금주의 묵상: 시편 95:1-11

본문: 느헤미야 8:1-12

제목: 이 세상에서 하나님의 자녀들이 누리는 능력

       하나님께서는 무너진 예루살렘 성벽을 재건하시기 위하여 느헤미야를 부르셨습니다. 많은 반대에도 불구하고 그는 믿음으로 성읍을 재건하는 일을 마치게 되었습니다. 제사장 에스라가 낭독하는 율법의 말씀을 들었을 때 모든 백성들이 울었습니다. 백성을 가르치던 레위인들이 “오늘은 주 너희 하나님께 거룩한 날이니 슬퍼하지 말며 울지도 말라.”고 말했습니다. 그때 느헤미야가 그들에게 말했습니다: “너희는 가서 살진 것을 먹고 단 것을 마시라. 그러나 아무 것도 준비되지 않은 자들에게는 그들의 몫을 보내라. 이는 오늘이 우리 주께 거룩한 날이니 너희는 슬퍼하지 말라.”(느 8:10) 또한 그는 “주를 기뻐함이 너희의 힘이기 때문이라.”고 외쳤습니다.

      그렇습니다. 하나님의 백성들이나 거듭난 하나님의 자녀들은 이 죄악 세상에서 낙심하지 않고 능력있는 삶을 살아야 하는 것입니다. 그 유일한 길에 대하여 느헤미야가 증거한 것입니다. 느헤미야 자신도 주 하나님을 기쁘시게 하기 위하여 예루살렘 성읍을 재건하는 일을 엄청난 방해와 어려움 가운데서도 기쁨으로 할 수 있었던 것은 주 하나님을 기쁘시게 함으로써 받은 능력을 통하여 능히 이룰 수 있었던 것입니다. 사도 바울도 심한 환난 과 박해 속에서도 주님께서 주신 사명을 완수할 수 있었던 비결에 대하여, “내게 능력 주시는 그리스도를 통하여 내가 모든 것을 할 수 있느니라.”(빌 4:13)고 증거했습니다.

      주를 기뻐함이 능력이 됨에 대하여 다윗왕 역시 값진 증거를 했습니다: “행악자로 인하여 초조해 하지 말며 죄악을 행하는 자들을 시기하지 말라. 이는 그들이 풀같이 곧 베어질 것이며 푸른 나물같이 말라질 것임이라. 주를 신뢰하고 선을 행하라. 그리하면 네가 땅에 거할 것이요, 진실로 그가 너를 먹이시리라. 또 주를 기뻐하라. 그리하면 그가 네 마음의 소원을 네게 주시리라. 너의 길을 맡기고 또 그를 신뢰하라. 그리하면 그가 이루어 주시리라.”(시 37:1-5) 다윗왕은 주를 기뻐함에 대하여 그분만을 신뢰하는 것이라고 증거했습니다. 또한 그때에 주의 능력이 함께 함에 대하여 증거한 것입니다.

        사도 바울도 거듭난 하나님의 자녀들이 이 세상에서 능격의 삶을 살 수 있는 것에 대하여 증거했습니다:

“너희 몸은 너희가 하나님으로부터 받은 바 너희 안에 계신 성령의 전인 것을 알지 못하느냐? 너희는 너희 자신의 것이 아니니라. 너희는 값을 치르고 산 것이니 그러므로 하나님의 것인 너희 몸과 너희 영으로 하나님께 영광을 돌리라.”(고전 6:19,20)

 “너희 안에서 역사하시는 분은 하나님이시기 때문이니 그분은 너희로 그분의 선한 기쁘심에 따라 뜻을 두고 행하게 하시느니라.”(빌 2:13)

 “이 신비는 여러 시대와 세대에 감추어졌다가 이제 그의 성도들에게 나타났고 하나님께서는 이들에게 이방인들 가운데 이 신비의 영광의 풍요함이 어떠한지를 알리고자 하셨으니 이 신비는 너희 안에 계신 그리스도시요, 곧 영광의 소망이라.”(골 1:26,27)

 그렇습니다. 하나님 자녀들은 이미 그리스도와 함께 이천 년 전에 십자가에서 영적으로 함께 죽었으며 이제는 영적으로 죽은 몸 안에 성삼위 하나님께서 함께 사시는 것입니다(갈 2:20). 그러므로 안에 계신 주님을 신뢰하면서 살아갈 때에 성령께서 주시는 능력으로 이 죄악 세상을 능히 이길 수 있는 것입니다. 주님께서 이 세상을 떠나가시기 전에 제자들에게 하신 말씀 속에도 같은 메시지가 들어 있습니다: “보라, 너희가 각자 자기 집으로 흩어지고 나를 혼자 남겨 놓을 때가 오나니, 실로 이미 왔노라. 그러나 나는 혼자 있지 아니하니, 이는 아버지께서 나와 함께 계심이라. 내가 이런 일들을 너희에게 말한 것은 너희가 내 안에서 화평을 지니게 하려 함이라. 세상에서는 너희가 환난을 당한 것이나 기운을 내라 내가 세상을 이겼노라.”(요 16:32,33)

      사도 요한도 하나님의 자녀들이 이 험한 세상을 이길 수 있는 비결에 대하여 증거했습니다: “청년들아, 내가 너희에게 쓴 것은 너희가 굳세고 하나님의 말씀이 너희 안에 거하며 너희가 악한 자를 이겼음이라…하나님께로부터 태어난 자는 누구든지 세상을 이기기 때문이라. 세상을 이기는 승리는 이것이니, 곧 우리의 믿음이라. 예수께서 하나님의 아들이심을 믿는 자 외에 세상을 이기는 자가 누구냐? …어린 자녀들아, 너희는 하나님께 속하였고 또 그들을 이겼으니, 이는 너희 안에 계신 분이 세상에 있는 자보다 더 크시기 때문이라….아들이 있는 자는 생명이 있고 하나님의 아들이 없는 자는 생명이 없느니라. 내가 하나님의 아들의 이름을 믿는 너희에게 이런 것을 씀은 너희에게 영생이 있음을 알게 하려 함이며, 또한 너희가 하나님의 아들의 이름을 믿도록 하려 함이라. 우리가 그의 안에서 가지는 담대함이 이것이니, 그의 뜻대로 무엇이든지 구하면, 그가 우리를 들으시는 것이라.(요일 2:14; 4:4; 5:4,5,12,13,14)

       그렇습니다. 하나님의 자녀들이 기뻐할 수 있는 것은 주 안에서 기뻐하는 것입니다. 다시 말해서 주님께서 약속하신 말씀 안에서 앞으로 오실 주 예수 그리스도의 영광을 바라보면서 기뻐하는 기쁨인 것입니다. 이 약속의 말씀을 믿음으로써 주님께서 이미 오신 것처럼 기뻐함으로 그 기쁨이 능력이 되는 것입니다. 이 믿음에 대하여 사도 바울은 “이제 믿음은 바라는 것들에 대한 실상이요, 보이지 않는 것들에 대한 증거니, 원로들이 그것으로써 좋은 평판을 얻었느니라. 믿음으로 우리는 세상들이 하나님의 말씀으로 지어진 것을 깨닫나니 보이는 것들은 나타나는 것들로 된 것이 아니니라.”(히 11:1-3)

사도 바울은 고린도교회 성도들을 향하여 “이는 우리가 믿음으로 행하고 보는 것으로 하지 아니함이라.”(고후 5:7)고 증거했던 것입니다.

      사도 바울의 그의 전 생애 동안 성도들을 향한 메시지는 “주 안에서 기뻐하라.”는 것이었습니다. 그는 마지막 감옥에서 순교할 날을 기다리면서도 밖에 있는 성도들에게 “끝으로 나릐 형제들아, 주 안에서 기뻐하라. 너희에게 같은 말을 쓰는 것이 내게도 지루하지 않을 뿐만아니라 너희를 위해서도 안전하니라.”(빌 3:1)고 간곡히 권면했습니다.

        본문에서 에스라가 율법책을 낭독했을 때 이스라엘 백성들이 자기들에게 선포된 말씀을 깨닫고 즐거워했습니다. 그들은 율법책에 나타나 있는 그들에 대한 소망을 깨닫고 믿음으로 기뻐했던 것입니다. 칠십 년동안 바벨론의 노예로 살았던 아픔이 그들 마음 속에 깊히 뿌리박혀 있었지만 제사장 에스라의 입을 통하여 선포된 말씀을 들었을 때 장차 그들의 메시야가 오실 때에 그들이 누릴 영광을 깨닫고 그날을 바라보면서 모든 고통을 잊어버리고 즐거워할 수 있었던 것입니다. 옛날 초대교회 성도들 역시 온갖 고난과 박해 속에서 불에 타서 죽고 짐승들에게 찢겨 죽으면서도 후일에 주 예수 그리스도께서 나타나실 때 영광스러운 부활을 바라보면서 찬송하면서 떠날 수 있었던 것입니다.

        하나님께서는 선지자들을 통하여 자기 백성들과 자녀들을 위하여 행하실 일들에 대하여 말씀하셨습니다: “오 하늘들아, 노래하라. 오 땅아, 기뻐하라. 오 산들아, 노래를 터뜨리라. 이는 주가 자기 백성을 위로하셨으며 그의 고난받는 자들에게 자비를 베풀 것임이라….오 땅이여, 두려워 말라. 즐거워하고 기뻐하라. 이는 주께서 큰 일들을 행하실 것임이라. 오 시온의 딸아, 노래하고 기뻐하라. 이는 보라, 내가 왔고 내가 네 가운데 거할 것이기 때문이라. 주가 말하노라.”(사 49:13, 욜 2:21, 슥 2:10)

      우리 믿음의 창시자요 완성자이신 예수님께서는 자기 앞에 놓인 즐거움(영광스러운 부활)을 위하여 십자가를 견디시고 수치를 개의치 아니하시더니(Despised shame) 하나님의 보좌 오른편에 영광 가운데 앉으셨습니다(히 12:2). 우리 또한 앞에 놓인 몸의 구속, 즉 휴거의 날에 있을 몸의 부활을 바라보면서 그 기쁨이 주는 능력으로 세상을 능히 이길 수 있는 것입니다.

        사도 바울은 마지막으로 고린도교회 성도들에게도 동일한 부탁을 했습니다: “형제들아, 마지막으로 말하노니 기뻐하라. 온전하게 되라. 위로를 받으라. 한 마음을 품으라. 평안히 지내라. 그러면 사랑과 화평의 하나님께서 너희와 함께 계시리라.”(고후 13:11) 또한 사도 바울은 유대인들로부터 핍박받았던 데살로니가 교회 성도들에게 항상 기뻐하는 것이 그리스도 예수 안에서 자녀들에게 주시는 하나님의 뜻이라고 증거했습니다. 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: Psalms 95:1-11

Main scripture: Nehemiah 8:1-12

Subject: The strength that the children of God have in this world

        The LORD God called Nehemiah to let him restore the castle of Jerusalem. In spite of lots of hindrance by the Jews, he could finish his mission by faith. Upon hearing the word of the law spoken by Ezra, the people wept. Then, the Levite taught the people,, This day is holy unto the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep. Then Nehemiah spoke unto them:

“Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry;”(Neh. 8:10) And he continued to say, “For the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

       Yeah! The people of God as well as the children of God have to live with the power of God not discouraged in this wicked world. Of the only way to do it, Nehemiah testified unto them. It was possible for him to finish his mission of restoration of Jerusalem with joy to please the LORD God through the power of God from the joy of the LORD even in the midst of great hindrance and persecution. Even Apostle Paul testified of the secret that he had been able to finish his mission saying,

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”(Phil. 4:13)

       Of the strength from the joy of the LORD, king David also made a valuable testimony saying, Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”(Ps. 37:1-5)

He testified of the joy of the LORD is to trust only the LORD God through the power of the LORD with him.

        Apostle Paul testified of the strength of the children of God living in this world saying unto the churches:

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

0For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”(1Cor. 6:19,20)

“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”(Phil. 2:13)

“Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:

To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:”(Col. 1:26,27)

       Yeah! The children of God are crucified unto dead with Christ spiritually; but now the God of Trinity is dwelling in the dead body spiritually (Gal. 2:20). Therefore, trusting in the Lord within us, it is possible for us to overcome the wicked world through the power of the Lord. There is the same message in the word of Jesus spoken unto his disciples before he departed the world:

“Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”(John 16:32,33)

       Apostle John also testified of the way to overcome the sinful world for the children of God:

“I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one…… Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world….. 4For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

….. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:” “(1John 2:14; 4:4; 5:56,12,13,14)

       Yeah! The children of God can rejoice in the Lord. In other word, this joy is from forwarding the glorious coming of the Lord Jesus Christ promised in the word of God. In the faith of the word of God, we could be able to rejoice through the strength given by God as if the Lord Jesus already has come before our eyes. Apostle Paul testified of such kind of faith saying, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

For by it the elders obtained a good report.

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”(Heb. 11:1-3)

He also testified unto the church of Corinthians saying, “(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)”(2Cor. 5:7)

       The massage of Apostle Paul for his whole life was to rejoice in the Lord. He encouraged the saints waiting for his death in the prison saying, “Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.”(Phil. 3:1)

       In the main passage, when Ezra read in the book of the law of God distinctly, the people of Israel understood the reading, and wept with joy. They understood their hope in the book of the law of God, and rejoice with faith in the word of God. Even though the root of bitterness was in their heart because of 70 years of slavery in Babylon, upon hearing the word of God from the mouth pries Ezra, they could rejoice understanding of their glory upon the coming of their Messiah forgetting all the suffering in Babylon. The Christians in the early churches could leave the world with praising the Lord looking forward their glorious resurrection in the day of Christ appearing in the air, even in the midst of all kinds of suffering from persecution even being burned of their bodied unto death, and torn by the beasts.

        The LORD God had spoken through his prophets of what he is going to do for his people as well as his children:

“Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the Lord hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted.

….. Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the Lord will do great things.

….. Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.”(Isa. 49:13, Joel 2:21, Zech. 2:10)

    Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that wa set before him endure the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God (Heb. 12:2). We can overcome the world with the strength from the joy looking forward the redemption of our body that is the resurrection of body in the day of Rapture.

        Apostle Paul left his final encouraging message of rejoicing in the Lord unto the church of Corinthians saying,

“Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.”)2Cor. 13:11)

      He also testified unto the saints in Thessalonians under persecution of the Jew of the will of God in Christ Jesus for them saying, “Rejoice evermore!” Amen! Hallelujah!
