금주의 묵상: 시편 105:1-45
본문: 출애굽기 14:13-28
제목: 세상으로부터 나온 자신의 자녀들을 위하여 싸우시는 하나님

하나님께서는 아브라함에게 오래 전에 미리 말씀하셨습니다: “너는 분명히 알지니 네 씨가 자기 땅이 아닌 곳에서 타국인이 되어 그들을 섬길 것이요, 그들이 사백 년 동안 네 자손을 괴롭게 하겠고 그들이 섬길 그 민족을 내가 또한 심판하리니, 그 후에 그들이 큰 재물을 가지고 나오리라.”(창 15:13,14)
하나님께서는 자신의 말씀을 이루시기 위해 이집트라는 강한 나라가 나타나게 하셨으며, 요셉을 이집트에 종으로 팔려가도록 하셨습니다. 그후에 온 땅에 기근을 보내셔서 카나안 땅에 거하는 아브라함의 자손들이 이집트로 갈 수밖에 없는 상황을 만드셨습니다. 미리 요셉을 보내셔서 그들이 평안히 거할 준비를 마치게 하신 하나님께서는 앞으로 400년 동안 종살이 할 것을 알지 못한 채 이집트 땅에 들어가게 하셨습니다. 성경을 통해 우리가 알아야 하는 한 가지 중요한 역사적 사실은 세계 제국들의 흥망성쇠 모두가 하나님의 백성들을 징계하시는 도구들로 사용하시고 그후에는 그 나라들을 심판하신다는 것입니다.

결국 요셉이 죽고 요셉이 모르는 파라오가 등장하면서 이스라엘 자손들은 하나님께서 미리 말씀하신 대로 이집트에서400년 동안 종살이했던 것입니다. 또한 그들이 이집트로부타 나올 때에 하나님의 말씀대로 은패물, 금패물과 의복들을 이집트인들로부터 취하여 큰 재물을 가지고 나왔습니다. 그들이 이집트 땅에 있었던 기간이 430년이었지만 30년 동안 요셉이 살아있을 때까지는 이집트의 종이 되지 않았던 것을 알 수 있습니다.

그들이 파라오의 종으로 400년 동안 살게 될 것을 말씀하신 후에 하나님께서 아브라함에게 한 가지 조건 없는 언약을 주셨습니다: “내가 이 땅을 이집트 강에서부터 큰 강 유프라테스까지 네 씨에게 주었으니 켄인들과 크니스인들과 캇본인들과 힛인들과 프리스인들과 르파인들과 아모리인들과 카나안인들과 기르가스인들과 여부스인들의 땅이니라.”(창 15:18-21)
하나님께서는 그들이 나중에 이집트로부터 나와서 다시 모세와 여호수아를 통하여 약속의 땅 카나안 땅으로 다시 귀환하게 될 것을 말씀하셨으며, 먼 훗날 온 세상에 흩어져 박해 가운데 살다가 야곱의 고난의 때, 즉 7년 대 환란 때에 그리스도를 죽인 죄를 회개하는(슥 12:10) 남은 자들이 예수 그리스도의 인도 아래 아브라함에게 약속하신 팔레스타인 땅에 들어가서 영원무궁토록 그리스도의 왕국에서 살게 될 것을 미리 말씀셨던 것입니다.

오늘 본문에서는 하나님께서 미리 예언하신 대로 파라오가 열 번째 재앙을 견디지 못하고 하나님의 백성들을 내보내게 됨에 따라 모세를 따라 이집트 땅을 나오게 하셨을 때 카나안 땅에 가까운 필리스타인 땅을 통과하지 않게 하시고 그들을 광야 길로 인도하셨습니다. 이는 그들이 전쟁을 하게 될 때에 이집트로부터 나온 것을 후회하게 되어 다시 돌아갈까 염려하셨기 때문이었습니다 (출 13:17).
그리고 하나님께서는 홍해가 앞을 가로막고 있는 곳에 진을 치게 하셨습니다. 그리고 파라오의 마음을 다시 완악하게 하셔서 그들로 하여금 병거들을 거느리고 이스라엘 백성을 추격하도록 하셨습니다.

하나님께서 이 모든 일을 허락하신 이유에 대하여 “내가 파라오의 마음을 완악하게 하리니 그가 그들의 뒤를 쫓으리라. 그리하여 내가 파라오와 그의 모든 군대 위에서 영예를 얻으리니 이집트인들로 내가 주인 줄 알게 하리라.”(출 14:4)고 말씀하셨습니다.

이 사실을 알지 못하는 백성들은 이집트인들을 보게 되었을 때 심히 두려워하여 주께 부르짖었습니다. 마침내 그들의 인도자 모세를 향하여 부르짖었습니다”이집트에 무덤이 없어서 네가 우리를 이끌어 내어 광야에서 죽게 하느냐? 어찌하여 네가 우리를 이집트에서 데리고 나와서 우리에게 이같이 행하느냐? 우리가 이집트에세 너에게 한 말이 이것이 아니냐? 말하기를 ‘우리를 내버려 두라. 우리가 이집트인들을 섬기리라. 우리가 광야에서 죽는 것보다 이집트인들을 섬기는 것이 더 나았겠노라.”(출 14:11,12)

그들은 이집트에서 400년 동안 종살이 하던 그들을 해방시키시기 위해 모세를 통하여 열 가지 재앙으로 이집트를 치신 것을 보았지만 여전히 그들은 하나님의 신뢰하는 믿음이 전혀 없었던 것입니다. 하나님께서는 앞으로 그들이 40년 동안 광야를 헤매면서 믿음을 버리고 마음이 완악하게 될 것을 미리 아시고 이집트를 나와서 앞으로 뱀과 전갈이 있는 삭막한 땅을 지나면서 하나님만 신뢰하도록 하기 위한 첫 번째 일을 준비하신 것입니다.

뒤에는 파라오 군대, 앞에는 홍해가 가로막고 있으니 하나님을 볼 수 없는 그들로서는 꼼짝 없이 바다에 빠져 전멸당한다는 것 외에는 어떤 다른 방도가 없었던 것입니다.

마침내 인도자 모세는 믿음으로 외쳤습니다: “너희는 두려워 말고 가만히 서서 주께서 오늘 너희에게 보여주실 주의 구원을 보라. 너희가 오늘 본 이집트인을 다시는 영원히 보지 못하리라. 주께서 너희를 위하여 싸우시리니 너희는 가만히 있을지니라.”(출 14:13,14)

모세가 하나님을 믿음으로 백성들에게 선포하는 것을 들으신 하나님께서 비로소 말씀하셨습니다.: “너는 어찌하여 내게 부르짖느냐? 이스라엘 자손들에게 말하여 앞으로 나아가게 하고 너는 네 막대기를 들어 네 손을 바다 위로 뻗쳐서 그것을 가르라. 그리하면 이스라엘 자손들이 바다 가운데를 통과해서 마른 땅 위를 가리라. 내가, 보라, 내기 이집트인들의 마음을 완악하게 하리라. 그러면 그들이 백성들을 따라가리니 내가 파라오와 그의 모든 군대와 그의 병거들과 그의 기병들 위에서 영예를 얻으리라. 내가 파라오와 그의 병거들과 그의 기병들 위에서 영예를 얻고 나서야 이집트인들은 내가 주인 줄 알리라.”(출 14:15-18)

마침내 하나님께서 말씀하신 대로 바다 속으로 이스라엘 자손들을 추격한 이집트인들은 한 사람도 남김 없이 모두 전멸당했으나 이스라엘 백성들은 한 사람도 죽지 않고 구원을 받게 되었던 것입니다. 이스라엘이 주께서 이집트인들에게 행하신 위대한 일을 보고 그 백성이 주를 두려워하고 주와 그의 종 모세를 비로소 믿게 되었습니다.

“십계(十戒)”라는 영화를 통하여 세상 사람들도 다 아는 본문에 나타난 역사적 사실을 통해 이집트같은 세상에서 종살이 하다가 모세보다 더 위대하신 하나님이신 그리스도 예수를 믿어 그분을 따라 세상으로부터 나온 우리들에게 주시는 교훈을 깨닫는다면 광야같은 세상을 통과하는 여정에서 믿음의 삶을 살게 될 것입니다.

하나님께서는 자신의 말씀들을 통하여 우리 앞에 일어날 일들을 미리 말씀하시고 기록하신 책을 우리에게 주셨습니다. 우리는 영적으로는 파라오같은 마귀의 종으로부터 해방되어 자유인들이 되었지만, 여전히 마귀가 통치하는 이집트같은 세상에 물리적으로 살고 있다는 것을 잊어서는 안될 것입니다. 사도 베드로는 오늘을 살고 있는 우리들에게 “정신을 차리고 깨어 있으라. 이는 너희의 대적 마귀가 울부짖는 사자처럼 삼킬 자를 두루다니기 때문이니라. 믿음 안에 굳게 서서 그를 대적하라. 이는 세상에 있는 너희 형재들도 동일한 고난을 당하는 줄 앎이니라. 그러나 모든 은혜의 하나님, 곧 그리스도 예수로 인하여 그의 영원한 영광으로 우리를 부르신 그분께서, 너희가 잠깐 고난을 받은 후에 너희를 온전케 하시고, 견고케 하시며, 힘을 주시고, 확고히 하시느니라.”(벧전 5:8-10)고 권면했습니다.

사도 바울은 고린도교회에게 편지할 때에, 이스라엘 백성들이 모세를 따라 홍해를 통과한 것에 대하여 당시 그들이 모두 구름과 바다 속에서 모세를 따라 민족적으로 물침례를 받았다고 증거했습니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 그후에 이스라엘 백성들이 광야를 통과하면서 극심한 기갈을 겪은 후 반석으로부터 영적 음료를 마셨으나 불행하게도 그들 대부분이 믿음이 없음을 인하여 광야에서 죽었던 것을 기억하라고 경고했습니다. 또한 음행하다가 하루에 이만 삼천 명이 죽었으며 하나님을 시험하다가 뱀에게 물려죽었고 불평하다가 멸망당했던 사실을 예로 들면서 그들에게 일어난 모든 일들이 본보기가 되고 특히 세상 끝날들을 당한 우리에게 권면으로 기록되었다고 증거했습니다 (고전 10:1-11).

사도 바울은 어려운 마지막 때를 살고 있는 우리들에게 권면하고 있습니다: “사람에게 흔히 닥치는 시험 외에는 너희가 당한 것이 없나니 하나님께서는 신실하셔서 너희가 감당할 수 있는 것 이상으로 시험을 당하지 않게 하시고 시험을 당하면 피할 길도 마련하셔서 너희로 능히 감당케 하시느니라.”(고전 10:13)
주님께서도 세상을 떠나시기 얼마 전에 제자들에게 말씀하셨습니다: “보라, 너희가 각자 자기 집으로 흩어지고 나를 혼자 남겨 놓을 그 때가 오나니, 실로 이미 왔노라. 그러나 나는 혼자 있지 아니하니, 이는 아버지께서 나와 함께 계심이라. 내가 이런 일들을 너희에게 말한 것은 너희가 내 안에서 화평을 지니게 하려함이라. 세상에서는 너희가 환난을 당할 것이나 기운을 내라. 내가 세상을 이겼노라.”(요 16:32,33)

사험이나 환난이 홍해처럼 우리 앞을 가로 막을 때 우리가 할 일은 “두려워 말고 가만히 서서 주께서 나에게 보여주실 구원을 보라!”고 혼에게 외치면서 들려오는 주님의 음성을 듣고 행할 때 모든 환난 가운데서 도우시는 주님의 팔을 경험하게 될 것입니다.
모세는 죽기 전에 마지막 말을 남겼습니다: “영원하신 하나님의 팔이 아래에 있도다. 그분께서 네 앞에서 그 원수를 쫓아내시며 말씀하시기를 ‘그들을 멸하라.’ 하시리로다.”(신 33:27)
그렇습니다. 엣날 파라오의 군대를 멸하신 주님께서는 지금도 우리 앞에 가시면서 우라의 원수 마귀들를 쫓아내시며 “그들을 멸하라.”라고 외치신다는 사실을 믿음으로 살아야 할 것입니다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 105:1-45
Main scripture: Exodus 14:13-28
Subject: God is fighting for his children that came out of the world

The LORD God had foretold unto Abraham long time ago:
“Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them,; and they shall afflict them for hundred years; and also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge; and afterward shall they come out with great substance.”(Gen. 15:13,14)
To fulfill his word, God brought forth Egypt, a great nation; and made Joseph be sold as a slave to Egypt. Afterwards, God brought forth famine to all the earth to enforce the children of Abraham to move to Egypt. God had sent Joseph to Egypt for him to prepare for his people in peace. They entered into Egypt not knowing their future in Egypt living as slaves of Pharaoh for 400 years. We have to understand a very important historical fact; The LORD God had raised many kingdoms to chasten his people, and judged the kingdom after he used them as the instrument to discipline his people.
After Joseph died, and a new Pharaoh that not knew Joseph appeared; their slavery for 400 years began as God spoke unto Abraham. And when they came out of Egypt, they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment as God foretold unto Abraham. Actually they lived as slaves for 430 years; they could have lived in freedom for 30 years before Joseph died.

After the LORD God spoke of their slavery for 400 years, he gave a covenant without condition unto Abraham: “Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates: The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,
And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,
And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”(Gen. 15:18-21)

God told him that they shall come out of Egypt to return to the promised land, Canaan led by Moses and Joshua; and also in the far future, the remnant of Israel shall repent that they killed their Messiah(Zech. 12:10) in the midst of the Great Tribulation that is the trouble of Jacob to be led by Jesus Christ to the promised land as God promised unto Abraham to live in the kingdom of Christ forever.

In the main passage, as God foretold, Pharaoh couldn’t endure the tenth wrath, and let them go followed Moses. God led them not though the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest
peradventure the people repent when they see war (Ex. 13:17). And God let them encamp at the place being blocked by Red Sea; and God hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh.

God spoke unto Moses of the reason why he hardened the heart of Pharaoh to pursued them: “And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so.”(Ex. 14:4)

Not knowing the will of God, they cried out unto the LORD God in the fear when they saw the Egyptians. They continue to cry out unto Moses: “Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.”(Ex. 14:11,12)

They had already seen the hand of the LORD God striking Egypt with ten wrath through Moses; but they had no faith in God at all. Knowing them to wander without faith in the wilderness for 40 years hardening their heart forsaking their faith, God just prepared the first thing so that they may trust in the LORD passing the desert where snakes and scorpions prevail.

The army of Pharaoh behind them, and Red Sea ahead of them; they were sure for them all to be destroyed in the sea without any other ideas at all. Then Moses cried out by faith: “Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”(Ex. 14:13,14)

Upon hearing the word of Faith spoken by Moses, God spoke unto them finally: “Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:
But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.”(Ex. 14:15-18)

As God said, all Egyptians were destroyed in the sea without even one survived; but none of Israelis was killed at all. Finally, Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians; and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.

Through this historical fact appeared in the main passage well known to the world through the movie “Ten Commandments”, we shall live by faith passing through the world as the wilderness, if we understand the teaching given unto us who came out of the world led by Jesus Christ by faith.
God has given us the word of God in which he has foretold of what to happen before us. We has been free delivered from the devil like Pharaoh spiritually, but we are living in the world physically. Apostle Peter encouraged us living in the end time: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you”(1Pet. 5:8-11)

Apostle Paul wrote unto Corinthians saying, people of Israel were baptized in the cloud and in the sea following Moses; and they did all drink flowing out spiritual Rock after they were trouble without water, but unfortunately most of them died in the wilderness without faith; he reminded them of Israel in the wilderness. He also testified, they fell in one day three and twenty thousand in the midst of doing fornication; some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents; some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. He warned them, all these things happened unto them for ensamples; and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come (1Cor. 10:1-11).

Apostle Paul also encourages unto us living in end time:
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”(1Cor. 10:13)
Jesus Christ spoke unto his disciples just before he left the world:
“Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”(John 16:32,33)

Whenever temptation or tribulation as Red Sea block our way, we have to cry out unto our soul saying as Moses, ” Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day”. When we hear the voice of the Lord and walk according to his voice, w shall experience the arms of the Lord, our helper.

Moses left his final word for Israel: “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.”(Deut. 33:27)
Yea! Our Lord that destroyed the army of Pharaoh is still walking before us casting out devils shouting, ” Destroy them; we have to live by faith. Amen Hallelujah!
