금주의 묵상: 시편 25:1-22

본문: 베드로전서 4:1-11

제목: 육체의 고난이 주는 축복

       사도 베드로는 육체의 고난을 받은 자가 죄로부터 단절되었다고 증거하고 있다. 그는 첫째로 그리스도께서 육체로 고난을 받으셨다고 말씀하고 있다. 이는 그리스도께서 고난받으시고 육신이 죽으심으로써 그분의 죽으심이 자신의 죄들을 위한 것으로 믿으며 회개하고 그분을 영접하여 성령으로 거듭나는 사람은 법적으로 모든 죄로부터 단절되어 그리스도의 보혈을 통하여 의롭다함을 얻었음을 증거하고 있다. 또한 그분을 믿음으로써 의롭게 된 사람이 세상을 살면서 받는 육체의 고난도 죄로부터 단절되는 축복으로 인도한다는 또 한 가지 진리를 증거하고 있는 것이다.

       성경에서 육체의 고난을 통하여 죄로부터 단절되고 정결케 된 사람들의 예가 욥기에 나타난 욥의 경우와, 시편에서 다윗의 예를 들 수 있을 것이다. 욥이나 다윗의 경우 모두가 모진 육체의 고통을 받는 모습을 볼 수 있다. 욥의 경우나 다윗의 경우 모두 육체의 고난을 통하여 마음 속 깊은 곳에 있는 모든 죄들을 다 토해내어 정결케 되는 축복을 받았다.

      하나님을 믿지 않는 사람의 경우에는 극심한 육체의 고통 속에서 대부분의 사람들은 더욱 악해져서 하나님을 모독하는 사람들이 대부분이지만 간혹 회개하고 하나님을 찾는 사람들도 있다. 가장 좋은 예로 옛날 바빌론의 느부갓네살 왕의 경우를 볼 수 있다. 그가 온 세상을 통치하는 강대국을 이루었을 때 "이것이 내가 내 권세의 힘으로 내 위엄의 영예를 위하여 왕국의 집을 건설한 위대한 바빌론이 아니냐?"(단 4:30)라고 교만하게 말하고 있을 때에, 그 말이 왕의 입에서 아직 있을 때에 하늘에서 한 음성이 나서 말씀하시기를 "오 느부갓네살왕아, 네게 말하노니, 그 왕국이 네게서 떠났느니라."(단 4:31)고 말씀하셨다. 바로 그 시간에 그가 사람들에게 쫓겨나서 소처럼 풀을 먹고 그의 몸이 하늘의 이슬로 젖었으며 그의 머리털은 독수리의 깃털같이 자랐고 그의 손톱은 새들의 발톱과 같이 되고 말았다. 그가 칠 년동안 극심한 육체의 고통을 받고 있을 때 자신이 교만함을 깨닫고 하늘을 향해 그의 눈을 들었다. 이때에 그의 명철이 그에게 돌아왔으며, 하나님을 향하여 "지극히 높으신 분을 송축하며 영원히 사시는 분을 찬양하고 존경하였으니 그분의 통치권은 영원한 통치권이요 그분의 왕국은 대대에 이르리로다. 땅의 모든 거민은 아무 것도 아닌 것으로 여겨지나, 그분께서는 하늘의 군대에 있어서나 땅의 거민 가운데서나 자신의 뜻에 따라 행하시나니, 그분의 손을 치거나 그분께 말하기를 '당신은 무엇을 하는가?' 할 자가 아무도 없도다."(단 4:34,35)  라고 회개하며 하나님을 높였을 때 그 즉시 그의 백성이 다시 그에게로 돌아와서 그의 왕국을 다시 찾게 되었던 것이다.      

      우리들 그리스도인들 역시 이 땅에 사는 동안 여러가지 고난들을 통과하면서 깊은 회개를 통하여 속 사람이 더욱 더 정결케 되어야 하는 바, 이를 위해서는 하나님의 전신갑옷으로 무장함으로써 사탄에게 속아서 하나님께 원망하며 불평하지 말고  오히려 감사함으로써 자신의 죄들을 자백하여 정결한 그리스도인으로서 준비되어야 할 것이다. 뿐만 아니라 다른 사람들의 허물을 드러내지 말고 덮어줌으로써 그들의 허물을 주님께서 직접 다루시도록 맡겨드리며 자비한 마음으로 뜨겁게 사랑하면서 받은 은사대로 서로 열심히 섬겨야 하는 것이다.  

      하나님의 자녀들이 고난받을 때에 관하여 성령 안에서  책을 기록한 호레이셔스 보나르( Horatious Bonar)는 이렇게 말했다: "병들어 눕게 되면 한 편으로 밀려나 하나님과만 달랑 혼자 남게 된다. 지금까지 나를 버텨주던 모든 것들은 떠나 버리고, 이제는 별 수 없이 하나님 한 분께만 의지하고 사는 법을 터득하게 된다. 고난에 처하지 않고서는  이런 은혜를 누릴 기회가 별로 없다."  

      하나님께서 지혜와 명철을 주시지 않으면 어느누구나 교만하게 되지 않을 수 없게 되는 것이다. 지혜와 명철은 하나님을 두려워하면서 하나님의 뜻을 깨닫는 마음이기 때문이다. 선지자 이사야는 지혜와 명철이 어디로부터 오는가에 대하여 증거했다: "주의 영이 그의 위에 머물리니 지혜와 명철의 영이요, 계획과 능력의 영이며, 지식과 주를 두려워하는 영이라."(사 11:2)   그렇다! 하나님의 영인 성령을 받지 않고서는 하나님을 두려워할 수도 없고 하나님의 뜻을 알 수도 없기에 하나님 앞에 교만하게 행하며 육신을 따라 살 수밖에 없는 것이다. 느부갓네살왕은 지혜와 명철이 없었기에 하나님께서 자신에게 당대에 큰 영광스러운 왕국을 맡겨주신  뜻을 깨댇지 못하고 교만히 행하다가 짐승처럼 풀을 먹으면서 칠년이나 살았던 것이다.  그러나 그가 극심한 육체의 고난 속에서 하나님을 향하여 눈을 들어 회개하엿을 때  명철을 받고 자신이 아무 것도 아닌 것을 깨닫고 하나님을 송축했던 것이다.

      그러면 지금 하나님께서는 어디에 계신가? 이 땅에 세우신 교회의 머리가 되셨다. 다시 말해서 우리의 주이시며 하나님이신 주 예수 그리스도께서 교회의 머리로서 우리와 함께 계시는 것이다. 그러기에 교회는 그분의 몸이며 우리는 그의 ㅈ몸의 지체들인 것이다. 그러므로, 교회 안에 있는 지체들에게 죄를 짓는 것은 하나님께 죄를 짓는 것이며 교회의 지체들을 사랑하지 않고 비방하며 허물을 들춰내는 것이야말로 하나님의 몸을 상처나게 하는 것이다. 성도들의 허물은 머리되신 주님께서 직접 다루시며 회개하게 하신다는 사실을 잊어서는 안될 것이다.  성도들의 허물을 덮어주는 것은 모른채 한다는 뜻이 아니고 하나님께 맡겨드린다는 의미인 것이다.

       교회 안에도 아직도 하나님의 영을 받지 못하여 지혜와 명철이 없는 사람들이 있게 마련이다. 이들은 지헤와 명철이 없기에 교회 안에서 교만하게 행하며 사람들을 판단하고 허물을 드러내며 이간하고 당을 짓는 일들을 하게 되는 것이다. 하나님께서는 이런 사람들로 하여금   하나님의 명철을 주셔서 하나님의 뜻을 깨닫고 회개하게 하시려고 육체의 고난을 허락하시는 것을 알아야 하는 것이다.  육체의 고난이 올 때에는 즉시 무릎을 꾾고  주님을 부르며 회개할 죄들을 찾을  때에 하나님께서는 느부갓네살에게 즉시 응답하신 것처럼  즉시 응답하시는 것이다. 느부갓네살왕이 회개할 때까지 무려 칠년이 걸린 것은 그가 그 정도로 교만했기 때문인 것이다. 오늘날에도 교회 안에서 주님의 몸을 손상하고 지체들을 핍박하는 사람들이 회개하지 않음으로 인해 영문도 모르고 육체로 고난 받다가 회개하지 않고 교회를 떠나는 사람이 얼마나 많은가?

       그러므로 성령을 받아 거듭난 사람만이 지혜와 명철을 가지고 하나님의 뜻대로 행함으로써 성령의 열매를 맺을 수 있는 것이다. 성령께서 주시는 은사들을 받았는가?(고전 12장, 롬 14장)   그 받은 은사들을 사용하여 선한 청지기들로서 성도들을 섬기고 있는가? 입만 열면 하나님의 말씀만이 나오는가? 하나님께서 주시는 능력으로 섬기고 있는가? 주님께서는 십자가에서 죽으신 후 삼일 동안 그의 혼이 지옥까지 내려가셔서 우리의 모든 죄들을 던져버리시고 지옥문을 잠그신 후에 나오셔서 (시 16:10,마 12:39,40; 16:18,미 7:19) 육신이 죽어서 아브라함의 품에서 메시야를 기다리고 있는 구약성도들에게까지 가셔서 친히 복음을 전하시면서 그들을 섬기셨던 것이다(엡 4:8-10)  만물의 마지막이 가까웠으니 우리는 정신을 차리고 깨어 기도하면서 허다한 허물을 덮으면서 서로 뜨겁게 사랑해야 하는 것이다.하나님의 전신갑옷을 입고 정신을 차리고 기도함으로써 죄와 단절된 사람을 살아야 하는 것이다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 25:1-22

Main scripture: 1Peter 4;1-11

Subject: Blessing through suffering in the flesh

       Apostle Peter testifies that he that has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin. He talks about the suffering of Christ in flesh and death on the cross that give them separation from sins spiritually that believes Christ died for their sins, and repent to believe on him. Whosoever be born again of the Spirit has ceased from sin legally through justification through the blood of Christ. And he also testifies of the truth; they that are justified through faith in Christ can cease from sin through suffering in flesh.

         There are the examples of man that ceased from sin through suffering in flesh; they are Job and King David. Both of them experienced extreme suffering in flesh; and they repented sins from their deep in the heart to be purified thoroughly.

       In the case of non-believers, almost all people that suffer extremely in flesh are getting more wicked not to repent but blaspheme God. But there is some exception. Taking  a good example, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon repented unto God after he suffered extremely in flesh. When he made his kingdom that ruled the whole world, he spoke to himself with pride, "Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?"(Dan. 4:30) While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, " O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee."(Dan. 4:31)

       The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like as birds' claws. In the midst of extreme suffering in flesh for seven years, finally he understood his arrogance, and lifted up his eyes unto heaven, and his understanding returned unto him, and he spoke unto God saying, "Bless the most High, and praise and honour him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:

And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?"(Dan. 4:34,35)

At the same time, his counsellors  and his lords sought unto him; and he established in his kingdom again.

       Our inner man is supposed to be purified more and more through various sufferings in flesh and deep repentance; for this we are supposed to wear the whole armor of God so that we may not complain nor  murmur unto God, but give thanks unto the Lord not deceived by the Devil to be ready as pure Christians. We also have to cover the multitude of sins for others instead of revealing them so that the Lord may take of their sins; and minister them using the gifts of the Holy Ghost as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

       Horatious Bonar wrote a book in the Spirit about the suffering of the children of God; he commented in the preface of the book saying, "Lying on bed in sickness, I happen to be alone only with God totally separated from other people. Nothing left that have supported me, I finally start to learn how to rely only God. There is no opportunity for me to have such kind of grace unless I am left in suffering."

       No one cannot help being pride, unless God gives wisdom and understanding, for the wisdom and understanding is the mind of fearing God and knowing the will of God. Prophet Isaiah testified of the wisdom and understanding: "And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;"(Isa. 11;2)    

Yea! Unless  we receive the Spirit of God, there is no way for us to fear the Lord, and understanding the will of God, but we are to be arrogant following the flesh. King Nebuchadnezzar didn't know the wisdom and understanding at all, he couldn't understand the will of God why God had given his glorious kingdom so that he acted in his pride; and he had to live as oxen eating grass for seven years. But through his extreme suffering in flesh, finally he repented and lifted his eyes unto heaven to repent; and received understanding and bless the LORD God.

      Now where is God? He became the head of his church. In other word, the Lord Jesus Christ is with us in the church as the head of us. This is the reason why the church is his body, and we are the members of his body.  Therefore, if we sin against the member of his body, we are resulted in sinning against him. We also are resulted in hurting his body when we hate other members with gossiping, and reveal other's sins. The sins of the members shall be dealt by the Lord directly so that he leads them to repent. Covering the sins of other members doesn't mean to ignore them, but to put them in the hand of the Lord.

       There could be someone that have not received the Spirit of God so that they may have not received the wisdom and understanding yet. They could behave themselves acting in pride, and judge others, and divide the members. This is the reason why God allow them suffer in flesh so that they may understand the will of God through repentance. Upon suffering in flesh, we have to kneel down right away, and call the name of the Lord to repent; then God shall answer us immediately as he did unto Nebuchadnezzar. It took his seven years until he repented, for he was so much arrogant before God. Even nowadays, how many people leave the church not repenting their sins of hurting the church even in the suffering in flesh?

       Therefore, only they that are born again of the Spirit of God could walk in the will of God through wisdom and understanding, and bear the fruit of the Spirit. have you received the gifts of the Spirit?(1Cor. 12, Rom. 14) Are you ministering the members of the church using the gifts as good steward of God?  Are you speaking the words of God whenever you open your mouth? Are you ministering as of the ability which God gives?  Our Lord Jesus went down to the hell that is the heart of the earth for three days and three nights after he died on the cross, and dumped all our sins therein, and shut the door of the hell and came out of it (Ps. 16:10, Matt. 12:39,40; 16:18, Micah 7:19); and he even preached the gospel unto the saints of the Old Testament who were in the bosom of Abraham  after they died long time ago in flesh to minister them (Eph. 4:8-10). The end of all things is at hand: we should be sober, and watch unto prayer. And above all things we have to have fervent charity among ourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. We also have to wear the whole armor of God to cease from sins. Amen! Hallelujah!
