금주의 묵상: 시편 24:1-10

본문: 빌립보서 3:20-21

제목: 하늘 나라의 시민으로서 우리는 그리스도에 대하여 얼마나 알고 있는가?

               한 나라에 속한 시민은 그 나라에 대하여 잘 알아야만 살아가는데 도움이 되는 것입니다. 그 나라의 법을 모르게 되면 여러가지 어려움들을 당하게 되는 것입니다. 그 나라의 법들은 시민들이 지켜야 할 법이며 지키는 사람들만이 법의 보호를 받게 되는 것입니다. 미국에 살고 있는 한인들이 미국에 대하여 잘 알지 못하여 법을 위반하게 되어 고통을 받는 것을 많이 보게 됩니다.

               사도 바울은 성령 안에서 성령으로 거듭나서 하나님의 나라에의 시민이 된 것에 대하여 에베소 교회 성도들에게 증거했습니다:

“죄들 가운데서 죽었던 우리를 그리스도와 함께 살리셨으니 (너희가 은혜로 구원을 받은 것이라.) 또 함께 일으키사 그리스도 예수 안에서 천상(heavenly places)에 함께 앉히셨으니 이는 그리스도 예수를 통하여 하나님께서 우리를 그의 인자하심 가운데 그의 은혜의 지극히 풍성함을 오는 시대들에 보여주시려 함이니라.”(엡 1:5-7)

               그러므로 거듭난 하나님의 자녀들은 비록 몸은 이 세상에 살면서 세상 법들을 지켜야 하지만 동시에 영적으로는 하나님의 말씀의 법을 지키는 삶을 살아야만 영육 간에 평안한 삶을 살 수 있는 것입니다. 사도 베드로는 하늘나라의 시민권을 가진 성도들을 향하여 권면했습니다:

“너희가 전에는 백성이 아니었으나 이제는 하나님의 백성이며, 전에는 자비를 받지 못했으니 이제는 자비를 받았느니니라. 사랑하는 자들아, 타국인 같고 순례자 같은 너희에게 권고하노니 혼을 거슬러 싸우는 육신의 정욕들을 멀리하라. 이는 너희가 이방인들 가운데 행실을 바르게 하여 그들이 너희에게 악을 행하던 자라고 말하다가도 너희의 선한 일들을 보고 감찰하시는 그 날에 그들로 하나님께 영광을 돌리게 하려 함이라. 주를 위하여 인간의 모든 법령에 복종하되, 권세 있는 왕에게나 혹은 악을 행하는 자들을 벌하고, 선한 일을 행하는 자들을 칭찬하라고 그가 보낸 관리들에게 하라.”(벧전 2:10-14)

                   그러나 우리가 살고 있는 세상에 대한 지식은 조만간 주님께서 오셔서 모든 나라들을 심판하시게 될 때에 모두가 무용지물이 되지만 영원하신 주시며 욍이신 그리스도 예수께서 세우시는 하나님의 왕국은 영원하기 때문에 그 왕국에 대한 지식은 영원한 것이므로 세상의 어떤 지식보다도 더욱 고상한 것입니다. 주님을 만나 하나님의 나라에 들어간 사도 바울은 자신의 삶의 목표가 어떻게 변화되었는지에 대하여 증거했습니다:

“그러나 나에게 유익하던 것은 무엇이나 그리스도를 위하여 다 손실로 여겼느니라. 실로 모든 것을 손실로 여김은 그리스도 예수 나의 주를 아는 지식이 가장 고상하기(excellence) 때문이며 내가 그를 위하여 모든 것을 잃어버리고 그것들을 오히려 배설물로 여김은 그리스도를 얻기 위함이요 또 그 안에서 발견되고자 함이니 나의 의는 율법에서 나온 것이 아니요, 그리스도를 믿음으로 말미암아 나온 것이니 곧 믿음에 의해서 하나님께로부터 나온 의라.”(빌 3:7-9)

                 그렇습니다! 우리 자신에게 유익한 삶을 살게 되면 반대로 그리스도께는 손실이 되는 것입니다. 우리의 시간이나 물질이나 몸을 자신을 위하여 쓰면 쓸수록 그만큼 그리스도를 위하여서는 손실이 되는 것입니다. 예수님보다 육 개월 먼저 태어나서 예수가 그리스도이시며 세상 죄를 제거하는 하나님의 어란 양이심을 증거하는 일을 마치고 세상을 떠난 침례인 요한은 “그분(예수님)은 융성해야만 하나, 나는 쇠잔해야만 하리라.”(요 3:30)고 고백했습니다. 그의 제자들이 모두 예수께로 가는 것을 보면서 그가 한 말인 것입니다.

                   어차피 온 우주 만물들은 그분의 것입니다. “만물이 그에 의하여 지은 바 되었으며, 이미 지음받은 것 가운데 그가 없이 지어진 것은 아무 것도 없더라”(요 1:3)고 사도 요한이 증거했습니다. 사도 바울 역시 이에 대하여 골로새에 있는 성도들에게 증거했습니다:

“그는 보이지 않는 하나님의 형상이시며 모든 피조물의 첫태생이시니 이는 만물이 그에 의하여 창조되되 하늘에 있는 것들과 땅에 있는 것들과 보이는 것들과 보좌들이나 주권들이나 정사들이나 권세들이나 만물이 그에 의하여 또 그를 위하여 창조되었기 때문이라. 그는 만물 이전에 계시고 만물은 그로 말미암아 존속하느니라. 그는 몸인 교회의 머리시라. 그는 시작이시며 죽은 자들로부터 첫 번째로 나셨으니 이는 그가 만물 안에서 으뜸이 되려 허심이라. 이는 모든 충만함이 그의 안에 거하는 것이 아버지를 기쁘게 하였음이라.”(골 1:15-19)

                   뿐만 아니라, 그는 로마에 있는 성도들에게도 같은 증거를 했습니다:

“오 깊도다, 하나님의 지혜와 지식의 부요함이여! 그분의 심판을 어찌 헤아리며 그분의 지나간 길을 어찌 찾아내리요? 누가 주의 생각을 알았느냐? 누가 그분의 의논자가 되었느냐? 누가 먼저 그분께 드려서 되돌려 받겠느냐? 이는 만물이 그분께로부터 나와 그분을 통하여 그분께로 돌아감이라. 영광이 그분께 영원히 있으리로다. 아멘.”(롬 11:33-36)

                 그러므로 우리는 주님께서 다시 오시기 전, 또는 우리가 세상을 떠나기 전에 우리의 시간과 물질과 몸을 주님께 먼저 드려서 그리스도의 심판석에서 되돌려 받는 믿음의 소유자들이 되어야 하는 것입니다. 주님께서 초림하셔서 십자가에 죽으시기 전에 이 믿음이 있었던 사람과 없었던 사람의 예를 들 수 있습니다. 첫째는 자신이 가지고 있던 전 재산인 옥합을 깨드려 향유를 주님께 부어 주님의 장사를 예비한 여인(마 26:7, 막 14:3,눅 7:37)과 전 재산을 가난한 자들에게 주고 주님을 따르라는 말씀에 근심하면서 떠나간 한 부자 청년(마 19:16-22)의 예인 것입니다.

                   주님께서는 그의 제자들에게 말씀하실 때에 자신을 위하여 모든 것을 손실로 여기는 사람들이 받을 축복에 대하여 말씀하셨습니다:

“진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, 누구든지 나와 복음을 위하여 집이나, 형제나, 자매나, 아버지나, 어머니나, 아내나, 자식이나 전토를 버린 사람은, 현세에서는 집이나, 형제나, 자매나, 어머니나, 자식이나, 토지를 일백 배로 받되 박해와 더불어 받겠으며, 또 오는 세상(the world to come)에서는 영생을 얻으리라. 그러나 먼저 된 많은 사람이 나중 되고 나중 된 사람들이 먼저 되리라.”(막 10:29-31)

                 그렇습니다! 조만간 그분께서 오시면 만물들은 만왕의 왕이시며 만주이신 주 예수 그리스도 안으로 돌아가게 될 것입니다. 사도 바울은 이것이 하나님의 뜻이라고 에베소 교회 성도들에게 증거했습니다:

“그의 기쁘심을 따라 자기 안에서 계획하신 바 그의 뜻의 신비를 우리에게 알게 하셨으니 이는 때가 찬 경륜 안에서 하늘에 있는 것들이나 땅에 있는 것들이나 자신 안에 있는 것들까지도 만물을 그리스도 안에서 하나로 함께 모으려는 것이니라. 모든 것을 그 자신이 의도한 대로 행하시는 이의 목적에 따라 우리가 예정되어 그분 안에서 유업을 받았으니 이는 먼저 그리스도를 믿었던 우리로 그의 영광을 찬양케 하려 하심이니라. 그분 안에서 너희도 진리의 말씀, 곧 너희 구원의 복음을 듣고서 그분을 신뢰하였으니 또, 너희가 그분을 믿고서 약속의 성령으로 인침(sealed)을 받은 것이니라. 이는 값주고 사신 그 소유를 구속하기까지 우리의 유업의 보증이 되사 그의 영광을 찬양케 하려 하심이라.”(엡 1:9-14)

                 그러므로 사도 바울은 죄의 몸을 벗어버리고 그의 혼이 새 몸을 입는 부활의 날을 바라보면서 빌립보에 있는 성도들에게 그가 가진 소망에 대하여 증거했습니다:

“이는 내가 그를 알고 그의 부활과 능력과 그의 고난의 교제를 알아 그의 죽음의 본을 따르려 함이며 어떻게 해서든지 죽은 자들의 부활에 이르려는 것이라. 내가 이미 이르렀다 함도 아니요, 이미 온전해졌다 함도 아니라, 다만 나는 붙잡으려고 좇아갈 뿐이라. 나 역시 그것을 위하여 그리스도 예수께 붙잡혀 있노라. 형제들아, 나는 내가 붙잡은 것으로 여기지 아니하노라. 다만 한 가지 일, 즉 뒤에 있는 것은 잊어버리고 앞에 있는 것들에 손을 뻗쳐 그리스도 예수 안에서 하나님의 고귀한 부르심의 상을 위하여 좇아갈 뿐이라.”(빌 3:10-14)

                     오늘 우리는 우리 주 예수 그리스도를 얼마나 알고 있는지 깊이 묵상해 보는 축복된 시간이 되시기를 바랍니다. 예수께서는 자신을 알아야 하는 것에 대하여 말씀하셨습니다:

“성경을 상고하라. 이는 너희가 성경에 영생이 있다고 생각함이니, 그 성경은 나에 대하여 증거하고 있음이라. 너희는 생명을 얻으려고 내게 오기를 원치 아니하는도다.”(요 5:39,40)

주님께서 부활하신 후 제자들을 만나셨을 때 성경이 어떤 것인지 구체적으로 말씀하셨습니다:

“이런 것이 너희와 함께 있을 때 말했던 바 모세의 율법과 선지서들과 시편에 나에 관하여 기록된 모든 것이 이루어져야 한다던 그 말이니라.”(눅 24:44)

이 말씀을 하신 후 그들의 지각(understanding)을 여시어 성경을 깨닫게 하셨습니다.

                     그러므로, 주님께서는 모든 구약 성경에 기록된 말씀들이 그분 자신, 즉 그리스도에 대한 말씀들이라고 친히 말씀하신 것입니다. 그렇습니다! 구약성경은 지나간 역사책이 아니고 주 예수 그리스도에 대한 예언의 말씀들로 가득차 있습니다. 구약성경을 공부하지 않고서는 우리의 죄들을 위하여 죽으시고 부활하신 그리스도가 어떤 분이시며 하늘과 땅에 대한 그분의 뜻을 알 수 없는 것입니다. 그러므로 우리는 구약 셩경에 나타나신 그리스도를 공부하면서 가장 고상한 그리스도에 대한 지식을 알게 될 것입니다. 또한 장차 그분께서 오실 때까지 우리 자신의 것을 그분께 드림으로써 우리가 쇠잔해질지라도 그분을 융성하게 함으로써 그분으로부터 되돌려 받는 축복을 받는 모두가 되어야 할 것입니다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 24;1-10

Main scripture: Philippians 3:20-21

Subject: How much we know Christ as the citizens of heaven?

         The citizen belong to a nation shall be living in peace through knowing of the nation. If they are ignorant of the laws of their nation, they are to be troubled in many ways. The laws of the nation should be observed by the citizens; and only they that keep the laws shall be protected by the laws. We have seen many Korean Americans in troubles, for they brake the laws because of their ignorance of the laws.

        Apostle Paul testified unto the saints in Ephesians in the Spirit of the citizen through regeneration of the Holy Ghost:

“Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”(Eph. 1:5-7)

             Therefore, though the born again children of God are still living in the world observing the laws, they have to observe the laws of the words of God spiritually so that they may be able to live in peace physically and spiritually. Apostle Peter encouraged unto the saints that have the citizenship of heavenly kingdom: “Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. 1Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.”(1Pet. 2:10-14)

               The knowledge of the present world shall be in vain, when the Lord Jesus come, and judge all the nations; but the knowledge of the kingdom of God is most excellent of the knowledge of the world, for the kingdom of God established by the Lord Jesus Christ is forever more. Apostle Paul testified of his changed life since he met with the Lord Jesus, and entered the kingdom of God:

“But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:”(Phil. 3:7-9)

             Yeah! Things gained to us are to be counted loss for Christ as testified by Apostle Paul. More we spent our time and material and body for us, less for Christ. John the Baptist was born six months before Jesus born departed the world after he finished his mission of Jesus as the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world. When his disciples went to Jesus, he said, “He must increase, but I must decrease.”(John 3:30)

                 Anyhow the whole universe belong to the Lord Jesus, as testified by Apostle John saying, “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”(John 1:3)

Apostle Paul also testified unto the saints in Colossians of this truth saying, “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;”(Col. 1:15-19)

             He also testified unto the saints in Romans of this:

“O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.”(Rom. 11:33-36)

             Therefore, before the Lord Jesus return or we depart this world, we should have the faith that we first give to him to receive it back at the Judgment seat of Christ. We see the ensamples of them that had such a faith and the other without faith. The first one was a woman that broke an alabaster box of very precious ointment that was her whole possessions to pour on the head of Jesus to prepare for his burial(Matt. 26:7, Mark 14:3, Luke 7:37); and the other one was a young man that went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions, upon hearing from Jesus saying, “Give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasures in heaven: and come and follow me.”(Matt. 19:16-22).

               The Lord Jesus said unto his disciples of the blessing unto them that take loss for themselves for the sake of him:

“Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.”(Mark 10:29-31)

                Yeah! Soon or later, when he comes, all things shall return into the Lord Jesus Christ, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Apostle Paul testified, this is the will of God unto the saints in Ephesians:

“Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.”(Eph. 1:9-14)

               Therefore, Apostle Paul was looking forward the day of resurrection when he put of the body of sin, and his soul is clothed by the new one; and he testified of such a hope unto the saints in Philippians: “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”(Phil. 3:10-14)

               I wish all of us to meditate how much we have know the Lord Jesus Christ deeply. Jesus said that we have to know him:

“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.”(John 5:39-30)

Jesus explained about the scriptures in details, when he met with the disciples after he rose again, and he opened their understanding for them to understand the scriptures: “These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.”(Luke 24:44)

               He testified unto them of the scriptures of the Old Testament regarding Christ. Yeah! The Old Testament is not only passed history, but full of the prophesies of the Lord Jesus Christ to come. Unless we study the books of the Old Testament, there is no way to know Christ who died for our sins and rose again, neither to know the will of God for heaven and earth. Therefore, wish all of us to study Christ in the Old Testament to have the excellent knowledge of him. And we are to be blessed when he comes back through make him increase and decrease for us. Amen! Hallelujah!
