금주의 묵상: 이사야 9:1-7

본문: 누가복음 1:26-38

제목: 그의 왕국에서 이스라엘을 영원히 통치하실 주 예수 그리스도의 탄생

         성경은 예수님이 태어나신 날을 기념하라는 말씀 대신에 그분의 죽으심을 기념하고 포하라고 말씀하고 있습니다. 이에 대하여 주님께서 사도 바울에게 주의 만찬을 함으로써 주님의 죽으심을 기념하라고 말씀하셨습니다. 주의 만찬은 세상의 모든 죄를 전가 받으신 그분의 몸을 상징하는 누룩 없는 빵과 죄값을 치르시기 위하여 흘리신 그분의 피를 상징하는 포도즙을 먹고 마심으로써 그분의 죽으심을 기념하고 그분께서 오실 때까지 그분의 죽으심을 선포하라고 말씀하셨습니다(고전 11:23-30).

         예수께서는 세상에 알려지지 않게 비밀리에 태어나셨습니다. 하나님께서는 천사 가브리엘을 마리아에게 보내셔서 그분이 어떤 분이시며 장차 그분께서 하실 일에 대하여 알에 하셨습니다:

“보라, 네가 너의 태 안에 임신하여 한 아들을 낳으리니 그의 이름을 예수라 하라. 그는 위대하게 되실 것이며, 가장 높으신 분의 아들이라 불릴 것이요, 또 주 하나님께서 그에게 그의 조상 다윗의 보좌를 주실 것이며, 그는 야곱의 집을 영원히 통치할 것이요 그의 왕국은 무궁하리라.”(눅 1:31-33)

         예수께서 태어나시기 전 약 700 년 전에 하나님께서 선지자 이사야를 통하여 미리 말씀하셨습니다:

“이는 우리에게 한 아이가 태어났고 우리에게 한 아들이 주어졌음이니 정부가 그의 어깨 위에 있을 것이요 , 그의 이름은 경이로운 분이라, 상담자라, 능하신 하나님이라, 영원하신 아버지라, 화평의 통치자라 불리리라. 그의 정부의 화평의 증가함이 다윗의 보좌와 그의 왕국 위에 바르게 세워지고, 지금부터 영원까지 공의와 정의로 그것을 굳게 세우는 데 끝이 없으이라. 만군의 주의 열성이 이것을 시행하시리라.”(사 9:6-7)

         선지자 이사야는 이 땅에 다윗의 보좌에 앉으셔서 통치하시는 예수 그리스도의 왕국에 대하여 자세하게 증거했습니다:

“이새의 줄기에서 한 싹이 나며 그의 뿌리들에서 한 가지(Branch)가 자랄 것이라. 주의 영이 그의 위에 머물리니 지혜와 명철의 영이며, 계획과 능력의 영이며, 지식과 주를 두려워하는 영이라. 주를 두려워하는 가운데 그를 속히 명철케 하리니 그는 자기 눈으로 보는 대로 판단하지 아니하고 귀로 듣는 대로 책망하지도 아니하나, 가난한 자를 의로 판단하며 세상의 온유한 자를 위해서는 정직으로 책망하리라. 또 그는 그의 입의 막대기로 세상을 치고 자기 입술의 호흡으로 악한 자를 죽일 것이라. 의가 그의 허리띠가 되며, 신실함이 그의 옆구리의 띠가 될 것이니라. 또한 이리가 어린양과 함께 거하며 표범이새끼 영소와 함께 누울 것이요, 송아지와 어린 사자와 살진 짐승이 함께하며 어린아이가 그들을 이끌리라. 암소와 곰이 함께 먹으며 그것들의 새끼들이 함께 누울 것이요, 사자가 소처럼 짚을 먹으리라. 또 젖먹는 아이가 독사의 구멍에서 장난하며, 젖뗀 아이가 독사의 굴에 손을 넣으리라. 그들은 나의 모든 거룩한 산에서 해치거나 파괴시키지 않으리니 이는 마치 물들이 바다를 덮음같이 세상이 주의 지식으로 충만할 것임이니라.”(사 11:1-9)

         선지자 이사야는 주 예수 그리스도께서 통치하시는 땅이 어떻게 새로워질 것인가에 대하여서도 예언했습니다:

“광야의 메마른 곳이 그들을 기뻐하고, 사막이 기뻐하며 장미처럼 피리라. 그것이 무성하게 피어 기쁨과 노래로 즐거워할 것이요, 레바논의 영광, 곧 칼멜과 샤론의 아름다움이 그것에게 주어지리라. 그들이 주의 영광과 우리 하나님의 아름다움을 보리로다. 너희는 연한 손들에 힘을 주며, 떨리는 무릎을 견고하게 하고 두려워하는 마음을 가진 자들에게 말하라. 강건하라. 두려워 말라. 보라, 너희 하나님이 복수하러 오시며, 하나님이 보응하시리니 그가 오시어 너희를 구원하실 것이라. 그때에 소경의 눈이 뜨이며 귀머거리의 귀가 뚫리리라. 그때에 절름발이가 사슴처럼 뛰고 벙어리의 혀는 노래하리라.. 광야에는 물이 솟아나오며 사막에는 시내가 흐르리라.”(사 35:1-6)

           이렇게 하나님께서 하늘과 땅을 통치하시는 위대하신 왕으로 태어나셨지만, 세상은 생명의 빛으로 오신 예수님을 바라고 기다리던 사람은 극히 소수였다고 성경은 증거하고 있습니다. 예수께서 태어나실 것을 믿고 기다리다가 주님을 만난 사람들 가운데 안나와 시므온이 있었으며 그들은 마침내 죽기 전에 그들이 기도한 대로 아기 예수를 안을 수 있었습니다. 또한 들에서 양을 치던 목자들도 그들에게 나타난 천사들의 말을 듣고 태어나신 예수님을 만날 수 있었습니다. 또한 동방에서 하늘에 나타난 큰 별을 보고 유대인의 왕으로 태어나신 예수님을 만나기 위해 2년에 걸쳐서 여행하여 마침내 두 살 정도 되신 어린 아이 예수님을 만날 수 있었습니다.

             성경은 시므온과 안나에 대하여 이렇게 증거하고 있습니다:

“그런데, 보라, 예루살렘에 시므온이라고 하는 사람이 있었는데 이 사람은 의롭고 경건하며 이스라엘의 위로를 기다리고 있더라. 그때에 성령께서 그에게 임하셨고 성령께서 그에게 계시로 알게 해 주셨으니, 이는 그가 주의 그리스도를 보기 전에는 죽음을 보지 않으리라는 것이라. 그가 성령에 의하여 성전으로 들어오는데 그때 그 부모가 아기 예수를 데려오니, 율법의 관례대로 그에게 행하고자 함이더라. 그때 시므온이 자기 두 팔로 그를 안고 하나님을 송축하며 말하기를 주여 주의 말씀대로 이제는 주의 종을 평안히 가게 하옵소서. 이는 내 눈으로 주의 구원을 보았기 때문이니이다. 이 구원은 모든 백성 앞에 예비하신 것이며 이방인들에게 비치는 빛이요, 주의 백성 이스라엘의 영광이옵니다.”(눅 2:25-32)

“아셀 지파 파누엘의 딸인 안나라고 하는 여선지자가 있었는데, 나이가 매우 많더라. 그녀가 결혼하여 칠 년을 남편과 함께 살았고, 과부가 된 지 약 팔십사 년이 되었으나, 성전을 떠나지 않고, 밤낮 금식과 기도로써 하나님을 섬기더라. 마침 같은 시간에 그녀가 와서 주께 감사드리고 예루살렘에서 구속을 기다리는 모든 사람에게 그 아기에 대하여 말하더라.”(눅 2:36-38)

            또한 성경은 예수님의 탄생의 소식을 듣고 아기 예수에게 경배한 이름 없는 목자들에 대하여서도 증거하고 있습니다:

“그때 고을에 목자들이 있었는데 들에서 묵으면서 밤에 양떼를 지키더라. 그런데, 보라, 주의 천사가 그들 위에 임하시고 주의 영광이 그들을 두루 비추니, 그들이 몹시 두러워하더라. 그 천사가 그들에게 말하기를 ‘두려워 말라. 보라, 이는 내가 너희에게 큰 기쁨의 좋은 소식을 알림이니 이것은 모든 백성을 위한 것이라. 이는 오늘 다윗의 고을에서 너희에게 구주가 나셨음이니, 그분이 주이신 그리스도시니라. 이것이 너희에게 표적이니 너희는 포대기에 싸여 구유에 누워 있는 아기를 보리라.’고 하더라. 그때 갑자기 수많은 하늘의 군사들이 그 천사와 함께 있어 하나님을 찬양하며 말하기를 ‘지극히 높은 곳에서는 하나님께 영광이요, 땅 위에서는 화평이요, 사람들에게는 호의로다.’라고 하고 그 천사들이 그들을 떠나 하늘로 간 후 목자들이 서로 말하기를 ‘우리가 베들레헴까지 가서 주께서 우리에게 알게 하신 이런 일이 일어난 것을 보자.’ 하고 그들이 황급히 가서 마리아와 요셉과 구유에 누어 있는 그 아기를 보더라. 그들이 이 일을 보고 나서 천사가 그 아기에 관하여 그들에게 한 말을 널리 알렸더니 목자들이 말한 그런 일에 대해서 들은 모든 사람들이 놀라더라.”(눅 2:8-18)

           또한 성경은 유대인이 아닌 이방인 가운데 예수님을 만난 사람들에 대해서도 증거하고 있습니다. 그들은 예수님에 대하여 미리 알고 있었으며 앞으로 선지자요, 대제사장이시며 왕이신 예수님이 그리스도이심을 알고 그분께 경배했습니다:

“이제 헤롯왕 때에 예수께서 유대의 베들레헴에서 태어나셨으니, 보라, 동방으로부터 현자들이 예루살렘에 와서 말하기를 ‘유대인의 왕으로 태어나신 분이 어디 계신가? 우리가 동방에서 그의 별을 보고 그분께 경배드리러 왔노라.’고 하더라. 헤롯왕이 이 말을 듣고 온 예루살렘과 더불어 불안해 하며 백성의 모든 선임 제사장들과 서기관들을 함께 모으고 그리스도가 어디에서 태어나겠느냐고 물으니, 그들이 말하기를 ‘유대 베들레헴이오니, 이는 선지자에 의하여 이렇게 기록된 바 ‘너 유다 땅 베들레헴은 유다의 통치자들 가운데 가장 작지 아니하도다. 이는 너에게서 한 다스리는 자가 나와 내 백성 이스라엘을 통치할 것임이니이다.’ 하더라….그들이 왕의 말을 듣고 떠났는데, 보라, 동방에서 보았던 그 별이 그들을 앞서 가다가 어린 아이 있는 곳 위에 와서 멈춘지라. 그들이 그 별을 보고 심히 큰 기쁨으로 즐거워하더라. 그들이 그 집에 들어가서 모친 마리아와 함께 있는 어린이이를 보고 엎드려 그에게 경배하고 보물함을 열어 황금과 유향과 몰약을 예물로 드리니라.”(마 2:1-6,9-11)

           우리가 반드시 기억해야 하는 사람들이 있습니다. 그 당시 헤롯왕은 예수님을 죽이기 위해 두 살 이하의 모든 아이들을 죽였습니다. 그 아이들은 그야말로 예수님 때문에 순교당한 최초의 사람들로 하늘에 기록되었을 것입니다. 마태는 이에 대하여 증거했습니다:

“그후 헤롯이 현자들에게 속은 줄 알자 심히 분노하여 군사를 보내어, 그가 현자들에게 자세히 물어본 그 때를 기준하여 두 살부터 그 아래로 다 죽이니라. 이는 선지자 예레미야를 통하여 말씀하신 것이 이루어졌음이니, 말씀하시기를 ‘라마에서 슬퍼하고 울며 크게 애곡하는 소리가 들렸으니, 라헬이 자기 자식들을 위하여 우는 것이요, 그녀가 자식들이 없으므로 위로받기를 원치 아니하였도다.’ 함이라.”(마 2:16-18)

             우리 주 예수 그리스도는 더 이상 아기도 아니시며 어린아이도 아니시며 어떤 누구에게도 죽임을 당하지 아니하실 만주의 주시며, 만왕의 왕으로 다시 오셔서 이 세상을 심판하실 분이십니다. 예수께서 태어나시는 날을 기다리면서 기도하며 금식하면서 주님을 만났던 시므온이나 안나, 그리고 들에서 양을 치면서 그리스도를 기다리다가 주님을 만났던 목자들과 별을 보고 주님을 만나기 위해 이 년이나 걸려서 예루살렘으로 가서 주님께 경배드렸던 현자들처럼 오늘날도 말씀 안에서 다시 오시는 주님을 기다리면서 그 날을 예비하고 있는 소수의 그리스도의 신부의 무리가 있는 것입니다. 그런가 하면 옛날 헤롯왕처럼 그분께서 오시는 것을 불안해 하며 두려워하면서 원치않는 무리들도 있는 것입니다. 또한 옛날 헤롯왕의 친구가 되어 예수께서 베들레헴 땅에 태어나실 것을 알면서도 알리지도 않고 육신의 정욕을 따라 행하던 제사장들과 서기관들이 있었던 것처럼 지금도 이 세상 정사와 권세와 친구로 살면서 배를 불리고 있는 종교인 지도자들이 있는 것을 봅니다. 그들은 주님께서 심판주로 오시는 것을 알면서도 증거하지도 않고 믿지도 않는 현대판 제사장들과 바리새인들 그리고 서기관들인 것입니다.

         옛날 대부분의 바리새인이나 사두개인 그리고 서기관들이 예수님이 누구신지 몰랐던 것은 성경을 상고하지 않았기 때문이었습니다. 또한 오늘날에도 성경에 나타난 예언들을 공부하지 않으면 만왕의 왕, 만주의 주로 오시는 주 예수 그리스도의 오심을 기다릴 수도 없고 또한 기쁨으로 만날 수도 없는 것입니다. 옛날 종교지도자들이 영적 소경들이 되어 소경들을 인도함으로 인해 예수 그리스도를 알아 보지 못한 것처럼, 지금 이 세대에도 같은 일이 일이 일어나는 것을 보지 못하면 역시 소경인 것입니다. 소경인지 아닌지 말씀을 통해 분별하는 사람은 복된 자들인 것입니다.

Meditation of the week: Isaiah 9:1-7

Main scripture: Luke 1:26-38

Subject: The birth of the Lord Jesus Christ that is to reign forever in his kingdom

       The scripture speaks to remember His death and proclaim not to remember the day of His birth. Of this, Apostle Paul asked to remember the death of Jesus Christ through the Lord’s supper. He asked to remember the death of Christ and proclaim his death until he come eating bread without leaven that symbolize his body without sin, and drinking wine without alcohol that symbolize his blood without sin

             Jesus was born secretly not known to the world. God sent the angel Gabriel to Mary to let her know who is Jesus as well as what he is going to do:

“And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.”(Luke 1:31-33)

               About seven hundred years before Jesus was born, the LORD God prophesied through prophet Isaiah:

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”(Isa. 9:6-7)

               Prophet Isaiah testified in details of the kingdom of Jesus Christ that is going to reign in the earth sitting at the throne of David:

“And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins. The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.(Isa. 11:1-1-9)

               Prophet Isaiah prophesied in detail of the regeneration of the earth when the Lord Jesus Christ reigns:

“The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.

It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the Lord, and the excellency of our God. Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.

Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.”(Isa. 35:1-6)

               God was manifested in flesh as the great king that will reign in heaven and earth, but there was very few that was waiting for his birth of Jesus that came as the light of life to the earth as testified by the scripture/ There were Simeon and Anna: they could embrace baby Jesus before they died as they had prayed. And the shepherds also visited baby Jesus upon hearing from the angels that appeared to them. The wise men knew the birth of the king of Jew upon seeing a great star; and they traveled two years to see child Jesus that was about two years old.

               The scripture testifies of Simeon and Anna: “And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.”(Luke 2:25-32)

“And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity; And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.”(Luke 2:36-38)

             The scripture also testifies of the shepherds that worshipped baby Jesus upon hearing the birth of Jesus: “And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.”(Luke 2:8-18)

               The scripture testifies of the Gentiles that saw Jesus . They knew of Jesus that is Prophet, High Priest and the King; and they worshipped Jesus knowing him as Christ to come: “Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel…. When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.

When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.”(Matt. 2:1-6, 9-11)

             But now, there are very important people that we have not to forget. At that time, king Herod killed all children from infants to two years old children to kill Jesus, They must have been recorded in heaven as the first martyrs for the sake of Jesus. Matthew testified of them: “Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men. Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.”(Matt. 2:16-18)

           Our Lord Jesus Christ is neither a baby nor a child anymore; he shall not be killed by anyone, but he will come to the earth as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords , and judge the world. Even nowadays, there are still the small group of bride of Christ who are waiting for the Lord Jesus preparing to see him as Simeon and Anna praying and fasting, and the shepherds caring for their sheep in the field, and the wise men travelled for two years to Jerusalem to worship Jesus. On the other hand, there also some group of people being troubled and fearing for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ as king Herod. And there are another kind of group as the priest and scribes the friends of Herod; they knew of Christ Jesus to be born in Bethlehem, but they followed the lust of flesh. They were the religious leaders worshipping their belly as their God. Even nowadays, such kinds of religious leaders are not willing to testify of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ to judge the world even though they are aware of him. They are modern priests, Pharisees and scribes being called as pastor or some other religious name.

             Almost Pharisees, Sadducees and Scribes were not aware of Jesus; it was because they never search the scriptures. Even nowadays, unless we study the words of prophesy, we are neither able to wait for the Lord Jesus Christ coming as King of King and Lord of Lords nor to see him with glory. As the old religious leaders had led the blind being themselves also the same blind so that they were not able to know Jesus, even in this generation exactly same thing is happening. Unless we see them, we also are spiritual blinded. Blessed them that discern the spiritual blind through the words of God. Amen! Hallelujah!
