 위하여 기도하였으니, 네가 회심하게 되면 네 형제들을 굳게 하라.”(눅 22:31,32)

     베드로는 부활하신 주님을 만나서 그가 세 번 주님을 부인한 죄를 용서받은 후에 회심하게 되었다. 주님께서는 베드로에게 “요나의 아들 시몬아, 네가 이 사람들보다 나를 더 사랑하느냐?”(요 21:15)라고 세 번 물으셨다. 드디어 성령께서 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 오신 오순절 날에 유대인들을 두려워하여 주님을 세 번이나 부인했던 베드로는 드디어 회심하여 성령으로 거듭나서 성령으로 충만하여 열한 사도와 함께 일어나서 목소리를 높여 그들에게 말하기를

“너희 유대 사람들과 예루살렘에 거하는 모든 사람들아, 이 일을 너희에게 알게 하겠으니 내 말에 경청허라…..그러므로 이스라엘의 온 집이 분명히 알 것은, 너희가 십자가에 못박은 이 예수를 하나님께서 주와 그리스도가 되게 하신 것이라…..너희는 이 사악한 세대로부터 구원을 받으라”고 외치면서 예수 그리스도를 증거했던 것이다 (행 2:14-40)

     사도 다도는 회심, 즉 중생(重生)에 대하여 증거했다:

“우리도 한때는 어리석고 복종치 아니하며, 미혹당하고, 여러가지 욕심과 쾌락에 종노릇 하며, 악과 시기 속에서 살고, 가증스러우며 서로 증오하는 자였으나 그후 인간을 향한 구주하나님의 인자하심과 사랑이 나타나서, 우리가 행한 의로운 행위에 의하지 않고 그의 자비하심에 따라 중생의 씻음과 성령의 새롭게 하심으로 우리를 구원하셨으니 이 성령을 예수 그리스도 우리 구주를 통하여 부어 주셨느니라. 이는 우리가 그의 은혜로 인하여 의롭게 되어 영원한 생명의 소망을 따라 상속자들이 되게 하려 하심이라.”(딛 3:3-7)

     디도는 중생에 대하여 옛 사람은 완전히 죽어 없어지고 성령 안에서 다시 태어난 새로운 피조물이 되는 것을 말씀한 것이다. 사도 바울도 “그러므로 누구든지 그리스도 안에 있으면 새로운 피조물이라. 옛것들은 지나갔으니, 보라, 모든 것이 새롭게 되었도다.”(고후 5:17)라고 증거함으로써 회심하여 성령으로 다시 태어난 사람은 이 세상에서 사망 신고를 한 사람처럼 하나님의 나라 안에서 어린아이처럼 영적인 우유와 여러가지 영적인 음식을 말씀 안에서 먹으며 새로운 삶을 시작하게 되는 것이다.

     수많은 믿음의 사람들에 대하여 사도 바울은 히브리인 그리스도인들에게 증거했다:

 “그들은 믿음을 통하여 왕국들을 정복하기도 하고 의를 이루기도 하며, 외적들을 패주시키기도 하며 여자들은 그들의 죽은 자들을 다시 살려 받기도 하고 어떤 사람들은 고문을 당하면서도 굳이 면하려 하지 않았으니, 이는 그들이 더 좋은 부활을 얻고자 함이라. 또 어떤 사람들은 잔혹한 조롱과 채찍질의 시련도 받았고, 더욱이 결박당하고 감옥에도 갇혔으며 돌로 맞고, 톱으로 켜지고, 시험을 당하고, 칼로 살해되었으며, 양의 가죽과 염소의 가죽을 쓴채 유리하며 궁핍과 고난과 학대를 당했느니라. 세상은 그들이 살만한 데가 못 되었으므로 그들은 광야와 산속과 동굴과 토굴에서 유리하였느니라.”(히 11:33-38)

     그렇다! 회심하여 하나님의 나라인 천국에 들어간 사람은 더 이상 이 세상에서 사는 사람이 아니고 잠깐 기거하는 자라고 사도 베드로는 증거했다:

“사랑하는 자들아, 타국인 같고 순레자 같은 너희에게 권고하노니 혼을 거슬러 싸우는 육신의 정욕을 멀리 하라.”(벧전 2:11) 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 19:1-14

Main scripture: Matthew 18:3

Subject: Are you converted ?

     Disciples of Jesus asked him saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” Jesus not answered their question, and instead, he spoke to them what kind of person can enter into the kingdom of heaven. Nowadays, many Christians are trying to do many kinds of work to be great ones in the kingdom of heaven. But all their works shall be in vain, if they cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven.

     The Lord Jesus declared very clearly what kind of person can enter into the kingdom of heaven. Firstly, man should be converted. Secondly, they should be as little children. Nicodemus, a Pharisees and a ruler of Israel visited Jesus in a night, and said to him:

“Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.”(John 3:2)

He thought himself as if he already had entered into the kingdom of heaven. Then, Jesus spoke to him:

“Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God……    ⁵Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”(John 3:3, 5)

     Jesus explained to him of the conversion as born of water and of the Spirit: Long time ago King David testified in the Holy Ghost:

“The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.”(Ps. 19:7)

Holy Ghost foretold of the conversion of soul. God made the man as a living soul (Gen. 2:7) Therefore man’s soul should be converted to enter into the kingdom of heaven. And the soul could be converted through the perfect law of God. When the soul of man hears the law of God, he could understand himself as a miserable sinner. But the soul cannot understand the law of God, he cannot be converted.

       When the heart of the people of Israel became wicked and heavy, the LORD God called prophet Isaiah to go and speak to them:

“Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed. “(Isa. 6:9, 10)

     Yea! When the heart of man is wicked and heavy, he cannot understand the law of God so that he cannot be converted. As Jesus explained through the parable of a sower, hardened heart as path, stony heart, and thorny heart that is filled with the care of this world and the deceitfulness of riches cannot understand the word of God so that they cannot be converted. The Holy Ghost spoke through Apostle Paul:

“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.”(Rom. 8:29, 30)

     When a man is converted, he enters into the kingdom of heaven. The kingdom of heaven is not the place when man dies. In other word, when man is converted, he comes out of the world to enter into the kingdom of God. Then he begins to testify the kingdom of God as well as Jesus Christ as the King of Kings and the Lord of the Lords. Testimony is the utterance that he saw, not from knowledge. Apostle Paul was a man that persecuted Jesus Christ, the King before he was converted. As soon as he was converted, he went into the synagogues, and straight way he preached Christ that he is the Son of God. (Acts 9:20)

Yea! Whosoever meets with Jesus Christ, the Son of God, he understands himself as a sinner, and repents to be converted; and born of the Spirit in the kingdom of God.

     Apostle Peter confessed to Jesus before Jesus was arrested saying, “Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.” But Jesus answered him saying, “Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.”

Jesus had known him not be converted yet. Therefore Jesus said to him:

“Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.”(Luke 22:31, 32)

     At last Peter was to be concerted after he met with Jesus after he rose again. Jesus asked him three times to forgive his sin that he denied Jesus three times: “Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these?”(John 21:15)

Finally Apostle Peter became to be filled with the Holy Spirit after he was born again, and cried out to the Jews 

^“Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:….. Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ…… Save yourselves from this untoward generation.”(Acts 2:14-40)

     Apostle Titus testified of conversion that is regeneration: “For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”(Titus 3:3-7)

Titus meant the regeneration as a new birth in the Holy Spirit through the death of the old man. In other word, he meant to be a new creature. Apostle Paul also testified of this regeneration:

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”(2Cor. 5:17)

     Whosoever born again of the Spirit begins a new life taking spiritual milk and other spiritual meals in the word of God as a little child in the kingdom of God as a man that is dead in the world.

     Apostle Paul testified of numerous people of faith unto the Hebrews:

“Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; (Of whom the world was not worthy🙂 they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.”(Heb. 11:33-38)

     Yea! They that enter in the kingdom of God no more belong to the world not dwelling therein, but sojourning as strangers testified by Apostle Peter:

“Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;”(1Pet. 2:11)
