금주의 묵상: 시편 32:1-11

본문: 로마서 4:1-8

제목: 모든 죄를 용서받아 의롭게 되는 믿음

       성령께서는 사도 바울을 통하여 믿음으로 의롭게 되는 일에 대하여 아브라함의 예를 들어 증거하고 있다. 또한 성경이 말씀하시는 믿음에 대하여 "아브라함이 하나님을 믿었더니 그것이 그에게 의로 여겨졌느니라."라고 증거하고 있다. 다시 말해서 그가 하나님을 믿었을 때 그가 다른 아무런 일을 하지 않았는데도 그 믿음 자체로 말미암아 그가 죄없는 의인이 되었다는 말씀인 것이다. 그렇다면, 그가 살인이나 다른 큰 죄를 지었는데도 그가 단지 하나님을 믿었다는 이유 때문에 그가 의롭다고 여겨졌다는 말이 아닌가? 살인이나 간음 같은 죄들을 진 적이 없는 착한 사람이 이 말씀을 듣는다면 마음에 화가 치밀지도 모른다. 하나님을 불공평한 자로 여기면서 그런 하나님을 믿기가 싫어질 것이다.

      모든 사람은 죄인으로 태어났으면서도 자신이 의인인 것처럼 착각하면서 살다가 어느날 갑자기 생각지 못한 큰 죄를 짓게 될 때에 비로소 자신이 누구인지 깨닫게 되는 것을 본다. 그 가장 좋은 예로 다윗왕을 들 수 있을 것이다. 그는 진정 선한 사람이었다. 그러기에 그는 기도할 때 마다 자신의 의를 주장하면서 하나님께 간구하였다. 그러나 그가 어느날 갑자기 간음죄와 살인죄를 짓게 되었을 때 "보소서, 내가 죄악 중에 조성되었고 죄 중에서 내 어머니가 나를 배었나이다."(시 51:5)라는 고백을 드리게 되었던 것이다. 주님께서 육신으로 이 땅에 오셨을 때에도 많은 종교인들이 자신의 의를 주장하면서 예수 그리스도를 영접하지 않았지만 그 당시 창녀들이나 세리들 같은 죄인들만이 주님께 나아와서 주님을 믿음으로 영접하였던 것이다.주님께서는 유대인들을 향하여 분명하게 말씀하셨다: "진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니 세리들과 창녀들이 너희보다 먼저 하나님의 나라에 들어갈 것이니라."(마 21:31)고 말씀하셨던 것이다.

      사도 바울은 본문에서 하나님께 대한 믿음에 대하여 다시 한 번 더 강조하기를 "행함이 없어도 불경건한 자를 의롭다 하시는 그분을 믿는 사람에게는 그의 믿음이 의로 여겨지느니라."(롬 4:5) 이 말씀이 무슨 말인가? 어떤 선한 일을 한 번도 하지 않은 사람이 엄청난 큰 죄들을 지었는데도 단지 예수 그리스도께서 흘리신 보혈 안에 있는 은혜와 하나님의 사랑을 회개함으로 받아들이기만 한다면 하나님께서 그 사람의 모든 죄들을 용서하시며 그의 믿음을 의롭다고 여기신다는 말씀이 아닌가? 그러나 여전히 자신의 의를 주장하는 사람들은 그 말씀을 믿기 싫어하는 것이다.

      율법 하에 살았던 다윗왕은 앞으로 하나님의 아들 예수 그리스도께서 육신으로 나타나셔서 모든 세상 죄를 제거하심을 믿고 의롭게 될 사람들을 향하여 그들이 받을 복이 얼마나 큰 것에 대해 성령 안에서 증거하고 있다: "행함이 없어도 하나님께서 의롭다고 여기시는 사람의 복에 관하여 다윗도 말하였으니 말하기를 '죄악들이 용서받고 죄들이 가려진 사람들은 복이 있고 주께서 죄를 인정하지 아니하실 사람은 복이 있도다."(롬 4:6,7, 시 32:1,2)

       본문에서 사람이 의롭게 되는 믿음에 대하여 아브라함의 예를 통하여 설명하고 있는 바 성경에서 말씀하시는 아브라함의 믿음은 어떤 믿음인가? 한 마디로 요약한다면 아브라함은 하나님께서 하시는 말씀을 모두 믿었다. 자신의 생각을 버리고 믿었던 것이다. 그렇다면 하나님께서 어떤 말씀을 하셨는가?

"너는  네 고향과 네 친족과 네 아비의 집을 떠나 네게 보여줄 땅으로 가라. 내가 너로 큰 민족을 이루게 할 것이며 네게 복을 주고 네 이름을 위대하게 하리니, 너는 복이 되리라. 너를 축복하는 자들에게 내가 복을 주고 너를 저주하는 자를 저주하리라. 네 안에서 땅의 모든 족속들이 복을 받을 것이라."(창 12:1-3)

아브라함은 칠십오 세가 되었어도 자신의 소생이 전혀 없는 가운데서도 하나님을 믿었다. 그리고 떠났다.

       그때로부터 십년이 넘은 어느날 하나님께서 환상 가운데서 아브라함에게 말씀하셨다. 그는 팔십이 훨씬 넘은 나이에도 여전히 아들이 없었다. 그럼에도 하나님께서는 아브라함을 밤에 밖으로 데려나가시어 그에게 말씀하셨다: "이제 하늘을 쳐다보고 별들을 셀 수 있다면 그 별들을 세어 보아라. 너의 씨가 이와같이 되리라."(창 15:5)

아브라함이 주를 믿으니 그것을 그에게 의로 여기셨다고 성경은 말씀하고 있는 것이 아닌가?(창 15:6)

       하나님께서는 오늘날 은혜 시대에 살고 있는 우리들에게도 말씀하신다. 하나님께서 사람이 되셔서 세상 죄를 제거하시기 위하여 십자가에서 피흘리시고 죽으시고 셋째 날에 살아나신 후 성령께서 이 땅에 오신 은혜 시대에 하나님을 믿음으로써 의롭게 되기 위하여 주신 말씀은 무엇인가? 주님께서 친히 말씀하셨다: "모세가 광야에서 뱀을 들어올린 것 같이 인자도 그렇게 들려올려져야만 하리니 이는 그를 믿는 사람은 누구든지 멸망하지 않고 영생을 얻게 하려 함이니라. 하나님께서 세상을 이처럼 사랑하셔서 그의 독생자를 주셨으니, 이는 그를 믿는 사람은 누구든지 멸망하지 않고 영생을 얻게 하려 하심이니라."(요 3:14-16)

"아들을 믿는 자는 영생을 가졌고 그 아들을 믿지 않는 자는 생명을 보지 못하고 오히려 하나님의 진노가 그 사람 위에 머물러 있느니라."(요 3:36)

과연 영생을 받기 위하여 주님께서 어떤 행함을 요구하셨는가? 아니지 않은가? 무조건적인 하나님의 사랑과 예수 그리스도의 은혜가 아닌가?

        주님으로부터 직접 복음에 관해서 들었던 사도 바울은 에베소 교회의 성도들에게 복음에 대하여 더욱 확실하게 증거했다: " 너희가 믿음으로 말미암아 은혜로 구원을 받았으니 이것은 너희에게서 난 것이 아니요 하나님의 선물이라. 행위에서 난 것이 아니니 아무도 자랑하지 못하게 하려 하심이라."(엡 2:8,9)

예수 그리스도께서 구원을 이루신 후에 성령께서 이 땅에 오시면 죄에 대하여 이 세상을 책망하실 것을 말씀하시면서 "죄에 대하여라 함은 그들이 나를 믿지 않기 때문이요."(요 16:9)라고 분명하게 말씀하셨다.

       그렇다면 예수 그리스도를 믿지 않는 것이 과연 무엇인가?  이에 대하여 침례인 요한은 예수 그리스도에 대하여 "보라, 세상 죄를 제거하는 하나님의 어린 양이라."(요 1:29) 또한 사도 바울은 죄를 제거하신 예수 그리스도에 대하여 "그 뜻에 따라 모든 사람을 위하여 한 번 예수 그리스도의 몸을 드리심으로 우리가 거룩하게 된 것이라. 제사장마다 매일 서서 섬기며, 똑같은 제사를 자주 드리지만 결코 죄들을 제거할 수 없으나 이분은 한 번의 속죄제를 영원히 드린 후 하나님의 오른 편에 앉으셔서 그후로는 그의 원수들을 자기 발판으로 삼으실 때까지 기다리시느니라. 이는 그가 한 번의 제사로서 거룩하게 된 자들을 영원히 온전케 하셨기 때문이라."(히 10:10-14)

       그렇다! 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서는 영원히 죽지 않는 혼을 가진 모든 죄인들을 구원하시기 위하여 우리가 태어나기도 전에 이미 우리의 모든 죄를 제거하신 것이다. 이 사실을 믿고 돌이켜 회개하고 주 예수 그리스도를 믿기만 하면 무조건적으로 의로운자라고 하나님께서 여기시어 성령을 통하여 영원한 생명을 주시는 것이다. 신약 시대에 가장 좋은 예들 든다면 사마리아 수칼에 살았던 한 여인과 주님과 함께 십자가에 달렸던 한 강도라 할 수 있을 것이다. 이미 죄를 지어 하나님의 영광에 이르지 못하게 된 (롬 3;23)죄의 몸은 죽게 되어 있으나 주 예수 그리스도의 보혈을 통한 하나님의 사랑의 복음을 믿을 때에 그 믿음을 의로 여기시는 하나님이신 것이다. 그 증거로서 그리스도께서 나타나시는 그리스도의 날에 주 안에서 잠자던 자들과 살아있는 모든  그리스도인들은 마침내 죽지 않고 썩지 않는 몸을 입게 되어 (살전 4:16-18, 고전 15:51-54) 온전한 영과 혼과 몸을 회복하게 됨으로써 완전한 하나님의 형상으로 변화하게 되는 것이다. 이 사실을 믿기만 하면 의로운 자가 되는 은혜의 복음을 주신 하나님께 감사와 찬송과 영광을 돌리지 않겠는가? 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: psalms 32:1-11

Main scripture: Romans 4:1-8

Subject: The faith to be justified through remission of sins

       The Holy Ghost testifies of justification by faith through Apostle Paul taking example of Abraham: "Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness."

In other word, Abraham became a righteous man only by believing God not doing work. Then, even though he had done murder or any other serious sins, he could have been justified only because he just believed God. Someone that has never done murder or adultery may upset upon hearing this word of God, and may hate to believe God thinking him so unfair.

        All men are born as sinners, and live as the righteous; but all of sudden they understand who they are when they emerge into unexpected serious sins. We can take example of King David. He was a good man; so he always insisted his own righteousness in his prayer. But when he committed adultery and murder, he confessed to God: "Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me."(Ps. 51:5)

Many religious people rejected to receive Jesus believing their own righteousness; but only a few number of people such as whores and publicans came forward to Jesus to receive him. Jesus clearly declared toward the Jew: "Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you."(Matt. 21:31)

       Apostle Paul emphasized again of the faith toward God in the main passage saying, "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness."(Rom. 4:5)

What he meant? Even though someone has never done good work rather committed too many serious sins, all his sins shall be forgiven just when he only receive the grace and love of God in the blood shed by Jesus Christ. God with repentance. But they that insist their own righteousness hate to receive such the word of God.

       King David living under the law testifies of the blessing of them that shall be justified through believing on Jesus that God shall manifested in flesh, and takeaway the sin of the world:

"Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered."(Rom. 4:6,7, Ps. 32:1,2)

       In the main passage, the scripture explain about faith to be justified through the example of Abraham; then what is the faith of Abraham? In a one word, Abraham believed whatever God spoke to him empting his own thought. Then what God spoke unto him?

"Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed."(Gen. 12:1-3)

At his age of seventy five, Abraham had no son at all, but he believed God, and obeyed his word.

       One day, after more than ten years passed by, God spoke unto Abraham in a vision; he didn't have any son even though he was more than eighty years old. God took Abraham outside in the night spoke unto him again: "Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be."(Gen. 15:5)

The scripture testifies, "Abraham believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness."

          God speaks unto us  living in the dispensation of grace. Then what God is speaking unto us through the Spirit after God became a man, and died on the cross shedding his blood to take away  the sin of the world, and rose again the third day? Jesus Christ spoke unto the world: "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."(John 3:14-16)

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."(John 3:36)

Then did he ask any work to receive the eternal life? No. He spoke of unconditional love of God as well as the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.

       Apostle Paul testified of the gospel clearly that he received from Jesus directly unto the saints of Ephesians:

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."(Eph. 2:8,9)

Jesus Christ also clearly spoke to the Jews that the Holy Ghost shall come to reprove the world of sin saying, "Of sin, because they believe not on me;"(John 16:9)

        Then what he meant by saying, "Because they believe not on me"? John the Baptist testified of what Jesus is saying, "Behold the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world."(John 1:29) And Apostle Paul also testified of Jesus which takes away the sin of the world saying, "By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified."(Heb. 10:10-14)

       Yea! Jesus Christ took away our sins to save all sinners that have immortally living souls even before we were born. Believing on this word of God, and repenting, and believing on Jesus Christ, God justifies them all as unconditional righteous men, and willing to give the eternal life through the Spirit of God. As the good examples in the New Testament days, there are the woman living in Samaria and one thieve crucified with Jesus. Our sinful body is supposed to die because the sinful nature sinned and comes short of glory of God(Rom. 3:23). But God count our faith as righteousness when we believe on the gospel of the love of God through the blood of Jesus Christ. As the evidence, all the Christians shall put on immortal and incorruptible body in the day of Christ whether they sleep in the Lord or still alive (1Cor. 15:51-54, 1Thes. 4:16-18) to restore the perfect spirit and soul and body to be changed into the perfect image of God. What about giving thanksgiving, and praising and glory unto God that has given us the gospel of grace? Amen! Hallelujah!
