금주의 묵상: 시편 16:1-11

본문: 요한복음 20:19-31

제목: 예수 그리스도의 부활을 믿는 자들에게 주시는 평강과 자유

       인류 역사 다섯째 날, 즉 아담 이후 사천 년이 지난 어느날, 이 땅에 나타나신 말씀이시며 창조주 하나님이신 주 예수 그리스도께서 성경대로 십자가에서 피흘려 죽으시고 장사되셨다가 성경대로 셋째 날에 살아나심으로써(고전 15:3,4) 세상 죄를 제거하시고 그리스도의 복음을 믿는 사람들을 위하여 구원을 완성하셨습니다.

      마침내 주님께서는 안식 후 첫 날, 다시 말해서 구원을 이루신 후 첫날 저녁에 두려워하며 문을 잠그고 떨고 있는 제자들에게 나타나셨습니다. 그리고 그들에게 처음 하신 말씀이 “너희에게 평강(peace)이 있으라.”는 말씀이었습니다. 주님께서 그들에게 자신의 손과 옆구리를 보여주실 때, 기뻐하는 제자들에게 다시 한 번 말씀하셨습니다. “너희에게 평강(peace)이 있으라. 내 아버지께서 나를 보내신 것같이 나도 너희를 보내노라.” 라는 말씀을 하신 후에 숨을 내쉬며 “성령을 받으라.”고 말씀하셨습니다.

         주님께서 죽으시기 전에 제자들에게 평강(peace)에 대하여 미리 말씀하셨습니다. “보라, 내가 너희에게 화평(peace)을 남겨 두나니 ‘나의 화평(peace)을 너희에게 주노라. 내가 너희에게 주는 것은 세상이 주는 것과 같지 아니하니, 너희는 마음에 근심하지 말고, 두려워하지도 말라. 너희는 내가 갔다가 너희에게 다시 온다고 한 말을 들었느니라. 너희가 나를 사랑하였으면 ‘내가 아버지께로 가노라.’ 한 말을 기뻐하였으리라. 이는 내 아버지께서 나보다 위대하시기 때문이라. 이제 그 일이 일어나기 전에 내가 너희에게 말한 것은 그 일이 일어날 때 너희로 하여금 믿게 하려는 것이라. 이후로는 내가 너희에게 많이 말하지 아니하리니 이는 이 세상의 통치자가 오나, 그는 내 안에 아무 것도 가지고 있지 아니함이라.”(요 14:27-30)

        주님께서 자신을 믿은 제자들에게 나타나셔서 “평강이 있으라.”고 말씀하신 것입니다. 지금도 주 예수의 이름으로 오신 성령께서는 그분을 믿는 모든 사람들에게 “평강이 있으라.”고 말씀하고 계십니다. 다시 말해서 주님께서 주시는 평강(peace)은 세상에서 말하는 평화가 아닌 것입니다. 세상에서 말하는 평화는 진정한 화평이 아닌 잠시 동안의 편안함인 것입니다. 주님께서는 이 세상은 어느누구에게도 하나님께서 주시는 화평을 줄 수 없다고 말씀하시는 것입니다.

        이 세상은 사단이 여전히 통치하고 있는 죄악 세상이며 온갖 죄들과 저주와 싸움으로 가득찬 곳이기에 어느누구에게도 화평을 줄 수 없는 것입니다. 주님께서 세상에 오신 목적은 화평이 아니라 칼을 주러 오셨다고 말씀하셨습니다 (마 10:34) 다시 말해서 세상 죄를 위하여 그분께서 죽으시고 장사되셨다가 부활하신 사실을 믿는 자 외에는 어느누구도 화평을 가질 수 없다는 것입니다. 옛날 다윗왕은 성령 안에서 이 사실을 미리 깨닫고 “내가 평안 가운데 눕기도 하고 자기도 하리니 이는 주여, ‘주만이 나를 안전한 가운데 거하게 하심이니이다.”(시 4:8)라고 고백했습니다.

        왜 세상이 화평을 줄 수 없다는 것입니까? 모두가 죄의 종이요 저주의 종이며 사망의 종이기 때문인 것입니다. 이 사실을 깨닫게 하시기 위하여 주님께서 미리 말씀하셨습니다. “수고하고 무거운 짐진 자들아, 다 내게로 오라. 그러면 내가 너희에게 쉼을 주리라. 나는 마음이 온유하고 겸손하니, 내 멍에를 메고 나에게서 배우라. 그리하면 너희 혼이 쉼을 얻으리라.”(마 11:28-30) 그렇습니다. 마음에 하나님께서 주시는 화평이 있는 사람만이 혼의 쉼을 얻을 수 있는 것입니다. 이 쉼은 영원한 안식인 것입니다. 그러므로 혼의 쉼을 얻은 사람은 성령으로 다시 태어난 사람이며 그는 이미 하나님의 왕국에 영적으로 들어간 사람인 것입니다. 성령으로 거듭나서 하나님의 왕국에 들어갔던 사도 바울은 “하나님의 나라(왕국)는 먹고 마시는 것이 아니라 다만 성령 안에서 의와 화평과 기쁨이라.”(롬 14:17)고 증거한 것입니다.

다시 말해서 그리스도의 복음을 온 마음을 다해 믿은 사람은 누구나 성령을 받음으로써 하나님의 나라(왕국)에 영적으로 들어가는 것입니다.

        “의“가 무엇입니까? 예수 그리스도께서 자신의 죄로 인하여 십자가에서 피흘려 죽으신 사실을 믿은 사람은 그의 보혈을 통하여 죄사함을 통하여 모든 죄가 제거되며(요 1:29, 히 10:11,12) 양심이 그리스도의 피로 정결케 되어 의롭다고 칭함을 받는 것을 말씀하시는 것입니다. 사도 바울은 이 사실에 대하여 “그 뜻에 따라 모든 사람을 위하여 한 번 예수 그리스도의 몸을 드리심으로써 우리가 거룩하게 된 것이라….이분은 한 번의 속죄제를 영원히 드린 후 하나님의 오른 편에 앉으셔서 그후로는 그의 원수들을 자기 발판으로 삼으실 때까지 기다리시느니라. 이는 그가 한 번의 제사로서 거룩하게 된 자들을 영원히 온전케 하셨기 때문이라.”(히 10:10,12-14)고 분명하게 증거했습니다.

        그러므로 그리스도께서 자신의 죄로 인하여 십자가에서 피흘려 죽으신 사실을 마음에 진정으로 믿는 모든 사람에게 차별없이 마치 모든 율법을 다 지킨 자처럼 율법의 의(롬 8:4)가 이루어지게 함으로써 하나님의 의를 통하여 의로운 자라고 여김을 받게 되는 것입니다. 이 죄악 세상에서 화평을 누리는 유일한 길은 예수 그리스도의 죽으심과 장사되심과 부활을 믿는 것 외에 어떤 길도 없는 것입니다. 그러므로 사도 바울은 로마에 있는 성도들에게 “그러므로 우리가 믿음으로 의롭게 되었으니 우리 주 예수 그리스도를 통하여 하나님과 화평을 갖느니라.”(롬 5:1)고 증거한 것입니다. 그러므로 예수 그리스도를 믿음으로 모든 죄들를 용서받아 제거되어서 의롭게 되지 않으면 아무도 하나님과 화평 관계를 가질 수 없는 것입니다. 그러므로 주님께서 제자들에게 “평강이 있으라.”고 말씀하신 것은 이제부터 하나님과 화평을가짐으로써 평강을 누리라는 말씀인 것입니다.

        그렇다면, 거듭난 그리스도인들도 여전히 이 죄악 세상에서 살아야 하는데 어떻게 기쁘게 살 수 있습니까? 주님께서는 세상을 떠나시기 전에 제자들에게 “너희가 이제야 믿느냐? 보라, 너희가 각자 자기 집으로 흩어지고 나를 혼자 남겨 놓을 그 때가 오나니, 실로 이미  왔노라. 그러나 나는 혼자 있지 아니하니, 이는 아버지께서 나와 함께 계심이라. 내가 이런 내가 이런 일들을 너희에게 말한 것은 너희가 내 안에서 화평을 지니게 하려 함이라. 세상에서는 너희가 환난을 당할 것이나 기운을 내라. 내가 세상을 이겼노라.”(요 16:31-33)고 말씀하셨습니다.

        사도 바울은 예수 그리스도를 믿어 하나님과 화평을 가진 그리스도인들이 악한 현 세상을 살아가면서 환난 가운데서도 기뻐해야 하는 이유에 대하여, “그분으로 인하여 우리가 서 있는 이 은혜 안에 믿음으로 나아가며 하나님의 영광의 소망 안에서 즐거워하느니라. 이뿐만 아니라 우리가 환난 중에서도 즐거워하나니 환난은 인내를 이루고 인내는 연단을, 연단은 소망을 이루는 줄 앎이라. 소망이 부끄럽지 않은 것은 우리에게 주신 성령에 의하여 하나님의 사랑이 우리 마음 속에 부어졌기 때문이라.”(롬 5:2-5)고 증거했습니다.

        그러므로 그리스도의 복음을 헛되이 믿지 않고 마음을 다하여 전심으로 믿는 (행 8:37) 사람은 양심이 정결케 됨으로써 화평을 가지게 되며, 죄의 몸이 영적으로 그리스도와 함께 죽어 그리스도의 몸 안으로 침례받아 그의 죽으심 안으로 침례를 받아 그와 함께 죄의 몸이 장사되는 것입니다. 또한  아버지의 영광으로 인하여 그리스도께서 죽은 자들로부터 일으켜지심과 같이 또한 생명의 새로움 가운데서 행하게 되는 것입니다. 뿐만 아니라 그의 부활하심의 모양과 같이 거룩한 삶을 살게되는 것입니다.(롬 6:3-5)

        그러므로 주 예수 그리스도를 믿는 사람은 하나님과의 화평의 삶을 누리게 됨으로써 모든 죄들로부터 자유케 되고, 모든 저주와 사망의 권세로부터 자유케 되며 죄의 몸으로터 해방되어 죄악 세상을 초월한 사람을 살 수 있는 것입니다. 이렇게 자유자가 된 그리스도인은 항상 기뻐하며, 쉬지 않고 기도하면서 모든 일을 합력하여 선을 이루시는 하나님(롬 8:28)을 신뢰하며 모든 일에 감사하는 삶을 살면서 하나님께 영광을 돌리게 되는 것입니다. 또한 이러한 화평과 자유의 삶을 살면서 그리스도의 화평의 복음을 전할 때에 성령과 능력이 나타남으로써 죄인들을 그리스도께로 인도하여 그 혼들을 이겨올 수 있는 것입니다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 16:1-11

Main scripture: John 20:19-31

Subject: Peace and freedom in the faith of the resurrection of Jesus Christ

        In the fifth day of human history when four thousand years passed by, the Lord Jesus Christ that is the Word and God the Creator appeared to the earth, and fulfilled the salvation for them that believe in the gospel of Christ through his death shedding blood according to the scriptures, and buried and rose again the third day according to the scriptures (1Cor. 15:3,4).

        In the first day after Sabbath when he fulfilled salvation, Jesus appeared at the evening unto the disciples, when the doors were shut where they were assembled for fear of the Jews. And his first word unto them was “Peace be unto you.” And when he had so said, he showed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad. Jesus said unto them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. Afterwards, he said, “Receive ye the Holy Ghost”.

         Before Jesus died, he spoke unto them of Peace in advance:

“ Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.  Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.  And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.”(John 14:27-30)

        The Lord Jesus appeared unto his disciples, and spoke unto them that believed on him, Peace be unto you. Even now, the Holy Ghost which came in his name is speaking unto all of them, “Peace be unto you.” as well. In other word, the peace that is said by the Lord Jesus is not the peace spoke in the world. The peace that is spoken in the world is not true peace, but temporal comfort. The world cannot give peace to anyone that God gives.

        This world is the evil one where Satan still is ruling to be filled with all kinds of sin, curses and troubles; so no one can give true peace at all. Jesus said of his purpose that he came to the world is not peace, but sword (Matt. 10:34). In other word, no one can have peace except them that  believe on the death of Christ for the sin of the world, and his burial, and his resurrection. King David understood this, and he confessed unto the LORD, “I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.”(Ps. 4:8)

        Why cannot the world give peace? All of them in the world are the servants of sin, and of curses, and of death. Jesus spoke unto the Jews in advance for them to understand this: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”(Matt. 11:28-33)

Yea! Only they that have peace given by God can have rest of their soul. This rest is the eternal rest. The one that has rest of soul is the one that is born of the Spirit again; he already entered into the kingdom of God spiritually. Apostle Paul that was born of the Spirit to enter into the kingdom of God testified,

“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”(Rom. 14:17)

In other word, they that believe the gospel of Christ in all the heart enter into the kingdom of God spiritually through the Holy Ghost.

        Then, what is “Righteousness”? They that believe on the Lord Jesus Christ in all the heart that died shedding his blood for their sins receive the remission of sins through all the sins taken away(John 1:29, Heb. 10:11,12) through his blood, and their conscience sanctified by his blood, and justified. Apostle Paul testified of this clearly unto the Hebrews, “By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all…. But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”(Heb. 10:10, 12-14)

        Therefore, for everyone that believes on the Lord Jesus Christ that died for their sins shedding the blood in the heart sincerely, the righteousness of the law(Rom. 8:4) is fulfilled in him as if he has observed all the law, and he is justified through the righteousness of God. The only way to have peace in the evil world is to believe the death of Christ, and his burial, and his resurrection; no other way at all. Therefore, Apostle Paul testified unto the saints in Rome,

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:”(Rom. 5:1)

Therefore, no one can have peace with God unless he receives the remission of sins through the faith in Jesus Christ through the sins being taken away to be justified. Therefore, Jesus asked his disciples to have peace through having peace with God henceforth.

        Then, how Christians could have life of rejoice still living in the evil world? Jesus said unto his disciples of this before he left the world: “….Do ye now believe?

 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”(John 16:31-33)

        Of the reason why the Christians that have peace with God through believing on Jesus Christ should rejoice in the midst of tribulation living in the evil world, Apostle Paul testified unto the saints in Rome: “By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”(Rom. 5:2-5)

        Therefore, they that believe on the gospel of Christ in all the heart not in vain (Act 8:37) have peace with God  through the sanctification of soul; and their body of sin were dead with Christ to be baptized into the body of Christ, and buried with his body spiritually: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by glory of the Father, even so they also should walk in the newness of life (Rom. 6:3-5)

       Therefore, the man that believes on Jesus Christ have peace with God so that he is free from all sins and  all kinds of curse and the power of death as well as from the body of sin; he can have life beyond the evil world. And the Christians that have such kinds of freedom could rejoice evermore, and pray without ceasing, and give thanks in everything trusting in the Lord that makes good together with all things (Rom. 8:28); and glorify God. Living in freedom, he can preach the gospel of peace; and he can lead sinners unto Christ  through winning the souls through manifestation of the Spirit and power. Amen! Hallelujah!
