금주의 묵상: 시편 23:1-6                                  

본문: 요한복음 1:1-18

제목: 예수 그리스도 안에 충만한 은혜와 진리

        창세기로부터 요한계시록에 이르기까지 모든 성경 안에는 은혜와 진리로 가득차 있습니다. 또한 어느 시대를 막론하고 하나님의 말씀 안에는 은혜와 진리로 가득차 있습니다. 성육신 하신 예수께서는 “성경을 상고하라. 이는 너희가 성경에 영생이 있다고 생각함이니, 그 성경은 나에 관하여 증거하고 있음이라.”(요 5:39)고 말씀하셨습니다. 다시 말해서 그 당시 있었던 모세의 율법과 선지서들과 시편 모두가 자신에 관하여 증거한 말씀들이라고 증거하신 것입니다. 또한 그 말씀은 오늘 본문에서 하나님의 독생자의 영광을 볼 때에 은혜와 진리가 충만하다고 침례인 요한이 증거한 것처럼 예수 그리스도께서 이 땅에 나타나시기 전에 기록된 모든 말씀 안에도 은혜와 진리가 충만하였던 것입니다.

       아담과 이브가 선악을 아는 지식의 나무의 열매를 먹고 숨었을 때 그들을 찾아가신 하나님께서는 그들에게 가죽으로 옷들을 만들어 주심으로써 은혜를 주셨습니다 (창 3:21). 그후 하나님의 사람 노아는 주의 눈에서 은혜를 찾았다고 성경은 말씀하고 있습니다(창 6:8).또한 소돔에 살다가 심판이 임했을 때 하나님께 은혜를 구하는 롯에게도 은혜를 주셔서 그가 도피한 소알 성을 심판하시지 않으셨습니다(창 19:19-22). 또한 하나님께 은혜를 구하는 모세에게, 하나님께서는 “네가 내 목전에서 은혜를 입었고 내가 지명하여 너를 앎이니라….나는 은헤를 베풀자에게 은혜를 베풀고 자비를 보일 자에게 자비를 보이리라……주로다. 자비롭고, 은혜로우시며, 오래 참고, 선함과 진리가 충성한 주 하나님이로다“(출 33:17, 19; 34:6)고 말씀하셨습니다. 기드온, 한나, 룻, 다윗 등 많은 사람들이 주로부터 은혜를 입었다고 성경은 말씀하고 있습니다. 뿐만아니라 하나님께서는 이스라엘에게 은혜를 베푸시고, 그들을 가엽게  여기시고, 그들을 유념하셨으니, 이는 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱과 맺은 주의 언약 때문이라고 성경은 말씀하고 있습니다(왕하 13:23). 그러나 하나님께서 베푸신 은혜를 은혜로 여기지 않고 마음이 높아졌던 히스기야에게 하나님께서는 진노를 내리셨습니다(대하 32;25). 은혜를 은혜로 여기지 않고 거부하는 자에게는 공의의 하나님이 되시는 은혜와 진리로 충만하신 하나님이신 것입니다.

       하나님의 사람 엘리후는 욥에게 말할 때에, “그때는 그분께서 그 사람에게 은혜로우셔서 말씀하시기를 ‘구렁으로 내려가는 그를 구해 주라. 내가 몸값을 얻었다.’ 하시리라.”(욥 33:24)고 말함으로써 장차 하나님의 독생자이신 예수 그리스도께서 모든 사람에게 은혜를 주시려고 죄인들의 몸값을 치르시기 위하여 나타나실 것을 증거했던 것입니다.

       선지자 이사야는 주 하나님에 대하여 증거할 때에, “그러므로 주께서 기다리시리니 이는 그가 너희에게 은혜로우심이요, 그러므로 그가 높임을 받으시리니 이는 그가 너희에게 자비를 베푸시려 함이라. 주는 공의의 하나님이시니 그를 기다리는 자들은 모두가 복이 있도다.”(사 30:18)라고 증거함으로써 하나님께서는 은혜로우실뿐만 아니라 진리를 행하시는 공의와 심판의 하나님이심을 말한 것입니다.

      선지자 스카랴는 앞으로 야곱의 고난의 때인 대 환란 때에 하나님께서 이스라엘 백성에게 은혜를 주실 것에 대하여 “내가 다윗의 집과 예루살렘의 거민들 위에 은혜와 간구의 영을 부어주리라. 그러면 그들은 그들이 찔렀던 나를 쳐다볼 것이며, 그들이 그를 위하여 애통하리니 마치 어떤 사람이 자기 외아들을 위하여 애통함같이 할 것이요, 그들이 그를 위하여비통에 잠기리니 마치 어떤 사람이 자기 첫아들을 위하여 비통에 잠기듯 하리라.”(슥 12:10) 예언했습니다.

       은혜와 자비가 풍성하시고 공의로우신 주 하나님께서 뱀에게 선포하신 대로 뱀의 머리를 부수시어 죄의 종, 즉 마귀의 종이 된 모든 죄인들에게 은혜를 주시려고 여인의 씨로 세상에 나타나셨습니다. 하나님의 독생자로 이 세상에 나타나신 예수님을 온 세상에 증거하기 위하여 예수님보다 육 개월 먼저 보내심을 받은 침례인 요한은 태초에 계셨던 말씀이시며, 하나님과 함께 계셨고, 하나님이셨으며 만물을 창조하신 그분께서 예수라는 이름으로 오신 것을 증거하면서 그분의 영광을 볼 때, 아버지의 독생자의 영광으로 은혜와 진리가 충만하다고 증거했습니다.

         예수께서는 죄인들에게 은혜를 주시기 위하여 자신을 몸값으로 내어놓으시기 위하여 세상에 오셨습니다. 다시 말해서 하나님의 은혜는 자신이 죽으심을 통해서 그를 믿는 모든 사람들을 위한 대속물이 되시는 것입니다. 그러므로 하나님의 은혜는 죄를 알지도 못하는 그분을 죄인들을 위하여 죄로 삼으심으로써 우리로 하여금 그 안에서 하나님의 의가 되게 하시는 것(고후 5:21)이라고 사도 바울이 증거했습니다. 그러므로 죄인들을 향한 하나님의 은혜는 하나님 자신이 죄인들을 위하여 자신이 죽음을 맛보심으로써 공의의 법을 이루시며 그리하여 은혜 안에는 하나님의 죽으심이 감추어져 있는 것입니다. 예수 그리스도께서는 죄인들에게 공의를 행하심으로써 죽여야 하는데 죄인들을 향한 공의를 자신에게 행하셔서 자신이 죽으심으로써 죄인들에게 은혜를 주셨던 것입니다. 그분께서는 모든 세상 죄를 제거하시기 위하여 자신의 피를 온 세상에 뿌리심으로써 은혜와 진리가 충만하신 하나님이 되신 것입니다.

       예수께서는 은혜뿐만 아니라 진리로 충만하신 분이라고 침례인 요한이 증거했습니다. 예수께서는 자신을 기리켜 진리라고 말씀하셨습니다. 또한 주님께서는 제자들을 위하여 아버지께 드리는 마지막 기도 가운데서 “아버지의 진리로 그들을 거룩하게 하여 주옵소서, 아버지의 말씀은 진리니이다.”(요 17:17)라고 말씀하셨습니다. 그렇습니다. 주님은 진리이신 말씀 자체이시기에 어떤 죄도 거짓도 없으신 분인 것입니다.

       사도 요한은 하나님의 사랑으로 인하여 죄인들인 우리들을 하나님의 아들들이라고 불리게 하신 은혜에 대하여 증거하면서, 세상은 우리를 알지 못하지만 앞으로 그분께서 나타나시는 휴거의 날, 즉 그리스도의 날에 우리가 그와같이 되리라는 것을 안다고 말하면서, 이는 우리가 그분 그대로 그분을 볼 것이라고 증거했습니다. 또한 이 소망을 가진 사람은 누구나 그분이 정결하신 것처럼 자신을 정결케 한다고 증거했습니다(요일 3;1-3).

      그렇습니다. 거듭나서 하나님의 자녀가 된 모든 사람들은 그리스도의 날에 그분과 함께 영광스럽게 나타나기 위해서 자신을 정결케 해야 하는 것입니다. 다시 말해서 우리도 주님처럼 은혜와 진리로 충만해져야 하는 것입니다. 그러므로 우리도 주님처럼 죄인들을 위하여 자신을 부인함으로써 주님께서 우리를 위하여 죽으신 것처럼 행함으로써 그리스도의 은혜를 삶 속에서 증거해야 하는 것입니다. 뿐만 아니라, 우리 안에 남아있는 모든 거짓을 버리고 진리의 말씀으로 채워야 하는 것입니다. 진리를 행함으로써 경건에 이르러야 하는 것입니다. 사도 바울은 성도들이 살면서 해야 하는 일에 대하여 “몸의 훈련은 유익이 적지만 경건(godliness)은 모든 일에 유익하며 현재와 미래에  생명의 약속을 소유하게 하느니라.”(딤전 4:8)고 목회자 디모데에게 편지했습니다. 경건이란 은혜와 진리가 충만하신 주 예수 그리스도의 형상으로 옷입기 위한 삶인 것입니다. 그리하여 사도 바울은  에베소 교회 성도들에게 편지 할 때에도 “하나님을 따라 의와 참된 거룩함 안에서 창조된 새 사람을 입으라.”(엡 4:24)고 권면함으로써 하나님의 자녀들이 옛 사람의 성품을 벗어버리고 새 사람이신 예수 그리스도로 옷입어 거룩한 삶을 살아야 한다고 권면한 것입니다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 23:1-6

Subject: Grace and Truth full in Jesus Christ

        In all the scriptures from Genesis through Revelation, grace and truth are abundantly filled. Regardless any dispensational ages, grace and truth are fully given in the words of God. Jesus, God manifested in flesh spoke unto the Jew, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”(John 5:39) In other word, he meant, all the scriptures including Moses law, prophets and psalms testify of him. As John the Baptist testifies in the main passage of Jesus that is the glory as of the only begotten of Father God full of grace and truth, in all the scriptures written before he appeared, there are full of grace and truth.

        When Adam and Eve hided themselves after they ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, God made coats of skins, and clothed them to give them grace (Gen. 3:21). Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD (Gen. 6:8) Lot asked for grace when the judgment of God came upon Sodom where he lived within; God not judged the city of Zoar as he asked (Gen. 19:19-22). Moses asked for grace unto God, God gave him grace saying, “for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name….. will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy…… The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,”(Ex. 33:17,19;34:6)

God had given grace unto many people of God when they asked for it such as Gideon, Hannah, Ruth, David and so on. God also gave grace unto the people of Israel as said in the scripture, “And the Lord was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet.”(2King 13:23)

On the other hand, God brought forth wrath unto king Hezekiah, for he rendered not again according to the benefit done unto him; for his heart was lifted up (2Chron. 32:25). Yea, God is the one, full of grace as well as righteousness unto them that render not the grace as grace.

        Elihu, man of God spoke unto Job, “Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.”(Job 33:24)

He testified of Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God to appear to be ransom for sinners to give them grace.

        Prophet Isaiah testified of the LORD God saying, “And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.”(Isa. 30:18)

        Prophet Zechariah testified of the grace to be given unto the people Israel in the days of the Great Tribulation that is the trouble of Jacob saying, “And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.”(Zech. 12:10)

         As God of abundant grace and mercy and righteousness proclaimed unto the serpent, he appeared in flesh as the seed of woman to give the sinners grace bruising the head of the serpent to free them from the bondage of servants of sin. John the Baptist, born six months before Jesus was born to testify Jesus as the only begotten Son of God unto the world. He testified of him as the Word in the beginning with God, as the God the Creator of all things full of grace and truth.

        Jesus came to the world to give himself as the ransom to give the sinners grace. In other word, the grace of God is given through the death of God to make him as the redeemer for the sinners for them that believe on him. Apostle Paul testified, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”(2Cor. 5:21)

Therefore the grace toward the sinners is to fulfill the law of righteousness though god himself tasting death for the sinners; the death  of God is hid in the grace of God.

          John the Baptist testified of Jesus full of grace as well as truth. Jesus testified of himself as the truth. Jesus spoke unto  the Father when he prayed for the disciples in his final prayer saying, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”(John 17:17)

Yea! the Lord Jesus is the truth as the word itself without any sin as well as false.

        Apostle John testified of the grace of God saying, “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.”(1John 3:1-3)

        Yea! All the children of God born of the Spirit have to pure themselves to appear with him with glory. In other word, we have to be full of grace and truth as Jesus Christ; and we have to deny ourselves for sinners as Jesus died for them to testify the grace of Christ Jesus. And we have to forsake all the false within us to fill our heart with the words of truth. This is the way for us unto godliness through walking in the truth. Apostle Paul wrote unto pastor Timothy to testify of the things what to do for the saints saying, “For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.”(1Tim. 4:8)

Godliness is the life of being clothed with the form of the Lord Jesus Christ full of grace and truth. Apostle Paul encouraged the saints of Ephesians saying, “And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”(Eph. 4:24)

He asked them to put off the character of the old man, and put on the new man that is Jesus Christ to live sanctified. Amen! Hallelujah!
