금주의 묵상: 시편 4:1-8

본문: 요한복음 17:1-26

제목:  주님의 마지막 기도 가운데 나타난 "거룩함"

    오늘 우리는 주님께서 세상을 떠나시기 전에 제자들을 위하여 하신 마지막 중보기도를 듣는다. "아버지시여, 그 시간이 왔나이다." 사단에 의하여 자신의 발꿈치가 상하여 부서지게  될 그 시간인 것이다(창 3:15). 다시 말해서 자신의 죽음을 통하여 세상 죄를 제거하시는 아버지의 뜻이 이루어질 시간이 왔다는 것이다. 또한 유일하시고 참 하나님이신 아버지와 아버지께서 보내신 예수 그리스도이신 자신을 믿는 모든 사람들에게 영생을 주심 으로써(요 3;16) 아버지를 영화롭게 하는 시간이 왔다는 것이다. 또한 자신의 죽으심과 부활을 통하여 많은 사람들에게 영원한 생명을 주심으로써 하나님 아버지의 자녀들이 되게 하시며 또한 자신의 신부들이 되게 하신 후 창세 전에 계획하신 아버지의 뜻을 이루심으로써 자신을 영화롭게 하실 것을 기도하신 것이다.

      그런 연후에 주님께서는 자신의 제자들을 위하여 기도하신다. 주님께서는 세상을 위하여는 기도하지 않으신다고 말씀하신다. 다만 아버지께서 주신 자들, 다시 말해서 자신을 믿은 자들만을 위하여 중보기도 하신다. 그리고 그들은 아버지께서 주신 말씀들을 영접한 자들이며 그 말씀들을 통하여 예수님께서 아버지께서 보내신 자이심을 믿은 자들이라고 말씀하신다. 다시 말해서 예수께서 태초에 아버지 하나님과 함께 말씀으로 계셨던 하나님이심을 믿은 자들이라고 말씀하신다(요 1:1-5). 또한 그들을 아버지의 이름으로 지켜주셔서 그들 역시 아버지와 자신이 하나인 것처럼 하나가 되게 해 달라고 간구하신다.  그러나 멸망을 아들이며 마귀인 이스카리옷 유다 (요 6:70, 71)는 제외하신다.

         이제 주님께서는 자신의 제자들을 진리이신 아버지의 말씀으로 거룩하게 해 달라고 기도하신다. 자신을 거룩하게 하신 주님께서는 이제 그들 역시 진리를 통해 거룩하게 해 달라고 기도하신다. 그런데, 그분께서 그들이라고 말씀하실 때, 단지 열한 제자들만 위한 것이 아니고 그들의 말을 통하여 자신을 믿는 사람들, 다시 말해서 주 예수 그리스도를 믿은 우리들을 위하여서도 기도하시는 것이다. 이 얼마나 위로가 되는 말씀인가?  또한 제자들이 말씀으로 거룩하게 되어야 하는 이유에 대하여 기도하신다:

 "이는 그들 모두기 하나되게 함이오니, 아버지시여, 아버지께서 내 안에 계시고 내가 아버지 안에 있는 것같이 그들도 우리 안에 하나가 되게 하여서 세상으로 하여금 아버지께서 나를 보내신 것을 믿게 하여 주옵소서. 또 아버지께서 내게 주신 그 영광을 내기 그들에게도 주었사옵니다. 그리하여 우리가 하나인 것같이 그들도 하나가 되게 하려는 것이옵니다. 내가 그들 안에, 또 아버지께서 내 안에 계심은 그들을 하나로 온전하게 하셔서 아버지께서 나를 보내신 것과 나를 사랑하신 것처럼 그들을 사랑하신 것을 세상으로 알게 하려 함이니이다. 아버지시여, 내가 바라오니 아버지께서 내게 주신 그들도 내가 있는 곳에 나와 함께 있게 하셔서 그들로 아버지께서 내게 주신 나의 영광을 보게 하소서. 이는 아버지께서 세상의 기초가 놓이기 전부터 나를 사랑하셨기 때문이옵니다."(21-24절).

           주님께서는 자신의 기도 가운데 자신의 제자들이 거룩해지는 길은 오직 하나님의 말씀을 통해서라는 것이다. 다시 말해서 하나님의 눈에서 거룩함이란 하나님의 말씀을 지키면서 그 말씀 안에 거하는 것이 거룩한 삶이란 것이다. 누구든지 예수 그리스도께서 태초에 말씀으로 계셨던 하나님이심을 알고 그분을 믿어 그분의 피를 통하여 모든 죄들을 사함받아 마음이 정결하게 되어 혼이 구원받은 사람은(벧전 1:9) 하나님의 진리이신 하나님의 말씀을 읽고 듣고 묵상함으로써 진리 안에 행하는 거룩한 삶을 살아야 한다는 것이다. 주님의 기도를 기록한 사도 요한은 진리 안에서 행하는 가이오에게 편지할 때, "사랑하는 자여, 무엇보다도 네 혼이 잘됨같이 네가 번성하고 강건하기를 바라노라. 이는 형제들이 와서 네 안에 있는 진리를 증거하고 네가 진리 안에 행한다고 하므로 내가 매우 기뻐하였음이라. 나의 자녀들이 진리 안에서 행한다는 것을 듣는 것보다 더 큰 기쁨이 없느니라."(요삼 1:2-4)고 말씀했다.

       그러나  세상에는 진리가 없고 거짓으로 가득 차 있다. 다시 말해서 어두움으로 가득 차 있는 것이다. 하나님의 말씀만이 진리이며 빛인 것이다. 그러나 세상은 빛보다 어두움을 더 사랑하고 있다.  다시 말해서, 세상은 생명을 주는 진리보다도 사망을 주는 어두움을 더 사랑하고 있는 것이다. 사도 요한은 이에 대하여, "그분 안에 생명이 있었으니 그 생명은 사람들의 빛이라. 그 빛이 어두움 속에 비치어도 어두움은 그것을 깨닫지 못하더라."(요 1:4,5)고 증거하고 있다. 그러므로 세상이 빛을 싫어하기 때문에 우리가 진리 안에서 거룩한 삶을 살 때에 세상은 그것을 싫어할 것을 주님께서 기도 가운데 말씀하신 것이다: "내가 그들에게 말씀을 주었더니 세상이 그들을 미워하였나이다. 이는 내가 세상에 속하지 아니한 것같이 그들도 세상에 속하지 아니하기 때문이옵니다."(14절)

           사도 베드로도 진리로 거룩하게 되어야 함에 대하여 증거했다: "너희가 성령을 통하여 진리에 순종함으로써 너희 혼들을 정결케 하여 가식 없는 형제 사랑에 이르렀으니 순결한 마음으로 서로 뜨겁게 사랑하라."(벧전 1:22) 그렇다! 진리에 순종할 때 구원받은 혼이 정결케 되는 것이다, 다시 말해서 혼이 정결케 되는 것이 거룩함인 것이다.

        사도 바울도 주님을 기다라고 있는 신부들을 향하여 동일한 증거를 했다: "바로 그 화평의 하나님께서 너희를 온전히 거룩하게 하시고 너희의 온 영과 혼과 몸이 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 오실 때까지 책망할 것이 없게 보존되기를 하나님께 기도하노라. 너희를 부르시는 분은 신실하시니 그가 또한 이것을 행하시리라."(살전 5:23,24)       구원받은 하나님의 제자들이며 그리스도의 신부된 사람들을 향한 하나님의 뜻은 "거룩함"인 것이다(살전 4:3). 주님께서 오실 때 까지 진리의 말씀인 성경 66권의 말씀을 다 들어 마음 안에 간직하고 그 진리 안에서 거룩한 삶을 살면서 주님 만날 준비를 하라는 것이다. 성령을 통하여 진리에 순종하는 자들이 바로 그리스도의 신부들인 것이다. 또한 이들이 주님께서 나타나실 때 그의 신부들로서 하늘에 올라갈 자들인 것이다. 또한 이들만이 그리스도께 속한 자들이며(고전 15:23) 이들은 그 육신을 욕정과 정욕과 함께 십자가에 못박은 자들이라고 사도 바울이 증거한 것이다 (갈 5:24). 하나님께서는 구원받아 거듭난 하나님의 자녀들을 온전히 거룩하게 하실 것이다.   이것이 우리가 연단을 받는 이유인 것이다. 하나님의 십계명 안에 하나님께서 우리를 거룩하게 하시는 말씀이 요약되어 있는 것이다. 십게명을 매일 마음 속에 지키며 묵상하고 그 안에서 행하는 자가 지혜로운 자인 것이다. 하나님을 온 마음과 뜻과 혼과 목숨을 다하여 사랑하고 이웃을 내 몸과 같이 사랑하는 사람이야말로 이미 십계명을 지킴으로써 거룩하게 된 사람인 것이다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: psalms 4:1-8

Main scripture: John 17:1-26

Subject: "sanctification" manifested in the final prayer of the Lord Jesus

       Now we hear the final interceding prayer of the Lord Jesus for his disciples, before he leaves the world., saying, "Father, the hour is come." The time is the one when his feet are to bruised by the Devil (Gen. 3:15). In other word, the time is come when the will of God is to be done to take away the sin of the world through his blood. And also the time is come when God is to give the life eternal unto them that believe on the Father God, and Jesus Christ sent by him (John 3:16).  In other word, the time is come when he glorifies the Father. Therefore, he prayed to the Father to glorify him through giving the eternal life for them that believe on him through his death and resurrection so that they may be the children of God as well as the brides of Christ; and this was predestined before the foundation of the world.

       Thereafter he prays for his disciples. The Lord Jesus never prays for the world, but only for them which the Father has given him, for they received the words of God, and they know have believed that the Father God has sent unto him.  In other word, they believed on Jesus as the Word, God in the beginning that was with God (John 1;1-5). The Lord Jesus is asking the Father to keep in his name so that they may be one as The Father and Jesus are one. But he eliminates Iscariot Judah, the son of perdition (John 6:70, 71).

       Now, Jesus prays for his disciples to sanctify them through his truth, for his word is truth. Jesus sanctifies himself for their sakes that they also may be sanctified through the truth. When he prays for them, he not only means his eleven disciples, but also for them also which shall believe on him through their word, that are including us. What a word of comfort for us it is!  He also prays for the reason why they may be sanctified through his word:  ^"That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world."(Vss 21-24)

       Jesus says in his prayer that his disciples can be sanctified only though the word of God. In other word, sanctification in the view  of God is to keep the word of God, and abide within it. Therefore, whosoever understand Jesus Christ, and believes on him as God, the Word in the beginning, and received the remission of sins through his blood, and purifies the heart, and saved the soul (1Pet. 1:9) should read the truth, the word of God, and hear, and meditate, and walk in the truth to be sanctified. Apostle John wrote to Gaius  who walked in the truth saying, ^"Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth."(3John 1:2-4)

        But, unfortunately,  this world is filled with the false without the truth. In other word, is full of darkness. The word of God is only the truth and the light.. But the world loves darkness more than the light. In other word, the world like the darkness that gives death rather than the truth that gives the life eternal. Apostle John testified of this:  

"In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."(John 1:4,5)

The Lord Jesus foreknew that the world hates the light; and also knew that the world shall hate us, because we  have holy life in the truth; and he mention about it saying in his prayer for us,   ^"I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world."(v14)

       Apostle Peter also testified of sanctification through the truth: "Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently."(1Pet. 1;22)

Yea! When we obey the truth, the soul shall be purified. In other word, purifying the soul is the sanctification it self.

       Apostle Paul also testified in the same manner toward the brides of Christ that are waiting upon the Lord Jesus Christ.  ^"And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it."(1Thes. 5:23,24)

       Yea!  The will of God toward the disciples and also the brides of Christ is "sanctification". We are supposed to hear the word of truth that is the scriptures of 66 books, and to keep them, and to walk in the truth, and to wait upon him until he comes. They that obey the truth through the Spirit; and they are ones that are to see the Lord Jesus in the air when he appears; and they are ones that are Christ's (1Cor. 15:23). Apostle Paul testified of them as the ones that  have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts (Gal. 5:24). God the Father shall sanctify the children of God that are born of the Spirit again and saved. This is the reason why we are disciplined from time to time. For this is will of God, even our sanctification (1Thes. 4:3)There is the summary of the word of God that sanctifies us in the Ten Commandment. The wise is the one that keeps the Ten Commandments daily, and meditate them, and walks in them.  They that love God with all their heart, and all their will, and all their soul, and all their life already have kept the Ten Commandment, and are sanctified. Amen! Hallelujah!
