금주의 묵상: 시편 15:1-5

본문: 데살로니가전서 4:1-7

제목: 그의 자녀들을 향한 하나님의 뜻

       하나님께서는 자신의 형상대로 만드신 사람이 죄로 인해 거룩함을 잃어버린 이후로 하나님의 거룩하심을 다시 회복시키시기 위하여 쉬지 않으시고 지금도 일하시고 계시는 것입니다. 이를 위하여 하나님께서는 아브라함의 자손들을 자신의 백성들로 택하시고 율법을 주셔서 자신의 거룩하심을 나타내셨습니다.

     하나님의 형상대로 지으신 사람들이 율법을 어기고 죄를 지을 때마다 하나님께서는 죄 없는 수많은 희생제물들을 죽이시면서 죄인들에게 죄없으신 하나님의 거룩하심을 나타내셨던 것입니다. 그러나 그들이 자신들이 드린 희생제물을 통하여 지은 죄들을 용서받을 수는 있었지만 그들 양심 속에 깊히 박혀있는 죄들을 제거할 수는 없었습니다(히 10:11). 짐승의 피는 그들의 육신의 죄들을 잠시 동안 덮어 줄 수밖에 없었기 때문입니다. 하나님께서는 율법 안에서 죽은 아브라함의 자손들을 약속하신 메시야가 나타나실 때까지 땅 속에 있는 아브라함의 품에서 기다리게 하셨습니다.

     예수께서 죽으시기 전에 부자와 거지 나사로에 대한 말씀을 하실 때 거지 나사로의 혼이 아브라함의 품에 간 사실을 친히 말씀하셨습니다. 그러나 부자의 혼은 아브라함의 품인 낙원과 마주보는 곳에 있는 지옥에 간 사실을 친히 증거햐셨습니다.

     본문에서 사도 바을은 데살로니가 교회 성도들에게 편지하면서, 하나님깨서 그들을 부르시어 혼의 구원을 주신 뜻은 거룩함에 이르게 하려 하려 하심이라고 증거했습니다. 그러나 사도 바울이 히브리인들에게 편지할 때, 그는 “그 뜻에 따라 모든 사람을 위하여 한 번 예수 그리스도의 몸을 드리심으로 우리가 거룩하게 된 것이라.”(히 10:10)고 증거했습니다. 뿐만 아니라, “그가 한 번의 제사로써 거룩하게 된 자들을 영원히 온전케 하셨기 때문이라.”(히 10:14)고 증거함으로써 예수 그리스도께서 피흘려 죽으시고 장사되셨다가 셋째 날에 살아나신 것을 전심으로 믿은(행 8:37) 사람이 혼의 구원을 받아(벧전 1:9) 한 성령으로 마시게 됨으로써 영이 부활한(고전 12:13) 사람은 이미 거룩해졌을 뿐만 아니라 한 번의 속죄제로 영원히 온전케 되었다고 분명하게 증거한 것입니다.

        그런데 본문에서 사도 바울은 믿음으로 혼이 구원받아 성령으로 영이 거듭난 성도들에게 하나님께서 부르셔서 구원하신 뜻에 대하여 히브리서와 다른 증거를 하고 있습니다: “하나님의 뜻은 이것이니, 곧 너희의 거룩함이니라…..하나님께서 우리를 부르신 것은 부정함에 이르게 하려 하려는 것이 아니라 거룩함에 이르게 하려 하심이라.”(살전 4:3,7)고 예수 그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 한 번 속죄제를 영원히 드리심으로 우리가 거록하게 되었고 뿐만 아니라 우리를 영원히 온전케 하셨는데, 본문에서는 우리를 거룩함에 이르게 하는 것이 하나님의 뜻이라고 성도들에게 증거하고 있는 것입니다.

      그가 거룩함에 이르라고 권면하는 것은 영과 혼의 문제가 아니라 구원받은 하나님의 자녀들의 몸이 거룩함에 이르게 하는 것이 하나님의 뜻인 것을 알 수 있습니다. 이 사실을 분명히 하기 위하여 “너희는 음행을 삼가고 너희 각자가 거룩함과 존귀함으로 어떻게 자기 자신의 그릇을 소유하는가를 알며 하나님을 모르는 이방인들과 같이 색욕에 빠지지 말고 어떤 문제에 있어서도 정도를 지나쳐 자기 형제를 속이지 말라. 이는 우리가 미리 경고하였고 증거한 바와 같이 주께서는 이러한 사람들에 대하여 벌을 주시는 분이시기 때문이라.”(살전 4:3-6)고 증거함으로써 구원받은 그리스도인들이 이제부터는 몸까지도 거룩하게 되어야 함에 대하여 증거한 것입니다.

        하나님께서 우리의 혼을 구원하셨고 영이 성령으로 거듭나게 하셔서 이미 우리를 거룩하게 하셨지만 우리의 몸은 우리들 자신 각자가 거룩함에 이르러야 한다는 말씀인 것입니다. 다시 말해서 이제부터는 우리의 몸이 더 이상 우리 것이 아니고 하나님께서 자신의 피로 값을 치르시고 사셨기 때문입니다. 사도 바울은 이에 대해 “음행을 피하라 사람이 범하는 죄마다 몸 밖에 있지만 음행하는 자는 자기 몸에 죄를 짓는 것이니라. 또한 너희 몸은 너희가 하나님으로부터 받은 바 너희 안에 계신 성령의 전인 것을 알지 못하느냐? 너희는 너희 자신의 것이 아니니라. 너희는 값을 치르고 산 것이니 그러므로 하나님의 것인 너희 몸과 너희 영으로 하나님께 영광을 돌리라.”(고전 6:18-20)고 고린도교회 성도들에게 증거했습니다.

뿐만 아니라 “만일 누구든지 하나님의 성전을 더럽히면 하나님께서도 그 사람을 멸하시리라. 이는 하나님의 성전은 거룩하며 너희는 그 성전이기 때문이라.”(고전 3:17)고 경고의 메세지를 준 것입니다.

        예수 그리스도께서는 십자가에서 처형되시기 위해 체포되시기 직전에 마지막 기도를 하실 때 제자들을 위하여 기도하셨습니다: “아버지의 진리로 그들을 거룩하게 하여 주옵소서. 아버지의 말씀은 진리니이다.”(요 17:17) 사도 바울은 하나님의 교회에 속한 지체들의 삶이 거룩하게 되는 것에 대하여 “이는 그가 교회를 말씀에 의한 물로 씻어 거룩하게 하시고 깨끗게 하사 자기 앞에 영광스러운 교회로 나타내서 점이나 주름진 것이나 또는 그러한 것들이 없이 거룩하고 흠없게 하려 하심이니라.”(엡 5:26,27)고 증거한 것입니다.

       예수 그리스도를 믿어 구원받은 우리들은 더 이상 율법이 우리를 죽일 수 없습니다. 사도 바울은 이 사실에 대하여 “우리를 거스르고 우리를 대적한 손으로 쓴 법령은 지워버리고 또 그것을 그의 십자가에 못박아 없애셨으며 정사와 권세를 벗겨 내어 그것들을 공개적으로 나타내시고 십자가로 그들을 이기셨느니라.”(골 2:14,15) 이전에 우리가 이방인으로 있을 때에는 율법의 죄들로 인해 율법의 능력으로 죽을 수밖에 없었으며 죽은 후에는 혼이 영원토록 지옥에 갈 수밖에 없었지만 이제 우리는 담대하게 외칠 수 있습니다: “오 사망아, 너의 쏘는 것이 어디 있느냐? 오 음부야, 너의 승리가 어디 있느냐? 사망이 쏘는 것은 죄요 죄의 능력은 율법이라. 그러나 우리 주 예수 그리스도를 통하여 우리에게 승리를 주시는 하나님께 감사하노니“(고전 15:55-57) 그러므로 이제 우리는 우리가 받은 영원한 구원에 대하여 의심하거나 흔들리지 말며 더욱 우리에게 값없아 주신 구원에 대해 견고한 믿음을 가지고 항상 주의 일을 넘치게 해야 하는 것입니다(고전 15:58). 주님의 일만이 세상과 함께 사라져버리지 않고 영원토록 남아 있을 것이기 때문입니다(요일 2:17). 주님의 일을 할 때 비로소 우리는 우리 몸을 의의 병기로 드리게 되는 것입니다.

        사도 바울은 로마에 있는 성도들에게 “이와 같이 너희도 너희 자신을 정녕 죄에게는 죽은 자요, 예수 그리스도 우리 주로 말미암아 하나님께는 산 자로 여기라. 그러므로 너희는 죄가 너희 죽을 몸 안에서 군림하지 못하게 하여 몸의 정욕 가운데서 죄에게 순종하지 말고 또 너희 지체를 불의의 병기로 죄에게 내어주지 말고 다만 너희 자신을 죽은 자들로부터 살아난 자들처럼 하나님께 드리며 너희 지체를 의의 병기로 하나님께 드리라.”(롬 6:13)고 증거함으로써 이제는 몸이 거룩함에 이르라고 권면했습니다. 또한진정한 예배가 무엇인지에 대해 “그러므로 형제들아, 내가 하나님의 모든 자비하심으로 너희에게 권고하노니, 너희 몸을 하나님께서 기뻐하시는 거룩한 산 제물로 드리라. 이것이 너희가 드릴 합당한 예배니라.”(롬 12:1)고 분명하게 증거했습니다. 다시 말해서 합당한 예배는 에배당 안에서 드리는 종교행위를 초월한 삶 속에서 몸이 거룩함에 이르는 것이라고 강조한 것입니다.

      사도 바울은 하나님의 뜻에 대하여 목회자 디모데에게 다시 한 번 증거했습니다: “하나님께서는 모든 사람이 구원을 받고 진리의 지식에 이르기를 원하시느니라.”(딤전 2:4) 즉, 구원받은 모든 사람은 진리를 깨달아야 한다는 것입니다. 주님께서 유대인들에게 “성경을 상고하라. 이는 너희가 성경에서 영생이 있다고 생각함이니, 그 성경은 나에 관하여 증거하고 있음이라.”(요 5:39) 다시 말해서 하나님의 말씀들이 들어있는 성경은 주 예수 그리스도에 대한 말씀인 것입니다. 진리의 지식은 주님을 아는 지식이며 어떤 철학이나 신학적 지식도 아닌 것입니다. 교리적인 말씀 안에도 주님에 관한 지식이 들어있으며 책망의 말씀이나 바로잡는 말씀이나 의로 훈육하는 말씀들(딤후 3:16) 모두가 주님의 마음을 아는 지식인 것입니다. 주님께서는 유대인들에게 “나는 마음이 온유하고 겸손하니, 내 멍에를 메고 나에게서 배우라. 그리하면 너희가 너희 혼에 쉼을 얻으리라.”(마 11:29)고 말씀하셨습니다.

         그렇습니다. 우리가 성경 말씀들을 통하여 진리의 지식을 알면 알수록 온유하고 겸손하게 되는 것입니다. 진리의 지식은 온유하시고 겸손하신 분에 대한 지식이기에 그 진리의 지식으로 다른 사람을 판단하지 말고 자신을 판단하라고 주신 것입니다. 주님에 대해 알면 알수록 우리는 우리의 죄들을 보게 되며 회개하게 되어 말씀 안에 있는 물로 씻게 되는 것입니다. 그러므로 우리가 진리의 지식을 알면 알수록 더욱 더 겸손하게 되어 생각의 겸손함으로 남들을 자신들보다 종중하게 되는 것입니다(빌 2:3). 진리의 지식을 자랑하며 다른 형제들을 판단하고 공박하는 사람은 진정한 진리의 지식 안에 있는 주님의 성품을 알지 못한 사람인 것입니다. 또한 참된 진리의 지식을 얻어 총명하게 된 사람에 대하여 솔로몬 왕은 “총명한 사람은 지식을 감추어 두나, 어리석은 자의 마음은 어리석음을 선포하느니라.”(잠 12:23)라고 증거했습니다.

     사도 바울은 로마에 있는 성도들을 향하여 “남의 종을 판단하는 너는 누구냐? 그가 서거나 넘어지는 것이 자기 주인에게 있느니라. 실로 그가 서게 되리라. 이는 하나님께서 그를 서게 하실 수 있기 때문이라….. 그런데 너는 어찌하여 네 형제를 판단하느냐? 어찌하여 네 형제를 업신여기느냐? 우리가 모두 그리스도의 심판석 앞에 서리라.”(롬 14:4, 10)고 증거했습니다.

그렇습니다. 우리는 각자가 반드시 그리스도의 심판석 앞에 나아가서 선이든 악이든지 각자 자기가 몸으로 행한 것에 따라, 자기 몸으로 행한 것들을 받게 될 것입니다(고후 5:10). 사도 요한에게 나타셨던 주님께서도 “보라, 내가 속히 노리니 내가 줄 상이 내게 있어 각 사람에게 그의 행위에 따라 주리라.”(계 22:12) 말씀하셨습니다. 하나님께서 우리 모두를 온전히 거룩하게 하시고 우리의 온 영과 혼과 몸이 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 오실 때까지 책망할 것이 없게 보존되기를 기도합니다(살전 5:23). 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 15:1-5

Main scripture: 1Thessalonians 4:1-7

Subject: The will of God for his children

       Since the first man that was made in the image of God lost the holiness of God because of sin, God has been working to restore the holiness of God unto men. For this purpose, God chose the children of Abraham as his own people, and gave them the law to reveal his holiness.

       Whenever they sinned against the law of God, God made them bring their animals to sacrifice them to redeem their sins to reveal God with no sin at all. Even though they could been forgiven their sins through their sacrificing offerings, their sins engraved in their heart couldn’t be taken away (Heb. 10:10). The blood of animal could only cover their sins temporarily. God allowed them that had died in Abraham under the law to wait for their Messiah in the bosom of Abraham underneath the earth.

Jesus testified of a rich man and Lazarus, a bagger; the soul of the rich man went down to the hell, and the soul of Lazarus unto the bosom of Abraham facing the hell.

        In the main passage, Apostle Paul writing a letter testified of the will of God that gave the salvation of soul for them unto the sanctification. But, when he wrote unto the Hebrews, he said, “By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”(Heb. 10:10) And he continued to say, “For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”(Heb. 10:14)

In other word, whosoever they that believe in all the heart (Acts 8:37) the death of Christ shedding the blood, and his burial and resurrection from the dead save his soul(1Pet. 1:9), and his soul be regenerated through drinking one Spirit(1Cor. 12:13) is already sanctified, and perfected forever through one time offering of redemption.

       Then, in the main passage, Apostle Paul testified differently from the book of Hebrews of the will of God for giving salvation saying,

“For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:…. For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.”(1Thes. 4:3,7)

In the book of Hebrews, he testified, we are already sanctified through the eternal offering of sacrifice just one time, and also made us perfect; but now in the main passage, God is asking us unto holiness.

        This is not matter of our soul and spirit, but matter of our body. Apostle Paul testified of this very clearly that our body also should be unto holiness:” ye should abstain from fornication:

That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God: That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.”(1Thes. 4:3-6)

        Even though God made perfect our soul saved as well as our spirit born again of the Spirit of God, our body should be unto holiness for ourselves. In other word, our body is not for our own, for God purchased us paying the price with his blood. Of this, Apostle Paul testified saying,

“Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”(1Cor. 6:18-20)

He also gave a message of warning of our body saying, “If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.”(1Cor. 3:17)

        Jesus prayed for his disciples just before he was arrested to be crucified: “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”(John 17:17) Apostle Paul also prayed for the members of the church of God for holiness of life saying, “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”(Eph. 5:26,27)

       We are no more condemned by the law unto death, for we have already believed in Jesus Christ. Apostle Paul testified of this very clearly saying, “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”(Col. 2:14,15)

When we were in the midst of the Gentiles, we were destined unto death through the power of the law, and even unto the hell. But now we can shout boldly saying, “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”(1Cor. 15:55-57)

Therefore we are not to doubt of our salvation, but unmovable, and we should be always abounding in the work of the Lord (1Cor. 15:58). Only the work of the Lord endures forever not passing with the world (1John 2:17). To work for the Lord is finally to present our body as the instrument of righteousness.

        Apostle Paul encouraged the saint in Rome saying, “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.”(Rom. 6:11-13) He also testified of the true worship service clearly saying, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”(Rom. 12;1)

In other word, the true worship service is beyond the ritual activity in the building of church, but living in holiness daily basis.

        Apostle Paul testified again unto Timothy, a pastor of the will of God saying, “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”(1Tim. 2:4) Whosoever is saved has to understand the words of the truth. Jesus also spoke unto the Jew saying,

“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”(John 5:39)

In other word, all the words of God in the scriptures are of Jesus Christ. Therefore, the knowledge of the truth is the knowledge of Jesus Christ, not any other knowledge of philosophy or theology either. There are abundant knowledge of Jesus Christ in the word of doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness (2Tim. 3:16); all these knowledge is to know the heart of Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus spoke unto the Jews again saying,

“Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”(Matt. 11:29)

        Yeah! More we know the knowledge of the truth, more we are to be meek and humble. Since the knowledge of the truth is of the one that is meek and lowly, the knowledge of the truth is given unto us to judge ourselves not others. More we know the Lord Jesus, more iniquities we find out and repent, and be cleansed by the water in the words of God. Therefore, more we have the knowledge of the truth, more we are to be lowly, and we are to be in lowliness to esteem others better than ourselves (Phil. 2:3). They that are boast of themselves with the knowledge of the truth judging other Christians are not understand the character of the Lord. King Solomon testified of a prudent man saying, “A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.”(Prov. 12:23)

       Apostle Paul spoke unto the saints in Rome saying, “Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand…. But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.”(Rom. 14:4,10) Yeah! We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad (2Cor. 5:10) The Lord Jesus appeared unto Apostle John, and said unto him, “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”(Rev. 22:12)

I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen! Hallelujah!
