금주의 묵상: 시편 96:1-13

본문: 빌립보서 3:1-14

제목: 고귀한 부르심의 상을 위하여 푯대를 정해 놓고 살고 있는가?

      본문에서 사도 바울은 자신이 거듭나기 전, 육신의 삶을 살 때와 거듭나서 영적인 삶을 살 때를 비교하면서 자신의 삶의 목표에 대하여 간증하고 있습니다. 그는 자신이 거듭나기 전의 삶을 회상하면서 거듭나기 전 자신과 같이 살면서 사람을 속이는 개들과 악한 일꾼들을 주의하라고 경고하고 있습니다.

      이 개들에 대하여 하나님께서는 선지자 이사야를 통하여 그들이 어떤 사람들인지 미리 예언하게 하셨습니다: “너희 모든 들짐승들아, 삼림 가운데 있는 너희 모든 짐승들아, 와서 먹어치우라. 그의 파숫꾼들은 눈멀었고, 그들은 모두 무지하며, 깨닫지 못하는 개들이니 그들이 짖지를 못하며 잠자고 눕고 졸기를 좋아하느니라. 정녕 그들은 만족할 줄 모르는 욕심 많은 개들이며, 깨닫지 못하는 목자들이라. 그들 모두가 그들 자신의 길만 보나니 모두가 자기 자리에서 자기의 이익만 도모하고, 말하기를 ‘오라, 내가 포도주를 가져오리니 우리가 독주를 진탕 마시자, 내일도 오늘 같을 것이요, 더 많이 풍요하리로다.”사 56:9-12)

      사도 베드로도 옛날 발람 선지자와 같은 부류인 거짓 교사들에 대하여 그들 역시 개들이라고 증거했습니다: “그러나 참된 예언대로 그들에게 이루어진 것이니 ‘개는 그 자신이 토해낸 것으로 다시 돌아가고 또 돼지는 씻고 나서 그녀의 진창 속에서 뒹군다.’ 하였도다.”(벧후 2:22)

      사도 요한도 이 개들에 대하여 그들이 어떤 무리들과 같은 부류이며 앞으로 그들이 영원히 갈 곳이 어디인지에 대하여 분명하게 성령 안에서 보고 증거했습니다: “그러나 개들과 마술사들과 음행하는 자들과 살인자들과 우상 숭배자들과 누구든지 거짓말을 즐겨 행하는 자는 모두 다 바깥에 있으리라.”(계 22:15)

        에수님께서 이 바깥이 어디인지에 대하여 말씀하셨습니다: “그 왕국의 자녀들은 바깥 흑암에 던져져서 거기에서 울며 이를 갈고 있을 것이라…그 사람의 손과 발을 묶어서 데리고 나가 바깥 흑암에 내어 던지라. 거기서 울며 이를 갈고 있으리라….너희는 쓸모없는 종을 바깥 흑암에 더지라. 거기서 울며 이를 갈고 있으리라.”(마 8:12; 22:13;25:30)

      성경이 분명하게 말씀하시는 “바깥“이란 곳이 다름 아닌 지옥임을 알 수 있습니다. 오늘날에도 수많은 개들이 기독교계를 점령하고 수많은 거듭나지 못한 사람들을 미혹하면서 그리스도를 따르는 대신 자신들을 따르도록 하고 있는 것을 봅니다. 사도 바울 역시 전에는 그런 자들 가운데 한 사람이었다고 고백하고 있습니다. 그 자신이 하나님을 잘 믿는다고 자부하면서 예수 그리스도를 믿어 거듭난 사람들을 원수로 여기며 그들을 죽이는 일에 열심을 내었던 자라고 고백하고 있는 것입니다. 그의 삶의 목표는 그리스도인들을 박해하고 죽이는 일이었던 것입니다.

      그가 이전에는 자신의 육신을 신뢰하면서 생각하기를, 태어난지 팔 일만에 할례를 받은 이스라엘인이며, 베냐민 지파요, 히브리인 중의 히브리인이요, 율법에 의하면 바리새인임을 자부하면서 율법을 주신 예수 그리스도가 누구인지 알지 못하는 무지함으로 인해 그가 믿는다고 자부하였던 하나님이신 예수 그리스도를 박해한 자였으나 그가 주님을 만나 구원받아 성령으로 다시 태어난 후에 그의 삶의 목표는 완전히 달라졌다고 증거하고 있습니다.

      이전에는 그의 육신에 유익하던 것들을 취하는 삶을 살았으나 거듭난 후에는 그의 육신에 유익한 것들은 무엇이나 그리스도를 위하여는 모두 다 손실로 여기는 삶을 살게 된 것입니다. 그 이유에 대하여 그가 거듭난 후부터는 모든 것을 잃어버려도 그리스도이신 그의 주님을 아는 지식이 가장 고상하기에 그의 모든 것을 다 바쳐서 그리스도를 아는 일에 올인하고 그 외에 모든 것들은 그에게는 배설물(Dung,똥)처럼 되었다고 증거하고 있습니다.

        주님을 만나 성령으로 거듭난 사람들은 이미 영적으로 하나님의 나라에 들어가 있기 때문에 이 세상에 속한 것들은 모두가 더러운 배설물로 여겨질 수밖에 없는 것입니다. 자신이 거듭났는지, 아닌지에 대하여 분별하는 지혜가 바로 여기에 있는 것입니다. 그가 전에는 율법을 지켜서 구원을 받아보려고 열심을 내었지만 주님을 만났을 때 그가 그리스도를 빋음으로써 하나님께로부터 나온 의로 말미암아 은혜로 구원받은 것을 깨달았던 것입니다. 다시 말해서 그가 주님을 만났을 때 그의 영적인 눈이 띄어졌던 것입니다. 마치 나면서부터 소경되었던 자가 보게 된 것처럼 된 것입니다. 그가 주님을 만나서 영적인 눈이 떠졌을 때 그는 자신도 모르는 사이에 주님께 말씀드렸습니다: “주여, 내가 어떻게 하기를 원하시나이까?”(행 9:6)

      그때부터 사도 바울의 삶은 주 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 오신 성령님의 인도를 받는 삶을 살았던 것입니다. 그는 로마에 있는 그리스도인들에게 편지할 때, “무릇 하나님의 영으로 인도함을 받는 이들은 곧 하나님의 아들들이니라.”(롬 8:14)고 증거했던 것입니다.

      사도 바울은 마침내 그의 삶의 목표에 대하여 구체적으로 증거하고 있습니다:

 첫째로, 그리스도를 알고 그의 부활의 능력과 그의 고난의 교제를 깨달아 그분께서 죽으시고 부횔하신 것처럼 자신도 자신이 죽는 삶을 통하여 부활의 능력을 알고자 하는 삶이었습니다.

 둘째로, 그의 최종 목표는 그리스도의 날, 즉 휴거의 날에 그리스도의 영광스러운 몸같이 변화된 것이었습니다.

 셋째로, 이생에서나 내생에서 모두 고난과 죽음을 통하여 그리스도의 부활의 능력을 덧입기를 바라보면서 그는 자신이 그리스도의 날에 그리스도의 심판석에서 받을 상을 바라보았습니다. 그 부르심의 상을 바라보면서 미리 미리 푯대를 정해놓고 그 푯대를 향해 좇아갈 뿐이라고 말했습니다.

        그가 정해 놓았던 푯대에 대하여서는 그의 서신서들을 통하여 알 수 있습니다:

      그는 의의 면류관을 받는 푯대를 정해 놓고 주의 임하심을 간절하게 사모했습니다(딤후 4:8), 또한 그는 기쁨의 면류관을 바라보면서 구령하는 일에 전심을 다했습니다. 그는자신이 전도하고 양육하던 빌립보 교회 형재들에게 “나의 사랑하고 사모하는 형제들아, 나의 기쁨이요 면류관인, 나의 참으로 사랑하는 자들아, 주 안에서 이처럼 굳게 서라.”(빌 4:1)고 권면했습니다.

      그는 썩지 않을 면류관을 바라보면서 고린도 교회 성도들에게 “이기려고 애쓰는 사람은 누구나 모든 일에 자제하나니 이제 그들은 썩어질 면류관을 받으려 하지만 우리는 썩지 않을 면류관을 받고자 함이라.”(고전 9:26)고 증거했습니다.

      또한 그는 사도 야고보와 요한이 증거한 것처럼 모든 시험을 견뎌내고 시련을 거친 후애 자기를 사랑하는 자들과 죽기까지 신실한 자들에게 약속하신 생명의 면류관을 바라보았습니다(약 1;12, 계 2;10).

      뿐만 아니라 사도 베드로를 통하여 증거하신 시들지 않는 영광의 면류관을 바라보면서 하나님께서 맡겨주신자들을 지배하지 않고 양무리들의 본이 되는 삶을 살았던 것입니다(벧전 5:3,4).

      그렇습니다! 그리스도의 날, 즉 우리가 주님을 만나는 날에 받고자 하는 상을 미리 정해 놓고 그 푯대를 좇아기는 삶을 살 때에 오늘의 삶을 지혜롭게 살 수 있는 것입니다. 그럭저럭 매일 매일 생각 없이 사는 삶은 하나님의 눈에는 이성 없이 사는 짐승과 별반 차이 없이 보이게 될 것입니다. 그러므로 성령 안에 있는 일곱 영 안에는 “계획의 영“(사 11:2)이 있는 것입니다.

        지금부터 그리스도의 날에 받고자 하는 상을 바라보면서 미리 푯대를 정해 놓는 사람은 하루 하루를 어떻게 살아야 하는 지혜 가운데 부르심의 상을 준비하는 삶을 살 수 있는 것입니다. 마치 개미들이 겨울이 올 때에 먹을 것을 준비하기 위하여 땀흘리며 여름내내 미리 준비하는 지혜가 필요한 것입니다. 우리는 아무 생각 없이 여름 내내 노래만 부르다가 겨울에 먹을 것이 없어 개미 집에 기웃거리는 베짱이같은 부끄러운 삶이 되지 말아야 할 것입니다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week” Psalms 96:1-13

Main scripture: Philippians 3:1-14

Subject: Have you set up the mark for the prize of high calling?

        In the main passage, Apostle Paul gives us his testimony of his life comparing the carnal one “before born again” with the spiritual one “post born again”. He testifies of his new mark after he is born again. Recollecting his carnal life before he was born again of the Spirit, he is warning of dogs, and of evil workers as he was.

        Of dogs, the LORD God had prophet Isaiah prophesy:

“All ye beasts of the field, come to devour, yea, all ye beasts in the forest. His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.

Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.

Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to morrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.”(Isaiah 56:9-12)

        Apostle Peter also testified of false teachers like Balaam as dogs: “But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.”(2pet. 2:22)

      Apostle John also testified of dogs in the Spirit what kinds of group they are, and where they are going to eternally: “For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.”(Rev. 22:15)

      Jesus spoke about where is “without”(outside):

“But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth……Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth….And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”(matt. 8:12; 22:13; 25:30)

        The place “without”(outer or outside) means the very place of “Hell” as clarified by the word of God. Even nowadays, so many dogs occupies churches to seduce carnal Christians so that they may follow them instead of Christ. Apostle Paul confessed, he was one of them before. He confessed of himself as boasting himself as good servant of God in the midst of persecuting born again Christians as he considered them the enemies of God; even he had much passion to kill them. In other word, his mark of life was to persecute Christians, and even to kill them.

        Before he was born again of the Spirit, he had confidence in the flesh; Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel. of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of Hebrews, and touching the law, a Pharisee. But because of ignorance of Jesus Christ who gave the law, he persecuted God that is Jesus Christ. Now, he testifies of himself after he was born again, his mark of life was changed hundred eighty degree.

          Before he was born again, he was pursuing gains to his flesh, now what the things were gain to him, he counts loss for Christ. Of the reason why his life is changed, he counts all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus his Lord. And he made ALL-IN to know Christ Jesus; and he suffered the loss of all things, and does count them but dung, so that he may win Christ.

        The born again Christian who saw the Lord is already in the kingdom of God spiritually; the things belong to the world must be seen as dung. To examine whether man is born again of the Spirit or not, this may be one of good wisdom. He used to have zeal to observe the law for his salvation, finally he understood not in his own righteousness which is of the law, but which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith. In other word, his spiritual eyes were opened when he saw the Lord Jesus as the blind from the birth saw when he saw the Lord. As soon as his spiritual eyes were opened upon seeing Jesus, he spoke unto the Lord right away saying, “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?”(Acts 9:6)

        Since then, Apostle Paul had been led by the Holy Ghost who came in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. So he testified to the saints in Rome saying, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”(Rom. 8:14)

        Apostle Paul testifies of his mark of life thereafter:

 Firstly, he wanted to know Christ Jesus, and the power of resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.

 Secondly, he wanted to be changed gloriously in the day of Christ, that is the day of Rapture as the glorious body of Christ.

 Thirdly, expecting to be clothed with the power of resurrection of Christ through the suffering and death in the present time as well as in the life to come, he set up the mark of the prize to be awarded at the judgment seat of Christ in the day of Christ. Looking forward the prize of the high calling, he set the mark to pursue it.

        Of the mark that was set up by him, he mentioned in his letters to the churches:

       He set up the mark to receive the crown of righteousness, and loved appearing of Christ Jesus the Lord (2Tim. 4:8)

        Also looking forward the crown of joy, he dedicated his life to win souls unto salvation. He encouraged the saint of Philippians with words of God saying, whom he evangelized and ministered

“Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.”(Phil. 4:1)

     He, also looking forward the crown incorruptible, encouraged to

“And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.”(1Cor. 9:25)

      As Apostle James as well as Apostle John testified, he was looking for the crown of life that is given unto them that love God enduring temptation in trial, and be faithful unto death (James 1:12, Rev. 2:10)

        Looking for a crown of glory that fades not away testified by Apostle Peter, he became not lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock (1Pet. 5:3,4)

      Yea! It is the way of living with wisdom, if we set the goal of rewards to receive in the day of Christ when we see the Lord in the air, and live according to the mark of life. If we live day by day without any thought looking for the reward, to the eyes of the Lord, we may be like kind of animal without reason. Therefore, the spirit of counsel that is planning in the spirit of the LORD (Isa. 11:2)

        Henceforth, whosoever set up the goal looking forward the prize of high calling of God, is supposed to live preparing the prize of calling with wisdom. As ants prepare their food in summer with sweat for coming winter, we also need such kind of wisdom. We are not called as grasshoppers singing through never working in whole summer, and begging around the house of ants. Amen! Hallelujah!
