금주의 묵상: 시편 40:1-17

본문: 히브리서 10:1-18

제목: 거룩하게 되었는가? 아니면, 거룩하게 되려고 노력하고 있는가?

     하늘 아래에는 거룩한 자가 없다고 성경은 말씀하신다. 오직 하나님만이 거룩하신 분이시기 때문이다: “이스라엘의 찬양 가운데 거하시는 오 주여, 주는 거룩하시나이다.”(시 22:3)

선지자 예레미야를 통하여 하나님께서 말씀하셨다:  “마음은 만물보다 거짓되고 심히 악하니 누가 그것을 알 수 있으리요. 나 주는 마음을 살피고 나는 속을 시험하여 그 사람의 행위와 행실의 결과대로 각 사람에게 주노라.”(렘 17:9, 10)

하나님께서 사람으로 나타나셔서 다시 한 번 말씀하셨다: “사람에게서 나오는 것이 그 사람을 더럽히느니라. 이는 속에서, 즉 사람들의 마음에서 나오는 것은 악한 생각과 간음과 음행과 살인과 도둑질과 탐욕과 악의와 사기와 방탕과 악한 눈과 하나님을 모독함과 교만과 어리석음이기 때문이니, 이런 모든 악한 것은 속에서 나와, 그 사람을 더럽히느니;라.”(막 7:20-23)

     모든 사람은 이렇게 더러운 존재라고 하나님께서 친히 말씀하셨다. 또한 이런 사람은 하나님 나라를 상속받을 수 없다고 말씀하신다. 결국 하나님의 나라가 아닌 범죄한 마귀와 함께 지옥으로 갈 수밖에 없는 것이다. 사도 바울은 이렇게 증거했다: “이제 육신의 일은 분명히 나타나나니 곧 간음과 음행과 더러운 것과 음욕과 우상숭배와 마술과 원수맺음과 다툼과 질투와 분노와 투쟁과 분열과 이단들과 시기와 살인과 술 취함과 흥청거림과 또 그와 같은 것들이라. 내가 전에 말한 바와 같이 미리 말하노니 그헌 짓들을 하는 자들은 하나님의 나라를 상속받지 못할 것이라.”(갈 5:19-21)

     그렇다! 하늘 아래 있는 어떤 사람도 하나님의 나라에 들어갈 수 없는 것이다. 또한 사도 바울은 히브리인들에게 다시 한 번 말씀했다: “모든 사람들과 더불어 화평함과 거룩함을 추구하라. 이것이 없이는 주를 보지 못하리라.”(히 12:14)

     그렇다면, 사람들이 거룩하게 되기 위하여 열심히 노력하면 거룩하게 될 것인가? 다시 말해서 거룩한 행실을 쌓게 되면 거룩하게 될 것인가? 그러나 그렇게 노력할지라도 마음 속 안에 있는 더러움을 어떻게 제거할 것인가?. 솔로몬 왕은 이 사실을 깨닫고 증거했다:

“해 아래서 행해지는 모든 것들 가운데 이것이 한 가지 악이니, 곧 모든 사람에게 한 가지 일이 있다는 것이며, 또 정녕, 사람들의 아들들의 마음이 악으로 가득찼으며 그들이 살아있는 동안 에 미친 마음을 품다가 후에는 죽은자에게로 간다는 것이라.”(전 9:3)

또한 하나님께서는 선지자 이사야를 통하여 인간이 행하는 의가 어떤 것인지 말씀하셨다:

“그러나 우리는 다 불결한 것 같고, 우리의 모든 의는 더러운 걸레 같으며, 또 우리는 다 잎사귀처럼 시들며 우리의 죄악들은 바람처럼 우리를 옮겨갔나이다.”(사 64:6)

     그렇다! 사람이 아무리 노력하며 의를 행한다 해도  하나님의 눈에는 더러운 걸레처럼 보인다는 것이다. 여전히 마음 속에는 더러움과 악으로 가득차 있기 때문이다. 그러므로 모든 사람은 하나님의 진노 속에서 살다가 영원히 멸망할 수밖에 없는 존재인 것이다. 그러나 하나님께서는 모세에게 율법을 주심으로써 그들이 죄를 지을 때마다 그들의 죄를 대신 지고 죽는 희생제물의 피가 그들의 육신을 잠깐 덮어주게 하셨다. 그러나 그들은 여전히 죄의식 속에서 살 수밖에 없었다. 그들 마음 안에는 여전히 더러운 죄들로 기득차 있었기 때문이었다. 그러므로 사람들 마음 속에 있는 모든 죄들이 완전히 제거되기 전에는 어느 누구도 거룩해질 수 없는 것이다. 또한 아무도 거룩하신 하나님의 나라에 들어갈 수 없는 것이다. 왜냐하면 짐승의 피는 육체만을 정결케 할 수 있기 때문이다 (히 9:13).

     결국 하나님께서는 자신의 독생자가 피를 흘리게 하심으로써 그를 믿는 자들 안에 그 피가 흘러들어가서 마음 속의 모든 죄들을 제거하시기 원하셨다. 하나님의 독생자이신 예수님께서 겟세마네 동산에서 기도하실 때 온 세상 죄를 심판하실 하나님의 진노의 잔을 모두 마시시고 피흘려 죽으셨던 것이다. 예수님께서 세상에 오셨을 때에 아버지 하나님께 말씀드렸다: “주께서는 희생제물과 예물을 바라지 아니하시고 나를 위하여 한 몸을 예비하셨도다. 그때 내가 말씀드리기를 ‘오 하나님이여 보소서, (두루마리 책에 나에 관하여 기록한 것과 같이) 주의 뜻을 행하려고 내가 왔나이다.’하였노라.”(히 10:5-7)

     그렇다! 하나님께서는 희생제물의 피를 흘려서 사람들의 육체만을 정결케 했던 첫 번째 것(율법)은 폐하시고 자신의 독생자의 피를 흘리게 하심으로써 단 한 번 그리스도의 몸을 받으시고 그를 믿는 모든 사람들이 그의 피를 통하여 구속 곧 죄사함을 받고 (골 1:14) 거룩하게 하신 것이다. 다시 말해서 사람의 마음 속에 있는 모든 더러운 죄악들을 제거하신 것이다. 이제 그리스도를 믿는 사람은 누구나 죄들이 제거되어 더 이상 죄의식 없는 거룩한 삶을 살게 하신 것이다. 다시 말해서 구약에서 드려진 모든 제사들은 결코 사람의 죄를 제거할 수 없지만 예수 그리스도께서는 단 한 번의 속죄제를 영원히 드린 후 하나님의 오른 편에 앉으셔서 그분의 심판의 날까지 그곳에 앉아 계신 것이다. 또한 그분께서는 한 번의 제사로써 거룩하게 된 자들을 영원히 온전케 하셨다. 또한 믿는 자들의 죄들과 불법들을 다시는 기억하지 아니하신다. 할렐루야! 그러므로 유대인이나 이방인이나 그리스도의 피를 신뢰함으로 믿는 자들은 더 이상 속죄제를 드릴 필요가 없이 이미 거룩해진 것이다. (히 10:10-18)

     침례인 요한은 이 사실을 유대인들에게 선포했다: “보라, 세상 죄를 제거하는 하나님의 어린 양이라.”(요 1:29)

예수님께서 겟세마네로 가실 때에 기드룐 골짜기를 지나시면서 제자들에게 말씀하셨다: “이제 너희는 내가 너희에게 일러준 말을 통하여 깨끗해 졌느니라.. 내 안에 거하라. 그러면 나도 너희 안에 거하리라. 가지가 포도나무에 붙어있지 아니하면 스스로 열매를 맺을 수 없듯이 너희도 내 안에 거하지 아니하면 역시 그렇게 되리라..”(요 15:3,4)

예수님께서 제자들의 발을 씻어주실 때 베드로가 그의 손과 머리까지도 씻겨달라고 하였을 때 주님께서 말씀하셨다:

“이미 목욕한 사람은 발밖에 씻을 필요가 없으니 그는 온 몸이 깨끗함이라.”(요 13:10)고 말씀하셨다.

주님께서는 주님을 믿은 열한 제자들이 이미 깨끗해졌음을 말씀하심으로써 그들의 죄가 씻겨지고 제거되었음을 말씀하신 것이다.

     사도 바울은 히브리인들에게 편지할 때에 어떻게 그리스도의 피를 믿는 자들이 단 번에 거룩하게 되는지에 대하여 증거했다:

“황소와 염소의 피와 암송아지의 재도 불결한 자들에게 뿌려 그 육체를 정결케 함으로써 거룩하게 한다면, 하물며 영원하신 성령을 통하여 흠 없는 자신을 하나님께 드린 그리스도의 피가 어찌 족은 행실에서 너희 양심을 정결케하여 살아게신 하나님을 섬기게 하지 못하겠느냐?”(히 9:13, 14)

     그렇다! 죄인임을 깨닫고 회개하여 그리스도를 믿어 그의 피로 양심이 깨끗하게 되어 죄사함을 받은 사람들만이 하나님께 예배드릴 수 있으며 하나님의 일을 할 수 있는 것이다. 그리스도의 피로 거룩하게 되지 않고 아무리 열심을 내어 그분을 따라간다 할지라도 여전히 종교인으로 남을 수 밖에 없는 것이다. 아무리 힘써도 울어도 어느누구도 자신을 거룩하게 할 수 없는 것이다. 오직 자신을 위하여 피흘리신 그리스도를 전심으로 믿어 그분의 이름을 부르는 자만이 거룩함에 이르게 되는 것이다. 지금 거룩하게 되었는가? 아니면 거룩해 지려고 노력하고 있는가? 그렇다면 모든 것을 포기하고 오늘 주 예수 그리스도의 피만을 믿고 그분을 영접하여 바로 오늘이 은혜와 구원의 날이다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 40:1-17

Main scripture: Hebrews 10: 1-18

Subject: Are you sanctified?  Or, trying to be sanctified?

     Bible says, no one under heaven is holy, for only God is holy: ^“But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.”(Ps. 22:3)

Prophet Jeremiah spoke in the Spirit: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. “(Jer. 17:9, 10)

God manifested in flesh spoke again: “That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”(Mark 7:20-23)

     All men are defiled, and cannot inherit the kingdom of God, says the Lord so that they are destined to go to hell. Apostle Paul testified in the Spirit: “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”(Gal. 5:19-21)

      Yea! No one under heaven can enter into the kingdom of God. Apostle Paul spoke to Hebrews:

“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord :”(Heb. 12:14)

     Then, how men can be sanctified to be holy; is there any way to be holy? In other word, if they accumulate the holy deeds, are they able to be holy through their deeds? Nay! However they put many efforts to be holy, it is absolutely impossible to take away the defiled things in the heart. King Solomon understood, and testified:

“This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.”(Eccl. 9:3)

Prophet Isaiah also testified of the righteousness of man: “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”(Isa. 84:6)

     Yea! The righteousness of man seems to be filthy rags before God: Still the heart of man is full with filthy things and wickedness so that man is destined to live under wrath, and destroyed eternally. But God gave the law through Moses so that he wanted to cover the sin of flesh through the blood of the sacrifice of animals that die for man. But they still had to live in guilty feeling. Their heart was still filled with filthy sins. Therefore no one can be sanctified unless his sins are taken away, nor can he enter the kingdom of God, for the blood of animals only can purify the flesh. (Heb. 9:13)

     Finally, God wanted allowed his only begotten Son to shed his blood so that his blood could take away all sins in the heart making his blood flow in the heart of believer. So, he Jesus, his only begotten Son prayed at the Gethsemane and drank the cup of wrath of God, and died shedding his blood. Jesus spoke his Father in the world: “Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.”(Heb. 10:5-7)

“Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”(John 1:29)

     Yes! God abolished the first one that purifies the flesh through the blood of the sacrifice of animal; he took away the filthy sins of the believers through the blood of Christ so that they may receive the remission of sins that is redemption. Now, whosoever believes in Christ could live without guilty feeling, for their sins are already taken away. In other word, all the sacrifices in the Old Testament cannot take away the sins of man. But Jesus, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God until he comes again to judge the world. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. And their sins and iniquities will he remember no more. Hallelujah! Therefore, the Jew of the Gentiles, if they trust the blood of Jesus Christ they don’t to give the offering of redemption anymore (Heb. 10:10-18)

     John the Baptist declared to the Jew: “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”(John 1:29)

Jesus spoke unto his disciples on the way to Gethsemane passing through the valley of Gridiron: ^“Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.”(John 15:3, 4)

When Jesus was going to wash the disciples’ feet, Simon Peter said to Jesus, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. Then Jesus said to him:

“He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.”(John 13; 10)

Jesus had already cleansed them through taking away their sins.

     Apostle Paul testified unto the Hebrews how the believers of the blood of Christ could be sanctified right away:  “For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”(Heb. 9:13, 14)

     Yea! Only they that repent and believe in Christ, and   receive the remission of sins can worship God and do his ministry, for their conscience are already purged through the blood of Christ. Without sanctification of the conscience, no one can follow Christ to be ended up religious man. Neither by might nor by crying, can no one be sanctified at all. Only they that call upon the name of the Lord trusting in him in all the heart can be sanctified. Are you sanctified already? Or trying to be holy by works? Then, giving up all things, try to trust in the blood of Jesus Christ to make today the day of grace and salvation. Amen! Hallelujah!
