금주의 묵상: 시편 139:1-24

본문: 잠언 1:1-9

제목: 우리는 하나님을 두려워하는 삶을 살고 있는가?

         자신의 아버지 다윗왕으로부터 양육받은 솔로몬 왕은 하나님께 기도하여 지혜를 받아 잠언의 말씀을 기록했습니다. 그가 왕이 된 후에 기브온에서 하나님께 일천 번제를 드렸을 때 주께서 밤에 꿈으로 그에게 나타나셔서 “내가 네게 줄 것을 구하라“(왕상 3:5)고 말씀하셨을 때, 그는 주 하나님께 이렇게 간구했습니다:

“내 아버지 다윗이 주 앞에서 진리와 의 가운데 행하고 주와 더불어 마음의 정직함으로 행할 때 주께서 주의 종 내 아버지 다윗에게 큰 자비를 베푸셨으며, 또 주께서 그를 위하여 이같이 큰 인자하심을 간직하시어 그에게 한 아들을 주사 그의 보좌에 앉게 하신 것이 오늘과 같나이다. 오, 주 하나님이여, 이제 주께서는 주의 종을 내 아버지 다윗을 대신하여 왕으로 삼으셨나이다. 나는 어린 아이에 불과하오니 어떻게 나가고 들어와야 할지 알지 못하나이다. 주의 종은 주께서 택하신 주의 백성 가운데 있사오니 그들은 큰 백성이라, 그 수가 많아서 셀 수도 없고 헤아려 볼 수도 없나이다. 그러므로 주의 종에게 주의 백성을 재판할 수 있는 명철한 마음을 주시어, 나로 선과 악을 분별하게 하소서. 누가 이 큰 주의 백성을 재판할 수 있겠나이까?”(왕상 3:6-9)

         하나님께서는 솔로몬이 구한 그 말을 기쁘게 여기셔서 그에게 응답하셨습니다:

“네가 이것을 구하고 자신을 위하여 장수도 구하지 아니하였으며, 자신을 위하여 재물도 구하지 아니하고, 네 원수의 생명도 구하지 아니하고, 오히려 자신을 위하여 재판을 분별할 수 있는 명철을 구하였으니, 보라, 내가 네 말대로 하였으며, 보라, 내가 너에게 현명하고 명철한 마음을 주었으니, 네 이전에도 너와 같은 자가 없었으며, 네 이후에도 너와 같은 자가 일어나지 아니하리라. 내가 또한 네가 구하지 아니한 재물과 명예를 네게 주었으니, 네 평생에 왕들 중에 너와 같은 자가 없으리라.”(왕상 3:11-13)

             하나님의 지혜를 받은 솔로몬 왕은 그가 기록한 잠언에 대하여, 지혜와 훈계를 알게 하며, 명철의 말씀을 깨닫게 하고, 지혜와 정의와 공의와 공평의 훈계를 받게 하며, 우매한 자에게 슬기를, 청년에게는 지식과 분별력을 주는 것이며 현명한 사람은 듣고 학식을 늘릴 것이요, 명철한 사람은 현명한 조언들을 얻을 것이라고 증거했습니다. 뿐만 아니라, 그의 잠언과 해석을 깨닫고, 현명한 자들의 말들과 그들의 난해한 말들을 깨닫게 하려는 것이라고 말했습니다(잠 1:1-6).

           또한 그는 주를 두려워하는 것이 지식의 시작이거늘, 어리석은 자들은 지혜와 훈계를 멸시한다고 증거했습니다(잠 1:7). 뿐만 아니라, 그는 주를 두려워하는 것은 악을 미워하는 것이며(잠 8:13), 주를 두려워하는 것이 지혜의 시작이요, 거룩한 이에 대한 지식은 명철이라고 증거했습니다(잠 9:10).

         그렇습니다! 하나님을 두려워하지 않는 사람은 거룩하신 하나님에 대하여 무지하기 때문인 것입니다. 그런 사람들은 하나님을 자신보다 더 못한 존재로 여기기 때문입니다. 선지자 호세아는 이스라엘 백성들이 하나님께 대한 지식이 없이 자신들의 고집으로 행할 때에 하나님의 심판의 메시지를 전했습니다:”내 백성이 지식의 부족으로 멸망하는도다. 네가 지식을 거부하였으므로 나도 또한 너를 거부하리니, 네가 나에게 제사장이 되지 못하리라. 네가 네 하나님의 율법을 잊었으니 나도 또한 네 자녀를 잊어버리리라. 그들은 번성할수록 나를 거역하여 범죄하였으니 내가 그들의 영광을 수치로 바꾸리라. 그들이 내 백성의 죄를 먹고 그들의 마음을 그들의 죄악에 두는도다. 끝에는 백성같이, 제사장같이 되리니, 내가 그들의 행위로 그들을 벌하고 그들의 행실에 대해 그들에게 보상하리라.”(호 4:6-9)

             아담이 범죄하여 에덴으로부터 쫓겨난 후 천 년이 지났을 때 하나님을 알지 못하는 사람들의 사악함이 세상에 창대해 짐과 그 마음의 생각의 모든 상상이 계속해서 악할 뿐임을 보시고 주께서 땅 위에 사람을 지으셨음을 후회하심으로 그 일이 그의 마음을 비통케 하였습니다. 이로 인하여 자신이 창조한 사람을 홍수로 지면에서 멸망시켰던 것입니다. 그 당시 수많은 사람들 가운데 오직 노아만이 주의 눈에서 은혜를 찾았으니 하나님의 마음이 얼마나 비통하셨는지 알 수 있는 것입니다(창 6:5-8).

               하나님께서 가지신 세 가지 속성, 즉 전능하심(Omnipotent)과 전지하심(Omniscient)과 전재하심(Omnipresent)을 깨닫지 못하면 노아 때에 살았던 사람들처럼 마음의 생각들의 상상이 악하게 되는 것입니다. 하나님으로부터 지혜를 받은 다윗 왕은 아들 솔로몬에게 말했습니다: “너, 내 아들 솔로몬아, 너는 네 아버지의 하나님을 알라. 그리고 온전한 마음과 기쁜 뜻으로 그분을 섬기라. 주께서는 모든 마음을 살피시고 생각의 모든 상상을 아시나니, 만일 네가 그분을 버리면 그가 너를 영원히 버리시리라.”(대상 28:9)

             다윗 왕은 전능하시고 전지하시고 전재하신 주 하나님에 대하여 깨닫고 그의 시편에서 아주 자세하게 증거했습니다:

“오 주여, 주께서는 나를 살펴보셨으며 또 나를 아셨나이다. 주께서는 나의 앉고 서는 것을 아시며 나의 생각을 멀리서도 이해하시나이다. 주께서는 나의 길과 나의 눕는 것을 샅샅이 아시며 나의 모든 길들을 익히 아시나이다. 보소서, 오 주여, 주께서 모두 아시나니 알지 못하시는 내 입의 말은 한마디도 없나이다. 주께서는 나를 앞뒤에서 감싸셨고 내게 안수하셨나이다. 그와 같은 지식이 내게 너무 경이롭고 높아서 내가 이를 수 없나이다. 내가 주의 영으로부터 벗어나 어디로 가며 주의 면전에서 벗어나 어디로 피하리이까? 내가 하늘로 올라갈지라도 주께서는 거기 계시며 내가 지옥에 잠자리를 마련한다 하여도, 보소서, 주께서는 거기 계시나이다.”(시 139;1-8)

           그렇습니다! 노아 시대에 살았던 무수한 사람들 한 사람 한 사람의 마음을 살피시고 계시던 하나님께서는 지금도 여전히 지구촌에 살고 있는 70억이나 되는 모든 사람들의 마음의 모든 생각들과 상상들을 자세하게 알고 계시는 것입니다. 하나님께로부터 지혜와 명철을 받지 못한 사람은 이런 하나님을 알지도 못하고 믿지도 못하며 자신만을 믿으며 살 수밖에 없는 것입니다. 주 예수 그리스도께서 자신이 인자의 모습으로 이 세상에 심판하시러 오실 때에 대하여 말씀하셨습니다:

“그러나 노아의 날들과 같이 인자의 오는 것도 그러하리라. 홍수 전의 날들에 그들이 먹고 마시며, 장가가고 시집가고 하기를 , 노아가 방주로 들어가던 날까지 하다가 홍수가 나서 그들을 모두 쓸어 버릴 때까지 그들이 알지 못하였던 것같이, 인자의 오는 것도 그러하리라.”(마 24:37-39)

               선지자 이사야는 하나님의 영에 대하여 증거할 때에, “이새의 줄기에서 한 싹이 나며 그의 뿌리들에서 한 가지가 자랄 것이라. 주의 영이 그의 위에 머물리니 지혜와 명철의 영이요, 계획과 능력의 영이며, 지식과 주를 두려워하는 영이라.”(사 11:1,2)고 증거했습니다. 이는 앞으로 다윗의 자손으로 나타나실 주 예수 그리스도 안에 있게 될 성령에 대하여 증거한 것입니다. 어느누구도 주 예수 그리스도를 믿어 영접함으로써 성령을 받아 영이 거듭나기 전에는 지혜도 명철도 계획도 능력도 하나님을 이는 지식도 알 수 없으며 하나님을 아는 지식이 없음으로 인해 하나님을 두려워하지 않고 악함 가운데 살 수밖에 없음에 대해 증거한 것입니다.

               그러므로, 율법 시대에는 어느누구도하나님을 아는 지식을 가지고 하나님을 두려워할 수 없으며 어떤 선도 행할 수 없으며, 다만 짐승의 피로 육체만을 정결케 할 수밖에 없었던 것입니다. 하나님께서는 선지자 예레미야를 통하여 말씀하셨습니다:

“에디오피아인이 그 피부를 바꿀 수 있으며 표범이 그의 점들을 바꿀 수 았겠느냐? 그렇다면 악을 행하는 데 익숙한 너희도 선을 행할 수 있으리라….마음은 만물보다 거짓되고 심히 악하니 누가 그것을 알 수 있으리요? 나 주는 마음을 살피고 나는 속을 시험하며 각 사람의 행위와 행실의 결과대로 각 사람에게 주노라(렘 13:23;17:9,10).

                   히브리서 기자는 율법 아래 있었던 히브리인들을 향하여 주 예수 그리스도의 은혜의 복음을 전할 때에 그리스도의 피의 영원한 능력과 한량 없는 은혜에 대하여 증거했습니다:

“그러나 그리스도께서는 다가올 선한 것들과 대 제사장으로 오셔서, 손으로 짓지 아니한, 곧 이러한 건물이 아닌 더 크고 온전한 성막을 통하여 염소와 송아지의 피로 아니하고 오직 자신의 피로 한 번 성소에 들어가셔서 우리를 위하여 영원한 구속을 이루셨느니라. 황소와 염소의 피와 암송아지의 재도 불결한 자들에게 뿌려 그 육체를 정결케 함으로써 거룩하게 한다면, 하물며 영원하신 성령을 통하여 흠 없는 자신을 하나님께 드린 그리스도의 피가 어찌 죽은 행실에서 너희 양심을 정결케 하여 살아 계신 하나님을 섬기게 하지 못하겠느냐?…그 뜻에 따라 모든 사람을 위하여 한 번 예수 그리스도의 몸을 드리심으로 우리가 거룩하게 된 것이라. 제사장 마다 매일 서서 섬기며, 똑같은 제사를 자주 드리지만 이것으로써는 결코 죄들을 제거할 수 없으나 이분은 한 번의 속죄제를 영원히 드린 후 하나님의 오른편에 앉으셔서 그후로는 그의 원수들을 자기 발판으로 삼으실 때까지 기다리시느니라. 이는 그가 한 번의 제사로써 거룩하게 된 자를 영원히 온전케 하셨기 때문이라.”(히 9:11-14; 10:10-14)

               모든 사람이 죄를 지었으므로 하나님의 영광에 이를 수 없으므로(롬 3:23) 사람의 양심 속에 있는 모든 죄악들이 제거되기 전에는 하나님의 성령이 임할 수 없는 것입니다. 침례인 요한이 증거한 것처럼 세상 죄를 제거하는 하나님의 어린양이신 예수 그리스도(요 1:29)를 믿음으로 그리스도의 피를 통하여 모든 죄들이 제거되어 혼이 구원받아야 성령께서 들어오셔서 비로소 지혜와 명철을 받게 되는 것입니다. 이때에 하나님에 대한 지식을 깨닫게 되어 하나님을 두려워하는 거룩한 삶을 살게 되는 것입니다.

             그러므로 하나님에 대하여 앎므로써 그분을 두려워하는 삶을 살기 위해서는 하나님의 말씀을 읽고 듣고 묵상하는 길밖에는 어떤 다른 방법이 없는 것입니다. 성경을 공부하는 목적은 하나님 아버지를 알기 위해서이며 어떤 지식을 머리 속에 쌓기 위한 것이 아닌 것입니다. 그러므로 성령으로 다시 태어난 사람은 거룩하신 진리의 말씀 안에서 행함으로써 온 영과 혼과 몸이 거룩하게 되어야 하는 것입니다. 구원을 받아 하나님의 자녀가 되었을지라도 이 땅에서 행한 모든 말이나 행동에 대하여 그리스도의 심판석에서 계산하는 날이 오기 때문입니다. 사도 바울은 이에 대하여 증거했습니다:

“우리가 자신에 차 있으니 정녕 몸에서 떠나 주와 함께 있는 것을 오히려 더 원하노라. 이 때문에 우리가 애쓰는 것은 거하든지 떠나 있든지 그분을 기쁘시게 해 드리기를 바라는 것이라. 이는 우리 모두가 반드시 그리스도의 심판석 앞에 나아가서 선이든지 악이든지 각자 자기가 행한 것들을 받을 것이기 때문이라.”(고후 5:8-10)

Meditation of the week: Psalms 139:1-24

Main scripture: proverbs 1:1-9

Subject: Are we fearing God?

             King Solomon, son of King David wrote the book of Proverbs through the wisdom that he received from the LORD God. After he became the king of Israel, he offered thousand burnt offerings upon the alter in Gibeon. Then the LORD God appeared to him in a dream, and said unto him, “Ask what I shall give thee.”; he asked the LORD God saying:

“ Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.

And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.

Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?”(1King 3:6-9)

           The LORD God was pleased upon hearing from Solomon, and answered him saying,

“And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;

Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.”(1King 3:11-13)

               The man of wisdom of God testified of the wisdom that he received, to receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; to give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and direction. He continued to say, a wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels; to understand a proverb, and interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.(Prov. 1:1-6)

               He also testified of a very important thing saying, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”(Prov. 1:7).

He also said, “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil….The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; and the knowledge of the holy in understanding.”(prov. 8:13;9:10)

                 Yeah! They that not fear the LORD are ignorant of the Holy God. They think of God even as inferior to them. Prophet Hosea preached the message of judgment unto the people of Israel against their willful ignorance:

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.

They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.

And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.”(Hosea 4:6-9)

                 When thousand years were passed by, since Adam was cast out of the Garden of Eden, God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And God destroyed man whom he had created from the face of the earth with the flood of waters. At that time, only one man, Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. We can imagine how much God grieved because of this (Gen. 6:5-8).

                  If man doesn’t understand the three kinds of character such as Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent, his imagination of the thoughts in the heart is to be evil as them at the time of Noah. King David, man of wisdom of God spoke unto Solomon, his son:

“And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.”(1Chron. 28:9)

                 King David understood God of Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent, and he testified of them in his Psalms:

“O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.

Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.

Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.”(Ps. 139:1-8)

               Yeah! The LORD God was searching the heart of every man in the days of Noah; and even now he is searching the imagination of the thought in the heart of every man of seven Billion. But they that not received wisdom and understanding from are not able to know God nor believe in him, but only believe in themselves. The Lord Jesus Christ mentioned about his second coming as the Son of man:

“ But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,

And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”(Matt. 24:37-39)

               Prophet Isaiah testified of the Spirit of God:

“And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;”(Isa. 11:1,2)

he testified of the Holy Ghost to be within the Lord Jesus Christ appearing as the son of David in the future. Unless man believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and receive the Holy Ghost to be born again, man cannot have wisdom and understanding and might and knowledge of God, and shall be ended up living wickedness without the fear of God.

              Therefore, in the time of the law, no one can have the knowledge of God to fear him, nor can do good; they only could sanctify their flesh with the blood of animals. The LORD God spoke through prophet Jeremiah of this:

“Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil…. The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.”(Jer. 13:23; 17:9,10)

                 The writer of the book of Hebrews preached toward the Hebrews of the gospel of grace of the Lord Jesus Christ; he testified of the eternal power of the blood of Christ as well as unlimited grace:

But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having

obtained eternal redemption for us.

For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:

How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?….. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:

But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”(Heb. 9:11-14; 10:10-14)

                    All men sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23); the Holy Ghost cannot come in the heart of man, unless all sins in the conscience of man are taken away. As John the Baptist testified of Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world, only through believing in the blood of Jesus Christ, all sins shall be taken away so that man could be saved of the soul to receive wisdom and understanding through the Holy Ghost. It is the only way to live in holiness fearing God.

              Therefore, to have the life of fearing God through the knowledge of God, there is no other way but to read the scriptures, and to hear them, and to meditate. The purpose of Bible study is to know the Father God, not to pile up the knowledge itself in the head. Therefore, whosoever is born again of the Spirit has to walk in the truth to sanctify all spirit and soul and body. This is because even the children of God have to stand before the judgment seat of Christ to be judged all their words and works done in the earth. Apostle Paul testified of this:

“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”(2Cor. 5:8-10)

 Amen! Hallelujah!
