금주의 묵상: 시편 121:1-8

본문 말씀: 베드로전서 1:1-25

제목: 하나님의 능력으로 보호받고 있는 우리의 구원

       본문에서 사도 베드로는 사도 바울에게 계시되었던 예수 그리스도를 믿어 은혜로 받는 구원에 대하여 구원받은 그리스도인들에게 편지했습니다. 그는 하나님의 미리 아심에 따라 성령의 거룩케 하심을 통하여, 순종함과 예수 그리스도의 피뿌림으로 택함받은 자들에게 증거했습니다. 또한 구원받은 성도들에게 하나님의 은혜와 평강이 충만하기를 기도했습니다.

       사도 바울도 구원받은 그리스도인에 대하여 증거할 때에 “그분께서 미리 아신 자들을 자기 아들의 형상과 일치하게 하시려고 또한 예정하셨으니 이는 그를 많은 형제 가운데서 첫태생이 되게 하려 하심이니라. 그리하여 예정하신 이들을 부르시고 부르신 이들을 또한 의롭게 하시고 의롭게 하신 이들을 또한 영화롭게 하셨느니라.”(롬 8:29, 30)고 증거했습니다.

        사도 바울이 에베소 교회 성도들에게 편지할 때에 그들이 받은 구원에 대하여 “하나님께서 세상의 기초를 놓으시기 이전에 우리로 사랑 안에서 그분 앞에 거룩하고 흠 없게 하시려고 그리스도 안에서 우리를 택하시어 하나님의 기쁘신 뜻에 따라 예수 그리스도를 통하여 우리를 자신의 자녀로 입양할 것을 예정하셨으니“(엡 1:4,5)라고 증거했습니다.

       두 사도들이 증거하고 있는 하나님의 택하심은 하나님께서 미리 아신 자들이 그리스도의 복음을 믿음으로써 예수 그리스도의 피뿌림을 받아 모든 죄들이 용서되고 죄값이 치러짐으로써 성령을 받아 세상으로부터 나와 그리스도의 몸 안에 들어간 자들을 말씀하고 있는 것입니다.

또한 예수 그리스도를 죽은 자로부터 부활하게 하신 성령을 통하여 영이 거듭남으로써 하나님의 아들들이 되어 하늘에 있는 썩지 않는 유업을 받을 상속자들이 된 것을 증거하고 있는 것입니다. 사도 바울은 하나님의 상속자이면서 그리스도와 함께 한 공동 상속자라고 증거했습니다(롬 8:17).

        본문에서 사도 베드로는 아주 중요한 진리를 증거하고 있습니다. 이는 하나님의 자녀들이 그리스도께서 오실 때에 죽을 몸이 죽지 않을 몸을 입고 썩을 몸이 썩지 않을 몸을 입을 그리스도의 날, 다시 말해서 휴거의 날까지 믿음으로 말미암아 하나님의 능력으로 보호받고 있다고 증거하고 있습니다.

        또한 그리스도의 날까지 몸이 이 세상에 살면서 여러가지 시험을 당하면서 슬퍼할 때도 있지만 믿음의 시련을 통하여 세상을 이김으로써 단련될 때에 오히려 그리스도의 날에 이 믿음의 시련이 상급이 되어 휴거의 날에 주님으로부터 칭찬과 존귀와 영광을 받게 될 것이라고 격려하고 있습니다.

        사도 바울도 로마에 있는 그리스도인들에게 “그분으로 인하여 우리가 서 있는 이 은혜 안에 믿음으로 나아가며 하나님의 영광의 소망 안에서 즐거워하느니라. 이뿐만 아니라 우리가 환난 중에서도 즐거워하나니 환난은 인내를 이루고 인내는 연단을, 연단은 소망을 이루는 줄 앎이라. 소망이 부끄럽지 않은 것은 우리에게 주신 성령에 의하여 하나님의 사랑이 우리 마음 속에 부어졌기 때문이라.”(롬 5:2-5)고 격려했습니다.

그는 또한 큰 도시인 골로새에 있는 성도들에게 편지할 때에도 휴거의 날에 그리스도와 함께 영광스럽게 나타나기 위해서는  위에 있는 것들에 마음을 두고 땅에 있는 것들에 마음을 둠으로써 탐심을 품어 우상숭배하지 말라고 경고했습니다.

        또한 사도 베드로는 우리가 주 예수 그리스도를 믿음으로 받은 구원은 혼의 구원임을 상기시키고 있습니다. 그 이유는 구원받은 혼이 그리스도의 날에 그리스도를 영광스럽게 만날 때까지 정신을 차리고 몸 관리를 잘하라는 메세지를 주고 있는 것입니다. 다시 말해서 이미 영과 혼이 그리스도의 피를 통하여 이미 거룩하게 되었으니 몸도 거룩한 삶을 살아야 할 것을 말씀하고 있는 것입니다.

        사도 바울은 거룩함에 대하여 히브리인들에게 편지했습니다. “그 뜻에 따라 모든 사람을 위하여 한 번 예수 그리스도의 몸을 드리심으로 우리가 거룩하게 된 것이라…..이분은 한 번의 속죄제를 영원히 드린 후 하나님의 오른 편에 앉으셔서 그후로는 그의 원수들을 자기 발판으로 삼으실 때까지 기다리시느니라. 이는 그가 한 번의 제사로써 거룩하게 된 자를 영원히 온전케 하셨기 때문이라.”(히 10:10,12,13,14)

        그렇습니다. 구원을 받고 성령으로 거듭나서 하나님의 자녀가 되었을지라도 여전히 우리의 모습은 죄인의 모습으로 우리 자신에게 보일지라도 우리가 온전하게 된 것은 우리의 혼이 온전하게 된 것입니다. 어떻게 우리의 혼이 온전하게 되었습니까? 사도 바울은 히브리인 그리스도인들에게 분명하게 증거하고 있습니다: “황소와 염소의 피와 암송아지의 재로 불결한 자들에게 뿌려 그 육체를 정결케 함으로써 거룩하게 한다면 하물며 영원하신 성령을 통하여 흠 없는 자신을 하나님께 드린 그리스도의 피가 어찌 죽은 행실에서 너희 양심을 정결케 하여 살아 계신 하나님을 섬기게 하지 못하겠느냐?”(히 9:13,14)

        예수께서는 위선자 바리새인들과 서기관들에게 그들의 양심에 깊히 뿌리 내리고 있는 죄악들에 대하여 분명하게 말씀하셨습니다. 그들뿐만 아니라 모든 사람들의 혼 속에 들어있는 죄들을 드러내신 것입니다: “이는 속에서, 즉 사람들의 마음에서 나오는 것은 악한 생각과 간음과 음행과 살인과 도둑질과 탐욕과 악의와 사기와 방탕과 악한 눈과 하나님을 모독함과 교만과 어리석음이기 때문이니, 이런 모든 악한 것은 속에서 나와, 그 사람을 더럽히느니라.”(막 7:21-23)

        그러나 누구든지 이 사실을 깨닫고 주 예수 그리스도를 전심으로 믿어 영접할 때에 그리스도의 피가 이 모든 것들을 정결케 함으로써 하나님을 섬길 수 있게 하신다는 것입니다. 이 거룩함을 경헙한 사도 바울은 “그러므로 누구든지 그리스도 안에 있으면 새로운 피조물이라, 옛 것들은 지나갔으니, 보라, 모든 것이 새롭게 되었도다.”(고후 5:17)라고 증거한 것입니다. 다시 말해서 그의 혼이 새로워졌음을 간증한 것입니다.

        그러므로 사도 베드로는 본문에서 “너희를 부르신 그분께서 거룩하신 것처럼 너희도 모든 행실에 거룩하라.”(벧전 1:15)고 권면하고 있는 것입니다. 다시 말해서 속 사람이 이미 거룩해졌으니 행실도 거룩하게 함으로써 겉 사람도 거룩함의 옷을 입으라는 것입니다. 그리고 거룩하게 된 혼을 더럽히지 말고 항상 진리에 순종함으로써 혼들을 정결하게 유지하라는 것입니다. 주님께서도 제자들을 위하여 마지막 기도를 하실 때에 하나님의 진리의 말씀으로 그들을 거룩하게 해 달라고 아버지께 간구하셨습니다(요 17:17).

        그렇습니다. 주님께서 나타나실 때까지 우리가 해야 할 일은 엣 사람, 즉 아담의 자손으로서의 몸의 행실을 벗어버리고 새 사람, 즉 예수 그리스도로 옷 입어야 하는 것입니다. 사도 바울은 성령 안에서 에베소에 있는 성도들에게  “하나님을 따라 의와 참된 거룩함 안에서 창조된 새 사람을 입으라.”(엡 4:24)고 말씀했습니다. 우리가 진리의 말씀에 순종하는 삶을 살 때에 구원받은 우리의 혼이 거룩한 옷인 세마포로 단장할 수 있는 것입니다. 또한 그리스도의 날에 칭찬과 존귀와 영광을 받게 될 것입니다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 121:1-8

Main scripture: 1Peter 1: 1-25

Subject: Our salvation that is kept by the power of God

       Apostle Peter wrote unto the Christians who received salvation through faith in Christ  by grace that was revealed unto Apostle Paul. He testified unto them that were elected according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through  sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ. He prayed for them to be filled with grace and peace.

        Apostle Paul testified of the Christians that are saved:

“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.”(Rom. 8:29, 30)

       “The elected or predestinated” that is testified by two Apostles is the one that is foreknown and entered into the body of Christ coming out of the world through sprinkling blood of Jesus Christ by faith in the gospel of Christ; and that received remission of all sins through redemption of sins, and received the Holy Ghost. And they are born again of the Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead to be the children of God; and they are the heirs to receive an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved in heaven. Apostle Paul testified of them that are the heirs of God as well as the joint-heirs with Christ (Rom. 8:17)

        In the main passage, Apostle Peter testifies of an very important truth; the children of God are kept by the power of God  through faith by the day of Christ that is the day of Rapture when they receive incorruptible and immortal body.

        Even though their body could be in heaviness through manifold temptation by the day of Christ, the trial of their faith, being much more precious, through it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise, and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ as encouraged by Apostle Peter.

        Apostle Paul encouraged unto the saints in Rome saying,

“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,”(Eph. 1:4,5)

He also encouraged unto the saints in Colossae, a great city not to set their affection on things on the earth, but on things above to be able to appear with him glory. He warned them to avoid covetousness that is idolatry.

          And Apostle Peter reminded them of their salvation received through faith that is of their souls; he gave them an very important message for them to be awaken spiritually so that they might manage their body until their souls see Jesus Christ with glory in the day of Christ. In other word, since their souls are already sanctified through the blood of Jesus Christ, their life should be follow their sanctified souls in holiness.

        Apostle Paul wrote unto the Hebrews of holiness saying,

“By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”(Rom. 5:2-5)

        Yea! Even though we are the children of God through regeneration of their spirit through salvation, we still seem to be as sinners; but it is our souls that is made perfect by God. How God made our souls perfect? Apostle Paul testifies of this clearly unto us: “By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

…… But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”(Heb. 10:10,12,13,14)

        Jesus clearly spoke unto the hypocrites such as Pharisees and Scribes of their sins being rooted into their conscience: “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”(Mark 7:21-23)

 “For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”(Heb. 9:13,14)

          But whosoever understands sinful situation, and receives Jesus Christ by faith in all the heart shall be sanctified by the blood of Jesus Christ in the conscience to serve the living God. Apostle Paul experienced such sanctification in his conscience, and testified saying, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”(2Cor. 5:17))

         Therefore Apostle Peter, in the main passage, encouraged unto them saying, “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;”(1Pet. 1:15)

In other word, their inner beings are already sanctified; so they have to put on holiness. He encouraged them not to defile their sanctified souls again, and to keep their souls purified through obeying the word of truth. Jesus interceded for his disciples in his last prayer for God the Father may sanctify them through his truth (John 17:17)

        Yea! The one thing that we have to keep doing is to put off the old man that is the behavior as the children of Adam, but to put on with Jesus Christ that is the word of truth. Apostle Paul testified unto the saints of Ephesians in the Spirit saying, “And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”(Eph. 4:24)

When we obey the word of truth, our saved souls can wear with the holy linens; and we shall be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. Amen! Hallelujah!
