금주의 묵상: 시편 46:1-9

본문: 시편 47:1-11

제목: 가만히 있어 하나님께서 높임을 받으시도록 하라!

        하나님께서는 앞으로 이스라엘 백성들이 고난 가운데 있게 될 때에 두려워하지 말고 하나님께서 높임을 받으시도록 가만히 있으라는 말씀입니다. 이 말씀은 이스라엘 백성들뿐만 아니라 이 세대에 살고 있는 하나님의 자녀들에게도 하시는 말씀인 것입니다. 그 이유에 대하여 하나님만이 피난처가 되시며 힘이 되시기 때문이라고 말씀하고 있습니다.

          앞으로 이스라엘 백성들에게 닥쳐오는 고난에 대하여 성경은 예언의 말씀을 주시고 있습니다. 이러한 고난은 지금까지 어느 세대에서도 보지 못했던 일들임을 알 수 있습니다. 땅이 없어지고, 산들이 바다 가운데로 옮겨지고, 바다들이 노호하고 요동하고 바닷물이 불어나서 산들이 흔들릴 것이라고 말씀하고 있습니다.

그러나 이러한 엄청난 환난 가운데서도 하나님의 도성인 예루살렘은 하나님께서 이른 아침에 도우심으로써 흔들리지 않을 것이라고 말씀하고 있습니다.

          이러한 환경적인 고난뿐만 아니라, 앞으로는 이방 나라들이 이스라엘을 향하여 격노하고 요동할지라도 주께서 음성을 내실 때에 그들이 모두 녹아질 것이라고 말씀하고 있습니다. 전쟁에 능하신 만군의 주께서 그들과 함께 하심으로써 그들의 피난처가 되실 것이기 때문입니다. 하나님께서는 이스라엘을 공격하는 이방나라들과 싸우시어 그들의 모든 무기들을 불사르실 것이라고 말씀하고 있습니다. 또한 하나님께서 그들을 위하여 싸우실 때에 그들이 해야 할 일은 단 한 가지 그들에게 주시는 말씀은 “가만히 있으라!”는 것입니다.

        앞으로 이스라엘 백성들이 겪어야 할 고난에 대하여 선지자 스카랴도 예언했습니다. 그리고 그 때가 어느 때인지에 대하여서도 예언했습니다:

 “보라, 주의 날이 오나니, 네 약탈물들이 네 가운데서 나뉘리라. 내가 모든 민족을 모아 예루살렘을 대적하여 싸우게 하리라. 성읍은 함락되고 집들은 강탈당하며 여자들이 욕을 당하고, 성읍의 절반이 사로잡혀 갈 것이나, 백성의 나머지는 성읍에서 끊어지지 아니하리라. 그때에 주께서 나가 그 민족들을 대적하여 싸우시리니, 전쟁의 날에 싸우셨을 때처럼 하시리라. 그의 발이 그 날에 예루살렘 앞 동편에 있는 올리브 산 위에 서시리니, 올리브 산은 그 중간이 동쪽과 서쪽으로 갈라져 매우 큰 골짜기가 생길 것이며, 산의 절반은 북쪽으로, 산의 절반은 남쪽으로 옮겨지리라…..주께서는 온 땅을 치리할 왕이 되시리니, 그 날에는 한 분 주께서 계실 것이며, 그의 이름 하나만 있으리라.”(슥 14:1-4,9)

            이 예언의 말씀은 시편 46편에서 예언하신 일들이 어느 때에 일어날 것을 말씀해 주고 있는 것입니다. 스카랴 선지자를 통하여 하신 말씀 가운데 우리는 이 모든 일들이 대 환란 끝에 주 예수 그리스도께서 재림하셔서 이방나라들을 심판하시는 아마겟돈 전쟁 때에 일어날 일임을 알 수 있는 것입니다. 하나님께서는 이방나라들로 하여금 예루살렘을 공격하도록 하실 것이라고 말씀하고 있습니다. 하나님께서 이스라엘 백성을 선택하신 이후로 인류 역사는 모든 민족들이 이 땅에 제사장 민족으로 세우신 이스라엘을 박해해 온 역사인 것입니다. 마침내 하나님께서는 그들을 심판하시기 위하여 그들 모두를 아마겟돈으로 모아서 심판하실 것입니다. 이스라엘 백성들 역시 그들의 메시야이신 주 예수 그리스도를 거역하고 죽인 죄값을 치러야 하기 때문에 성읍의 절반을 사로잡혀가도록 허락하실 것입니다. 그러나 예루살렘 도성만큼은 지켜주시겠다고 약속하신 것입니다. 이 마지막 심판을 마치신 후 주 예수 그리스도께서는 온 지구를 통치하시는 유일한 왕이 되실 것이라고 말씀하고 있습니다. 하나님께서 이 모든 것을 허락하신 것은 그분께서 마지막으로 영광을 받으시기 원하시기 위함이라고 시편 기자가 말씀했습니다: “가만 있으라. 그리고 내가 하나님인 것을 알라. 내가 이방 가운데서 높임을 받으리니 내가 지상에서 높임을 받으리라.”(시 46:10)

        오래 전에 하나님께서 이스라엘 백성들을 이집트로부터 데려나오실 때에도 하나님께서는 파라오의 군대로 하여금 이스라엘 백성들을 추격하게 하셔서 영광을 받으신 적이 있었으며 그때에도 그들에게 “가만히 있으라!”고 말씀하셨습니다. 이에 대하여 하나님의 사람 모세가 증거했습니다:

 “주께서 이집트 왕 파라오의 마음을 완악하게 하시므로 그가 이스라엘 자손들을 뒤쫓으나 이스라엘 자손들이 의기양양하게 나갔더라. 그러나 이집트인들이 그들을 뒤쫓으니, 곧 모든 말들과 파라오와 병거들과 그의 기병들과 그의 군대라. 바알스폰 맞은 편 피하히못 곁 바닷가에 진을 치고 있는 그들에게 다다르니라. 파라오가 가까이 다가올 때 이스라엘 자손들이 눈을 드니, 보라, 이집트인들이 그들에게로 진군해 오는지라, 이스라엘 자손들이 심히 두려워하며 주께 부르짖었더라…..모세가 백성들에게 말하기를 ,’너희는 두려워 말고 가만히 서서 주께서 오늘 본 이집트인들을 다시는 영원하 보지 못하리라. 주께서 너희를 위하여 싸우시리니 너희는 가만히 있을지니라.’고 하더라. 주께서 모세에게 말씀하시기를 ‘너는 어찌하여 내게 부르짖느냐? 이스라엘 자손들에게 말하며 앞으로 나아가게 하고 너는 네 막대기를 들어 네 손을 바다 위로 뻗쳐서 그것을 가르라. 그리하면 이스라엘 자손들이 바다 가운데를 통과해서 마른 땅 위를 가르라. 내가, 보라, 내가 이집트인들의 마음을 완악하게 하리라. 그러면 그들이 백성을 따라가리니 내가 파라오와 그의 모든 군대와 그의 병거들과 그의 기병들 위에서 영예를 얻으리라. 내가 파라오와 그의 모든 군대와 그의 병거들과 그의 기병들 위에서 영예를 얻고 나서야 이집트인들은 내가 주인 줄 알게 되리라.”(출 14:8-10, 13-18)

         그렇습니다. 하나님께서 이집트인들과 모든 이방 나라 사람들 앞에서 영예를 얻으시기 위하여 이스라엘 백성들에게 “너희는 가만히 있으라!”고 말씀하신 것입니다. 하나님께서 그들과 싸우시도록 “너희는 가만히 있으라!”고 말씀하신 것입니다. 하나님의 종 다윗 왕은 그의 시편에서 “주께서는 나로 그 말씀 위에서 소망을 갖게 하셨나이다. 이 말씀은 나의 고난 중에 나의 위로가 되었으니 이는 주의 말씀이 나를 소생시키셨음이니이다.”(시 119:49,50)라고 고백했습니다/

그렇습니다! 우리가 소망을 가질 수 있는 것은 영이요 생명이신 하나님의 말씀밖에 없는 것입니다. 뿐만 아니라, 우리가 하나님의 말씀 안에서 행할 때 하나님의 법의 보호를 받아 모든 고난 가운데서도 위로를 받을 수 있는 것입니다. 이것이 하나님의 말씀의 전신갑주를 입어 사탄이 통치하는 세상에서 보호받아야 하는 이유인 것입니다.

          아담과 이브가 하나님의 말씀을 버리고 사탄을 따라갔을 때부터 이 세상은 죄와 사망과 저주 가운데 소망 없이 살 수밖에 없게 되었으며, 하나님의 위로를 받을 수 없게 되었던 것입니다. 하나님께서는 사천 년 동안을 참으시면서 그의 종들을 통하여 계속 말씀하셨지만 그의 택한 백성들까지도 그분의 말씀을 버렸던 것입니다. 그러므로 말라기 선지 이후 사백 년동안 하나님께서는 침묵하시며 아무런 말씀도 주시지 않았습니다.

            에덴 동산에서 아담과 이브와 더불어 함께 하셨던 하나님께서 이천 년 전에 마침내 이 땅에 나타나셨습니다. 태초에 말씀으로 계셨으며, 아버지와 함께 계셨던 말씀이시며 만물을 창조하셨던 창조주께서 이 땅에 사람으로 나타나셨던 것입니다. 오로지 그분 안에 영원한 생명이 있었으며, 그 생명은 사람들의 빛이셨습니다. 그분을 믿고 영접한 사람들에게 그 생명의 빛이 임했을 때 영원한 생명을 받아 하나님의 자녀가 되는 권세를 주셨던 것입니다. 그러나 그분께서는 앞으로 이천 년이라는 기간 동안 그의 이름으로 보내실 성령을 통하여 많은 하나님의 자녀들을 만드시는 계획을 세우셨습니다.

          그러나 하나님께서는 그의 자녀들을 그분께서 다시 오실 때까지 이집트의 파라오 왕같은 사탄이 통치하는 세상에 두셔야만 하셨습니다. 이 세상 신인 사탄은 하나님의 백성들과 하나님의 자녀들을 끊임 없이 공격하고 괴롭혀 왔습니다. 그러나 하나님께서는 이스라엘 백성들과 하나님의 자녀들을 박해하는 모든 이방 민족들을 심판하시기 위하여 한 날을 정해 놓으시고 기다리시며 오래 참고 계시는 것입니다.

            이스라엘 백성들이 이방 민족들에게 공격을 당할 때마다 “가만히 서 있으라!”고 말씀하신 주님께서 오늘날 하나님의 자녀들을 향하여 같은 말씀을 주시고 있는 것입니다. “너희의 염려를 다 하나님께 맡기라. 이는 그분께서 너희를 돌보심이니라.”(벧전 5:7)

옛날 이스라엘 백성들에게 “너희는 두려워 말고 가만히 서서 주께서 오늘 너희에게 보여주실 주의 구원을 보라!”(출 14:13)고 하신 말씀대로 오늘날 우리들에게도 아주 간단한 말씀을 주신 것입니다. 모든 염려를 주님께 맡길 때 주님께서는 우리를 위하여 일하실 수 있으며 또한 주님만이 영예를 얻으실 수 있는 것입니다. 우리는 하나님의 말씀에 순종할 때 그 말씀 위에서만 소망을 가질 수 있으며, 또한 모든 고난 가운데서도 성령님의 위로를 받을 수 있는 것입니다. 말씀 위에서 소망을 가질 수 있는 비결은 하나님의 말씀에 순종하는 길밖에 없는 것입니다.

          하나님께서 땅을 향하여 “땅은 땅 위에 풀과 씨를 맺는 채소와 그 종류대로 열매 맺는 씨를 가진 과실수를 내라.”(창 1:11) 하셨을 때 그대로 되었습니다. 그렇습니다. 우리가 하나님의 말씀을 받아 마음에 지켜 행할 때 말씀의 열매를 맺을 수 있는 것입니다. 그 열매는 아무리 극심한 고난과 박해 가운데서도 하나님께서 주시는 평안을 누릴 수 있는 것입니다. 또한 하나님께서 돌보심 가운데 주시는 열매를 먹으며 주님을 찬양할 때 오직 주님께서만 영광을 받으실 수 있는 것입니다.

          주님께서 세상을 떠나가시기 전에 근심하는 제자들에게 마지막으로 권면의 말씀을 주셨습니다. 이 말씀은 우리들에게도 주신 유언의 말씀인 것입니다:

“내가 이런 일들(요한복음 15-16장)을 너희에게 말한 것은 너희가 내 안에서 화평을 지니게 하려 함이라. 세상에서는 너희가 환난을 당할 것이나 기운을 내라(Be of good cheer!). 내가 세상을 이겼노라.”(요 16:33) 아멘! 할렐루야!

Meditation of the week: psalms 47:1-9

Subject: Stand still, and let the Lord be glorified!

         The LORD God commanded the people of Israel not to fear in the midst of the Great Tribulation, but to stand still so that God may be exalted among the heathen. This word is also applied not only to the people of Israel, but to the children of God in this generation, because only God is our refuge and strength.

            This scripture prophesies of the Great Tribulation to be coming to pass unto the people of Israel. Such a tribulation has never been seen in any other generation so far; the earth shall be removed, and the mountains shall be carried into the midst of the sea, waters thereof shall roar and be troubled, and the mountains shall be shaken with the swelling thereof. Even in such kinds of tribulation, the city of God, the holy place of the most high shall not be moves; God shall help her, and that right early.

          Not only environmental disasters, but also the heathen rages, and the kingdoms are moved; then God utters his voice, the earth shall be melted. Then the Almighty God of the hosts will be with them to fight against the heathen that attack Israel, and he will burn all their weapons. And the only one thing that they have to do is to stand still.

            Of the tribulation that the people of Israel have to pass through, prophet Zechariah prophesied; and he also prophesied when such tribulation come to pass:

Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.

For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.

And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south…. And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one. …And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one. “(Zech. 14:1-4,9)

         The prophesy of Zechariah explains about when the prophesy written in Psalms 46 shall come to pass. Through the prophesy of Zechariah, we can see the things that shall happen at the war of Armageddon when the Lord Jesus Christ judge the heathen at his second coming. The LORD God will make all the gentile nations attack Jerusalem. Since God chose Israel as his own people, all the nations have been gathering together persecuting the people of Israel that is to be the people of priest for God in his kingdom. Finally, God will gather them together unto Armageddon to judge them all. Even the people of Israel have to pay for their sins that they rejected their Messiah, and killed him; the half of the city of Jerusalem shall be in captivity under the permission of God. But the city of Jerusalem is promised to be in safety by God. After the final judgment against all the nations, the Lord Jesus Christ shall be king of all the earth; in that day shall be there be one LORD. The reason why God allowed all these things is that God want to be glorified finally among the heathen as testified by the psalmist: “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth”(Ps. 46:10)

         Long time ago, when God took the people of Israel out of Egypt, he made the army of Pharaoh follow the Israel for him to be glorified after all. Even at that time, God asked the people of Israel, “Stand still”. Moses, the man of God testified of this saying,

“And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand.

But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pi–hahiroth, before Baal–zephon.

And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord….And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:

But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.

And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.”(Ex. 14:8-10, 13-18)

           Yeah! God commanded the people of Israel to stand still for him to be glorified among the Egyptians. God wanted to fight with the Egyptians for them. King David, the servant of God confessed in his psalms saying,

“Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.

This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.”(Ps. 119:49,50)

Yeah! Our only hope is the word of God that is spirit and life. When we walking in the words of God, we can be protected in his word that is the law of God. This is the very reason why we are supposed to be protected in the whole armor of the word of God in the present world that is reigning by Satan.

          Since Adam and Eve forsake the word of God to follow Satan, there has been no hope in the midst of sin and death and curses without any comfort of God. God had continued to spoke to the world through his servants with patience for 4 thousand years, even his own people have forsaken his words. God had never spoken any word at all four hundred years after prophet Malachi prophesied. The LORD God who was with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden appeared as a man in the earth after all. He was the Word in the beginning; and he was with God; and he was the God the Creator of all things. Only in him was life that was the light of man. He gave the power to be the children of God receiving the eternal life, to whomsoever believes in him, and receive him. God planned to bring forth his children through the Holy Ghost for last two thousand years.

              But God had to allow his children live in the present world under the Satan as Pharaoh, the king of Egypt until he come. The Satan, the prince of the world has been persecuting his people as well as the children of God without ceasing. But God has set a day for him to judge all the Gentile nations that persecute his people as well as his children with patience.

            Whenever the people of Israel were attacked by the heathen the LORD God commanded them to stand still; he also asks the children of God the same message:

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”(1Pet. 5:7)

As Moses said unto the people of Israel, “Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day, ye shall see them again no more forever.”(Ex. 14:13), God gave us a simple word to cast out all our cares unto God; then God can do for us, and only God shall be glorified. When we obey the words of God, we are able to have hope on his words. And even in the midst of tribulation, we are able to live in the comfort of the Holy Ghost. Only to have the hope on the words of God is to obey them.

            God commanded earth saying,

“Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.”(Gen. 1:11)

It was done as God said. When we keep the words of God, and walk in them, we can reap the fruits of the words of God. The fruit is to have peace from God even in the extreme tribulation. And when we eat the fruits, and praise the Lord in the midst of God’s help, only the Lord shall be exalted and glorified.

           Just before the Lord Jesus departed the earth, he encouraged his disciple with his final word saying,

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”(John 16:33) Amen! Hallelujah!
