금주의 묵상: 이사야 61:1-6

본문: 로마서 10:1-15

제목: 하나님의 의와 믿음과 구원

       사도 바울이 바울 되기 전, 주님의 제자들을 체포하기 위하여 다마스커스에 가까이 왔을 때 갑자기 하늘로부터 한 줄기 빛이 그를 둘러 비추었을 때 땅에 엎드렸으며 그 빛 가운데서 부활하신 예수 그리스도의 음성을 들었다. “사울아, 사울아, 네가 왜 나를 박해하느냐?” 그때 그는 “주여, 당신은 누구시니이까?”라고 불었을 때, “나는 네가 박해하는 예수라. 가시채를 걷어차는 것이 네게 고통이라.”고 말씀하셨다. 그는 떨며 놀라며 예수님께 말했다. “주여, 내가 어떻게 하기를 원하시나이까?”(행 9:1-6)) 그때 그는 처음으로 예수님이 “주”, 즉 하나님이심을 깨닫고 예수님을 “주”라고 불었을 때에 그는 구원을 받았으며, 그 이후로부터 그는 만나는 사람들에게 그가 예수님을 주님으로 불러서 받은 구원에 대하여 간증했다. 사실 사도 바울이 받은 구원은 예수님과 함께 십자가에 달려서 죽은 한 편 강도가 주님을 향하여 “주여, 주께서 주의 왕국에 임하실 때 나를 기억하소서.”(눅 23:42)라고 고백하는 순간 구원받은 강도와 같은 구원이었다. 창녀들이나 세리들이 회개하고 예수님을 주님으로 믿어서 받은 구원과도 같은 것이었다 . 그들도 사도 바울과 같은 방법으로 구원을 받은 것이다. 그들이 한 것은 아주 간단한 고백이었다. 그러나 그들이 같은 점은 예수님이 “주” 곧 하나님이심을 알았다는 사실이다. 사도 바울이 실라와 함께 빌립보 감옥에 갇혔을 때 간수가 “선생님들이여, 내가 구원을 받으려면 어떻게 해야 하나이까?”라고 했을 때, 바울과 실라는 “주 예수 그리스도를 믿으라, 그리하면 너와 네 집이 구원을 받으리라.”(행 16:30,31)고 간단하게 복음을 전했다. 다시 말해서 예수가 주, 즉 하나님이시며 메시야로서 구원주가 되심을 믿으라는 간단하고 확실한 메세지였다.

     사도 바울이 아그립파 왕 앞에서 전한 복음을 들어보자: “오 왕이여, 정오에 길에서 내가 보니 해보다 더 밝은 빛이 히늘로부터 나와 나와 내 일행을 두루 비추더이다. 우리가 모두 땅에 엎드렸을 때 한 음성이 내게 말씀하시기를 ‘사울아, 사울아, 어찌하여 네가 나를 박해하느냐? 가시채를 걷어차는 것이 네게 고통이라.’ 하시기에, 내가 말하기를 ‘주여, 누구시니이까?’ 라고 하니, 그가 말씀하시기를 ‘나는 네가 박해하는 예수라. 일어나서 네 발로 서라. 이는 내가 이 목적을 위하여 너에게 나타났음이니 네가 본 것과 너에게 나타나게 될 일에 대하여 너를 일꾼과 증인으로 삼고자 함이라. 그 백성과 이방인들로부터 너를 구해 내어 이제 그들에게 보내서 그들의 눈을 뜨게 하여 흑암에서 광명으로 사탄의 권세에서 하나님께로 돌아서게 하며 그들로 죄사함을 받게 하고 내 안에 있는 믿음으로 거룩하게 된 사람들 가운데서 유업을 받게 하려는 것이라.’고 하였나이다.”(행 26:13-18)

그는 그가 만난 예수가 주가 되심과 그분을 주라 부르며  믿었을 때 죄사함을 받아 구원을 받았으며 앞으로 유업을 받을 것에 대해 간증했던 것이다.

     오늘 분문에서 사도 바울은 이스라엘 사람들이 자신 처럼 율법의 의를 주장함으로써 은혜의 복음을 전하는 사람들을 박해하면서 진리의 지식에 무지한 채 여전히 율법에 묶여서 자신의 의를 의지한 채 하나님의 의에 복종치 않음에 대하여 안타까워하고 있다. 자신  역시 그들과 같은 무지함에 있었기 때문에 더욱 그랬던 것이다. 예수님께서 모든 유대인들에게 나타나셔서 말씀해주셨으면 하는 간절한 마음 역시 있었을 것이다. 사도 바울이 주님을 만난 후 진리를 깨닫고 “그리스도께서 믿는 모든 사람에게 의가 되시고자 율법의 끝이 되셨느니라.” (4절)고 증거했다.

       다시 말해서, 예수께서 십자가에서 피흘리시고 죽으신 이유가 바로 모든 율법의 죄들을 위한 것이라는 것이다. 유대인뿐만 아니라 이 세상에 태어난 모든 사람들을 위한 것이라는 것이다. 사도 바울은 이 사실에 대하여 증거하기를 “율법이 육신을 통하여서는 연약하여 할 수 없는 것이므로 하나님께서 죄 때문에 자신의 아들을 죄 있는 육신의 모양으로 보내 그 육신에 죄를 선고하셨으니 이는 율법의 의가 우리 안에서 이루어지게 하려 함이라.”(롬 8:3,4)고 말했던 것이다. 유대인들은 진리의 지식 없이 하나님께 대한 율법적인 열성 때문에 하나님께서 주신 은혜가 믿어지지 않아서 에수님을 믿지 못하였으며, 율법도 하나님도 모르는 이방인들은  율법을 알지 못하여 자신들이 죄인인 줄 깨닫지 못하여 하나님께서 주신 은혜를 받지 못함으로 예수님을 믿지 않으니 어떻게 주의 이름을 부를 수 있겠는가?

       그러므로 사도 바울은 믿기만 하면 구원을 받는 말씀을 전해야 한다고 증거하고 있는 것이다. 모든 사람을 죄로부터 사망으로부타 사탄의 권세로부터 구원하여 영원한 생명을 주는 믿음의 말씀에 대하여 사도 바울은 “말씀이 네게 가까워 네 입에 있으며 네 마음에 있노라.”고 말함으로써 누구든지 예수를 믿고 구원받은 사람들은 그들이 믿은 예수님이 마음속에 있으니 그 예수님에 대하여 입으로만 증거하면 아주 쉽고 어려운 일이 아니라는 것이다. 그러나 입을 다물고 있으면 아무리 가까이 있다 할지라도 어떤 역사도 일어나지 않고 어떤 사람도 구원할 수 없다는 간절한 마음으로 호소하고 있는 것이다. 구원받은 사람들이 입만 벌리고 예수 그리스도를 증거하기만 하면 듣는 사람들이 그분이 주 하나님이 되심을 알고, 믿음으로 입으로 주 예수를 시인하고 또 하나님께서 그를 죽은 자들로부터 살리신 것을 마음에 믿게 되어 구원을 받게 된다는 것이다. 이런 연유로 사도 바울은 로마인들에게 선포했다: “주의 이름을 부르는 자는 누구나 구원을 받으리라.”(13절)

       주 예수 그리스도를 믿음으로 의롭게 된 사람들은 어느누구도 마음 속으로 “누가 하늘에 올라갈 것인가?”라고 말하지 않으며, 또 ”누가 깊은 곳으로 내려갈 것인가?”라고도 말하지 않는다는 것이다. 다시 말해서 예수 그리스도를 믿어 의롭게 되지 않고서는 아무도 하늘에 올라갈 수 없으며, 예수 그리스도만이 죄인들을 위하여 죽으시고 부활하실 수 있는 유일한 분이라는 것을 믿는다는 것이다. 그러므로 예수께서 죽으시기 전에 “죄에 대하여라 함은 그들이 나를 믿지 않기 때문이요, 의에 대하여라 함은 내가 아버지께 가므로 너희가 나를 보지 못함이며, 또 심판에 대하여라 함은 이 세상의 통치자가 심판을 받기 때문이라.”(요 16:9-11)고 말씀하셨다.    

        예수님께서도 마지막  기도를 통하여 “영생은 이것이니, 곧 사람들이 유일하시고 참 하나님이신 아버지와 아버지께서 보내신 예수 그리스도를 아는 것이옵니다.”(요 17:3)라고 말씀하셨다. 그러므로 구원받은 사람들은 예수 그리스도가 누구신지, 또한 아버지 하나님이 누구신지에 대해 전파해야 하는 것이다. 그때에 믿지 않는 사람들이 하나님의 말씀을 듣고 예수 그리스도가 주가 되심을 알게 되어, 믿음으로 예수님을 주로 부르게 되어 구원을 받게 되는 것이다. 그러므로 예수님이 누구신지 알고 믿지 않고서는 예수님을 주라 부를 수 없는 것이다. 그러므로 하나님께서는 예수님을 믿음으로 구원받아 하나님과 화평케 하는 그리스도의 화평의 은혜의 복음을 전하여 좋은 일들의 기쁜 소식을 가져오는 자들의 발이 얼마나 아름다운가라고 말씀하시는 것이다. 이제 때가 차면 더 이상 그 엄청난 은혜를 더 이상 받을 수 없게 되며, 믿지 않았던 자들을 심판하는 대 환란에 들어가게 될 것이다. 이제 시간이 얼마 남지 않았다. 한 사람이라도 더 구원하는 일이 바로 하나님의 왕국과 하나님의 의를 구하는 것이다. 이때에 아버지께서는 우리가 필요한 모든 것들을 그분의 사역을 위해 더해 주실 것이다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Isaiah 61:1-6

Subject: The Righteousness of God, Faith and Salvation

      As Apostle Paul, when he was Saul, journeyed to arrest the disciples of Jesus, he came near Damascus; then suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven. And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, “Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?”     And he said, “Who art thou, Lord?” The Lord said unto him, “I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.” And he trembling and astonished said, “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?”(Act 9:1-6)

Finally, then for the first time, he understood that Jesus is the Lord that is God; and he called Jesus as the Lord to be saved. Since then he made testimony of the salvation that he was saved calling Jesus as the Lord to whomever he met. The salvation of Apostle Paul is the same one that the thief who was crucified with Jesus, and called Jesus saying, “Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.”  It is also same one as harlots and publicans that repented, and believed in Jesus as their Lord to receive. They were saved exactly as Apostle Paul was saved. They made a simple confession; and all of them knew Jesus as the Lord that is God.  When Apostle Paul and Silas were in the prison in Philippi, the jailer asked them saying, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” And they preached gospel to him in a simple way saying, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”(Acts 16:30, 31)

In other word, the message was that Jesus is the Lord that is God and Messiah and Savior.

       Let us hear the message given unto the king, Agrippa:   ^“At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me. And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? It is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.”(Acts 26:13-18)

He testified of the Lord Jesus that gave the forgiveness of sins, and salvation, and inheritance, when he believed on him.

       In the main passage, Apostle Paul shows sympathy with the people of Israel, because they still trust in their own righteousness as he did; and they are persecuting the preachers of the gospel of grace being ignorant of the knowledge of the truth in the bondage of the law so that they not obey the righteousness of God. Apostle Paul, himself also was same one before he met Jesus. He might ask Jesus to appear himself to all the Jews. Understanding the truth of the New Testament, Apostle Paul testified saying, “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.”

       In other word, the real reason why Jesus crucified shedding blood unto death is for the sins of the law, not only for the Jew but also for all men born in the world. Apostle Paul testified again of this truth saying,  ^“For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:    That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us,…..” (Rom. 8:3, 4)  The Jew couldn’t believe in Jesus because they are ignorant of the knowledge of the truth of grace of God, even though they have zeal of God according to the law; and the Gentile are ignorant of the law so that they couldn’t understand that they are sinners, and it is not necessary for them to receive the grace of God; then how they can call Jesus as the Lord?

         Therefore, Apostle Paul is testifying of the word of salvation given to whoever believes in the Lord Jesus. He also testified of the word of faith that gives unto them that believe, delivering them from death, and from the Satan unto the life eternal saying, “The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart:” Therefore whosoever believe on the Lord Jesus has Jesus within them; and they only have to make testimony of Jesus within them so simply. But, if they not open their mouth, nothing of salvation is going to happen even though Jesus is nigh to them. Saved ones only have to open to testify of Jesus Christ so that people understand Jesus is the Lord God; and they shall believe on him unto salvation. Finally, Apostle Paul proclaimed unto the Romans saying,   ^“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”(v13)

        Whosoever is justified through faith, never says in the heart, “Who shall ascend into heaven?” Neither say, “Who shall descend into the deep?” In other word, no one can ascend into heaven, unless he is justified by faith in Jesus Christ, because he believe that only Jesus is the only One that can die for sinners, and rise again from the dead Therefore Jesus said to his disciples before he was crucified,   ^“Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.”(John 16:9-11)

       Jesus said in his final prayer, ^“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”(John 17:3) Therefore, saved people have to preach who Jesus Christ as well as the Father God so that nonbelievers hear the word of God to know the Lord that is Jesus Christ; and they shall call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ unto salvation. No one can call Jesus as the Lord unless he knows who Jesus is. This is the reason why how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things. When the time of God is fulfilled, this great grace of God cannot be given anymore because unbelievers have to enter into the Great Tribulation. It is not much time left. To save one more soul is the way to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. Then our Father God shall add all things that we need unto us for his ministry. Amen! Hallelujah!
