금주의 묵상: 시편 47:1-9

본문: 창세기 17:15-27

제목: 예수 그리스도를 믿어 약속의 자녀들이 된 하나님의 은혜

       아브람이 구십구 세가 되었을 때 하나님께서 그에게 나타나셔서 “나는 전능한 하나님이라. 내 앞에서 행하라. 그리고 너는 완전하라.”(창 17:1)고 말씀하셨습니다. 아브람에게 나타나셨던 주 여호와 하나님은 아브라함의 하나님, 이삭의 하나님, 야곱의 하나님이시며 주 예수 그리스도의 하나님, 우리 영광의 아버지이신 전능하신 하나님이십니다.

      하나님께서 아브람과 한 언약을 세우시겠다고 밀씀하시면서, “너를 심히 번성케 하리라….너는 많은 민족들의 아비가 되리라. 네 아름을 더 이상 아브람이라 부르지 않고, 네 이름을 아브라함이라 하리니, 이는 내가 너를 많은 민족들의 아비가 되게 하였음이라. 내가 너를 심히 다산하게 하리니, 내가 네게서 민족들을 이루며, 네게서 많은 왕들이 나오게 하리라. 내가 너와 네 뒤에 올 네 씨 사이에 대대로 내 언약을 세우리니, 영원한 언약을 삼고 너와 네 씨의 하나님이 되리라. 내가 너와 네 뒤에 올 네 씨에게 타국인으로 있는 땅, 즉 카나안의 모든 땅을 주어 영원한 소유가 되게 하며, 나는 그들의 하나님이 되리라.”(창 17:2-8)고 말씀하셨습니다.

        아브람이 팔십육 세 때에 여종 하갈을 통하여 이스마엘이 태어났을 때에는 하나님께서 아브람에게 어떤 약속도 주시지 않았는데 하나님께서 그가 구십구 세가 되었을 때 다시 나타나셔서 또 다른 아들을 주실 것을 말씀하셨습니다. 또한 그 언약의 표적으로 할례를 정하시어 자신의 영원한 언약이 그들의 살에 있을 것이라고 말씀하셨습니다. 또한 할례를 받지 아니한 사내 아이는 그의 백성 중에서 끊어질 것이라고 말씀하셨습니다(창 17:9-14).

      하나님께서는 아브람에게 영원한 언약을 주시기 전에 우선 먼저 자신이 전능하신 하나님이시라는 사실을 말씀하시면서 전능하신 하나님을 믿어 완전하게 행하라고 말씀하셨습니다. 또한 할례의 표적까지 더불어 주심으로써 이제 말씀하실 언약을 분명히 이루실 것을 말씀하셨던 것입니다. 아브람에게 주실 영원한 언약은 사람으로서는 믿고 행할 수 있는 가능성이 전혀 없는 것이었습니다. 또한 하나님께서는 오늘날 우리들에게도 자신이 전능하신 하나님이심을 믿고 완전하게 행하라고 우리에게 주신 성경말씀을 통하여 여전히 말씀하시고 있는 것입니다.

      이제 본문 말씀을 통하여 마침내 하나님께서 언약의 말씀을 주시고 있습니다. 언약의 말씀을 주시기 전에 아브라함의 아내 “사래”에게 “사라”라는 새 이름을 주셨습니다. 또한 팔십구 세가 된 사라가 한 아들을 낳을 것이라고 말씀하셨습니다. 그녀 또한 모든 민족들의 어미가 될 것이며 백성의 왕들이 그녀에게서 나올 것이라고 말씀하셨습니다.

    이때, 아브라함은 전능하신 하나님에 대해 잊어버리고 주의 면전에서 엎드려 웃으며 “벡 세가 된 사람에게 아들이 태어날 수 있으리요?”라고 마음 속으로 말했습니다. 그 순간 그는 하갈을 통하여 낳은 “이스마엘이나 주 앞에서 살게 해 주소서“라고 말했습니다. 그때 하나님께서는 다시 한 번 아브라함에게 말씀하셨습니다. “네 아내가 참으로 네게 한 아들을 낳을 것이라. 너는 그의 이름을 이삭(웃음)이라 하라. 내가 그와 그의 뒤에 올 그의 씨에게 내 언약을 세우리니, 영원한 언약이 되리라.”고 말씀하셨습니다.

        하나님께서는 이스마엘에게도 복을 주실 것이며 그가 다산하게 되어 심히 번성하게 될 것이고 그가 열두 통치자를 낳을 것이며 그로 큰 민족을 이루게 하실 것이라고 말씀하시면서 그러나 자신의 영원한 언약은 사라가 내년 이맘 때 낳을 이삭과 세우리라고 다시 한 번 분명하게 말씀하셨습니다.

      그러면 아브라함에게 주신 영원한 언약이 무엇을 의미하는지 살펴볼 때 그 언약 속에 들어 있는 우리에게 주신 영원한 축복에 대하여 다시 한 번 깨닫는 축복의 시간이 될 것입니다. 또한 이 축복을 모든 사람들에게 전하는 일이 무엇보다도 지혜로운 일이며 축복된 일이라는 것을 알게 될 것입니다. 하나님의 지혜를 받은 솔로몬 왕은 이 축복에 대하여“지혜는 그것을 얻는 자에게 생명 나무니, 그것을 지니는 자는 행복하니라….의로은 자는 생명의 나무니, 혼들을 이겨오는 자는 현명하니라.”(잠11:30; 3:18)고 증거했습니다. 그리하여 솔로몬왕은 성령을 통하여 후세에 이삭의 후손으로 지혜이시며 지혜로 천지를 창조하신 하나님께서 이삭의 혈통으로 이 땅에 태어나실 것을 알았던 것입니다.

      하나님께서 아브라함에게 주신 영원한 첫 번째 언약은 이스마엘이 아닌 이삭을 통하여 태어난 육신적인 자녀들, 다시 말해서 유대인들이 때가 될 때에 북쪽 큰 강 유프라데스 강으로부터 남쪽 이집트 강에 이르는 팔레스타인 땅 전체를 영원히 차지하게 되는 약속을 주신 것입니다. 다시 말해서 예수 그리스도께서 이 땅에 다시 오셔서 모든 민족들을 심판하신 후 그의 왕국을 세우실 때에 유대인의 남은 자들이 그 땅을 차지하고 온 땅의 제사장 민족이 될 것을 약속하신 것입니다.

      두 번째로 이 언약은 영적인 언약으로서 하나님께서 이에 대하여 별도로 분명하게 말씀하셨습니다: “네 아내 사라가 참으로 한 아들을 네게 낳을 것이라. 너는 그의 이름을 이삭이라 하라. 내가 그와 그의 뒤에 올 그의 씨에게 내 언약을 세우리니, 영원한 언약이 되리라…..그러나 나는 나의 언약을 사라가 내년 이맘 때 네게 낳아 줄 이삭과 더불어 세우리라.”(창 17:19, 21)

      하나님께서는 이삭이 장성하였을 때 아브리함에게 “네 아들, 곧 네가 사랑하는 네 독자 이삭을 이제 데리고 모리야 땅으로 가서, 산들 중에서 내가 네게 알려 줄 한 산에서 그를 번제로 드려라.”(창 22:2)고 말씀하셨습니다. 독자 이삭을 통하여 전능하신 하나님을 믿게 된 그는 그를 죽여도 하나님께서 살려주실 것을 믿음으로써 아침 일찍 일어나서 떠났던 것입니다. 이 사실에 대하여 성령께서는 히브리서 기자를 통하여 말씀하셨습니다: “믿음으로 아브라함은 시험을 받을 때 이삭을 제물로 드렸으니, 그 약속들을 받은 자가 그의 독생자를 드린 것이라. 그에 관하여 말씀하시기를 ‘네 씨라 불릴 자는 이삭에게서 난 자라.’고 말씀하셨으니 그는 하나님께서 그를 죽은 자 가운데서 다시 받은 것이니라.”(히 11:17-19)

        하나님께서는 아버지 아브라함과 함께 나무를 등에 지고 모리아 산에 오르는 이삭의 모습을 통하여 하나님께서 자신의 독생자를 이삭의 혈통을 통하여 사람으로 태어나게 하셔서 나무 십자가를 등에 지고 옛날 모리아 산에 있는 골고다 언덕길을 오르시게 될 장면을 미리 보여주셨던 것입니다. 사도 바울은 이 진리를 깨닫고 성령 안에서 갈라디아에 있는 성도들에게 증거했습니다: “그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 저주가 되셔서 율법의 저주로부터 우리를 구속하셨으니 기록되기를 ‘나무에 달린 자마다 누구든지 저주받은 자라.’하였도다. 이는 아브라함의 복이 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 이방인들에게 미치게 함이며 또 우리로 하여금 믿음으로 말미암아 성령의 약속을 받게 하려는 것이라….이제 그 약속들은 아브라함과 그의 씨에게 하신 것인데 많은 사람을 가리켜 씨들이라 말씀하지 아니하시고 한 사람을 가리켜 너의 씨라고 말씀하셨으니 그는 그리스도시라.”(갈 3:13,14,16)

        그렇습니다! 하나님께서는 자신의 독생자를 이삭의 혈통으로 이 땅에 태어나게 하셔서 그분 주 예수 그리스도를 통하여 영원한 언약을 이루게 하실 것을 아브라함에게 말씀하셨던 것입니다. 또한 하나님께서는 유대인들 뿐만 아니라 주 예수 그리스도를 믿는 모든 이방인들에게도 성령을 통하여 영원한 생명을 주셔서 자신의 자녀들로 삼으실 것을 말씀하셨던 것입니다. 비록 이스마엘 자손들, 즉 오늘날 아랍인들은 앞으로 팔레스타인 땅을 차지할 수는 없지만 그들 역시 그리스도이신 예수를 믿기만 하면 영원한 약속의 자녀들이 될 수 있는 길을 열어주셨습니다. 또한 모든 이방인들 역시 약속의 아들 이삭의 자손으로 오신 주 예수 그리스도를 믿기만 하면 아브라함의 자손이 되어(갈 3:7) 아브라함에게 주신 약속의 자녀들이 되는 축복을 주신 것입니다. 우리가 전에는 백성이 아니었으나 이제는 하나님의 백성이 되었으며, 전에는 자비를 받지 못했으나 이제는 자비를 얻게 된 것입니다. 비록 우리가 이 땅에서는 타국인 같고 순례자 같이 살고 있을지라도(벧전 2:10) 우리는 주 예수 그리스도의 보혈을 통하여 영원한 하나님의 자녀들이 된 것입니다.

        이 은혜를 깨달은 사도 바울은 로마에 있는 이방인들에게 “내가 그리스도의 복음을 부끄러워하지 아니하노니 이는 이 복음이 믿는 모든 사람을 구원에 이르게 하는 하나님의 능력이 됨이라. 첫째는 유대인에게요, 또한 헬라인에게로다.”(롬 1:16)라고 증거한 것입니다.

하나님께서는 오래전에 조그만 땅에서 소망 없이 살던 우리들까지 구원하시기 위하여 자신이 전능하신 하나님이심을 아브라함과 사라에게 미리 나타내셔서 우리들을 약속의 자녀들로 삼으신 것입니다. 또한 지금은 대부분 모슬렘이 되어버린 이스마엘 자손인 아랍 사람들까지도 주 예수 그리스도를 믿음으로 아브라함의 약속의 자녀들이 되는 길을 열어주신 것입니다. 그리하여 이런 큰 은혜를 우리에게 주신 아브라함의 하나님, 이삭의 하나님, 야곱의 하나님 그리고 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 하나님이신 영광의 아버지께 소리 높여 영광과 존귀와 찬양을 세세무궁토록 돌리게 되는 것입니다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 47:1-9

Subject: Grace of God to be the children of promise through the faith in Jesus Christ

    The LORD God appeared to Abram, and said unto him: “I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.”(Gen. 17:1)

The LORD God, Jehovah who appeared to him is God of Abraham, God of Isaac, God of Jacob, God of the Lord Jesus Christ and our god of Glory, the Almighty.

        The LORD God spoke unto Abram to make his covenant with him, and said unto him: “And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.….

As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.

Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.

And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.

And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.”(Gen. 17:2-8)

        When Ishmael was born through Hagar at his age of eighty six, the LORD God not gave him any covenant; at his age of ninety nine, God spoke unto him to give a birth another son. As the sign for it, God established circumcision saying his covenant shall be in his flesh for an everlasting covenant. He also said unto him, the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he has broken his covenant (Gen. 17:9-14).

        Before God gave Abram the covenant everlasting, he reminded him, he is Almighty God; and asked him to walk before him, and be he perfect. God also gave him a sign of circumcision established so that God will fulfill his covenant forever. The everlasting covenant to be given unto Abram was totally impossible at all to be fulfilled the eyes of man.

God is still speaking unto us through the words of God to have faith in him as Almighty God, and to walk perfect before him.

        Now, in the main passage, God is giving Abram the word of covenant. Before God gave him the word of covenant, he gave a new name unto Sarai as Sarah. And he said unto him, his wife Sarah, eight nine years old shall give a birth a son; and God also said, he will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.

        Then, forgetting the LORD God, Almighty, Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, “Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old?” And he continued to say unto the LORD, “O that Ishmael might live before thee!”

Then, God spoke unto him again, “Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.”

        God said unto Abraham of Ishmael, he will bless him also, and will make him fruitful, and multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he begat, and he will make him a great nation. God also said unto him, he will surely establish his covenant with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto him at this set time in the next year.

        Searching the everlasting covenant given unto Abraham, it shall give us understanding once again of the everlasting blessing in that covenant given unto us. And also, we shall understand how much wise and blessed for us to preach of this blessing unto all men. Understanding this blessing, King Solomon who received the wisdom of God testified of this blessing: “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.… She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.”(Prov. 11:30; 3:13)

King Solomon had known of God that is wisdom and creator with wisdom to be born in the seed of Isaac through the Holy Ghost.

        The first everlasting covenant given unto Abraham to give the land of Palestine, from the river of Egypt to the South unto the great river, the river of Euphrates to the north unto the children of Isaac that is the Jew, not Ishmael, for them to occupy forever when time is fulfilled. In other word, after Jesus Christ judge all the nation upon his second coming, and he establish his kingdom in the earth, the remnant of Israel shall occupy the land of Palestine to be the nation of priest.

        Secondly, another side of covenant is spiritual one: God spoke of this one unto Abraham separately: “Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him…. But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.”(Gen. 17:19,21)

        When Isaac had grown up, God said unto Abraham tempting him saying, “Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.”(Gen. 22;2) And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and left for mountain Moriah believing God the Almighty revealed through the birth of Isaac; and he believed, God will raise Isaac from the dead even though he kills. The Holy Ghost testified through the writer of the book of Hebrew of this, “By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.”(Heb. 11:17-19)

        Through Isaac that carried woods on his back with the father, Abraham, God had shown his only begotten Son to be born in the seed of Isaac who shall carry the cross of wood upon his back in the hilly road, Golgotha in the mountains of Moriah in the future.

Understanding this truth, Apostle Paul testified unto the saints, Galatians:

 “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: hat the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

….. Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds   , as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.”(Gal. 3:13,14,16)

        Yea! God spoke unto Abraham of the everlasting covenant to be fulfilled through his only begotten Son to be born in the blood line of Isaac in the earth. The LORD God also spoke unto Abraham, not only the Jew but also all the Gentiles shall receive everlasting life giving them the Holy Ghost to make them his children when they believe on Jesus Christ.

        Even though the children of Ishmael that is Arabians not received the covenant to occupy the land of Palestine, God has opened the door for them to be the everlasting children of God of promise when they believe on Jesus Christ. And all other nations of people could be the children of Abraham upon believing on Jesus Christ (Gal. 3:7) to be the blessed children of the promise given unto Abraham. In the time past we were not his people, but are now the people of God; which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. Even though we are living as strangers and pilgrims, now we are the children of everlasting God through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ (1Pet. 2:10)..

        Apostle Paul, understanding this grace, testified unto the Gentiles in Rome:

 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”(Rom. 1:16)

        To give salvation even unto us that were born in the small country, Korea living without hope at all, the LORD God revealed unto Abraham and Sarah as the Almighty God to make us the children of promise. And for Arabians that is almost Muslim, the descendants of Ishmael, God has opened the door for them to be the children of promise of God through the faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.. This is the reason why we cannot help giving glory, honor, and praise with hailing forever unto God of Abraham, God of Isaac, God of Jacob, God of our Lord Jesus Christ, our Father of Glory forever more. Amen! Hallelujah!
