금주의 묵상: 시편 40:1-17

본문: 이사야 53:1-12

제목: 성경에 나타난 예수 그리스도의 참 모습

       우리 하나님 아버지께서는 자신의 독생자이시며 태초에 말씀으로  함께 계셨으며 함께 천지를 창조하셨고, 사람을 만드실 때에 성령님과 함께 일하셨던 그분을 수백년 후에 종의 형체로 만드셔서 죄인들을 위한 대속물로 이 땅에 보내실 것을 선지자 이사야를 통하여 말씀하신 것이다. 사도 바울은 이 사실에 대하여 증거했다: "그는 하나님의 형체로 계시므로 하나님과 동등하게 되는 것을 탈취라 생각지 아니하셨으나 오히려 자신을 영예를 버리고 종의 형체를 입으시어 사람의 모습을 취하셨느니라. 그리하여 사람과 같은 모양으로 나타니셔서 자신을 낮추시고 죽음에까지 순종하셨으니 십자가의 죽음에까지라."(빌 2:6-8)

       오늘 본문에 나타나 있는 한 사람이 바로 예수라는 이름으로 이 땅에 나타나셔서 비참하게 죽으신 바로 그분이신 것이다. 그러나 그 당시 대부분의 유대인들이 그분이 하나님이신 것을 믿지 않을 것이라고 선지자 이사야는 예언하였으며 이 예언은 그대로 이루어졌다. 선지자 이사야는 하나님께서 사람이 되신 것을 "주의 팔이 누구에게 나타났느냐?"라고 표현함으로써 하나님께서 사람으로 나타나실 분이 바로 예수라고 예언한 것이다.

        우리는 예수라는 분이 어떤 사람의 모습으로 나타나셨는지 마음 속에 그림을 그려볼 수 있다. 마치 연한 싹 같고, 마른 땅에서 나온 뿌리처럼 깡 말랐으며, 그의 얼굴은 잘 생긴 모습이나 귀태는 그 어디에도 찾아볼 수 없이 못생긴 얼굴이며, 사람들에게 멸시 천대를 받으며, 어느누구 하나 그분을 받아들이지 않고 왕따 시켰으며, 항상 슬픔에 찌들린 모습이고, 모든 사람들이 그가 나타나기만 하면 피하고 어느누구도 그의 인격을 존중하지 않을 것이라고 그분의 모습을 표현함으로써 우리는 이천 년 전에 예수라는 이름으로 나타나셨던 그분의 얼굴 모습을 영적으로 볼 수 있는 것이다. 금발 머리에 파란 눈, 그리고 백인의 잘 생긴 얼굴이 아니다. 그분께서 옛날 모습으로 지금 우리 앞에 나타나신다 해도 우리 모두 역시 그분을 무시할 수밖에 없는 그런 모습인 것이다.

        그러니, 그분께서 가시괸을 쓰시고, 채찍에 맞으며, 십자가에서 양 손과 양 발에 못이 박히시고 옆구리 심장 밑에는 창으로 찔림을 받으시고 물과 피를 다 쏟으시셨을 때, 아시야의 에언대로 그가 하나님께 형벌을 받아 맞으며 고난 당한 줄로 생각할 수밖에 없었던 것이다. 그 못생기고 보잘 것 없는 사람이 피흘리고 죽었을 때 하나님께서 그를 보는 모든 사람들의 죄악을 그에게 지우셨다는 것을 알 수 있었던가? 그분께서는 바보처럼 아무 말도 없이 한 마리 어린 양처럼 떨이 다 깎이고 목에 칼이 들어와서 숨이 넘어갈 때까지 한 마디 외마디 소리도 내지 않았으니 모든 사람들은 한 바보가 비참하게 태어났다가 바보처럼 죽었다고 혀를 찼을 것이다.

       그 어느누가 하나님께서 그를 상하게 하는 것을 기쁘게 여기시며 그를 고난에 내버려두셨는지, 또한 그의 혼을 우리를 위한 속죄제물로 만드시고 앞으로 그를 믿는 자들에게 생명을 주셔서 하나님의 자녀로 만드셔서 영원히 그분과 함께 살게 하려 하셨는지 그 누가 알았던가? 사도 바울이 증거한 것처럼 그 누가 "하나님께서 죄를 알지도 못하는 그를 우리를 위하여 죄로 삼으신 것은 우리로 하여금 그 안에서 하나님의 의가 되게 하려 하심이라."(고후 5:21)는 사실을 알았던가?

       선지자 이사야의 예언대로 예수라는 이름으로 나타나신 그 사람을 알고 믿었던 사람은 극 소수에 불과했다.  사도 요한은 이에 대하여 증거하고 있다: "  그가 말하기를 '주여, 우리가 전한 것을 누가 믿었으며 주의 팔을 누구에게 나타내 보이셨나이까?' 함이라. 그러므로 그들이 믿을 수 없었던 것은 이 때문이니, 곧 이사야가 다시 말하기를 '그가 그들의 눈을 멀게 하시고 그들의 마음을 완악하게 하셨나니, 이는 그들이 눈으로 보지도 못하고 마음으로 깨닫지도 못하여 회심하지 못하게 되어 나로 그들을 치유하지 못하게 하려 함이라.' 하였음이라. 이사야가 이런 일을 말함은 그가 주의 영광을 보고 주에 관하여 말한 것이라."(요 12:38-41)

       사도 요한은 그분을 믿지 않았던 사람들에 대하여, 하나님께서 그들의 눈을 멀게 하시고 그들의 마음을 완악하게 하셔서, 그들이 눈으로 보지도 못하고 마음으로 깨닫지 못하여 회심하지 못하게 하셨다고 증거했다. 그 당시 사람들이 하나님을 거역하고 우상을 섬기며 스스로 마음을 완악하게 하였기 때문이라는 것이다. 하나님께서 선지자 이사야를 부르셨을 때 완악한 이스라엘 백성에게 보내시면서 말씀하셨다: "가서, 이 백성에게 말하기를 참으로 너희가 들으나 깨닫지 못할 것이요, 참으로 너희가 보나 알지 못하리라.' 하라. 이 백성의 마음으로 살찌게 하고, 그들의 귀로 둔하여, 마음으로 깨닫지 못하게 하며, 회심하지도 못하고, 치유받지도 못하게 하라.' 하셨더라."(사 6:9,10)

        예수님께서 유대 땅에 오셨을 때 가난한 어부들이나 창녀들이나 세리들을 찾아가셔서 자신을 나타내신 이유가 여기에 있었던 것이다. 오늘날 역시 많은 사람들이 탐심, 즉 우상숭배(골 3:5)로 마음이 살쪄서 눈이 멀고 귀가 둔하게 되어 회심하지 못하고 주님을 믿지 못하는 것 역시 하나님께서 그렇게 하신 것이다. 주님께서는 가난한 자에게 복음을 전하게 하시려고 기름부음을 받으셨으며(눅 4:18), 지금도 영육 간에 가난하여 겸손하게 된 자들에게 은혜를 주시어 자신을 알고 회심하여 믿게 하심으로써 은혜로 치유하시어 영원한 생명을 주시는 것이다. 사도 바울은 하나나님의 부르심을 받고 구원받은 성도들을 격려했다: "형제들아, 너희는 너희의 부르심을 보라. 부르심을 받은 자들은 육신을 따라 지혜로운 자가 많지 않고 권력 있는 자도 많지 않으며 좋은 가문에서 태어난 자도 많지 아니하니라. 그러나 하나님께서 세상의 어리석은 것들을 선택하심은 지혜로운 자들로 부끄럽게 하시려는 것이요, 하나님께서 세상의 약한 것들을 선택하심은 강한 것들을 부끄럽게 하시려는 것이라. 하나님께서 세상의 천한 것들과 멸시받는 것들을 선택하심은 없는 것들로 있는 것들을 쓸모없게 만들려 하심이라. 그리하여 아무 육체라도 그분의 면전에서 자랑하지 못하게 되리라. 그러나 너희는 그분께로부터 나서 그리스도 예수 안에 있고 주께서는 하나님께로부터 나셔서 우리에게 지혜와 의와 거룩함과 구속이 되셨으니 기록된 바와 같이 자랑하는 자는 주를 자랑할지니라." (고전 1:26-31)

         지금 이 순간에 마음을 내려놓고 그분 앞에 겸손하게 나아올 때에 그분께서는 은혜를 주시고 그분의 얼굴을 보게 하시며 그분께서 우리의 모든 죄를 담당하시고 죽으셨다가 부활하신 것을 깨닫게 되는 것이다. 오늘이 바로 은혜받을 날이며 구원의 날인 것이다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 40:1-17

Subject: True picture of JESUS manifested in the scripture

          Prophet Isaiah prophesied of Jesus, the only begotten Son of God  to be sent in the form of a servant as a sin offering for redemption for sinners ,which was the Word in the beginning; and was with God; and was God; and the One that created man together with God and the Holy Ghost. Apostle Paul testified of this: "Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross."(Phil. 2:6-8)

         A man shown in the main passage is the very man, "Jesus"  that came to the earth to die for sinners. Prophet Isaiah had prophesied of almost all the Jews that should not believe in him as God. His prophesy was fulfilled as he prophesied. Prophet Isaiah testified of Jesus saying, "To whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?"

        We can draw the picture of Jesus in our heart through the prophesy of Isaiah in the main passage. For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground ( he might be very skinny as a man of malnutrition); he hath no form nor comeliness (not handsome, but rather ugly?); He is despised and rejected of men (excluded by the community); a man of sorrow, and acquainted with grief: and hid by men; and he was despised; no one esteemed him. This is the true picture of Jesus. He didn't have blond hair nor blue eyes nor white skin. Even though he appears before us now, he could be rejected by us too.

       When he put on the crown of thorn, and received the stripe, and he was nailed on his hands and feet, and his side that is under the heart pierced by the spear, and shed blood and water, men must have thought that he was stricken, smitten of God as prophet Isaiah prophesied. How can the Jews understand him as the one that carried all their sins on his body? They must have thought, he died in vain as a fool, because he didn't open his mouth as a lamb to the slaughter and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so opened not his mouth even though the knife cut his neck. They must have thought of him as a fool that died for nothings in vain.

        Who could understand that it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief; when God shall make his soul an offering for sin, and he shall see his seed that shall be children of God through his blood so that they may live forever? Who could understand the truth as Apostle Paul testified saying,

"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."(2Cor. 5:21)

         As the prophesy of Isaiah, at that time, only a few understood who Jesus was. Apostle John testified of this: "But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him: That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again, He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him."(John 12:37-41)

        Of them that not believed in him, God blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and converted. At that time when Jesus was among the Jews, they rejected him to worshipped idols, and hardened their heart. When the LORD God called Isaiah, he sent him to the people of Israel and said to him:  "Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed."(Isa. 6:9,10)

       When Jesus came to the land of Judea, he visited fishermen, whores, and publicans to revel himself, for they were ready to receive him as the Lord. Even nowadays, the Lord Jesus still makes men blinded, and makes them deaf so that they may not be converted without faith in him, because they are worshipping idols that is covetousness (Col. 3:5). The Lord Jesus was anointed for preaching to the poor (Luke 4:18); even nowadays, he is willing to give grace unto them that is poor financially and spiritually so that they may believe on him to be converted to be saved unto the life eternal. Apostle Paul encouraged the saints called by the Lord Jesus unto salvation: "For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption. That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord."(1Cor. 1:26-31)

       At this moment, when we come forward humbly before him putting our heart down, he shall give grace so that we may see his face in spirit, and we shall understand that he died for our sins and rose again for our salvation. This is the reason why today is the day for the grace and salvation for us. Amen! Hallelujah!
