금주의 묵상: 시편 105:1-23

본문: 창세기 50:15-26

제목: 요셉과 그의 형들의 삶을 통해 나타난 예수님과 그리스도인의 삶

       하나님의 말씀의 첫 번째 책인 창세기에서 성령께서는 열네 개의 장에 걸쳐 요셉과 그의 형제들에 관하여 기록하셨습니다. 하나님께서 요셉에게 주신 꿈은 아버지 하나님께서 독생자 예수 그리스도에게 주신 꿈과 비교할 수 있습니다. 하나님께서 주신 꿈에 대하여 예수님께서 밤에 찾아온 바리새인 니고데모에게 말씀하셨습니다: “모세가 광야에서 뱀을 들어올린 것같이 인자도 그렇게 들어올려져야만 하리니 이는 그를 믿는 사람은 누구든지 멸망하지 않고 영생을 얻게 하려 하심이니라. 하나님께서 세상을 이처럼 사랑하셔서 그의 독생자를 주셨으니, 이는 그를 믿는 사람은 아무도 멸망하지 않고 영생을 얻게 하려 하심이니라.”(요 3:15,16)

      하나님께서는 요셉을 오실 이스라엘의 메시야이신 예수 그리스도의 모형으로 사용하셔서 하나님께서 그의 독생자를 죄악 세상으로 보내신 것처럼 요셉을 마귀의 모형인 파라오가 통치하는 이집트로 보내셨습니다. 모세를 포함한 많은 선지자들을 통하여 이 세상에 영원한 생명을 주시기 위하여 보내실 메시야, 즉 그리스도에 대하여 미리 말씀하실 때 하나님의 사람들을 오실 메시야의 그림자들로 사용하신 것입니다. 본문에 나오는 요셉 역시 그들 중 하나인 것입니다.

     하나님께서는 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 주신 언약을 이루시기 위하여 비록 야곱(이스라엘)의 후손들 70여명이 약속의 땅에 이미 살고는 있었지만 하나님께서는 그들을 이 죄악 세상같은 이집트로 보내셔서 이집트 파라오 밑에서 사백 년 동안 종살이 하게 하심으로싸 이 세상 통치자인 마귀의 모습을 보고 체험하게 해서 이 세상이 살만한 곳이 못되는 것을 깨닫게 하시려는 것이었습니다. 결국 그들은 파라오가 주는 양식이 아닌 요셉이 주는 양식으로 살게된 것입니다. 마찬가지로 예수 그리스도께서도 자신을 믿은 그리스도인들로 하여금 이 세상이 살만한 곳이 못되는 것을 여러가지 환난들을 통하여 깨닫게 하시고 만왕의 왕, 만주의 주이신 주 예수 그리스도를 기다리는 믿음으로 세상을 이기게 하신 것입니다(계 1911-16, 요일 5:4,5).

     사도 바울은 이집트같은 죄악 세상에 살고 있는 거듭난 그리스도인들을 향하여, “그러므로 우리가 믿음으로 의롭게 되었으니 우리 주 예수 그리스도를 통하여 하나님과 화평을 갖느니라. 또 그분으로 인하여 우리가 서 있는 이 은혜 안에 믿음으로 나아가며 하나님의 영광의 소망 안에서 즐거워하느니라. 이뿐만 아니라 우리가 환난 중에서도 즐거워하나니 환난은 인내를 이루고 인내는 연단을 , 연단은 소망을 이루는 줄 앎이라. 소망이 부끄럽지 않은 것은 우리에게 주신 성령에 의하여 하나님의 사랑이 우리 마음속에 부어졌기 때문이라.”(롬 5:1-5)라고 증거한 것입니다.

     오늘 본문 말씀을 통하여 요셉은 하나님께서 자신에게 주신 모든 꿈이 이루어져서 두번째 통치자가 된 요셉에게 그의 열한 형제들은 요셉의 꿈에서 열한 개의 볏단이 요셉의 볏단에게 절하고 열한 개의 별이 그에게 경의를 표한 것처럼 요셉에게 엎드려 절했습니다(창 43:26).

        또한 이집트로 가는 것을 두려워하고 있는 야곱에게 하나님께서 밤의 환상 가운데 나타나셔서 “야곱아, 야곱아, 나는 하나님이라. 네 아비의 하나님이라. 이집트로 내려가기를 두려워 말라. 내가 그것에서 너로 큰 민족을 이루게 할 것임이라. 내가 너와 함꼐 이집트로 내려갈 것이며 또 내가 반드시 너를 다시 데리고 올라오리라. 요셉이 그의 손으로 네 눈을 감기리라.”(창 46:2-4)는 말씀을 주셨습니다. 결국 모든 이스라엘 자손들이 그와 함께 이집트로 가게 되었습니다. 요셉의 꿈에서 해와 달이 요셉에게 경의를 표한 것처럼 그의 부모 역시 요셉에게 경의를 표하게 하심으로써 하나님께서 요셉에 주신 모든 꿈을 하나도 착오 없이 이루셨습니다.

      죽은 줄로만 알았던 요셉을 본 이스라엘은 요셉에게 “네가 아직 살아 있어 내가 네 얼굴을 보았으니 내가 죽어도 되겠구나.”(창 46:30) 말한 것처럼 하나님께서 자신의 독생자를 파라오같은 마귀가 통치하는 세상에 보내셔서 모든 사람들을 죄와 사망과 저주로부터 구원하여 마귀를 위하여 예비하신 지옥에 보내지 않으시려고 그의 독생자를 죽게 하셨지만 하나님께서는 셋째 날에 그분을 죽은자들로부터 살리시고 자신의 오른 편에 앉히시고 기뻐하시는 아버지 하나님의 모습을 볼 수 있는 것입니다.

     요셉이 자기 형제들에게 자신을 나타내었을 때 그에게 형제들은 너무도 놀란 나머지 그의 면전에서 불안해 했습니다(창 45:3). 그때 요셉은 그의 형제들에게 “내가 당신들에게 부탁하오니, 내게 가까이 오소서. 나는 당신들이 이집트에다 팔았던 당신들의 동생 요셉이니이다. 그러므로 당신들이 나를 이곳에 판 것을 이제는 슬퍼하거나 괴로워하지 마소서. 이는 하나님께서 생명을 보존하시려고 당신들 앞서 나를 보내셨음이니이다.”(창 45:4,5)라고 말했습니다. 요셉은 사도 바울이 성령 안에서 증거한 것처럼 “우리가 알거니와 하나님을 사랑하는 자들, 곧 그분의 목적에 따라 부르심을 받은 자들에게는 모든 일이 합력하여 선을 이루느니라.”(롬 8:28)는 말씀이 자신에게 이루어진 것을 증거하면서 그들을 오히려 위로한 것입니다.

      자, 이제 본문말씀을 통하여 우리는 요셉처럼 모든 고난을 이기시고 우리를 구원하시기 위해 우리가 아직 죄인 되었을 때 우리를 위하여 죽으신 그리스도를 통하여 하나님의 사랑을 받게 되었는데 여전히 주님을 두려워하면서 의심하는 우리들의 모습을 볼 수 있습니다. 마침내 야곱이 죽었을 때 요셉의 형들은 자신들의 아비가 죽은 것을 보고 요셉이 혹시 우리를 미워하여 우리가 그에게 행한 모든 악을 반드시 갚지 않겠는가 하는 생각으로 두려워했습니다. 마침내 그들은 심부름꾼을 요셉에게 보내서 “당신의 아버지가 돌아가시기 전에 명령하여 말씀하시기를 너희는 요셉에게 이렇게 말할지니라. 네 형들이 네게 악을 행하였으나, 내가 이제 네게 청하노니 그들의 허물과 그들의 죄를 용서하라“(창 50:16,17)고 말하도록 했습니다. 여전히 그들은 요셉이 이미 그들을 용서한 것을 의심했던 것입니다. 우리들 역시 주 예수 그리스도의 복음을 믿고 한 번 그분을 영접하기만 하면 모든 죄들이 용서받았는데도 때로 우리가 죄를 지을 때마다 주님의 은혜를 의심함으로써 담대함을 잃어버리는 것을 볼 수 있는 것입니다. 우리가 다른 사람들을 용서(forgive)하지 못하고 그들을 단지 잊어버리는 것(forget)은 우리 주님도 우리 같은 줄로 생각하기 때문인 것입니다.

        요셉은 그들이 여전히 의심하며 두려워하는 것을 보고 울면서 말했습니다. “두려워 마소서 내가 하나님의 자리에 있나이까? 당신들은 나에 대하여 악을 계획했을지라도 하나님께서는 그것을 선으로 계획하시어서 오늘과 같이 많은 백성을 살도록 구원하시려 하셨으니, 그러므로 이제 당신들과 어린 것들을 양육하리이다.”(창 50:19-21) 말하면서 오히려 그들을 위로하면서 그들에게 다정하게 말했습니다. 또한 하나님께서 그들을 반드시 찾아오셔서 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 약속하신 팔레스타인땅인 가나안 약속의 땅으로 인도하실 것이라고 마지막 말을 남겼습니다.

        우리는 요셉의 이야기를 통해서 우리에게 주신 교훈들을 마음에 새겨야 할 것입니다:

   요셉이 서로 다투는 그의 형들을 향해 싸우지 말라고 권면한 것처럼 주님께서도 제자들에게 서로 사랑하라고 말씀했습니다.

   요셉이 형들을 맞으러 나간 것처럼, 주님께서도 우리를 맞으시려고 휴거의 날에 공중에 나타나실 것입니다.

     요셉의 형재들은 이집트 사람들이 가증하게 여기는 목축업에 종사하는 사람들이었던 것처럼, 세상에서 귀하게 여김을 받지 못하던 우리들을 주님께서 자신의 피로 모든 죄악들을 제거하시고 구원하신 것입니다.

       주님께서 이 땅에 오셔서 땅을 분배하시는 것처럼, 요셉도 그들에게 고센 땅을 주어 살게 했습니다.

       기근으로 인하여 모든 땅을 잃어버린 사람들에게 씨를 주어 추수한 것 가운데 오분의 사를 그들에게 주어 그들이 먹고 살 수 있도록 한 것처럼, 주님께서도 씨를 심는 자들에게 씨앗과 먹을 양식을 주시는 것입니다. 사도 바울은 이에 대하여 “이제 씨 뿌리는 자에게 씨앗을 공급하시는 분이 너희의 양식으로 빵을 공급하시며 또한 너희가 뿌린 씨를 번성케 하시고 너희의 의의 열매를 증가시키시리라.”(고후 9:10)고 증거했습니다.

       요셉이 자기 마음을 이해하지 못하는 요셉이 그의 형들로 인하여 운 것처럼, 아직도 예수 그리스도의 은혜를 깨닫지 못하는 우리들을 보시고 우시는 것입니다.

       요셉이 자신의 뼈들을 이집트로부터 옮겨달라고 형들에게 부탁한 것처럼, 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서도 그의 뻐가 하나도 꺽이지 아니하셨으며 부활하신 후에 자신의 피까지도 모두 세상으로부터 하늘로 옮기셨습니다.

       창세기는 하나님께서 생명을 주신 창조로부터 요셉이 이집트에서 죽어서 관에 들어가는 것으로 끝이 납니다. 다시 말해서 누구든지 주 예수 그리스도의 보혈을 믿음으로 생명을 받지 못하면 이집트 같은 세상에서 관에 들어갈 뿐만아니라 생명의 하나님과 영원히 분리된 지옥에서 영원을 보낼 수밖에 없는 것입니다. 그러므로 출애굽기가 없다면 우리는 소망 없는 자가 될 수밖에 없는 것입니다. 그러므로 창세기 다음에 출애굽기로 이어지는 것은 누구든지 주 예수 그리스도의 복음을 믿어 구원받아 앞으로 나타나시는 주 예수 그리스도의 날에 이집트같은 세상에 아무 것도 남겨두지 않고 이 세상을 영원히 떠나 하늘나라로 갈 뿐만 아니라 천년 동안 요셉처럼 이 땅에서 주님과함께 통치하는 꿈을 이루게 되는 것입니다. 그러므로 우리는 요한계시록에 이르는 모든 성경을 공부해야 하는 것입니다.

        주님께서 우리의 구원과 유업을 위하여 모든 일을 다 이루셨으니 우리가 할 수 있는 것은 오직 주 예수 그리스도를 신뢰하는 일 외에 아무것도 없는 것입니다. 이것이 바로 우리에게 주신 은혜인 것입니다.아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 105:1-23

Subject: The Life of Jesus and Christian Manifested through Life of Joseph and His Brothers

      In the book of Genesis, the first book of the scriptures, the Holy Ghost

has written about Joseph and his brothers through fourteen chapters. The dream given unto Joseph from God could be compared to the dream given unto Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God given by God. Of the dream given by Father God, Jesus spoke unto Nicodemus who visited him at night:

“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up. That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”(John 3:15,16)

      AsGod used Joseph as a model of the Messiah of Israel to come in the name of Jesus, and he sent his only begotten Son to the wicked world, the LORD God sent Joseph to Egypt ruled by Pharaoh, the model of the Devil. When the LORD God had spoken of the Messiah, the Christ to give the eternal life unto the world through many prophets including Moses, he used men of God as the shadow of the Messiah to come. Joseph is one of them.

        To fulfill the covenant given unto Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, even though the children of Jacob, Israel seventy of them had already dwelled in the land of promise, but God had to send them to Egypt as the wicked world so that they might be the slaves under Pharaoh for four thousand years; and for them experiencing the prince of the world that is the Devil so that they might understand, the wicked world is not the place to dwell in. In the same manner, Jesus Christ tried to make the Christians that believed on him understand that this world is not the right place to live through various tribulations; and he gave them faith to overcome the world waiting for Jesus Christ coming as King of Kings, Lord of Lords (Rev. 19:11-16, 1John 5:4,5)

       Apostle Paul testified toward the born again Christians living in the evil world as Egypt:

 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord JESUS CHRIST   :

 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the LOVE    of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”(Rom. 5:1-5)

       As we see in the main passage, the dreams of Joseph had been fulfilled as God had given before; and he became the second ruler in Egypt as eleven sheaves bowed down the sheave of Joseph, and eleven stars respected Joseph. After all, his brothers bowed down unto him (Gen. 43:26).

        The LORD God appeared unto Jacob when he was afraid to go to Egypt, And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, “Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I. And he said, I am God, the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation:

I will go down with thee into Egypt; and I will also surely bring thee up again: and Joseph shall put his hand upon thine eyes.”(Gen. 46:2-4)

After all, the children of Israel went to Egypt with Jacob. As the sun and the moon gave respect unto Joseph in his dream, God had his parents also give respect unto him as his dream to fulfill the dreams without any mistake.

        When Israel saw Joseph who was supposed to be dead, he said unto him, “Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou art yet alive.”(Gen. 46:30)

God sent his only begotten Son to the world ruled by the Devil as Pharaoh, and let him die so that all men might be delivered from sin and death and curses not to send them to the hell prepared for the Devil. But God raised him from the dead the third day, and let him sit at his right hand. God pleased to see Jesus Christ, as Jacob was so happy to see Joseph Again.

      When Joseph revealed himself unto his brothers, they were too much surprised, and scared themselves(Gen. 45:3). Seeing them being afraid of him, Joseph said unto them, “Come near to me, I PRAY    you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt. Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.”(Gen. 45:4,5)

As Apostle Paul testified in the Spirit saying, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”(Rom. 8:28), he rather comforted them saying the goodness of God had been fulfilled unto him.

        Now, through the main passages, we may examine ourselves whether we are still afraid of the Lord with doubt, even though as Joseph, Christ overcame all kinds of afflictions, and died for us when we were still sinners to give us the love of God. When Jacob died, Joseph’s brothers were afraid of Joseph if he hated them, and revenge for their evil things done to him. And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, and let him said unto Joseph:

“Thy father did command before he died, saying,

 So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.”(Gen. 50:16,17)

        They were still doubting that Joseph had already forgiven them. What about us? All our sins were forgiven eternally upon believing on the gospel of Christ, and received him; but we may also doubt of the grace of God who has given the forgiveness of our sins, and lose boldness whenever we sin. Why we doubt sometimes? Because sometimes we fail to forgive others, but just forget them; but our Lord God is not like us sinners.

        Joseph wept upon hearing from his brothers still doubt and scared; and said unto them,

“Fear not: for am I in the place of God?

 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.”(Gen. 50:19-21)

He rather comforted them saying them kindly. And he said unto them, God will surely visit them, and bring them out of Egypt unto the land which he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob leaving as his final word before he died.

        The Holt Ghost gives us various teaching through the story of Joseph for us to engrave in our heart:

       As Joseph encouraged his brothers not to argue one to another, our Lord Jesus also commanded his disciples to love one to another.

        As Joseph went out to welcome his brothers, our Lord Jesus will appear in the air to welcome us to heaven in the day of Rapture,

        As the brothers of Joseph were shepherds that were abominable unto Egyptians, we were not noble but abominable in the world, but our Lord Jesus took away all our sins through his blood to save us.

        As our Lord Jesus will allocate the land of the earth when he comes again, Joseph gave them the land of Goshen for them dwell.

        As Joseph gave seeds unto them that lost all their lands, and let them only pay back one fifths(10 percent) out of their harvest so that they may are able to feed them enough, our Lord Jesus also gives not only seeds unto them that sow the seeds as well as food. Apostle Paul testified of this:

“Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)”(2Cor. 9:10)

        As Joseph wept because his brothers not understood him, our Lord Jesus is still weeping for us, whenever we not understand the grace of Jesus Christ.

        As Joseph asked his brothers to carry up his bones from Egypt, the bones of our Lord Jesus Christ not broken at all, and he took all his blood to heaven not leaving at all in the world.

      Book of Genesis begins from the creation of life to be ended when Joseph was put in a coffin in Egypt. In other word, whosoever fails to receive life upon believing on the blood of Jesus Christ shall be put in a coffin in the world as Egypt, and shall be separated from God of life eternally to spend in the hell forever. Therefore, without the book of Exodus, we are to be hopeless forever.

        This is the reason why we have to search the book of Exodus continuously even unto the book of Revelation. Therefore, the book of Exodus next to Genesis guide us the salvation for us believe the gospel of Christ to be delivered from the world as Egypt not leaving anything at all in the world, and leave the world eternally unto the heavenly kingdom, and reign with Christ for thousand years so that our dreams shall come true. Since our Lord Jesus finished all the works for our salvation as well as for our inheritance in heaven, only thing that we can do is to trust the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the gospel of grace. Amen! Hallelujah!
