금주의 묵상: 시편 126:1-6

본문: 요한복음 6:27-40

제목: 예수님의 음식을 먹고 사는가? 아니면, 썩는 음식만을 먹기 위하여 살고 있는가?

        첫사람 아담이 범죄한 이후로 이 지구를 통치하던 왕의 권세를 상실하게 되었으며 얼굴에 땀을 흘려야 목숨을 연명하는 신세가 되었다. 뿐만 아니라 에덴에서 쫓겨나게 되어 하나님의 얼굴을 볼 수도 없게 되었다. 그때부터 세상에 태어나는 모든 사람은 하나님을 볼 수도 알 수도 없는 저주 가운데 살 수밖에 없었다. 단지 예수 그리스도를 믿고 성령을 받아 하나님의 자녀가 된 사람들만이 그분을 뵈올 날을 기다리는 믿음의 여정을 살고 있는 것이다.  

       우리가 반드시 알아야 하는 아주 중요한  한 가지 사실이 있다면,  하나님께서 첫 사람 아담을 창조하셨을 당시에는 하나님께서 그 사람을 데려다가 에덴의 동산에 두시고 그것을 관리하고 지키면서 동산에서 나는 모든 나무에서 나는 것을 마음대로 먹으면서 행복하게 살라고 하셨다. 다시 말해서, 사람이 하나님께 죄를 짓기 전에는 하나님의 동산 안에 있는 하나님의 왕국 안에서 먹을 것 걱정없이 의와 화평과 기쁨 (롬 14:17)가운에 삶을 마음껏 누릴 수 있었던 것이다. 그러나 죄가 세상에 들어 온 후부터는 사람이 통치하던 땅과 모든 만물들이 함께 저주받아 땅이 먹을 것들을 내는 대신에 가시나무와 엉겅퀴를 내게 되어  사람들은 전 생애 동안 고통 중에서 소산을 먹어야 하는 저주 가운데 살게 되었다. 그리하여 육신이 죽는 순간까지 목숨을 위하여 일하지 않으면 목숨이 위태로운 삶을 살게 된 것이다 (창 3:17-19).

       본문에서 주님께서는 먹을 것을 구하기 위해 자신을 따라오는 무리들을 향하여 말씀하셨다: "썩는 음식을 위하여 일하지 말고 영생에 이르는 음식을 위하여 일하라. 인자가 너희에게 그것을 주리니, 이는 아버지 하나님께서 그를 인치셨기 때문이라."(요 6:27) 그들은 입으로 들어가는 썩는 음식만을 생각하는 죄인들인지라 그 말씀이 무슨 뜻인지 몰랐다. 일찌기 주님께서 수가 성에 있는 한 여인을 만나시던 날 제자들에게 말씀하신 적이 있었다. 한 여인이 그리스도에 대하여 외쳤을 때 그 성에 사는 사람들이 성읍에서 나와 예수께로 나아왔을 때, 예수께서  "나의 음식은 나를보내신 분의 뜻을 행하고 그분의 일을 완성하는 것이라. 너희가 아직 넉 달이 있어야 추수할 때가 된다고 말하지 아니하느냐? 보라, 내가 너희에게 말하노니 눈을 들어 밭을 보라. 이는 곡식이 추수하도록 이미 하얗게 되었음이라. 또 거두는 사람은 삯을 받고 영원한 생명에 이르는 열매를 모으느니라. 이는 뿌리는 사람과 거두는 사람이 다 함께 즐거워하려 함이니라. 이렇듯 한 사람이 심고 한 사람이 거둔다는 말이 옳도다."(요 4:34-37)라고 말씀하셨다.

       이 말씀은 제자들이 먹을 것을 구하러 성읍에 들어갔다가 성읍에 있는 사람들이 예수께로 나오는 것을 보면서도 여전히 입으로 들어가는 음식만을 생각하면서 예수님께 음식을 드리면서 간청하던 제자들에게 "나에게는 너희가 알지 못하는 먹을 음식이 있느니라."(요 4:32)고 말씀하셨지만 그들은 여전히 썩는 음식만을 생각하면서 누군가가 먹을 것을 주님께 갖다 드렸는가 하면서 서로 말하고 있을 때 하신 말씀인 것이다.

      오늘 주님의 말씀을 듣고 있는 우리들은 어떤 음식을 먹으면서 생활하고 있는지 생각해 보아야 할 것이다. 주님을 믿지 않는 세상 사람들이 먹는 음식은 주님이 보실 때에는 음식이 아니고 썩은 것으로 여기시기 때문이다. 다시 말해서 우리가 주님께서 잡수시던 음식을 먹고 살지 않고 있다면 우리는 아무런 음식도 먹지 않고 썩을 것만 위하여 일하며 쓰레기만을 입으로 넣고 사는 바, 세상 사람과 조금도 다를 것이 없는 것이 얘기가 된다는 것이다. 주님께서 이 세상에 계시는 동안 잡수시던 음식을 먹는 길은 "우리를 보내신 주님의 뜻을 행하고 그분의 일을 완성하는 것"이라는 말씀이다. 사도 바울은 주님의 뜻에 대하여 증거했다:

"하나님께서는 모든 사람이 구원을 받고 진리의 지식에 이르기를 원하시느니라."(딤전 2:4)

      그렇다! 하나님의 뜻을 행하는 일은 삯을 받고 영원한 생명에 이르는 열매를 모으는 것이다(요 4:36).  영원한 생명에 이른 열매를 거두는 사람은 하나님께서 반드시 삯을 지불하신다는 것이다. 이에 대하여 주님께서는 이미 유대인들에게 말씀하신 바 있다: "그러므로 무엇을 먹을까, 무엇을 마실까, 또 무엇을 입을까 하고 말하며 염려하지 말라. (이런 것들은 이방인들이 구하는 것이라.) 하늘에 계신 아버지께서는 너희에게 이런 모든 것이 필요한 줄 아시느니라. 오직 너희는 먼저 하나님의 나라와 그분의 의를 구하라. 그리하면 이 모든 것을 너희에게 더해 주시리라. 그러므로 내일을 위하여 염려하지 말라. 내일 일은 내일 염려할 것이요, 그 날의 재앙은 그 날로 충분하니라."(마 6:31-34)

      오늘 본문에서, 주님께서 먹을 것을 구하기 위하여 자신을 따라오는 무리들을 향하여  "썩는 음식을 위하여 일하지 말고 영생에 이르는 음식을 위하여 일하라."는 말씀을 하셨을 때, "우리가 하나님의 일을 하려면 무엇을 해야 하리이까?"라고 그들이 대답했다. 그때에 주님께서는 어떤일을 해야 할 것을 말씀하시지 않으시고  "이것이 하나님의 일이니, 즉 그분이 보내신 이를 너희가 믿는 것이라."고 말씀하신 것이다. 그들은 여전히 주님께서 말씀하신 뜻을 깨닫지 못하고 어떤 일을 해야만 영원히 배고프지 않을 어떤 음식을 주시는 줄로만 알았던 것이다. 마치 수가 성 여인이 영원히 목마르지 않을 어떤 물을 구했던 것처럼 말이다. 그들은 여전히 육신의 목숨만을 위한 음식이나 물을 요구했던 것이다. 그러나 주님께서는 자신을 믿는 것이 하나님의 일이며 그것이 영생에 이르는 음식이라고 말씀하신 것이다.

         그렇다면, 주님께서 하신 말씀은 우리에게 어떤 깨달음을 주시는가?  주님을 온전히 믿어 성령님이 거하시는 몸이 되지 않고서는 예수께서 잡수시던 음식을 먹을 수가 없다는 것이 아니겠는가?  다시 말해서 성령으로 다시 태어난 그리스도인이 되어야만 육신은 비록 썩는 음식을 먹고 살지만 거듭난 영은 영생에 이르는 음식을 먹을 수 있으며 하나님의 일을 할 수 있다는 것이다. 그러므로 주님을 온전히 믿는 사람만이 먼저 하나님의 나라와 하나님의 의를 구할 수 있는 것이다. 주님께서도 육신의 음식을 잡수시기 전에 먼저 자신의 왕국을 위하여 일하신 것이다. 그러나 제자들은 먼저 썩을 양식을 구하러 성읍으로 나갔던 것이다. 그러므로 진정으로 거듭나서 온전히 주님을 신뢰하는 사람은 육신의 어떤 일보다도 하나님의 일이 우선이 되어 하나님의 일을 할 수 있는 것이다. 그러나 사탄은 사람들이 썩을 양식을 버는 일에 바쁘게 만들 뿐 아니라 육신의 정욕과 인목의 정욕과 이생의 자랑을 부추겨서 먼저 하나님의 말씀을 듣지 못하도록 하며 죽을 때까지 썩는 음식을 위하여 일하다가 몸이 죽게 만들어 영원히 지옥으로 가게 만드는 것이다.

         영생에 이르는 열매를 모으는 하나님의 일을 하는 사람들에게 삯을 주시는 주님을 믿는가? 육신의 일보다 먼저 하나님의 일을 우선적으로 할 때 육신의 것들을 더해 주시는 하나님을 믿는가? 그렇다면, 분명히 지금  당신은 하나님의 일을 하고 있는 것이다. 그러나 만일 그렇지 않다면, 여전히 썩는 음식만을 위하여 일하고 있는지 깊이 생각해 보아야 할 것이다.

주님께서는 자신을 믿지 않는 것이 죄라고 말씀하셨다 (요 16:9). 또한 사도 바울은 로마에 있는 성도들에게 "믿음으로 아니하는 모든 것이 죄"(롬 14:23)라고 증거했다.  아멘! 할렐루야

Meditation of the week: psalms 126:1-6

Main scripture: John 6:27-40

Subject: Are you eating the meat of Jesus? Or, living only for the corruptible meat?

       Since the first man sinned, man has lost the authority of ruler of the earth; and no one can survive unless he shed sweat on the face. Being cast out of the Mount Eden, man cannot see God anymore. Since then, all men could not see God, but rather in curses they have to abide. Only they that believe on the Lord Jesus Christ have been living by faith in the hope of seeing him in the future.

       If there is a very important thing that we should know, it is that God commanded man to live happily managing the Mount Eden and keep it; and eating all the fruits from all the trees freely. In other word, before man sinned, man could have abundant life in the kingdom of God without any worry and concern, but rather in the midst of righteousness, peace and joy (Rom. 14:17).  But unfortunately, since sin came to the earth, the earth and all things therein have been cursed because of the sin of man; and thorns also thistles have been bringing forth to man. Cursed was the ground for Adam's sake; and in sorrow shall man eat of eat all the days of life. Since then, all men have been vulnerable of surviving unless they work for their life at the moment of death (Gen. 3:17-19)

       In the main passage, Jesus spoke unto them that followed him for meat: "Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed."(John 6:27)

They were only sinners that think of corruptible meat for their stomach; and so they couldn't understand his word. In the day when Jesus met with a woman in Suchar in Samaria, Jesus spoke unto his disciples when men living in the city came to him upon hearing the woman crying for Christ: "My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth."(John 4:34-37)

         At that day, his disciples went into the city for food, and came back to Jesus asking him to eat thinking of only the meat for their stomach. Then Jesus said into them, "I have meat to eat that ye know not of." But they were still thinking of the corruptible meat; and they said one to another, has any man brought him meat to eat?

       Now we also are hearing the word of the Lord Jesus. What kind of meat are we eating for living? The meat that is taken by the people in the world is considered as corruptible one in the view of God. In other word, if we are not eating the meat that was taken by the Lord, we shall be ending up taking only trashes into the mouth not eating any meat; and we are indifferent from the people in the world. Then how can we eat the meat of Jesus while he was in the earth? It is to do the will of him that sent us, and to finish his work. Apostle Paul testified of the will of God: "Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth."(1Tim. 2:4)

       Yea! To do the will of God is to reap and gather fruit unto life eternal receiving wages (John 4:36). In other word, God shall pay the wages unto them that gather the fruits unto the life eternal. Of this issue, Jesus had already spoken unto the Jews:

"Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof."(Matt. 6:31-34)

         In the main passage, Jesus spoke unto the crowd that followed him for meat saying, "Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life." Then they asked him, "What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?"  Jesus never mentioned to do something, but said unto them, "This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent."

They still didn't understand his word, but rather they thought to do something for eternal meat that never given them hunger anymore as the woman in Samaria asked Jesus for  the water that shall not give thirst anymore. They were still asking the meat and water for their physical life. Jesus answered  unto them, "To believe on him is to be the eternal meat."

       Then, how we understand the word of Jesus today? There s no way to eat the meat that was taken by Jesus, unless man trust in him in all the heart to be the temple of the Holy Ghost. In other word, only the Christian that is born of the Spirit can eat the meat unto the life eternal to the work of God, eve though he eat the corruptible food for his body. Therefore, only they that trust in the Lord in all the heart could seek the kingdom of God in the first priority. Even the Lord Jesus worked for his kingdom before he ate the physical food. But his disciples went into the city to buy the corruptible meat for their body first. Therefore, they that are born of the Spirit, and trust in the Lord can do the work of God prior to any kind of physical work. But the Satan is still working so hard to make men be busy for the corruptible meat, and make them pursue the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of the life so that they may not hear the word of God; and he makes them seek the corruptible meat for their whole life unto death to take them to the hell with him.

        Do you believe that God will give the wages unto them that reap and gather the fruits unto the life eternal? And do you believe that all the physical meat shall be added on to you, when you do the work of God first? Then, definitely you are doing the work of God. If not, you must have been working only for the corruptible meat. Jesus clearly rebuked the world of sin, because they not believe on him (John 16:9)

Apostle Paul testified of sin unto the saints in Rome saying,

  "….. for whatsoever is not of faith is sin."(Rom. 14;23)
