금주의 묵상: 이사야  53:1-12

본문: 고린도전서 15:1-11

제목: 그리스도의 복음의 능력

       사도 바울은 로마에 있는 그리스도인들에게 편지할 때, “내가 그리스도의 복음을 부끄러워하지 아니하노니 이는 이 복음이 믿는 모든 사람을 구원에 이르게 하는 하나님의 능력이 됨이라. 첫째는 유대인에게요, 또한 헬라인에게로다. 이 복음 안에는 믿음에서 믿음에 이르게 하는 하나님의 의가 계시되었으니 기록된 바 의인은 믿음으로  말미암아  살리라 함과 같으니라.”(롬 1:16,17)고 증거했다.

      다시 말해서 그리스도의 복음을 믿기만 하면 세상에 있는 어떤 사람이라도 차별 없이 하나님의 능력으로 구원을 받게 하신다는 것이다. 그 이유는 구약시대에는 자신이 행한 행위로 말미암는 의로 구원을 받을 수 있었지만 (물론 구약적인 구원이기는 하지만), 그리스도의 복음을 믿는 사람들에게는 자신이 행한 의가 아니라 하나님께서 행하신 의로 말미암아 은혜로 값었이 구원을 받게 하신다는 것이다(엡1 2:8,9). 다시 말해서 예수 그리스도께서 우리가 알지도 못하고 지킬 수도 없는 모든 율법의 죄들을 위하여 죽으셨기 때문이다. 사도 바울은 이 사실에 대하여 증거했다: “율법이 육신을 통하여서는 연약하여 할 수 없는 것이므로 하나님께서 죄 때문에 자신의 아들을 죄 있는 육신의 모양으로 보내 그 육신에 죄를 선고하셨으니 이는 율법의 의가 우리 안에서 이루어지게 하려함이라.”(롬 8:3,4)

      다시 말해서, 우리가 율법을 알지도 못하고 지킬 수도 없는 것을 잘 아시는 하나님께서 우리를 구원하시기 위하여 아들을 보내시어 우리가 받을 율법의 죄에 대한 형벌을 대신 받게 하시고 그를 믿기만 하면 죄 없다고 여기시는 바, 우리가 모든 율법을 다 지킨 것으로 여겨주신다는 것이다. 이에 대하여 사도 바울은 “그분께서는 미리 아신 자들을 자기 아들의 형상과 일치하게 하시려고 또한 예정하셨으니 이는 그를 많은 형제 가운데 첫태생이 되게 하려 하심이니라. 그리하여 예정하신 이들을 또한 부르시고 부르신 이들을 의롭게 하시고 의롭게 하신 이들을 또한 영화롭게 하셧느니라.”(롬 8:29,30)고 다시 확실하게 증거했다.

       사도 베드로도 복음에 대하여 증거했다:

 “너희가 가듭난 것은 썩어질 씨로 된 것이 아니라 썩지 아니할 씨로 된 것이니 살아 있고 영원히 거하는 하나님의 말씀으로 되었느니라. 이는 모든 육체는 풀과 같고 사람의 모든 영광은 풀의 꽃과 같으며, 풀은 마르고 꽃은 져도 주의 말씀은 영원토록 남아 있음이라. 이것이 너희에게 복음으로 전해진 말씀이니라.”(벧전 1:23-25)

사도 베드로는 사도 바울이 전한 그리스도의 복음이 믿는 사람들을 거듭나게 한다고 증거 한 것이다.

       사도 바울도 디도에게 편지할 때에, “우리도 한때는 어리석고 복종치 아니하며, 미혹당하고 여러 가지 욕심과 쾌락에 종노릇 하며, 악한 시기 속에서 살고, 가증스러우며, 서로 증오하는 자였으나, 그후 인간을 향한 우리 구주 하나님의 인자하심과 사랑이 나타나서 우리가 행한 의로운 행위에 의하지 않고 그의 자비하심에 따라 중생의 씻음과 성령의 새롭게 하심으로 우리를 구원하셨으니 이 성령을 예수 그리스도 우리 구주를 통하여 풍성히 부어주셨느니라. 이는 우리가 그의 은혜로 인하여 의롭게 되어 영원한 소망을 따라 상속자들이 되게 하려 하심이라.”(딛 3:3-7)고 증거하면서 우리가 성령을 받아 거듭난 것은 순전히 복음을 믿음을 통한 것이라고 사도 베드로의 증거에 동의했다.

      자! 그러면 죄인으로 태어나서 하나님의 율법도 알지도 못하고 지킬 수도 없는 우리 이방인들이 믿을 때 하나님의 능력으로 예수 그리스도께서 흘리신 보혈을 통하여 구속, 곧 죄들의 용서함을 받아 성령으로 다시 태어나는 능력의 복음에 대하여 상고해 보자!  사도 바울은 이 복음을 굳개 잡고 헛되이 믿지 아니하였다면 구원을 받은 것이라고 증거하였으니 헛되이 믿을 수도 있다는 말씀인 것이다. 다시 말해서 그리스도의 복음을 확실히 알고 믿어야 하는 것이다. 그리고 사도 바울은 이 복음이 자신이 받은 것이라고 증거했으며 심지어는 “나의 복음”(롬 2;16)이라고도 증거했다. 또한 갈라디아 교회 성도들에게 편지할 때에 “나는 너희가 그리스도의 은혜 안으로 너희를 부르신 분으로부터 그렇게 빨리 떠나 다른 복음을 따르게 됨을 이상히 여기노라. 다른 복음은 없나니 다만 너희를 교란시키는 어떤 사람들이 있어서 그들이 그리스도의 복음을 변개시키려는 것이라. 그러나 우리뿐만 아니라 하늘에서 온 천사라도 우리가 너희에게 전한 것 외에 어떤 다른 복음을 전한다면 그는 저주를 받으리라. 우리가 전에도 말한 것같이 지금도 내가 다시 말하노니 누구든지 너희가 받은 것 외에 어떤 다른 복음을 전한다면 그는 저주를 받으리라.”(갈 1:7-9)고 그들을 경고했다.

      그는 다시 한 번 반복해서 갈라디아인들에게 책망했다 : “오 어리석은 갈라디아 사람들아, 예수 그리스도께서 너희 가운데서 십자가에 못박히신 채로 너희의 눈 앞에 분명히 제시되었는데 너희가 진리에 순종하지 못하도록 누가 너희를 미혹하더냐? 내가 너희에게 알고자 하는 것은 오직 이것이니 너희가 율법의 행위로 성령을 받앗더냐? 아니면 믿음을 들음으로써냐? 너희가 그렇게 어리석으냐? 성령 안에서 시작하였다가 육체로 온전해지려 하느냐? 너희가 그처럼 많은 고통을 헛되니 받았느냐? 과연 그것이 헛된 것이더냐? 그러면 너희에게 성령을 전해 주고 너희 가운데서 기적들을 행하는 그가 율법의 행위로 하는 것이냐? 아니면 믿음을 들음으로 하는 것이냐? 아브라함이 하나님을 믿으니 그것이 그에게 의로 여겨졌다 함과 같으니라. 그러므로 믿음으로 난 사람들이 아브라함의 자손임을 알라.”(갈 3:1-6)

       그렇다! 예수 그리스도께서는 성경대로 우리의 죄들로 인하여 죽으셨다. 최초로 그리스도가 계시된 것은 에덴 동산에서였다. 구약 성경에 나타난 그리스도에 대하여 몇 가지만 살펴보자:

       아담과 이브가 범죄하여 그들의 영이 죽었을 때 하나님께서는 “내가 너와 여자 사이에, 또 네 씨와 그녀의 씨 사이에 적의를 두리니, 그녀의 씨(그리스도)는 너(마귀)의 머리를 부술 것이요, 너는 그(그리스도)의 발꿈치를 부술 것이라.”(창 3:15)고 말씀하심으로써 모든 아담의 자손들의 죄들을 위하여 그리스도께서 오셔서 십자가에 못박혀 죽으실 것을 몌언하셨다.

    또한 하나님께서 파라오와 이집트 위에 모든 첫태생이 죽임을 당하는 재앙을 내리셨을 때 이스라엘 백성들은 어린양이나 염소들을 불에 구워서 누룩 없는 빵과 쓴 나물을 함께 먹고 그 피를 취하여 집들의 양쪽 문기둥과 문 윗 기둥에다 뿌림으로써 죽임을 당하지 않았는 바, 앞으로 세상 죄를 제거하는 어린양으로 오셔서 죄없는(누룩 없는)분께서 고난 받으시고(쓴 나물) 십자게에 알몸으로 여섯 시간 동안 햇볕에서 몸이 완전히 데어버리시면서(불에 구워먹음) 죽으실 어린 양 예수 그리스도가 이미 계시되었다.

       이스라엘 백성들이 광야에서 물이 없다고 모세와 다투었을 때 하나님께서 모세에게 호렙에 있는 반석을 치라고 명령하셨으며 그 반석을 쳤을 때 물이 나왔으며, 사도 바울은 그것을 영적 반석이라 말했으며 그 반석은 그리스도셨음이라고 증거했다(출 17:1-6, 고전 10:3,4). 다시 말해서 반석이신 예수 그리스도를 십지가에서 처형하였을 때 로마 병사가 그의 옆구를 찔렀을 때 피와 물(요 19:34)이 나왔는 바, 그것은 앞으로 믿는 자가 받을 성령을 미리 보여주셨던 것이다.

     이스라엘 백성들이 광야에서 하나님과 모세를 거역하여 불평하였을 때 하나님께서 불뱀을 보내시어 백성들을 물려 죽었을 때 모세가 놋뱁을 만들어 장대 위에 매달아 놓았고 놋뱀을 본자마다 살았다 (민 21:5-9). 예수 그리스도께서는 그 자신이 한 마리의 놋뱀처럼 십자가에 매달릴 것과 그를 믿는 자들마다 영생을 받을 것을 말씀하셨다:

 “모세가 광야에서 뱀을 들어올린 것같이 인자도 그렇게 들어올려져야만 하리니 이는 그를 믿는 사람은 누구든지 멸망하지 않고 영생을 얻게 하려 하심이니라.”(요 3:14,15)

     또한 시편 22편과 69편에도 그리스도께서 십자가에서 받으실 고통을 상세하게 예언해 놓으셨다. 또한 이사야 선지자는 앞으로 나타나실 그리스도에 대하여, “그는 사람들에게서 멸시받고 거부되었으며 슬픔의 사람이요 질고에 익숙한 사람이라, 우리가 우리의 얼굴을 그로부터 숨긴 것같이 그는 멸시 받았고 우리는 그를 존중하지 아니하였도다. 실로 그가 우리의 질고를 지고 우리의 슬픔을 지었는데도 우리는 그가 형벌을 받아 하나님께 맞으며 고난당한 줄로 생각하였도다. 그러나 그는 우리의 허물로 인하여 상처를 입었고, 그는 우리의 죄악으로 인하여 상하였도다. 우리의 화평을 위항 징계가 그에게 내려졌고, 그가 맞은 채찍으로 우리가 치유되었도다. 우리는 모두 양같이 길을 잃어 각자 자기 길로 돌이켰으니 주께서는 우리 모두의 죄악을 그에게 지우셨도다.”(사 53:3-6)

      이 정도의 성경말씀만을 보아도 그리스도께서 우리의 죄들로 인하여 고난받으시고 죽으시고 부활하신 복음을 믿기만 하면 값없이 은혜로 영원한 생명을 받게 하시는 하나님의 뜻을 깨달을 수 있을 것이다. 창녀들이나 세리들이 단순히 주님을 믿어 회개함으로 주님께 나왔을 때 그들은 구원을 받아 하나님의 왕국에 들어갔으며 심지어 함께 못박혔던 강도도 주님을 부르며 회개하는 순간에 구원을 받았던 것이다. 죽으신 후 셋째 날에 부활하셨던 예수 그리스도께서는 “셋째 날”에 다시 오셔서 주 안에서 죽은 자들의 몸을 살리실 것이며 살아있을 우리들도 산채로 몸을 변화시키실 것이다. 그러므로 하나님께서 모세에게 이스라엘 백섣들을 향하여 “셋째 날”(출 19:10-11)을 대비하라고 명령하셨으며, 선지자 호세아도 “이틀 후에 그가 우리를 살리시며, 셋째 날에 그가 우리를 일으키시리니, 우리가 그의 목전에서 살리라.”(호 6:2)고 증거함으로써 그리스도께서 셋째 날에 부활하실 것을 미리 예언했던 것이다.

        히브리서 기자도 우리가 받은 구원에 대하여 확실하교 명료하게 증거했다: “그 뜻에 따라 모든 사람을 위하여 한 번 예수 그리스도의 몸을 드리심으로 우리가 거룩하게 된 것이라. 제사장마다 매일 서서 섬기며, 똑같은 제사를 자주 드리지만 이것으로써는 결코 죄들을 제거할 수 없으나 이분은 한 번 속죄제를 영원토록 드린 후 하나님의 오른 편에 앉으셔서 그후로는 그의 원수들을 자기 발판으로 삼으실 때까지 기다리시느니라. 이는 그가 한 번의 제사로써 거룩하게 된 자들을 영원히 온전케 하셨기 때문이라.”(히 10:10-14)

     그렇다! 우리의 구원을 위하여 우리가 한 것은 아무 것도 없으며, 앞으로도 아무 것도 없을 것이다. 다만 우리는 그 은헤에 감사하여 하나님을 기쁘시게 해야 하는 것이다. 사도 바울은 이에 대하여 말씀했다: “우리가 아나니 곧 우리 옛 사람이 그와 함께 십자가에 못박힌 것은 죄의 몸을 멸하여 더 이상 우리가 죄에게 종노릇 하지 않게 하기 위함이니라. 이는 죽은 자가 죄로부터 자유롭게 되었기 때문이라. 이제 우리가 그리스도와 함께 죽었으면 또한 그와 함께 살 줄을 믿으며 그리스도께서 죽은 자들로부터 일으켜지셔서 다시는 죽지 아니하시고 사망이 더 이상 그를 주관하지 못하는 줄 우리가 아노라. 이와 같이 노희도 너희 자신을 정녕 죄에게는 죽은 자요, 예수 그리스도 우리 주로 말미암아 하나님께는 산 자로 여기라. 그러므로 너희는 죄가 너희 죽을 몸 안에서 군림하지 못하게 하여 몸의 정욕 가운데 죄에게 순종하지 말고 또 너희 지체를 불의의 병기로 죄에게 내어주지 말고 다만 너희 자신을 죽은 자들로부터 살아난 자들처럼 하나님께 드리며 너희 지체를 의의 병기로 하나님께 드리라.”(롬 6:6-13) 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Isaiah 53:1-12

Main scripture: Romans 15:1-11

Subject: The Power of the Gospel of Christ

       Apostle Paul testified when he wrote an epistle unto the saints in Rome:  ^“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”(Rom. 1:16, 17)

       In other word, anyone in the world shall receive the salvation without any discrimination, when they believe in the gospel of Christ. In the Old Testament days, people could be save by their own righteousness through their works, but in the New testament days, the righteousness of God shall gives the salvation by grace freely no more through their works, only when they trust in the gospel of Christ (Eph. 2:8, 9); because Christ already had died for the sins of the law that we neither know nor can keep. Apostle Paul testified of this:   ^“For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. “(Rom. 8:3, 4)

         In other word, God knowing that we are so weak that we neither know the law nor can keep it, he sent his only begotten Son to receive the judgment of the law for us through his death on the cross. God recognize the believer of his Son as they keep all the laws when only they believe in his Son, testified by Apostle Paul:  ^“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.”(Rom. 8:29, 30)

         Apostle Peter also testified of the gospel of Christ:   ^“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.”(1Pet. 1:23-25)

He testified of the gospel that gives the new birth unto whosoever believe in the gospel of Christ.

       Apostle Paul testified when he wrote an epistle saying,   ^“For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”)Tit. 3:3-7)

He emphasized of the faith in the gospel that gives the new birth of the Spirit to agree with Peter.

       Let us search the gospel of Christ that gives the salvation unto us, the Gentiles through the blood of Jesus Christ that gives us the redemption of sins only because we believed in him, even though we are born sinners, and neither we know the law nor can keep it. Apostle Paul testified, by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. He warned unto them not believe in the gospel in vain. In other word, we have to understand the gospel of Christ to believe in it. Apostle Paul testified of the gospel of Christ as his own gospel, because he received it form the Lord Jesus directly. He warned the Galatians saying, “Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”(Gal. 1:7-9)

He reminded them of the warning, and rebuked them saying,

^“O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Have ye suffered so many things in vain? If it be yet in vain. He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he lit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. “(Gal. 3:1-6)

       Yea! Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures. Christ was reveled in the Mount Eden for the first time. Let us search the Christ that is shown in the Old Testament.

       When Adam and Eve sinned, and their spirit were dead, God prophesied of the Messiah in the name of Jesus Christ to be crucified for the sins of the descendants of Adam saying, ^“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his” (gen. 3:15)

       When God sent the wrath to kill the firstborns unto Pharaoh and Egypt, people of Israel were not killed obeying the word of God saying,   ^“And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. “(Ex. 12:4-8)

Jesus Christ without sin (unleavened bread) was revealed as the Lamb of God to take away the sin of the world; and he shall suffer (bitter herb); and his body shall be barbecued by the Sun on the cross

For six hours in totally naked (they had to eat the lamb roast in the fire).

       When the people of Israel argued with Moses asking water to drink in the wilderness, God asked Moses to strike the rock in Horeb. Water was flowed out of the rock when he stroke it. Apostle Paul testified of the rock as the spiritual Rock; and the Rock was Christ (Ex. 17:1-6, 1Cor. 10:3,4). When one of the Roman soldiers with a spear pierced the side of Jesus on the cross, and forthwith came there out blood and water (John 19:34). This is the Holy Ghost that shall be received by the believers.

       When the people of Israel murmured against God and Moses in the wilderness, God sent the fiery serpents to bite them to death. Everyone that was bitten, when he looked upon the serpent of brass, he lived (Num. 21:5-9) Jesus Christ spoke unto the Jews that he shall be lifted on the cross as a serpent of brass, and whosoever behold him shall receive the eternal life:   ^“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. “(John 3:14, 15)

           The Holy Ghost prophesied of the suffering of Jesus on the cross in detail through Psalms 22 and 69 chapters. Prophet Isaiah testified of Christ to come:  ^“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”(Isa. 53: 3-6)

         Only searching these scriptures, we could understand the will of God that is to give eternal life by grace, only when man believes in Christ Jesus that suffered, and died, and rose again from the dead the third day. Harlots and publicans came to Jesus simply by faith repenting their sins; and Jesus entered into the kingdom of God through salvation. Even a thief crucified with Jesus called upon the Lord Jesus by faith with repentance also was saved immediately by Jesus. Jesus Christ rose again from the dead the third day; and he shall come to the earth the third day to raise the body of them that died in Christ; and our body shall be changed unto the immortal and incorruptible. Therefore the LORD God commanded to the people of Israel through Moses to prepare for the third day (Ex. 19:10-11). Prophet Hosea testified of the third day saying, “After two days will he survive us: in the third day he will raise up, and we shall live in his sight.”(Hos. 6:2)

       The writer of Hebrews also testified of the salvation that we received very clearly: ^“By the will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. “(Heb. 10:10-14)

       Yea! We have done nothing for our salvation; and shall be nothing even in the future. We only have to please God with thanksgiving for his grace. Apostle Paul testified of this:  ^“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God” (Rom. 6:6-13) Amen! Hallelujah!
