금주의 묵상: 이사야 53:1-12

본문: 로마서 5:20-6:23

제목: 죄의 몸이 살아 있는 것처럼 사는가? 죽은 것처럼 사는가?

        법이 없으면 죄가 성립되지 않는 것입니다. 다시 말해서 하나님께서 율법을 주시지 않으셨다면 어느누구에게도 죄를 물으실 수 없는 것입니다. 그러나 하나님께서 지으신 양심의 법에 따라 율법이 없어도 죄를 깨달을 수 있는 것입니다. 율법이 없었던 노아 시대에 사람들의 마음의 생각과 상상이 악할 뿐임을 보시고 하나님께서는 사람 지으신 것을 후회하셨습니다. 그들은 마음 속에 있는 양심의 소리를 외면하고 악한 생각을 계속 품다가 그 생각이 악한 상상에 이르게 되어 포악한 행위를 자행했던 것입니다. 그러나 그 당시 노아 한 사람만이 하나님의 눈에서 은혜를 찾았습니다. 하나님께서는 노아와 그 아들들을 통하여 다시 한 번 사람들을 태어나게 해서 지구를 채우시려고 물로 심판하셨던 것입니다.

        사도 바울은 율법이 없었던 시대의 사람들에 대하여 로마에 있는 사람들에게 성령 안에서 증거했습니다: “율법 없이 죄를 지은 사람들은 모두 율법 없이 멸망할 것이요, 율법 안에서 죄를 지은 사람들은 모두 율법에 의하여 심판을 받게 되리니 하나님 앞에서는 율법을 듣는 자가 의인이 아니요, 율법을 행하는 자들만이 의롭게 될 것임이라. 율법이 없는 이방인들이 본성으로 율법에 있는 일들을 행할 때에는 율법이 없어도 이것들이 스스로에게 율법이 되나니 그들의 양심도 증거하고 그들의 이성이 송사하거나 서로 변명하여 그들의 마음에 기록된 율법의 행위를 보여주느니라. 이런 일은 하나님께서 나의 복음대로 예수 그리스도를 통하여 사람들의 은밀한 것들을 심판하실 그 날에 있으리라.”(롬 2:12-16)

       그렇습니다. 하나님께서는 사람들을 심판하시는 기준이 시대에 따라 다른 것입니다. 에댄 동산에서는 선악의 지식의 열매를 먹지 말라는 단 한 가지 법이 있었습니다. 그러나 그후부터 약 2,500 년 동안 율법을 주시기 전까지는 하나님의 법이 없었던 때입니다. 율법 시대 전까지 하나님께서 심판하시는 기준은 각 사람의 양심에 따라 행한 행위에 따라 심판하시는 것입니다. 사도 바울은 이에 대하여 사람들의 은밀한 것들을 심판하실 그 날에 있을 것이라고 증거했습니다. 사도 요한은 이 마지막 심퍈이 집행되는 광경을 성령 안에서 미리 보고 증거했습니다: “또 내가 큰 백보좌와 그 위에 앉으신 분을 보니, 그의 면전에서 땅과 하늘이 사라졌고 그들의 설 자리도 보이지 않더라. 또 내가 죽은 자들을 보니, 작은 자나 큰 자나 하나님 앞에 서 있는데, 책들이 펴져 있으며 또 다른 책도 펴져 있는데 그것은 생명의 책이라. 죽은 자들은 자기들의 행위에 따라 그 책들에 기록된 대로 심판을 받더라. 바다도 그 안에 있던 죽은 자들을 넘겨주고 또 사망과 지옥도 그들 안에 있던 죽은 자들을 넘겨주니 그들이 각자 자기들의 행위에 따라 심판을 받으며 사망과 지옥도 불못에 던져지니 이것이 줄째 사망이라. 누구든지 생명의 책에 기록되지 않은 자는 불못에 던져지더라.”(계 20:11-15)

         노아 때 사람들의 경우를 볼 때에 양심의 법에 따라 행한 사람들은 극히 소수에 불과할 것을 알 수 있는 것입니다. 양심의 법과 율법 아래서 살던 사람들은 그들의 양심에 따라 살았던 사람들과 율법 시대에 살았던 대부분의 사람들은 예수 그리스도의 천년왕국이 끝날 때까지 부활하지 못하는 것입니다. 다시 말해서, 대 환란 기간 중에 회개한 이스라엘 백성들과 회개하고 어린 양의 피로 옷을 씻어 구원받은 이방인들(계 7:9,10)과 휴거되어 하늘에서 어린 양의 혼인식에 참여한 후 주 예수 그리스도와 함께 이 땅에 내려온 하나님의 거듭난 자녀들이 주님과 함께 영광을 누리게 될 천 년 동안에는 그들은 부활하지 못하는 것입니다. 그들은 첫째 부활에 참여하지 못하고 하나님의 백보죄 심판석에서 심판 받기 위하여 두 번째 부활에 참여하게 되는 것입니다. 사도 요한은 첫 번째 부활에 참여하는 자들의 축복에 대하여 증거했습니다: 첫 번째 부활에 참여하는 자는 복되고 거룩하도다. 둘째 사망이 그들을 다스리는 권세가 없고 오히려 그들이 하나님과 그리스도의 제사장들이 되어 천 년 동안 그와 함께 통치하리라.”(계 20:6)

           오늘 우리에 주신 본문 말씀에서 우리는 율법 시대가 지나고 다른 시대, 즉 은혜 시대에 구원받은 자들에 대하여, 또한 그들의 삶에 대하여 증거하고 있습니다. 예수 그리스도께서 모든 율법의 죄들을 자신의 몸에 전가 받으시고 우리의 양심의 법과 율법을 범한 모든 죄들로 인하여 죄도 없고 죄를 모르시는 분께서 죄가 되셔서(고후 5:21) 십자가에서 죽으신 이후에 구원받은 사람들이 받은 은혜에 대하여 증거하고 있습니다.

          하나님께서 죄악 세상에 율법을 주신 것은 율법이 많은만큼 법죄도 많아지게 하시려 함이라고 증거하고 있습니다. 죄가 많아질수록 자신의 비참함을 깨닫고 결국에 가서 예수 그리스도께로 나오는 길밖에 없는 것을 깨닫게 하시려는 것임을 증거한 것입니다. 사도 바울은 이에 대하여 갈라디아 교회에게 증거했습니다: “그리하여 율법이 우리를 그리스도에게로 인도하는 지도교사가 되었으니 이는 우리를 믿음으로 의롭게 하려 함이라. 믿음이 온 후로 우리는 더 이상 지도교사 아래 있지 아니하도다.”(갈 3:24,25)

           주님께서 유대인들에게 빚진 자가 빚을 탕감받음에 대하여 비유로 말씀하시면서 자신을 믿어 구원받은 자가 받을 은헤에 대하여 말씀하셨습니다:

“빚을 주는 어떤 사람에게 빚진 자 둘이 있었는데, 한 사람은 오백 데나리온을 꾸었고 또 다른 사람은 오십 데나리온을 꾸었더라. 그러나 그들이 갚을 것이 없으므로 그가 둘 다 탕감해 주었더라. 그러므로 그들 중 누가 그를 더 사랑하겠는가? 내게 말하라.”(눅 7:41,42)

       사도 바울은 본문에서 “죄가 많아진 곳에 은혜가 더욱 넘치나니“라고 말함으로써 죄가 많은 사람은 하나님께 많이 빚진 자로 표현한 것입니다. 다시 말해서 죄가 많았던 사람이 예수 그리스도의 은혜로 구원받아 모든 죄의 빚을 탕감받을 때 은혜가 더욱 넘치어 감사하게 된다는 것입니다. 이전에는 죄가 군림하여 사망이 넘쳤지만 이제는 은혜를 통하여 의가 군림하여 예수 그리스도 우리 주로 인해 영원한 생명을 받게 되었기 때문인 것입니다.

        많은 죄 가운데서 하나님의 은혜로 구원받은 우리가 “은혜가 넘치게 하려고 또 다시 죄에 거하겠느냐?” 라는 질문을 던져주고 있습니다. 그의 대답은 “결코 그럴 수 없느니라!” 것입니다. 그 이유에 대하여 “죄에게 죽은 우리가 어떻게 더 이상 그 가운데 살겠느냐?”는 것입니다. 사도 바울은 갈라디아 교회에게 편지할 때 그 이유에 대하여 “내가 율법으로 말미암아 율법에게 죽은 것은 하나님께는 살고자 함이라. 내가 그리스도와 함께 십자가에 못박혀 있으나 그럼에도 나는 살아 있노라. 그러나 내가 사는 것이 아니요, 그리스도께서 내 안에 사시는 것이라. 내가 이제 육신 안에서 사는 삶은 나를 사랑하시어 나를 위해 자신을 주신 하나님의 아들을 믿는 믿음으로 사는 것이라.”(갈 2:19,20)고 증거했습니다. 다시 말해서 그가 예수 그리스도를 믿어 모든 죄를 용서받아 생명을 받은 후의 그의 죄의 몸은 이미 그리스도와 함께 십자가에서 함께 죽었다는 것입니다. 다시 말해서 아담의 자손으로 태어난 옛 사람은 이미 하늘에서는 사망 신고가 되어 있다는 것이며 죽은 사람에게는 어떤 형벌도 줄 수 없다고 증거한 것입니다. 또한 죽은 사람이 어떻게 죄를 지을 수 있느냐는 것입니다.

      이에 대하여 오늘 본문에서는 “예수 그리스도 안으로 침례받은 우리가 그의 죽으심 안으로 침례받은 것을 알지 못하느냐? 그러므로 우리가 죽음 안으로 침례를 받아 그와 함께 장사되었으니 이는 아버지의 영광으로 인하여 그리스도께서 죽은 자들로부터 일으켜지심과 같이 우리도 또한 생명의 새로움 가운데서 행하게 하려 함이니라. 만일 우리가 그의 죽으심의 모양으로 함께 심겨졌다면 또한 그의 부활하심의 모양과 같이 되리라. 우리가 이것을 아나니 곧 우리 옛 사람이 그와 함께 못박힌 것은 죄의 몸을 멸하여 더 이상 우리가 죄에게 종 노릇 하지 않게 하기 위함이니라.”(롬 6:4-6)

         사도 바울은 구원받은 우리가 하늘 법정에서 재판괸이신 하나님께서 우리에게 내리신 사법적인 판결에 대하여 증거하고 있는 것입니다. 다시 말해서 우리가 구원받는 순간 우리 옛 사람, 즉 아담으로부터 물려받은 죄인은 이미 십자가에서 죽으신 그리스도 안에 있었다고 여기시는 것이며 동시에 우리 옛 사람은 이미 죽었다고 판결하신 것입니다. 그러므로 이 사실을 빋는 사람은 죄와 상관없는 삶을 살게 되는 것입니다. 주님께서는 “진리가 너희를 자유롭게 하리라.”(요 8:32)고 말씀하셨습니다. 이 진리를 깨닫게 될 때에 모든 죄들로부터 자유롭게 되는 것입니다. 그러나 이 진리를 알지 못하면 죽은 자가 무덤으로부터 나와 죄를 짓는 것처럼 냄새 나는 삶을 살게 되는 것입니다. 그러므로 진리를 깨달아 아는 것이야말로 참 자유를 누리는 비결이며 이로 인하여 진리인 하나님의 말씀을 상고하여 그 말씀 안에 거해야 하는 것입니다.

        그러므로 이 진리를 깨달은 사람은 첫째로, “자신을 정녕 죄에게는 죽은 자요, 예수 그리스도 우리 주로 말미암아 하나님께는 산 자로 여기라.”는 진리에 순종하는 삶을 살아야 하는 것입니다. 다시 말해서 육신적으로는 아무런 느낌이 없지만 진리를 믿음으로 죄 가운데 살았던 자신의 옛 사람은 이미 죽어 장사된 것으로 여기고 살아야 함을 말씀하는 것입니다.

둘째로, 이 진리를 깨닫게 될 때에 이미 죽은 몸에게 순종하지 않는 사람을 살게 된다는 것입니다.

셋째로, 이렇게 새로운 삶을 살게 될 때에 하나님 앞에 빚을 갚는 마음으로 이전에 죄를 지었던 몸을 하나님께 드려서 더 이상 불의의 병기가 아닌 의를 행하는 병기로 드리게 된다는 것입니다.

        그렇습니다. 주 예수 그리스도의 죽으심과 장사되심과 부활하심을 믿어 하나님의 자녀가 된 사람들을 향하신 하나님의 모든 말씀은 이미 하늘 법정에서 변경할 수 없는 판결을 이미 내리신 것입니다. 그러므로 사도 바울이 증거한 대로 첫째로 진리를 알고, 아는 대로 여기고, 여기는 대로 믿음으로 하나님께 몸을 드려 순종함으로써 의의 병기가 되어 죄와 상관없는 자유인으로 살아야 하는 것입니다.

          죽은 자가 어떻게 불평하겠습니까? 죽은 자가 어떻게 남을 판단하면서 죽은 시체의 냄새를 풍기겠습니까? 옛 사람이 죽은 거듭난 성도들의 삶은 안에 계신 그리스도의 사랑이 나타나는 삶을 살아야 하는 것입니다. 사랑이 허다한 죄들을 덮는다고 사도 베드로가 증거했습니다(벧전 4:8). 구원받은 후에 어떤 삶을 살고 있습니까? 아직도 썩어 냄새나는 옛 사람을 부둥켜 안고 있습니가? 아니면 그 지겨운 죄의 옛 사람을 벗어버리고 진리시며 새 사람이신 예수 그리스도로 옷입고 있습니까? 오늘 다시 한 번 진리를 깨닫고 죄로부터 자유로운 삶을 시작하지 않겠습니까?

Meditation of the week: Isaiah 53:1-12

Main scripture: Romans 5:20-6:23

Subject: Are you living as if your body of sin as dead or alive?

          Without sin, no sin comes into being. In other word, God couldn’t question to anyone for sin, if he had not given the law. But man can understand of their sins according to the law of conscience that is made by God, without the law. God repented that he made men in the time of Noah without the law, for the imagination of the thoughts of the heart was wicked continuously. They ignored the voice of the conscience to be in evil heart, and ended with evil works not forsaking their evil imagination. Only Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD God. The LORD God planned to fill the earth again through the family of Noah and he judged them all with the flood.

          Apostle Paul testified of them that had lived without the law of God unto the Romans:

“For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;

(For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:

Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.”(Rom. 2:12-16)

         Yeah! The standard of the judgment of God is different from the ages. In the Garden of Eden, there was only one law asking not to eat the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. Since then, there had been no law of God for 2,500 years until God gave the law through Moses. Therefore, the standard of the judgment of God had been according to the work of each man’s conscience until the law of God was given. Regarding this, Apostle Paul testified that God shall judge the secrets of men someday appointed by God. Apostle John saw the scene of the final judgment of God in the Spirit, and testified of it:

“And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”(Rev. 20:11-15)

           Seeing the people who lived in the time of Noah, we can guess, there must have been very few that lived according to their conscience. Men that had lived in the age of conscience, and most of them that had lived in the age of the law have no chance to be resurrected until the end of the Millennium of Jesus Christ. In other word, they cannot resurrect in the reigning of thousand years of Jesus Christ in the time of dwelling of the people of Israel that repent in the Great Tribulation, and the Gentiles that are saved through washing their robes making white with the blood of the Lamb, and the born again children of God that attend the wedding of the Lamb of God, and reign with Christ gloriously. They cannot participate in the first resurrection, but in the second resurrection to be judged at the judgment seat of white throne of God. Apostle John testified of the blessing for them that participate in the first resurrection:

“Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.”(Rev. 20:6)

       In the main passage given to us today, Apostle Paul testifies of the grace given unto them that are saved in the new age that is called the age of grace after the age of the law passed by, as well as their life. He testified, Jesus Christ received all sins of the law transferring them unto his body, and he died for our sins committed according to the law of conscience as well as the law making himself be sin for us to make us righteous, even though he knew no sin (2Cor. 5:21).

          Apostle Paul testifies of the reason why God has given the law saying, moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. More sins is ended with understanding of miserable sinner, and finding the only way to come to Jesus Christ to believe in him. he testified of this truth:

“Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.”(Gal. 3:24,25)

           Jesus spoke unto the Jews a parable of the debtor who was forgiven all his debts to let them understand of the grace that shall be given through believing in him:

“ There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.

And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most.”(Luke 7:41,42)

           In the main passage, Apostle Paul said, “Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?”; sinners are the debtors unto God. In other word, there is more grace for them that were in more sins, when they are forgiven their sins, that as sin has reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Christ Jesus our Lord.

         The word of God is questioning unto us saved by grace in the midst of abundant sins asking, “Shall we continue in sin, that grace may be abound?” The answer is, “God forbid.”  Of the reason of that answer, ” How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”

Apostle Paul explained about the reason saying,

For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”(Gal. 2:19,20)

In other word, he understood that his sinful body died with Christ on the cross after he believed on Jesus Christ, and received the remission of all sins to receive the eternal life. In other word, the old man of him that was born of Adam is already reported as dead in heaven so that no one could judge his dead man at all. He also testifies that how can dead man sin?

          In the main passage, the word of God testifies,

“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.”(Rom. 6:4-6)

       Apostle Paul testifies of the legal judgment sentenced in the court in heaven for us. In other word, God recognizes that our old man that was born of Adam dead on the cross with Christ within him at the moment of our salvation. At the same time, God judged, our old man is dead. Whosoever believes this is supposed to live in nothing to do with sin at all. Jesus said unto the Jews, “the truth shall make you free.”(John 8:32) Upon understanding this truth, we are to be free from sins. But if we don’t know this truth, we are to live in sinful life making smell of dead, as if dead man is sinning coming out of grave. Therefore, it is the way to have true freedom through knowing the truth this is the reason why we have to search the scriptures to abide in the words of God.

        Therefore, whosoever understand this truth has to obey the truth saying, “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Even though we cannot feel physically, but we have to live by faith recognizing our sinful old man already dead, and buried.

Upon understanding this truth, we are not to obey the old man.

Upon living a new life, we are to present our sinful body unto God as the instruments of righteousness no more of unrighteousness to pay the debts unto God.

            Yeah! All the words of God toward them that believed the death of Christ, and his burial and resurrection to be children of God are confirmed by in the court in heaven. As Apostle Paul testified, we have to know the truth, and recognize as we know, and believe as we recognize, and present our body by faith to be the instruments of righteousness, and we have to live as free man being nothing to do with sins.

          How can the dead man complain? How the dead man judge others smelling of the corruption? The born again Christian whose old man is dead is supposed to live manifesting the love of Jesus Christ. As testified by Apostle Peter, charity shall cover the multitudes of sins (1Peter 4:8). What kind of life are you living after you are saved? Are you still embracing smelling sinful body that is already in corruption? Or are you clothed with the new man that is Jesus Christ putting off the miserable old body of sins? What about understanding the truth again, and starting a new life to be free from sins?
